Is there a setting to change so every time I download an app from the market it doesn't default to my home screen? I don't want a custom launcher because they slow down the system way too much and it kind of eliminates the point in ics IMHO.
Yep...Just go in to the settings of the market app and uncheck "Auto-Add Widgets"

I'd like to know if it's possible to create a proper shortcut to launch widgetlocker; I know there's an activity shortcut when adding it to desktop, but I'd like to start widgetlocker using the swipe up action of adw launcher and in order to do that it needs to be a simple shortcut to the app.
Anyone knows how to do that?

muy buena app
Hi, just Did that on my Defy. with Go Launcher, but should be the same with ADW
go to settings , select wipe up or down, then choose shortcut, there you should find an entry Widget Locker Lock now. Choose it. and you're done.
Thanks, but as I said before adw launcher lets me choose only from the installed apps (the ones which appear in the app drawer), therefore I cannot select "widgetlocker lock now".

Hi, that's because on ADW it's not in the apps section. Don't click "applications" on the main shortcut selection list. Just scroll down.
I just upgraded from a T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant SGH-T959
running android 2.2 Bionix-v 1.3.1 by Team Whiskey.
On the Vibrant rom, When I click the apps icon on the bottom my apps appear and the apps scroll vertically.
Is it possible for this Samsung Galaxy S ii SGH-I777 to set to also scroll the apps vertically?
I believe you need to install a launcher such as ADW or Launcher Pro to scroll the app drawer vertically.
If you open up the settings for the app drawer there is an option for view type, select alphabetical list and you will have vertical scroll.
settings for the app drawer? Where are the settings for the app drawer? How to access. I do not see anything called app drawer settings. Or are you talking about the Launcher Pro program?

open the app drawer and press the menu button. there is an option to have a list, instead of the grid. while the list does scroll vertically, it is individual, and not a 4x4 grid that will scroll like in sense. you can always try a 3rd party launcher, those will over ride the TW launcher and give you what you're looking for

Apps/Icons in drawer cannot scroll vertically unless you use a different launcher.
However you can change the app drawer to scroll vertically if you want to
change the view type to "Alphabetical List" where it has the icons on the
right side with full names of them in a row.
Go into the app drawer and click the menu key and select "view type" to
see what I meant.
I would suggest NOT to use a different launcher because the stock one
is a lot faster and very much smoother than any launcher I have tested
so far. (and I have tested just about all of them).
I wanna some pop up animation anybody pls help
It means pop up MENU come with down to up or something.....
use a launcher app like ADW EX, GO launcher, LauncherPRO
it has an option to change gesture in app drawer
Settings > Display > Animations.
It's disabled by default so this might have an impact on battery life, but I'm not really sure.
I wanna know if there's an app that can allow me to change the displayed icon for apps in the app drawer, the same way ADW launcher EX, Launcher Pro and Go launcher EX allow you to change the icon of an app on your home screen, by just long pressing it to change it's icon.
I'm using ADW launcher EX, and i'm aware you can download themes and change the icons, but most of the time, they don't have half the icons for my apps and i have icon image files ready which i'd like to change the apps too.
I'm aware of this method, but i don't want to be playing with the apps themselves, just wondering if there's a simple app for changing the icons in the app drawer?
I have a new android phone. I really want to get rid of the horrible stock launcher however I cannot. In application management when I find this piece of stock launcher the clear defaults is grayed out (I am 100% sure this is the launcher). Default management apps show this launcher as the default but again 'clear default' is grayed out. Opening Nova launcher and going into the nova settings and clicking 'set as default launcher' sends me back to stock launcher and has not set the default launcher. At this point I am getting more interested in whether my phone blends or not.
I have tried a bunch of launchers and still I can't set any of them as my default. If they try to set themselves as the default launcher while in them it just quits back to stock launcher. In an application default chooser app that should show the launchers I could be able to use it only had the stock launcher and I cannot unset it, for all other apps it works just fine.
After some testing it looks like the phone does not recognize any launchers (other than stock) and treats them as if they are any other app.
