How to flash clockwork recovery when recognized as I9100? - TouchPad General

It recognizes it as a I9100 and wont let me do anything through rom manager.

i would say dont use Rom manager on TP, as its not officially supported.....use CM way to install clockwork recovery using aceminstaller
but some people have used Galaxy Tab's recovery and it seems to work....

Even though it isn't officially supported yet, with CM9 alpha 9.0.6, Rom Manager will recognize it. So far I have used it to rename backups to something more descriptive.

Rom manager will recognize clockwork but it wont let you flash anything because its not supported in this model.
The only way to flash is through acme(which I cant stand). I already did this but the flash didn't take I guess because its missing now so I am assuming I have to use acmeinstaller every time to boot clockwork because it isn't actually flashing it into memory.
or downgrade to cm7 before they made the phone recognized as a I9100 and flash.
Most people already did this but I picked up a 2nd touchpad today and skipped cm7 straight to cm9 which is incompatible with clockwork.
Anyone know how to change how the device is recognized to something compatible with rom manager? I really dont want to mess with acmeinstaller anymore.

For CM9, I wiped everything and flashed CM9 Alpha 0 and CWM using acmeinstaller2 from the main thread in rootzwiki. Haven't had to use acme since. Alpha updates 0.5 and 0.6 both applied using CWM. Haven't had any issues. With alpha 0.6, Rom Manager will recognize it, just not supported yet. However it does work for backup management. FYI, the official CM9 build uses "cm_tenderloin" in build.prop, not I9100.

Installing CM7 nightlies is killin me!

what is the best way to install the nightlies now? i have tried the fool proof tutorial and it never seems to install properly, just keeps taking me back into cwm. can i just flash nightly 62 from cmw 2.x? whats the deal?
When running CM7 (or any 2.2/2.1 rom), the easiest way is make sure you can get into cwm by hand. If you can, then dl the latest nightly (you can still do this using rom manager premium), make sure toy have gapps, reboot into recovery, and flash by hand.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Once I have cm7 on the phone, I download the new nightly and run cmw then select install rom and point to the new file. I leave the check for wipe cache and it keeps my info. It even works with the glitch kernel.

[Q] Clockworkmod Support?

Anyone know if, or when there will be support for these players for clockworkmod recovery? when I run it, I have a choice of fifteen different Samsung smartphone/tabs come up when prompted to "confirm phone model" However, none show an option for these players.
there will be soon im sure..this is still a newer device so it will be a bit. CWM-Rom Manager from the market does not support the player/s at this time. more then likely a dev will create a custom recovery instead. i wouldn't mess with CWM from the market unless it is annouced that Koush supports it.

There's nothing as of yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see something eventually. I had tried things myself to try to get it on the device, but it got stuck in a boot loop :/ .
I flashed cwm for the i9000 with no luck. It said it completed successfully, but went to the stock recovery. Bummer.
If I knew how to do a custom recovery I'd work on it for sure. I just don't want to brick it....

That's interesting! The i9000 is in the list of available choices.
i would love to see cwm on the player 5.0. this is the only thing holding me back from making themes and roms for this device. i know how to package roms, but when it comes to anything deeper then that i get lost.
but i would love to learn and help to port cwm to the players

[Q] Why do I have two different versions of CWM on my i777?

I am running the latest cm9 nightly. If I boot into recovery by using the power button reboot option, I get cwm 5.5.0.4 (from Entropy's DD kernel when I was on UnNamed). If I boot into recovery from rom manager, I get version 5.8.1.8. So apparently I have two different versions of cwm installed on my i777. Is this normal? I cannot seem to update the older version by flashing a newer version over it.

I'll say it for everybody else - DON'T USE ROM MANAGER. I'm yelling on purpose because it's made clear across the i777 forums that ROM Manager is worthless on the i777 unless you want to rename a backup - and ES File Explorer will do that just fine. You can't update with it, you can't back up safely with it, you can't restore with it, and if you boot into recovery with it you WILL screw up the phone at some point.
Even if someone pipes up that "it works fine on CM9" I still won't believe it - it's just not built for this phone.

As TOA stated, Rom Manager works with CM9 flawlessly. Now everything else for the i777 is a different story.

Apologies then, but if it's flawless, then I'd be curious how it's dual-booting recovery. Maybe the question should go in the CM9 thread? Or just put it somewhere Entropy will notice - I'll bet he knows.

