Connected to wifi just fine after installing 0.6 alpha, then noticed I didn't have the market. I downloaded gapps and reboot my touchpad to notice it won't connect to wifi. Sometimes the status doesn't even change to 'Connecting...' After clicking connect.
Any suggestions as to what I could try?
Try fixing permissions through CWM. If that doesn't work wipe everything and reinstall. I'm running ICS and have no problems.
Thanks for replying, the first time I just re installed cm9. I ran into the problem again and fixed it by forgetting all the networks then turning wifi off and then on again
Cool. Glad you fixed the problem

When I got my 70S a few weeks ago, everything was working great. I installed the latest firmware that was suggested right when I first booted and connected to WiFi, then installed market from one of the packages floating around here, installed some stuff... everything worked fine, I could see all of my network shared files through the built in file manager, etc... only I installed the wrong version of the gapps addon and so I couldn't get the YouTube app to work. So I found the right one, and wiped the device to install it properly. After the wipe, the Archos stopped connecting to my WiFi network. I didn't even install the addon yet; it was connecting, start loading a page in the browser, and then get stuck halfway through. If I connect to a different network, an open one, it works. But my network - no go. Shared folders don't work either.
Now I've read that there are some issues with the Archos and my router (a D-Link DIR-615), but the damn thing worked like a charm before the wipe! I tried everything. I tried wiping again (twice), I've tried disabling the powersave option, I tried installing urukdroid - I always get the same result. After connecting, it would load one page (google) and then the connection would hang, and load no more.
Anyone have a solution?.. Maybe some router settings? I've tried changing everything and anything that may be relevant, but nothing seems to have any effect of it. Help!
Have you tried -
1) Hard reset on your router and reconnecting?
2) Disabling the security on your router, forgetting the router in wifi manager, then reconnecting?
I tried forgetting the router, naturally. However, I did not try to hard-reset the router yet... I'll try that, thanks.
Hi there =)
I've a very puzzling problem with my phone ..
it's started two days ago .. I was reading my mail then suddenly the wifi turned off and start again, but it stopped at 'Obtaining IP address...'
I thought maybe it's router problem, so i restart the router but still the same problem .. then I turned off the phone and took off the battery and tried again .. nothing
then I changed the router to another one .. but still the same thing
removed the password from the router, tried IP address,
I tried 3 applications : FXR WiFi fix and rescue, Fix My WiFi, WiFi Fixer
but nothing worked ..
I've root, so I flashed the original kernel, then the last thing I tried is Factory reset
wiped all the data and cashed .. but none of it helped
I'm using the ROM JPKJ2 2.3.5
any suggestions that may help ?!!!
happens to me at times...
do you have more than one router/switch in your house?
Install wifi analyer (or equivalent) and check which channel your router is using..
is there any overlap with say your neighbours router?
try changing the radio channel on your router or it is has a smart channel switching setting enable it.

it's not a router issue .. I went to a friend's house and tried to connect to his router but it's the same thing .. stuck with 'Obtaining IP address...'
my flat-mate also have SGS2 but the wifi works good with him, I also tried the tethering from his phone to mine .. and it didn't work =/
thanks for your reply =)
Flash a different modem not kernel first .
jje
I just flashed the entire rom .. and it worked =D
but still want to know what caused the problem !! =/
thank you guys =)
How weird????
I experienced the same thing last night, in the troubleshooting that I have done, the WiFi would stop connecting after I tried installing the Roboto Font using Font Installer, it first occurred when I upgraded to KK5 from KJ3, I didn't like the font so I went ahead customizing my device to my usual standards then realized that the WiFi was not connecting, it was stuck on Obtaining IP Address.
I decided to factory reset, nothing, so I flashed back to KJ3 and it was working again, I was relieved, so I installed Jkays Mods and also the Roboto font and Speedmod Kernel, woke up in the morning to the WiFi not connecting again, so I flashed KJ3 with Odin and it connected, I flashed CF Root KJ3 and it was still working, I installed Jkays Mods and it was still working and when I installed the font using the app, it stopped working again, so I flashed KJ3 through Odin again, then flashed CF root and it was still working, this time I used font installer to install Roboto font before Jkays Mods and again my Wifi was stuck at obtaining IP address.
So I flashed KJ3 again and it was working, then CF Root and Jkays Mods and all is well so far, but I fear that it can happen again as I have no idea what is really causing it, and I can't make the connection between the app Font Installer installing the Roboto font and my WiFi being borked...
What were you doing exactly before it stopped connecting....
there's something wrong !!!
the first time I had the problem I was just reading an email from my teacher using Gmail, nothing weird ... now after I solved the problem by flashing the rom I start restoring my apps using My Backup Pro, then i restart the phone and the problem return !!!!
there isn't any new app, all the apps was working well without causing ay problem.
so i flashed the rom again without wiping any data .. my apps still there and the problem solved !!!!
Thus far, it seems the issue for me was the Font installer, I still don't think that I am in the clear, so I would use my phone normally, maybe something will reveal itself with patience
I will keep the variables to a minimum, use the phone normally and finish installing all of my apps, if my phone continues to work okay, I will try a custom kernel and so on and so on, it is good to know that the issue goes away when a stock ROM is flashed though, hopefully that will not change

