Hey i want upgrade from my GB rom to ICS, but whenever i try to Flash an ICS ROM after a full clean wipe, i get alot of crashes! so i revert back to GB! is there something iam missing here? do i need to take an extra precaution before installing the ICS rom?
Mate, its still in alpha stage, not even beta. It's being careless on your behalf for not using search function. You would have known this. Come back April for a stable ICS release.

Probably forgot to wipe. It's the no.1 source of FCs after installing a rOM.

Hundreds of people have shifted to ICS, and you can see developers claiming their ROM's to be stable! thats why i chose to make a move towards ICS when the developers have released about 8 iterations of their original ROM!

Trust me, i factory wipe it twice before flashing a new ROM, that cant be an issue! and if you read the OP, my mobile is crashing, iam not getting any FC's but instead, the mobile gets stuck!
I have had my mobile turning itself off very often since I started "testing" ICS roms. I now have Westcrips 8.4 which is supposed to be one of the best ones and it turned itself off today
I think it might be because it's so cold here ATM (-24c)
I am using ics one month ago and i dont have so much force closes. Currently i use resurrection 8.4 and not bad. My advise is to wipe first data. After cache and after dalvic. Then install room and then it should work. Remeber this rooms are for modwl gt-i9100
You should factory wipe AFTER installing the new rom dude.

GingerBread.
For many "upgrading" will be a lateral shift with possible signs of regression peppered with moments of brilliance (if I die tomorrow please engrave preceding quote on my grave stone). For others it's the best thing since some genius decided to cut bread before selling it. For yet others, they'll think that it's as good of an idea of swallowing thumb tacks.
That said, I'm on CM9 (01292012 build) and have been on CM9 since late December. Gingerbread no longer stands a chance, and as usual no Samsung thank you very much.

Hi guys, after a little patience I'm now very interested in ics upgrade.
My s2 runs kk5 stock rooted cause I don't wanna miss features like mhl tv-out.
So my doubts are:
Is possible to flash kp8 with mobileodin?
What about bootloader? Jig still working?
To switch back to kk5 restore nand backup is enough or also other needs to be downgraded?
Thanks.
Best regards,
Jussy.

Then i suggest you wait until it officially comes out rather than flashing a leaked version that isn't finished. Until it comes out you can read the faq's on here and familiarize yourself with flashing.
The current ics leaks and cm9 are both not really ready to be daily drivers due to instability and missing features, only try if you know what you are doing, if you are use you want to try, make sure to take a nandroid and read the relivent threads.

Downgrade then root then restore .

Thanks for your fast and kind reply.
I'll wait for a stable release.
I have KK5 stock and rooted using cfroot kernel with the old jig compatible bootloader as my favourite firmware.
I also have been using cm9 which I like a lot. The missing features and bugs don't effect my daily usage.
I never flashed the ics bootloader and never experienced any problems.
I made a backup of kk5 via CWM and flashed cm9 then gapps then faceunlock then wiped as directed in cm9 1st post. Setup my phone how I wanted it then when I was happy with everything I made a backup via CWM of cm9.
Ive been restoring either KK5 or cm9 via CWM and so far not had any hassles flipping between them.
When I want to checkout a new version of cm9 ive been able to restore my CWM backup of cm9 then flash New version then flash gapps then faceunlock then wipe cache. This has not wiped my cm9 setup and data and all has been good to use. No FC etc.
Hope this helps.

Can anyone tell me how to get this ROM working its really cool but I don't know how to fix the force closing or I don't really understand it I'm a noob thanks in advance
First, did you fully wipe before flashing? Second, all ICS roms are still in Alpha, meaning you WILL have bugs like that. Nothing you can do about it until we get an official ICS build to go off of.

