Latest official android update?

Hello everyone,
I got Ace for my wife and I know sh*t about Samsungs (I use HTC) I noticed it has old Android version. Now, what are the mothods of updating with Samsung? Are there OTA updates as with HTC or you have to download rom from somewhere and flash it with cable? Also, what is the latest version (is there Gingerbread?) and where to find it?
Thanx a lot
Cheers,
D.
here are the latest rom developments for galaxy ace you may want to read it so you'll know which one is for you.

[Q] Updating to Ice Cream Sandwich on Samsung Galaxy SII

Hi,
I'm currently in the process of updating my android version to ICS on my Galaxy S2.
It has been on the download screen, at this point, over an hour.
Does anyone know how long this usually takes?
Thanks!
It doesn't take this much tym its definitely a network issue
You get ICS installed in the end?
Thank you.
No it didn't install. I'm looking further into it. I think you are right about the network issue.
So is the update suppose to be provided by the service provider or samsung?
I'd suggest to check the galaxys2 forum section, there will be users that surely can help you better...
Is this an official update? It sounds as though you had an OTA update rather than flashing an unofficial rom, if this is true what network is this with? I thought it'd be January before Samsung released their version of ICS?

Upgrade to Android 4.0.3?

Hello, I have a Galaxy S II, I want to upgrade to Android 4.0.3, which firmware you advise me.?
I want a future that would allow the update via OTA and the Kies.
Sorry for the ignorance and Parabens by the Forum.
My version is low!
this BADLY needs to be moved to the Q&A section. Development threads only in this section!!
If you want to keep all the official update methods then you will just have to wait on Samsung. Flashing one of these voids your warranty....

Stock is better than any of the ICS builds currently available for me.
New CM9 build is highly recommended.
Edit: Apologies disregard. Kies/OTA requirement spotted.
Regards
I guess its easy to summarize that there's none currently, as the ones currently available are leaks and not officially released by Samsung, and therefore, you won't be able to update through OTA or Kies.
Wait for a few weeks for the official version.

[Q] ICS and Root question.

I have rooted Atrix 4G I purchased it rooted. I want to update to ICS but I've heard that you shouldn't update rooted phone. Is it possible to do the update? or would I have to unroot my phone first. Since I purchased the phone rooted, I have no idea what was used or how its done. Any help is appreciated.
thank you
First of all, if you are talking about official ICS update then I have to break ur heart, it's cancelled. Motorola will not provide any ICS update to Atrix. Now ur phone is rooted, then u can install CyanogenMod 9(ICS) rom. CM9 is fully working ICS with only a laggy camcorder problem. Developers are trying to debug this. Otherwise cm9 is good.
Atrix 4G, CM7 based TopSmarts 1.3 rom, Faux123 1ghz kernel.
If I m helpful dont hesitate to thank me.
When I go into my settings->about phone->system updates it tells me that I have an update available. and the release note say that it is software upgrade Android 4.0.4 for Motorola Atrix 2. is this not ICS?

[Q] Update from 3.0

Hi, my brother in-law purchased open box/new TF201 with 3.0 version. He wants to update to the latest version. He called Asus support. They want him to pay $99 for the warranty first before they can provide any help. I've spent some time searching this forum and found manual updates to JB. However I'm not sure if he can jump from version 3 to JB. What he needs is just stock updates and fixes. I'm not an expert in android world. If someone could direct me where can I find needed updates and what should I do first, second, etc. I would really appreciate. Thank you in advance.
First, He cans update to ICS (4.0) directly by OTA.
For JB (4.1), it depends on his prime. Some of them receive the update via OTA ... Some other wait and wait the official update ... But they will not have it ... Like me ! ^^
So I've done the update manually (with some mistakes that I correct after, thanks to XDA members), and I install a custom ROM (androwook), based on the latest JB update for our Prime !