I'm having the exact same problem with Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 stable. I downloaded daily 116 but found that if I just reflashed the 7.1.0 .zip the wifi would start DHCP association negotiation successfully again.
The problem for many seems to be related to updating busybox installer by Stericson
Just flash over the original rom and don't update busybox

it happened again, but this time I only flashed the modem file from the stock ROM and it worked =)
you don't have to flash the entire ROM

good to know, thanks bro =)
i installed cyanogen 7.2( the newest ) on my galaxy 5 i5500
but i turn on the wifi, it will auto close(the wifi is on but there is no wifi icon on the status bar and cannot browsing internet anymore, it is needed to restart the wifi(close and open again)) after i locked(blackscreen) about 5min
it is a big problem when i downloading some apps from market (my line is slow about 40kb/s only) therefore i needed to wait it but it is auto close.....
hope u understand what i m saying, because my english is bad and i m from malaysia
If you have the problem only when you have installed the cyano rom, try to do a wipe data and a wipe cache and re-flash the phone with the cyano, remember to install also the latest hotfix for the version that you have.
I have the same problem with official I5503TTLPJP9 ROM (Telstra).
Need to switch WIFI off and on again every time I need Internet access. So annoying!
i have the same problem it is so annoyig
Same here
I'm getting the same WIFI problem here, except that if I'm downloading something, it won´t turn off. But if I lock the screen and leave it alone, WIFI won´t come back on until I turn it off and on again.
I'm using CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC0 v1.9.
Any hints?
I have the problem that it just shuts down without any reason
as far as i know.
if you go on lockscreen for a while it shuts down too.
but try downloading "blade wifi fix" from the android market.
it might help. because it auto refreshes your wifi
when it shuts down with some reasons in particular.
first thing to try when you encountered those kind of issues is Wipe wipe wipe wipe..
only when you already did it you could try to ask forums for help..
The new WPA-Supplicant download could solve this?
I am having a problem connecting to a EAP secured wifi network on cMiui (same problem exists on Mystic's Glory 4.1).
What is strange is that connecting to the same network works without any problems on CM9 (nightly build 7/2). I have tired the usual suspects, reflashing the rom, re-booting, turning airplane mode on and off with no success.
I have edited the wpa_supplicant.conf file to add the network (I also copied the version I used with success in CM9) but that doesn't help. The last thing I have tried is manually copying over the bcm4330.sta.bin and wpa_supplicant from the working CM9, then re-booting but still no joy.
Does anyone have any ideas? I am sure it is something simple but I can't seem to find it.
What kind of problem are you having?

Ugh, that would have been good to include in the original post!
The issue is that the wifi never connects, always stalls at the association stage. Looking at the logs, the error message is: Association request to the driver failed.
Any ideas?
Have you tried switching up the kernel? I'm running AOKP with Siyah and it's connecting to my school's EAP network just fine.
Yup I tried both fluxxi and siyah. No good still does the same thing, wireless network appears to not be in range and fails during the association process.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
Hm...I'm not really sure what's wrong, but at this point, I would just try a full wipe and reflash the ROM, - shrugs -.
Or try resetting your router?
Hello,
I have been using the CM10 by Epinter since April 2012. I updated to the latest version of Epinter's CM10 in December. Until last monday, there were no wifi problems with the rom. Since Monday, the wi-fi has been connecting, then disconnecting, connecting again, and the disconnecting. The wifi menu will then "freeze", saying "Turning on Wi-Fi". What can I do to fix this issue?
I flashed a previous version of Epinter's rom, in which I had no issues, and then flashed GAPPS, and wiped the Dalvik Cache... Still, the problem keeps occurring.

Turn your wifi off/on
'forget' your saved wifi settings and re-enter
Re-flash current CM10 (epinter) with a full system wipe (format pre-install, osh. system, data, cache)
Check that your wifi setting is 'always on'

I've tried all of these. Nothing solved the issue :/. Anything else I could do?
look here https://forums.motorola.com/posts/09627d982f (the last two posts might help?)
check your settings (wifi advanced) and make sure the 'disconnect if signal is weak' box is unchecked
does the problem happen with any other wifi connection?
If you're still having problems I would try another stable rom (to see if the problem is rom or phone), maybe CM 7.2?

I tried that the MROM Cm 7 rom, but I could not even activate wi-fi. It said that there was a wi-fi error.
