Xperia Update to ICS and Kernel Question... - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Edited:
Ok, so I unlocked the phone now, and I installed this rom:
tp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200675
But the kernel still doesn't seem to allow wireless tethering.
Any ideas?

Ok, here it is.
There is an article stating that the Xperia series won't receive a new Kernel:
"Sony Ericsson Developer Karl-Johan Dahlström has confirmed that the company’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update will use the same linux kernel that it is currently using for existing software. The Xperia Android 2.3.4 software is using the 2.6.32 linux kernel (as is the alpha ICS ROM from Sony Ericsson) and it was hoped that the final ICS update would use a newer kernel"
Since I am a noob in all phone development stuff, let me ask you these basic and simple questions:
The current kernel version of my phone is 2.6.29
So when Sony will release the ICS update, will my phone's kernel be updated to 2.6.32 ? Or will it stay as it is?
And also, is kernel 2.6.32 enough to allow features like Native Wifi Tethering, Sending apps to SDCard, etc...?
In short will the ICS update allow the xperia mini to support those features, or shall I forget about the update and flash some roms and kernels?
thanks for answers.

There won't be any updates here at all... They don't care about Xperia 2010 phones anymore. It's all for 2011/2012 phones ONLY.

The Xperia Mini is a 2011 phone.

I think I got mine in 2010...

The Xperia Mini is, but the Xperia X10 mini isn't.
If you have an Xperia Mini you should check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1239

I have a X10 mini a.k.a. E10i, and it was released in March, 2010.
I assumed it was _this_ mini we where talking about since the post was in the "XPERIA X10 Mini Q&A" part of the forum.

Xperia mini is not XPeria X10 mini?

Exactly. Blame them for naming it and not supporting it.

Checked. Sony is getting more and more stupid. Xperia Mini 2, was somehow named as just "Xperia Mini". It's not even available in my Country.
total confusion.

2010. Xperia X10 Mini (no more updates)
2011. Xperia Mini (update to ics)

I have a question. Is SE planning release ics for x10 mini? Or it will have Eclair forerver?
Eclair forever, only 2011 devices will get updates to ICS

eclair forevarrrr at least that you use a custom rom.
use a custom rom.
Ics Works well On X10 mini Or Not?
nAa's ICS Works Too Good As Per Many Devs But Hw Acceleration is not there When It's expected to Be Stable....??
It is expected to be stable as soon as nAa posts that the issues are fixed
No ETA's, it will be ready when it's ready.
No way. No ICS. No GB. Only Eclair from SE but everything from xda !
X10 Mini Pro was abandoned by Sony Ericsson a long time ago. This phone was released with Android 1.6,and in 2011 skipping Android 2.0 Sony Ericsson updated us to 2.1.1.Then,SE started to release Xperia ARC,Xperia Play,Xperia Mini and all of the others of the 2011 line.Froyo was skipped. All of them shipped with Gingerbread. Then,ICS came out for them.No ICS for us from Sony Ericsson. There is ICS for us from XDA,I think that Jelly Bean will come too!nobodyAtall along with paul-xxx and some others with many knowledge can do ANYTHING!I believe in them.
So,X10 line (except X10) gets stuck at Eclair.
In order for updating you need to unlock your bootloader (first you have to make sure it's safe to do so,you may lose capability of radio,i mean radio for music and radio for calls!) and then flash E10i_nAa-ics_02.ftf and MiniCM9-3.0.1-robynn.zip and voila!A partially (I use it everyday, even though it's slow as hell ) working ROM on E10i!(I have U20)

[Q] is there any flashable stock firmwares for x10 mini?

i want gingerbread 2.3 sony stock rom , is there any flashable zip files for it ? or atleast i want the stock firmware download link? can someone plzzzz giv me that
All 2010 devices from sony ( x10, x8, x10 mini, x10 mini pro and whatever i forgot to mention ) have been given an update to Android 2.1 (Eclair) and that's it.
There is no Stock Rom for our devices from there on, so no Froyo or Gingerbread. The reason this site exists is to allow us to bypass the limitations set by the hardware manufacturers and run software beyond what they give us.
So, if you want Froyo or Gingerbread.. run a custom rom, you can find many of them in the development section of this forum. If you want Gingerbread or ICS stock.. buy a newer device from Sony

