I've got an HTC Evo 3D running MIUI 2.1.20. I've been having an issue lately that's spanned multiple roms on multiple phones. Every few minutes the phone will freeze a and eventually soft reset. This only occurs when the phone is sitting, or I am on the home screen. If I'm using an app on the phone it runs fine until I exit that app, at which point it will continue to run for a minute or two before soft resetting.
I've experienced this issue on both my Evo 3D and Evo shift. I've used Eternity and MIUI on the 3D, and MIUI and Synergy in the shift.
This is extremely annoying, as I can't go more than two or the minutes without this occurring.
Anyone have any ideas?

What Apps did you have installed that might have caused it?
Is the kernel undervolted?
How about non miui roms?

I've tried stock kernals a well as OC/UV kernals. I've also tried a few sense roms (fresh evo, Android Revolution, etc.).
I'm currently using MeanROM (found in the CDMA development section picture Evo 3D forums, I'll post a link momentarily) which, to my knowledge, uses the stock kernal from the latest htc firmware.
The problem persists in all roms
Edit: almost forgot, the issue occurs even on clean installs (data/cache wiped before flashing) so I'm assuming its not related to a specific app.
Would posting a logcat help?

Hey Fellas, i used Revolution to root my phone, i have since put many roms on my phone, the rom i currently have is shooter sense 3.0....i love the ROM its awesome, i am in a 4G coverage area and my 4G just says scanning but never connects, just says scannning, so i restored back to some stock rooted rom that i d/l online, 4g still doesnt work. so i then d/l the latest radio by Caulking or whatever, and still no 4G, just says scanning, oi am now back to the shooter sense 3.0 rom and still no 4G, and im in a 4G coverage area, how do i fix this?

Go into the setting click the system info or something and you will find a thing that says update profile. Click that and it should work

Had this same issue occur on my EVO4G, back in the day. Basically when they first were new. Messed around too much and somehow lost my WiMax keys. Since then I believe they've come up with several ways to repair the issue. What I did then was RUU back to factory, and start the whole root process over. That got my WiMax back.

Reset to factory RUU using the supersonic RUU utility, on the hboot screen it still says s-off and revolutionary at the top...Sole Conslusion is that this phone, per revolutionary CANNOT be unrooted, now that i have the bone stock rom on my evo, the 4G doesnt work, i know this because on the stock evo rom, while searching for 4g you get in the top left part of the screen it states "4G!" which means there is no 4G, well that little symbol is not on the top the screen in either my new rom or the stock rom, stating something is wrong with my 4G...i think i have a unique situation that i need to be fixed...and i cannot find a fix for this

i did, i ran RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253...same problem
Try flashing the pc36.img file from bootloader. Did u already try updating your prl?

i do sometimes see that when i go to an area where it would typically roam, it instead says 1X at the top, i will check to see this evdo thing you speak of right now
so i am on my 3rd evo lte and i left the last 2 refurbished stock and did not download any apps and i still get random restarts "8" today. Anyone else get these random restarts ?
I have one and so do my mom and we've never had a random reboot ever... She's stock and I'm rooted

I am rooted on Fresh's latest and I have gotten a few random reboots. Not more than one a day, but it is annoying.
Sense has a known problem of restarting basically when it feels like it. The next OTA to 4.0.4 will contain Sense 4.1 and JB had Sense 4.5, so expect significant improvements soon.

I had random reboot in my 2nd lte. A few times it would not restart. Missed a few calls..anyway lte 3 and all is good except can't root s off cause they ship the damn things with the ota

when turning on wifi, i get "error" and the wifi goes back to off,i am running jelly rooted gsm.
killing processes doesn't work, neither does restart,is there any way for me to fix this?

Sound like you are using a jelly bean rom, if you are most of them have multiple issues, read the op descriptions

So here is my dilemma. I got Ingress 2 weeks ago, sorry for those who haven't. I was on CM10, and I noticed the GPS wasn't working right, so I redownloaded the ROM and did a clean install. Still was a no go. I installed PacMan, same issue. I decided I would bite the bullet and try a Sense ROM. I installed SuperLTE and another one that I can't remember the name too. And with the Sense Roms GPS worked like a charm.... but LTE did not.
I have not been able to get LTE with a Sense ROM. But I get amazing LTE with stock JB Roms. First question is, has anyone else experienced this? The GPS works with Sense and LTE works with non sense Roms.
So my next question is, I can't get GPS on a stock ROM should I sacrifice Ingress for LTE?
And I noticed this started go happen right around the time I went S-off...

Did you do the well documented fix for GPS on AOSP, the one that involves flashing back to sense and getting a good lock and immediately flashing back to AOSP?

Have you tried updating all radios and prl/proflies on Sense prior to installing AOSP?
Are you carrying any app data back through restores?
I downloaded the latest CM10 nightly + fresh Gapps download. Turned on GPS opened Ingress, rebooted into recovery. Wiped everything under the sun.
Installed CM10 then Gapps and rebooted phone. It works like a charm. I always thought GPS icon was hidden in CM10 but now that I actually have it I see the icon lol

Was just curious if anyone could tell me if they even boot on the cdma variant? I'm aware the radios are entirely different so i wouldn't have service but is that the only problem?

The simple answer is don't flash gsm anything on cdma...
Even if you got one to flash, you would never have service. It's not even that the radios are different but the fact that they are two completely different network types. Incompatible.
So.. Insta-brick?

I don't think that flashing a rom would Perma brick the phone but you wouldn't want to flash a gsm hboot or radio I'd imagine. Dunno if you'd be able to recover from that
Don't take my word for it though, I can't guarantee a rom wouldn't brick...
Thanks, that basically what I was getting at. I had some thoughts about about trying to port a rom or 2 just messing around. I'm not really scared of bootloops as I can easily get out of that threw recovery. Just needed to know if there was something else I was missing.
Obviously I have no intentions of flashing gsm radios or anything that deep but I've been messing with system files long enough to attempt a port. Perhaps fail at getting it to boot but that doesn't bother me so long as I can still pull the battery and boot to hboot/recovery and flash a compatible rom or nandroid restore.

You have to modify updater-script before flashing, otherwise you'll install Rom in wrong partitions! Then you can flash whatever you want without major problems!