Yeah I'd ask Entropy for sure, he is the kernel master. The only thing I can think of why it is dual booting like that is, it is injecting it's own recovery that is associated with the app. SO when he boots through rom manager it gives him one recovery whereas booting using the button method gives him the cwm associated with the kernel. But as for working flawless, for CM9 you can download the newest nightly's, boot into recovery and flash all through the app.
Yes, I am sure Entropy knows why. I hope he or anyone who knows the topic notices this thread and shed some light on it.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA
Somehow, and I'm not sure why, RM is able to inject its own recovery.
This would be the first time in my entire history that it didn't inject a broken one.

[Q] Bricked? [Solved]

Got my Note a few hours ago. Charged it up. Downloaded Odin. Rebooted to download mode. Used Odin to flash some pda.tar that I got from a thread here which said it would install root.
My phone rebooted, and it has been stuck at "Samsung" ever since. Reboots and pulling battery do nothing. Reboots to a stuck samsung logo. I've also, since, flashed CWM successfully, and I'm able to boot to CWM.
I attempted to flash the CM10 builds from these boards, and it errors out with a build.prop thing and refuses to install the package.
Am I bricked without ever making even 1 phone call on my new phone? ..
You are not bricked. If you were bricked you would not be able to get into CWM.
What ROM did you try to install and can you still see it from CWM?
Also which CWM did you install? I think the version of CWM is probably the issue with CM10, just a guess.
Can you get in to download mode?
Also, what version of the Galaxy Note do you have? I717 or what?
From what I've seen all cmw versions posted on the board are too old to flash cm10.
Flashing cmw and then booting up to install/download/flash ROM manager and the latest version of cmw will fix the cm10 problem. But if you attempted to flash a cmw tar and it got stuck at the boot screen you likely flashed the wrong version for your os.

I flashed a factor(?) build. It's an old gingerbread. Booted up. Tried to run Kies. It, of course, told me to fly a kite. Ran the pda.tar again and it installed a kernel, succesfully, that then allowed me to install superuser. Then I flashed my CWM again. It works. Just did a backup.
When I try to use it to install CM10, i get a status 7 error. I'm using the 4-14-2012 touch recover found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1584576
From what I'm gathering from your post, if I install ROM Manager, it will update me to a better CWM, and that CWM will flash CM10 without status 7ing on me?
Thanks for the quick responses guys. I've done a number of Droid's, nexus 7, and my Acer a500, but I'm new to Odin. The thought of bricking a phone without owning it 3 hours had me in a panic.
edit: installed ROM manager. It doesn't give me the option to download CWM for a note. Not sure what to do there.
I don't believe your Note is bricked. This thing seems to be bullet proof.

One last thing if you want Adobe flash to work in your browser (i.e. Dolphin) you have to stay with ICS builds. Adobe stop supporting Android after 4.0.X releases.
Thanks guys. I swear I'm only a completely flustered noob with the note. I've got a custom ROM'd nexus 7 on one side of me and I'm using my sdcard from my CM10'd acer a500.
I can't thank you all enough. Everything is now running -- cm10 and booting -- and I'm live.

Nothing wrong with ROM manager and I've never had an issue with it on the note. It does only flash newer cwm on ICS and doesn't seem to support gb well but that is easily bypassed.

Install Clockworkmod Recovery after Romracer and Neutrino

Hi everyone,
I just installed Neutrino 2.9 following the main thread instructions and so replacing Clockworkmod Recovery with Romracer Recovery as suggested.
Everything is working fine except I lost most of the Rom Manager functionalities because it require Clockworkmod Recovery installed.
Now I was wondering if I can go back to Clockworkmod and keep Neutrino ROM installed.
Also, will the OTA Update have issues if it does not find Romracer?
Thanks and very good job to anyone is developing these custom ROMs.
Max
You should be able to install ROM Manager's recovery, then flash RomRacer's. That should trick ROM Manager into thinking its recovery is in place, thus giving you back its functionality.

Thanks MJ
I actually did it and it worked, I flashed CWM Recovery and then reinstalled RomRacer's again using Rom Manager.
Now Rom Manager shows that I have CWM installed while I don't anymore but at least it released almost all functionalities (except update check).
Bye,

well, I dont have any issues, I have CWM Touch, so I dont give a chainsaw why you have to get only RRRecovery

It is actually strongly suggested by installation guidelines.
Anyway I had to go back to stable CM7.2 because my Atrix started to freeze (or turn off) and to get it back on I have to try several time to remove battery and put it back while holding the button power on.
With CM7.2 it happens less frequently than with Neutrino, of course I can't really say that this is the reason but I need my phone and I had to do something.
