Hi,
I have used a SD card adapter which has an 16GB microSD card inside it. The card doesn't show in the Settings->Storage. Can anyone help me?
first of all, make sure the card is formated in FAT32.
The tablet won't read it if it's not.

The SD card will never show there. It's not a part of the system storage.
Mine is plugged in now and you can only use the preloaded sony software 'file transfer' to move files to and from it.
The app 'file manager HD (honeycomb) ' by RHYTHM from the market is a must have if you own this tablet and an SD card!! You can still load all your videos and extra files on the SD and view/use them with that application without having to copy them to the system. I use it as the time

I've actually gone back from ES to Astro again. Once you change the settings to make the SD and USB shortcuts point to the right place, the experience is really effortless and seamless. Just my $0.02 obviously.
Ihad the same problem with my 32gb sd card until I formatted it, but now I have only 3.2gb left internally and no way to transfer my game files over to improve the internal memory.OMG.
What wereSony thinking of, I woulde never have bought this if I only had 8.5gb of space.

You must have filled her up hard? I got 3.3GB+5.4GB free on my two "internal" and about 25GB free on my 128GB SDXC card.
lol, yeah, pretty hard. GTA3, brothers in arms and adrenalin 6 are only a few. When i used my Dell Streak I used my 32gb class 10 card and it was half full with games.
I am now having to be a little more selective with what I put on, which isn't that hard since a lot of the games are having incompatibility issues.

I got like 7 psone games and five others on my tablet and still a lot of space. I guess mine is kinda small compared to yours. But the psone at least take a few hundred mb each.
don't know if you already solved your problem but I've inserted a brand new sandisk sdhc card and it wans't recognized either. Then I've tested a lexar sdhc card and no good either.
Conclusion to get recognized:
Open "file transfer" app it's one of your sony s apps
then insert the sdcard and automagically the sdcard was recognized and I can use it
It seems stupid but worked

when i click on avatar it says "file not found". Is anyone else having this problem or is there a specific way to play it? thanks.
Did you remove or format the 2gb SD card that came with the phone? It was on there.
Do you have USB debugging enabled? Make sure that is disabled and try it. If that doesn't work reseat your micro sd card and you should be able to play avatar again...
Yes you were right. I removed the SD card and put my 16 gb one from my G1. I would've figured the avatar movie was on the phone. Thanks for the info
Avatar is the ONLY thing not on the phone's internal memory.
Which, IMO, is how it should be. What a waste of a gig and a half.
Wait, so after you swapped the memory cards the Avatar icon still shows up on the applications list even though there is no movie anymore. That's rather silly an a bit annoying. That movie is a fun thing to showcase the screen but who wants to keep it around forever. I was hoping that after I swap the card for a bigger one the phone would recognize that it is gone and the shortcut to it would be gone too. Is there a way to uninstall it?
I'm pretty sure you can just drop the shortcut into the garbage. I'm not sure if there is a way to uninstall it yet as I haven't done that.

1. Root
2. rm -r /system/app/Avatar.apk
3. rm -r /system/app/Avatar.odex
4. Enjoy.
I had the same issue. Called Tmo and they couldnt help. Called Samsung, and they said that if you remove the SD card, it will remove the file. Rep said he was going to send a new Memory card with it installed. Oh and yeah the Avatar Icon stays even if the file is gone. I'm not done showing off the screen yet, the movie looks so sick on it haha.

Just pull out the 2 gig card, put your 16 gig in the phone, hook them both up to your pc and drag the entire "movie" folder to your 16 gig card. I did this and it plays with no problem . Still can't find a player that will support the dcf file format on my pc though...

Have you tried RealPlayer? I have not tried it but I heard that it'll play .dcf files.
I have put a Kingston 8gb in my HTC HD2. Managed to add 3.3 GB of music (synced through WMP on pc). This all worked fine initially on wmp and sense player on phone. However I don't appear to be able to add any more music. There are errors in sync or sync says ok but wmp or sense on phone cant see or play the new music files. There are usually folders within file explorer which apparently contain all the tracks added including album art but these cannot be played (i've tried Nitrogen as well) or play only a few seconds of the track which then constantly repeats.
Anybody got any ideas of a fix for this?
OS version 5.2.21913
Rom 3.14.405.2
Radio version 2.15.50.14

Yep, tracks appear in windows explorer but will not play.
Try deleting "AudioManager_Eng.vol" in "/Application Data/HTC/AudioManager_Eng/". You may have to restart the phone to delete it because the sense player locks the file when its running.

