[Q]DNLA Setup with xBox 360 - HTC Amaze 4G

I'm just curious on how to set up the Connected Media to my xbox360. Instead of buying a mhl adaptor its supposed to be able to connect to it via WiFi. Just need to know how to do it. I googled and YouTubed but I want to use the app that came on the phone instead of downloading another app.

Have you tried it on a hdmi device? I have done it on my hd tv. It works and well. I believe you must have hdmi output to do it. Or the laptop dock is the main option.

Well it pulled up on my TV. Isn't there a way to use it on a desktop without the dock?

If you have a HDMI input on your desktop monitor, you can connect the Atrix via HDMI to your monitor. If you have the Webtop hack, you will be able to use it this way. If not, you should still be able to use the entertainment center. You won't however be able to use Webtop on a laptop, as video on a laptop is out only. Similarily, you won't be able to connect your phone through the video card on a desktop, as this is video out only also. You could possible do this with an elaborate setup using firewire, serial ports, etc., but why would you go to those lengths?
Hope I understood your question and my response answers that question.
Cheers!
<edit> I should also add that the limiting factor with a laptop and desktop is not the connection itself, but rather the drivers. The ports are capable of video in, but you will not find drivers to accommodate this.
The laptop dock is not a "laptop" as such, and you shouldn't confuse the laptop dock with a laptop.

used this for thunderbolt to TV? (without DLNA)

Has anyone used this adapter to get their bolt to TV?
http://www.expansys-usa.com/expansys-mhl-microusb-to-hdmi-adapter-black-221378/
saw a review that it worked for the sensation.
To the best of my knowledge, the tbolt does not have any programming or chip to send the video out through the micro usb port. So the piece would not work as it would get no signal from the phone

totally agree with the logic of its native programming to not have such a feature but is it possible for a application to be downloaded that could make one? maybe if its rooted anyways there might be a app.
I know you said no DLNA, bit I've been using skifta and it works great. Check it out. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.skifta.android.app

I don't think my TV has dlna or wifi capabilities. What other options are there to play rented movies from Google videos on my bolt to the television. Don't have an Xbox or PS. Just phone, laptop, TV.
Stumped on this one. Last resort is checking to see if your digital cable provider (if you have one) has an app that will allow
media sharing via their DVR or cable box. I have Verizon FiOS and their app let's me share pics and video through my DVR into my TV. Limited, but it works.

Media Link

I cannot get my phone to connect to the Motorola Media Link. I can connect to move files, but MML refuses to connect.
I have tried all of the different USB modes. I have had debugging on and off. I have downloaded the latest drivers. Any ideas?

Have you tried to do it wireless? And I've noticed it only works on IE. Sadly, tried it on google chrome and firefox with no real luck to get files. But you could try it, maybe it was just my phone?

You should be able to connect via Bluetooth. Turn it on via your phone. Then find the setting in your head unit. And connect. Should auto connect if I recall correctly.

MHL question

Just wondering if all MHL adapters are the same. Meaning, can I use a generic non-HTC adapter on my Rezound?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
I believe so. Someone posted that a monoprice one worked on his GSII. I know that is a different phone but it is likely that HTC hasn't blocked generic ones if samsung didn't.

The monoprice adapter works for my Rezound.
Thx for the help, just order a 10$ mhl adapter. After this bad boy set me back 600$ i'm trying to squeeze all the accessories I can outta this weeks paycheck.
I'll let you guys know how it goes when I get it.
The thunderbolt/EVO 3D htc mhl adapter works.
How can I control my phone with out touching it?
(Watching netflix and don't want to get up every time)

The Monoprice MHL adapter works like a charm. You can't use your HTC cable in the adapter though. So pick up a long enough 5 pin micro usb cable( I am using a 6' wish I would have bought bigger) and long enough HDMI cable for your set up so you don't have to stand next to your TV operate the phone and watch it on the TV.
to further add to the question, if you're going through the MHL->HDMI to your telie, will it also keep your phone charged?
Yes you plug the adapter to the phone and the wall

Yeah its a lot going on for our phone to display on a TV. My wife's Bionic has hdmi out, that is so easy! Just bought a hdmi to micro hdmi cable from monoprice for 3 bucks for my wife's phone. The Rezound looks like a octopus just to display to the TV!
Where u guys getting the monoprice MHL? Amazon? I haven't connected any phone to my tv since my original EVO days. Would love to do it with this one. Thanks fellas

Does anyone know if NFL mobile app will work through the mhl adapter? I'm thinking of picking one up for that and some emulator gaming.

No, the video parts of the NFL app will not work. I have tried it and when you try to access video content, the screen you are connected to view blank.
Thats weird. I thought u can view anything that's on your phone... Even the home screen!? Is there anything else that doesn't work through the mhl?

I recieved mine from Monoprice, works great. But it HAS to be connected to power (charger or USB both work) to function, not just if you want the phone to charge while using the adapter.
What I did was use a short HDMI cable, short micro USB cable plugged into one of my TVs USB ports for power, and then mounted the adapter to the back of my TV with velco. I then use a micro usb extension cable to connect the adapter to my phone, cutting down a TON on the octopus effect. And I can always disconnect the adapter to take it with me somewhere.
Is this the adapter everyone is buying, its $14 not $10 so want to make sure I'm not missing anothr one on their site. http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10833&cs_id=1083314&p_id=8675&seq=1&format=2

Turning my photon into a nexus Q

Ok so I've got my deactivated Photon and I'm repurposing the device as an Android media player. I'm basically trying to make it a nexus Q/Google TV like device. Looking for suggestions on how to best achieve this. I would like to be able to control the device from my phone (Note 2) as the nexus Q allows you to modify it's music queue.
Some background: phone is unlocked, I'm using an HD dock to connect to my TV or stereo.

Buy an HDMI Cable & download an airplay server app from the market (the is one like that)
and an AIrplay Client
Hdmi out on my photon always looked terribly pixelly. I almost could not stand it but mine is locked so maybe custom roms and kernels fix that issue.

Thinking of doing this on a 32" bedroom TV. How are you all controlling it, do you just set up whatever video you want and then plunk it into the dock, or do you have a wireless keyboard/mouse?

Well that's one of the things I'm trying to figure out. If I can get it to behave like the Nexus Q then I could control it from any Android device. Unfortunately I have yet to figure out how to accomplish this.
