Alright to start off I just got a new LG optimus V. It is rooted with gingerbread and i have messed around with some roms.. Not knowing that i needed to worry about diff basebands and what not -.-. Now i am currently looking for the correct CM7 i think N series. For the New baseband!? also.. with the nightlys how would i update to them and what not when they are posted? If this doesnt make any sense I'M SORRY lol I'm trying to figure all this out.. So please don't be to rude! I can take some remarks lol
No one?
even if you have gtalk to help would be great.. I wont take much of your time just get me in the right direction and i should be good! please and thank you
Calm down, man...
First question, since I don't know how things go with US carriers: When you go to settings->about phone, what is your firmware version? V10[x] or v20[x]?
This is the way to know your baseband. v10 is old and v20 is new. Although, since you're on Gingerbread I suspect it is a v20 (hence having the new baseband).
---------- Post added at 11:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:53 PM ----------
I don't know if the Optimus V is just a new branding or if it has a different hardware of some sort, but if it's OK I do think the official CyanogenMod nightlies are a good choice. If you encounter bugs that you can't live with, then my second recommendation would be the unofficial CyanogenMod N2 ROM from Adam with the kernel franco.Kernel.v1.1-12112011. It was the last kernel from Franco to feature the stock touch screen drivers, which makes the ROM much smoother than his last kernel (from December 6) that comes with the ROM .
well how about this.. scratch all that and now im trying to figure out how to get unstuck from the LG screen and no i cant get into Clockwork recovery or whatever.

What did you do before you got stuck on that?
Do you really want to know? and if i say don't call names lmao
I went to the clockwork recovery and tried to install a rom.. and i did everything i was suppose to do like wipe and all and then installed it and it got stuck to it.. so i went back to the recovery and factory reset.. thought maybe if i just do that and put it back to stock ill leave it alone.. but now its stuck
Also im a little new to all this.. and if anyone would mind walking me thrwe the steps my gtalk account is [email protected] would BE AMAZING.. if its fixable other wise ill just return it for a new one tmr.. but hope i dont have to do that

Ok, so I did some stupid things while trying to install cyanogenmod (my Android friends told me I needed to do this). All was going well until I rebooted using rommanager, and had a signature error (i think). I then pressed ALL OF THE WRONG BUTTONS (probably toggle signature verification i think). Now when i boot the phone it goes:
- o2 animation screen
- galaxy s2 logo
- pause
- o2 animation screen (repeat)
SO.. I'm guessing I need to put the firmware back on there, right? I can get into download mode OK:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-i9100
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES (3 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
I'm guessing I can use Odin to install a new OS / firmware.. right? .....right? I would start trying to fix this myself, but I'm guessing the chances of me breaking this even further are *really high*.
If anyone can offer any help, a terrible n00b would be extremely grateful.. Hey if you want any Unity3D advice in exchange, let me know
You have a bootloop. Just download the correct firmware for your phone and flash through odin.

Apologies for being a vile, horrible n00b, but where do I get the correct firmware from? I don't want to make any further mistakes. Could I continue trying to get cyanogen on this?

Vile & horrible, lol.
Don't worry mate. Just get it back to a level playing field and then think about custom ROMs, like CM.
Look at the xda bookmarks in my sig and get the official firmware thread. Just get a recent one from there and flash. You should be good to go after that. Everything you need to know is in the 1st post of the thread.
Incidentally, don't listen to anyone that tells you you "need" to do anything. Get the thing working and just use it. A lot of phones are definitely better with custom stuff on them, but this phone really doesn't need it for a great experience. Once you know it well enough to know what more you want then you can start getting custom ROMs in order to do that. Seriously, the stock version of the SGS2 is still better than most phones out there with the best custom ROMs available. It just depends what you want out of it.
ITS WORKING AGAIN!!
Thankfully I made a backup.. and i restored it using clockwork recovery mode.
I want to use it for development, and I am a nerd, so I want to mess around with it a bit.. so now it's working again, back to cyanogen, and to work out what I did wrong!