Just in case you're not aware of it, your phone needs an unlocked bootloader to do that, pay very close attention to see if your simlock-certificate is supported, otherwise you will lose the capability to use it as a phone.
Kernel: nAa kernel for gingerbread
Rom:MiniCM7-2.2.0
Sony style: Sony Ericsson Stock Mod
Have fun with it

X10 Mini and Mini Pro ****ing up while running ICS...

so, here goes : my dad's X10 mini and my friend's X10 Mini Pro seem to struggle to run ICS. i installed the right files on both, unlocked the boot loader, installed the latest nAa and so on. but all the ICS roms i try to run seems garbled. touch screen doesn't work properly, rotation doesn't work and much more. sometimes even the resolution is off. can anybody help me ?
Kind regards,

For X10 Mini Pro, use this Kernel and ROM
Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636504
ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636501
works perfectly or almost ^^

absolutely sure i did, at least on my dad's phone. i don't think i flashed nAa 04 on my pal's, but that was because that version hadn't been released at the time.

thanks a bunch, but i only have access to a x10 mini at the time of writing. just to avoid confusing you, i only used the appropriate files for the x10 mini, (strictly from the x10 mini, not pro forums) and strictly the files from the pro forums for the x10 mini pro.
This forum is used for both models Xperia X10 Mini and Xperia X10 Mini Pro
But if you need only the files of X10 Mini, here they are:
Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630023
Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629334
=).. I hope this time I could help you more!

Upgrade Sony Ericsson XPERIA Mini ST15i from 2.3 to 4.0

Howzit going guys.Im in the process of UPDATING my old Sony Xperia mini X10 (served me well for 5 years) to a newer Sony Ericsson XPERIA Mini ST15i
My question is, Do I just plug it in to my Sony companion and it will upgrade by itself or do I have to do some rooting and stuff?
According to Sony Ericsson XPERIA Mini ST15i specs it is running on 2.3(Gingerbread) right now but upgradeable to 4.0 ( I beleive Ice cream sandwich)
My main purpose is to maybe speed it up a bit plus theres so many apps that requires Android 3.0 and above so just staying with 2.3 my apps are limited
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks folks
Congrats for your upgrade yes. Just plug it and PC companion will ask you to update. Performance wise actually gingerbread is faster, but ICS is the bare minimum for todays app compatibility soo yeah just upgrade it.

Thank you very kindly. I am going to do that soon as I get the new phone

Guys!!! Xperia mini pro sk17

Hello guys! U believe it or not I still use my Xperia mini pro and I have cianogen mod 2,1 android. Is there any good working ROM etc etc to resurrect it again? (I have other phones too) but I love this little guy
There's a new compact Xperia to be released tomorrow. I don't think it'll be as compact as the Xperia mini pro though. The only 11 year old phone I know of which is still seeing recent development is the Samsung Galaxy SII i9100.

Well, believe it or not, you're not the only one I'm still using Xperia Mini as my main phone actually (never had the Pro version, thinking also of getting one to play with it, but I love my Mini and will probably never replace it).
I might help you with your request, tell me which ROM would you like to try, for Marshmallow (Android 6) or Lineage (Android 7)? You can PM me also if you like.
I love these little devices of mine, but unfortunately I no longer use them because there is not enough space (storage):
1. I definitely want to write with them 2. and with my goddaughter / niece (who saw them and wants to use one when we spend time together)
The problem is that I no longer remember how to root. The factory ROM can be enough for me and I can remove the excess to have minimal storage space, I want to write (text editor, maybe e-mail) and e.g. Total Commander sw and possibly retro games designed for this screen resolution... : )))
Please help me with this! I might also be interested in a custom ROM. 8)
Best regards,
John

This phone is perfect and I wish for a re release..thank you for ur help!! Well from both sound good! I have cyanogen mod 2.1 and old recovery and non tutorials any more out there. U have any tutorial?
I've never stopped using this phone since I bought one many years ago.... I've had more than I can remember... I dont need apps, chat, BS.... just calls, text and camera (and some internet... google search etc) and of course, a keyboard. This phone is perfection.
It still looks like a modern phone today, in fact it looks more modern than the latest phones, I always have people aask me about my phone.
Anyway, I recently lost mine and had to get a replacement and I lost my HDD that contained all of the old firmware.
I'm looking for the stock .587 FW with android ICS: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-sk17-mini-pro-4-1-b-0-587-generic-version.1907994/
But all links are dead and I cant find it anywhere online. Does anyone still have it?