I've done this, but now HTC music player cannot find files at all. Win and nitro player can. I tried syncing new tracks again but neither player can play them, although apparently they can see them.
Have you tried running chkdsk on the sd card when the phone is in disk drive mode. File System Issues can sometimes cause these problems.

How do I do this?
Right Click on the "Removable Disk" in "Computer" that represents the sd card. Click "Properties" then go to the "Tools" tab and under "Error Checking" click "Check now...". Make sure that "Automatically fix file system errors" check box is ticked and click "Start".
Done that, found one error in folder fixed. However makes no difference to adding any more music.
Is the music your trying to copy the same format as the music that plays and what is that format?
Yes same format, ripped to WMA variable bit rate
Can you confirm the files are being copied correctly and not becoming corrupt when they reach the sd card. I take it they play fine on the PC. Try using HashCalc from SlavaSoft to generate the checksum of one of the music files on the PC and then the same music file when it is on the sd card. If you have just copied the file to the sd card then remember to eject the sd card, take it out and plug it back in before generating the checksums. Compare the checksums and if they are different then the file has become corrupt when it reaches the sd card.
Done this, file appears originally on file explorer on phone sd, but vanishes after eject/replace. Calculated prior to eject totally different numbers, eject/replace deletes file, leaving empty folder.
Is there any value in syncing to sd in card reader directly?
Ive tried straight copy / paste without success.

Sounds to me it is time for a new SD card. You should not be having this much trouble with a good SD card.
Yes it is some value in using a SD card reader to transfer data to a SD card. For that is the only function ofcthe SD card reader is to read data on the card, write datacfrom your computercto the card, or write data from the card to your computer nothing else. Your HD2 has all kinds of things going on while you use it for USB mass storage. Also if you try a SD card reader and have the same problem you are pretty much assured the SD card is shot. Unless you reformat the SD card with the reader and it will work then. If it still exhibits the same behavior after reformatting it is a bad SD card. Google Panisonic SD card formatting software and download and use it to reformat your SD card. Do a full wipe and use Fat 32.
I reformatted and then I tried using card reader, OK until 3gb ish (of 8) was used. Then errors started. Mix of files (wma, wav etc) using winamp to sync. One error is that Nitro played tracks but it appeared that one track would be repeated. The card is only about a week old.
Is there an issue due to mix of os, windows 7 on pc and windows mobile 6.5 on phone?
Would upgrading phone to Win 7 sort the problem?

Changing over to WP7 would probably only enhance your problem seeing as WP7 uses your SD card as internal memory.
Where did you purchase the SD card? Something tells me it wad online.
It was online, Ebay Pureprices. Kingston though, proper packaging, I'd have thought it would be ok.
I copied some more to the card in phone, tried to play them with card reader, explorer/winamp sees them but will not play, other files previously copied do play.

Well I can't say for sure but I do suspect you were sold a bogus SD card. Even if it was in the right packaging yhat is still not a roper assurence thatcit is logit now. The internet scammers are getting realky good now days. They probably sold you a SD card that is actually only like 4 gig and made it look like a 8gig. I have even heard of people getting SD cards that were sold as 32gig and werecactually only 2gig. You can do some googling and see if you can find some software that will tell you the true size of the card and class also.
This is interesting, I summed the reported file sizes on the card amounting to 2026 mb. the phone (settings sd card and phone storage) reports 7852 mb total 3003 used. This is echoed by my computer when read via the phone and by card reader. I know cards are reported as slightly less capacity (?setup files) but not more than 1/2.
I found this site http://fightflashfraud.wordpress.co...ld-standard-in-detecting-fake-capacity-flash/
any ideas of its veracity?
There is a link on this site regarding fake Kingston cards on Ebay, that seller however had poor feedback, the seller of this card is 100% positive feedback, and only appears to be selling 8gb+ cards and 250+ of them in the last month.