Glad you got it working mate.
I tried CM7 recently myself, and despite being very careful and following the instructions to the letter I ended up stuck on the boot logo. A reboot into recovery mode fixed it though, automatically, so no harm done.
I guess there's no black and white in these things. Sometimes, "something" just goes wrong.
What kind of development are you gonna be doing? Are you gonna be the next big thing in ROMs or apps?

before doing any more messing around make sure you take a backup of your efs folder this contains your imei number and other stuff. if that buggers up, then you will not be able to fix it yourself. see this thread for a guide of how to backup your EFS folder.

Well good luck mate. The more the merrier, I say
i know this is brought up alot on the forums and theres plenty of answers but im that much of a noob too flashing ect.. that i have no idea what any of these answers are talking about and i need someone to help me through how to do it...
I put gingerblur on my rooted atrix yesterday using this video
youtube.com/watch?v=MvC0C2h95BY&list=FLqfb2F1A2s4Z08JTFsWNuGg& index=4&feature=plpp_video (which involves CMW or something)
meaning i had no idea what i was doing just following step by steps on the video, and ever since my homescreen button and search button dont work and i no longer have a lock screen so i want to go back to stock because i dont like the bugginess!
my phone before i put it on gingerblur was 2.2.2 froyo on tmobile uk (unlocked device with no tmobile branding on the rear cover)
i would really apreciate it if someone could guide me how to turn it back to the software it came with or an official less buggy software please?
i checked my ota upgrade with gingerblur on the device and it says i can go to ATT gingerbread but then im sure this wouldnt work in the uk with the radio update but someone said i can do the ota then just flash the radio to a uk one but i had no idea what that means
im not sure at all what im doing with this and i wish i didnt follow the tutorial in the first place can someone help me please!
i just want to get back to stock or an official software that will work on tmobile uk and not brick my phone.
any helpe is appreciated thank you!
P.S i have CWM recovery does this have anything to do with restoring your phone how it was because it seems to have recovery options?
Did you unlock the bootloader? If you did, and have CWM, just install a ROM of your preference
If you want a hint on what ROM to choose,
Most of the ROMS available are based on 2.3, so consider going with CM7 if you like AOSP or Aura if you want blur
im not sure what a bootloader is all i can say i did was root my phone, then use that tutorial thats all iv done.. ohh ok so rather than being able to go back too a stable stock build i have to stay with roms full of bugs? :/
I'm gonna assume that you have tried a factory reset (most basic thing i could imagine)
I don't think that there are any SBFs for people with the T-mobile version, so i think the only thing you can do is either search for a removal tool or unlock the bootloader, install CWM recovery and then install a ROM.
You should read this. Or you can follow this video guide.
Actually, ROMs can often be very stable and offer way more functionality.
You could always grab a "stock" ROM and install that, should be as close to stable as you can get.
ohh ok well i already have CWM recovery install in my phone so i guess installing a stable rom would be the best option for me? until i can go back to stock by sbf
What version of CWM do you have? How did you install it?

Gingrrblur is not a real rom therefore you are not unlocked and do not have a full cwm that you can flash other roms with. Just use an sbf from the firmware thread to get you back to stock gb then if you want to find a radio corresponding to your area on the same thread. Both are flashed through rsd lite
sent from my Atrix via XDA premium
yes, Gingerblur is a pseudo-ROM (p-ROM) and from what I know, it doesn't touch alot of important parts of the phone, for example the bootloader.
I'm guessing your bootloader is exactly the same as a regular 2.2. I guess flashing the IHOP_Bell.sbf and then doing fastboot unlock should do the trick
ok we're getting somewhere
I kinda understand now so could you send me some links in the order I need to so each thing please? One thing I don't want to do is install software from at&t and then have the wrong radio lol from what IV found there's no T-mobile software but is some orange ones and seeing as tmobile and orange are the same company in the uk, so basically I could get official gingerbread software then a T-mobile radio software and put them both on my atrix now I just need to know how to do it