Points to this dude they are very alpha build , maybe a fix permissions in recovery and a cache wipe. Other than that if they aren't dominant apps just uninstall them

i have flashed 3 jb roms all have lags n bugs and ended up formatting my card and titanium backup,my question is that only perfet roms shoud be allowed on s3 as its not any ordinary phone, its worlds best and it ...ks when in a rom camera fc games fc etc.swiched back to hi rom.
Firstly the ROM didn't wipe your sdcard, you did.
Secondly I have been running the second leaked JB ROM since it dropped yesterday morning and I have no problems whatsoever with it.
Finally, this is xda developers, not xda-fully stock, completely finished ROMs service, you are looking for samfirmware.com.
Edit: a little addendum, why the hell did you post this in q&a?
Where's the damn question??

The JB Update is still Test but the features and general running of the ROM are FAR better than ICS! there are still bugs as its not an official release (wait until next week for official) but to be honest the bugs are not too serious!! Id say get over to Omega ROM and try V15 when its released today you will not be disappointed!

Please read the sign on the top of the page XDA Developers forum .
No rom is perfect and if you want no risk then do not ever use stuff from XDA sticking to official stock firmware .
But note when you finally leave school you may have enough knowledge to come back to XDA .

No, you need to wait for your region. You can of course flash one of the releases but you may get problems and end up having to wipe the phone to solve them.
You can get everything back except for your settings. You'll have to do the dance but everything else is recoverable.

I always find it best to wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik at a minum but before that you could always backup your apks and data using titanium backup or Mybackup root
flashed the swedish JB stock rom over the UK 4.04 stock rom earlier today. Doesnt seem to have given me any issues so far and all my settings have remained. Ill full wipe if i start getting any problems but so far everythings fine

I have an OTA update of about 25 mb but, it gets stuck at 25% & ultimately fails after reboot.. Tried either stock recovery or unrooted condition but, no joy.. Should I have both conditions at the same time or is something else the culprit. ?? Note that, I have installed Vertumus JB Domination theme which might've modified the build.prop...
I have a UK Samsung S3 andn ever since i updated to the jelly bean provided by samsung my phones been lagigng like when i open my messages it takes sometimes 5 seconds to open up when it didnt before and even opening things on my phone its lagging
i now have a custom rom which is android revolution HD 15.1 android version 4.1.1 kernel 3.0.31-411425
Any advice?
Thanks
Same here.. Don't get why..
very strange because it was fine before i updated to jelly bean and after that thats when it started lagging and i have the same apps on as i had before
Ditto.. In fact I deleted some!
Yup same here. It's just Jelly Bean mate. In my opinion ICS was much faster and more responsive.

Have you tried changing the kernel? Maybe try the Perseus Kernel? Lagging might be kernel related.. Or can try to superwipe everything, then flash the ROM again..
I have used ARHD 15 and now on ARHD 16, everything fine & smooth.. of course I did superwipe if changing to new base.
Hope this help..

It's nothing to do with kernel. It's because the messages application is getting unloaded and loading it up takes more time in JB. I think there are mods that will make it so messages application will persist in memory, so it will be opened like instantly. Have to search forums here in XDA to find it... Same for contacts and phone apps.
same
Same here. I think the problem is the Jelly Bean version made by Samsung. With 4.1.2 is the same. Dialer, contacts and messages take 2-3 seconds to load
The same thing on my dialer and messages..slower compared to ICS

wipe before install and wipe a few times after install..still the same..
Didn't try any other JB releases, just the latest leak (ELK4 i think). Did an upgrade without even wiping directly from ICS. My phone is BY FAR more responsive and faster. Wasn't expecting it either, specially without wiping. But it did. So, not sure what you're using for a rom, but if you haven't give this one a try. Haven't done any further modding, it's all "stock", including kernel. Am using exDial though - all the stock's funcions, double the speed.
The only thing that lags is swype but only when i change languages. But since this is a leak test version running swype which is, in itself, a beta app, i'm not complaining. Everything else is just awesome, even in multiwindow.
Your solution buddy

try reseting your settings and if you can factory reset that would be even better but reseting your setting won't damage your data but your wifi profiles will be wiped so as your Bluetooth paired devices...lets say you just have to reconfigure you're device's settings. click thanks if I helped