Man nice find I will be downloading that for myself. Kudos to you.
From the results hou got there I think it is pretty safe to say you got a bogus SD card. Not neccasaraly defending the seller you bought it from. But they may have been as much a victum of someone selling them the bogus card too. I know a lot of things are cheaper online but I think I will just have to go down to my local Best buy and get me a SD card. Just to much of a risk to buy some stuff on line.
Did anyone experienced this annoying problem ?
I got twice almost all video files deleted from my microsd card, why ??
Nope! Not had a single problem...
1, what kind of SD card are you using, (Brand, speed)
2, how are you transferring the files to the Flyer.
3, what apps do you have on your Flyer...
Any of the above three may contribute to your problem so a little more info may get some answers...
I used a Microsd HC 32gb Transcend, but I can say that I had a problem like that even with a 16Gb TDK.
I use AndroExplore to surf the folders and I use vPlayer to watch movies.
Essentially I have only avi and mkv files on the card.
I transferred these files connecting flyer to my pc.
The very strange thing is that I have a root directory, and subdir named film, and under this one I've got something like 15 subdir with all the movies.
After the disaster I found all the directories with some of them completely empty and some other with 1 of two files, and the others completely safe.
Very very strange, and I'm really afraid to discover this situation when I will be in vacation next week. This should be a nightmare for me !!!
First thing you want to do is check your microsd for errors. Either remove it, stick it in your computer and run chkdsk /x on it, or hook the flyer up via usb cable, wait for the microsd to mount and run chkdsk /x on it. Then you want to back up the microsd to your computer. With the flyer hooked up via usb, simply drag the ext_sd folder to your hard drive. Microsd card reliability isn't quite there yet; that's why I have my eye on tablets that can take full-size SD cards.

i thought I'm getting crazy, but looks like is real...it happened to me couple weeks ago; some video file was missing, and that time I just ignored....so it happened...
I have a microSD 16GB sandisk class 2.......from long time ago. I think is time for renew...
I don't think it can be only a micro sd problem. When a memory card fail the file remain often incomplete on the memory card. In this case they simply disappear all together. Not one, not a directory...it sounds more about a software bug, in a program like Androexplorer or a video player which scan the sd before showing the list. Is it possible to have a bug like this ??
and what about advanced task killer pro ? I keep it always in memory, but sometimes maybe it is dangerous to use for the temp memory, isn't it ?
Does anybody know if I can set readonly all the files to avoid this problem ?
Do you think it can be a good trick ?
I know this is an old thread but I experienced this same problem just now. OP and I could have a common app that did this by accident (bug).

That behavior is by design and won't be easy to change it. If you root your phone and add some mods to it, you could store app on your external sd, but I think it's more work than what you get in return because you won't be filling up your internal sd before other things start to break. I am assuming you are storing everything else (i.e. music and photo files) on the external card, though.

We established this in another thread about a month ago. With the introduction of Android 4.0, Google decided to change the way mounts work in Android. Google, assuming that microSD card would be phased out in the introduction of larger capacity internal storage phones without microSD slots, decided to make the internal eMMC storage be named 'sdcard', since most apps already used the 'sdcard' location for saving data, and name a real SD card 'sdcard2', also reachable by a folder in 'sdcard' name 'sd_ext'.
The largest phone out there right now that I know of has 64GB total of internal storage, while phones like ours only have 8GB total, with about half being taken up by the system, necessitating the usage of a real SD card for storage. The /data partition on our phone only has about 1GB available, and a dozen medium-sized apps and their data will use that up quickly. In short, there's no way to install apps to the real SD card since ICS, and once your eMMC 'sdcard' fills up, you're out of luck. A large oversight, in my opinion, by Google and HTC.
If our phone had 16GB of internal storage, we might not have that problem nearly as quickly, but games like DEAD Trigger, which is nearly 200MB, will quickly fill up our phone.
Basically, pick and choose the apps you want carefully, and keep the eMMC 'sdcard' partition as empty as possible, aside from your larger apps.

When you move an app to 'Phone storage', it saves in the eMMC internal storage '/sdcard/.android_secure/' folder as a '.asec' file. In my testing, if you move it to actual SD card, that is '/sdcard2/.android_secure/', it won't recognize it. It displays 'Application not installed' when clicking on the app to run it. The Android system saves the pointer to the apk, whether it's saved in '/data/app' or '/sdcard/.android_secure/', and that's the only place it will look for it. You can't move it to the real SD card unless someone else has found a workaround, and I haven't heard of it if the have. I'll find the link to our previous discussion and post it.