Hey guys,
I don't what happened, but after rooting the HTC One I was attempting to install the Viper ROM, and things just went downhill from there like my phone is stuck at the booting screen, and I can't do anything I have been here trying to figure out what to do. Anyone who knows what to do please tell me ASAP. I can't seem to be able to mount anything, and I tried downloading all kinds off softwares, doesnt seem to work. Please give me step by step instructions. I want to fix this ASAP. Hope my phone isnt bricked
Thanks, XDA
The viper Rom is for the sprint version of the HTC One only, go to the international version and flash a Rom from there, I'm personally using TrickDroid with Faux Kernel

you didnt mess anything up. when you open the toolkit at the bottom there should be a link to stock rom or you can flash any rom you want from there. there will also be instructions to do whatever you need to do down there

to use the all in one toolkit you will have to be in the bootloader in fastboot usb mode. if it say hboot at the top of the bootloader screen press power button once it should then say fastboot usb where hboot was
Just to confirm is this the toolkit we are talking about ? http://gyazo.com/24b0cb52eed94ca74237779c5f8f6eb9 . I regret doing this omg Why did I try to do this.
yup. where it says something about stock ruu zip thats the stock rom but it may be more difficult to flash that. easiest way would be to flash a custom rom or a stock rooted rom zip file
you shouldnt regret doing it. thats the beauty of android options customizations. its not hard just read before you flash
Ok, now I need to find that ROM, Im on Rogers network meaning I would gave to use the international one right ? and I cant find that. I clicked on flash stock and now its going to this black screen which says HTC in silver.
just stay away from sprint roms you can flash any other htc rom. international htc one thread has the most options though and sense based roms will give options for you carrier you just select tmo at&t or international in aroma. if you decide to go that way make sure to read the rom thread as aroma often freezes but there are things you can do to minimize them.

Well I just flashed a jellybean 4.1.2 ROM and it is working perfect. But I still want kitkat. I don't remember the name of the one I tried to flash. My main question is when I flash jb, ICS, or kitkat. Do they all just work after flash or do I need some kinda different boot thing like my HTC needed? Last thing is I could not find a flashable cwm recovery through Odin. Do I have to flash it with an app through the phone? PS: If it is as easy to flash things to this phone as easy as I think that would be awesome. So far I am LOVING THIS THING. Samsung might be my new favorite brand.. I had to do so many things to my HTC evo 3D just for custom kernels to be on it. Thanks for any help I get.

Update: Flashed cwm non touch recovery through the app. And I also flashed the candy shop kitkat 4.4.2 ROM, upon boot the WiFi would not work so I am back on the jb 4.1.2 ROM and I am now downloading hellybean jb 4.3 now. I wiped the data before I installed the kitkat ROM and there is no option in recovery to wipe the system so I guess every ROM I install it will overwrite which is kinda weird. I will try to flash the touch version of cwm later.. The one on the forum you gave me says access denied on my phone when I try to download the latest one. But It did work on my pc so I'll get it from there..

Glad your researching!
I also recommend reading the rom descriptions, and instructions. Some builders will clue you in as to which recovery to use, and what gapps need flashed.
I also recommend skimming thru the posts to see what issues other users may have had. They might of given you a clue as to why the Wi-Fi didn't work.

All I have done to the phone is root it and use Sunshine to do the S-Off.. I also read that OTA is not the best way to go.. So am I needing to un-root my device to get this new firmware ??.. I also seen where there was a Guru tool to show that my phone is back to locked and un-tampered to get OTA's ..But not sure if it works for the M8.. It is usually recommend to do a factory reset and if you can wipe all caches, doing the OTA and not doing this is like a dirty flash. I have always wiped after OTA since my HTC Aria days and have had no issues. in fact even using @Wonders_Never_Cease great roms after I debloat further to what I like I go in and zip align and wipe caches just for my peace of mind. :highfive:

It is usually recommend to do a factory reset and if you can wipe all caches, doing the OTA and not doing this is like a dirty flash. I have always wiped after OTA since my HTC Aria days and have had no issues. in fact even using @Wonders_Never_Cease great roms after I debloat further to what I like I go in and zip align and wipe caches just for my peace of mind. :highfive:
