[Q]Insufficient Space after Root and Vendor Restore - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So last night I decided im tired of the way my Atrix was running so I decided to root it. My plan was to install neutrino 2.2 rom, but first I read to install CWM Recovery which i thought i did correctly.
So I then went to market and tried to download ROM Manager, Insufficient Space Error. So I removed a bunch of apps, Tried again, still same thing.
Formatted my internal and sd card, still had error. Went into recovery and did the stock reset (thinking it may be root causing issue) got phone back to stock and still getting same error.
Can anyone help?

so my boss found an app called marketfix on app brain. I went there only to find i needed to download with market.
seems kind of counter productive if you ask me lol.

Fixed it.
I tried a few more things and was finally able to get titanium backup and system recovery back on phone thanks to apk files i found. Tried clearing cache and Dalvik cache.
neither worked.
Put phone in fastboot mode, then connected to computer, went to dos prompt and ran:
moto-fastboot erase cache
I have now successfully installed 2 apps from market. Yay!!!

Thanks. I tried clearing cache of market but didn't work but "moto-fastboot erase cache" worked for me.

[Q] Ghost of ROMs past haunts my Vibrant

I've been stuck in a weird place for some time with my phone. After I installed clockwork mod, backed up, installed some flavour of FroYo, and made the mistake of trying to flash back my old back up without properly wiping things have been getting weird. I can use ODIN to flash fresh ROMs, but I always get a bunch of FCs at startup, and most apps don't work. I tried to do all kinds of tricks to completely wipe the internal SD, but there is always some remnants of old fun hanging about causing cascading errors and FCs. No matter what I try to do, MyBackupPro and Rommanager is always present, but not working.
How I can completely rid myself of anything not stock ROM?
I've finally gotten back to root ADB, after a long and hard battle. I believe this may hold the key to salvation for my Vibrant.
Any and all suggestions are much appreciated!
Things I've already tried:
EUGENE373_SamsungS_Froyo_PDA -> Stock 2.1 T959UVJFD
EUGENE373_SamsungS_Froyo_PDA -> battery pull -> Stock 2.1 T959UVJFD
Stock 2.1 T959UVJFD -> EUGENE373_SamsungS_Froyo_PDA
Bionix1.9.zip - would not install due to some error I can't recall right now. Will update.
Factory wipe - from Settings menu
Wipe in Clockworkmod menu
Wipe all in adb shell
The weird *2767*3855#* factory wipe
UPDATE:
Strangest thing happened: I flashed an old ROM back onto the phone with Odin 1.52, then the Updated Stock 2.1 also via Odin the usual FC-ing was still there. Then I rebooted into recovery, reinstalled the Clockworkmod recovery menu, installed the root-update.zip in order to have root shell access. Then I pushed VibrantDeodexed1_2.zip and Vibrantfroyo_R3.zip on to the sd card. I tried to apply the VibrantDeodexed1_2.zip, but it aborted due to some catalog not present. However, I did notice that the installation erased /system and deleted some files, and I had the notion to try and install the VibrantFroyo_R3.zip. The installation succeeded, and Lo and Behold!
the phone has returned to the land of the living! Wohoo!!
I do not fully understand how this can be, but there is no Force Closing of programs any longer. What a relief!
Thanks to everybody who contributed ideas!
If you're having problems, back up whatever data you want to keep to your computer. Go download eugenes 2.2 that doesn't brick. Flash that, do a battery pull once it's done (don't reboot). Then go get a stock eclair file, flash that with odin and check repartition. This solved every problem I had from flashing way too many roms.
Yea, when in doubt I thank the deities for Eugene and flash his "Froyo that doesn't brick" followed by the stock JFD firmware.

Sorry to say, that trying this solved nothing. Just the same as before.

You clicked the "repartition" option? That should format your internal sd...

Yeah, that's the weird part.. It doesn't really delete anything. Files are still there, and so are the un-wanted system files, too.
Does anyone know if I can manually partition the sdcard?
Had a similar issue, and couldn't fully erase my files. Figured out how to completely erase everything, before you proceed, backup your files and be ready to Odin. In rom manager, enable advanced mode in settings, then use the flash alternate recovery option. That set my current cwm version to 2.5.1.2, now when I reboot to cwm i have a menu that says something similar to "sd and storage" and within that menu are options to completely format all of the internal storage. Be careful in there, you can delete everything, incl the sd ext, but I think this is what you are looking for.
Edited - I rebooted and checked the menus, mounts and storage in cwm is what you are looking for after flashing the alternate recovery, I can confirm this removes remnants that an Odin repartition or factory format still leaves behind, let me reiterate, backup your personal files, cause this does remove everything
After formatting, Odin away

When I boot into recovery, I always have to reinstall packages to get to the CWM recovery menu. I tried to clear everything from the mounts and storage submenu; I cleared system, cache and data, then flashed stock eclair. STILL the same applications and files sit on the internal SD.
When performing the wiping, all looks normal. It does take a little time, and the system reports that all is going according to plan, yet no files are deleted.
What can possibly make the phone act this way? Are there no super secret samsung-technician codes that allow me to completely wipe clean the face of the sdcard?
When you get into the storage and mounts menu, I would format everything given what you're experiencing. Format boot, data, system, cache, and sdcard. Dont format the sd ext, thats the physical card. After formatting all of those your phone should be an odin ready blank slate, mine was. Hope this helps.

this has to be one of the most useful threads. just last night i was messing with rom manager and enabled advanced settings, BEEFORE reading this thread. I've done so much monkeying, but didn't keep a journal or log, so ive got **** from so many hacks and tweaks (mods and themes)...
thanks, im gonna wipe this ****er clean.
Good Info..but moved to Q&A

This is exactly what I tried yesterday. I'll try it again a few times to see if I can find a way.

I was hoping that would help you friend, that process wiped mine clean of all remnants. Good luck in getting her back into a functional state.
After reading som more, contacting Samsung Service, I've decided to send the phone in for service. [sigh]
I've learnt a lot about ADB, pushing and pulling files, rooting, unrooting, swapping ROMS and whatnot. Still, the phone is stuck in that weird place where I cannot delete files.
Hopefully the service team can fix this poor, misguided phone

Android Market Missing after A2SD install

Hey guys, just got done performing an install of Darktremor's A2SD on my phone. Everything went great. Booted my phone up and no longer can I access the market. No app in the drawer, still an icon on the desktop; but it doesn't do anything. Any ideas other than a factory reset data wipe?
If using CM6: Flash THIS
If using CM7: Flash THIS
I don't know about the FR008/2.2.2 roms, though.
Tried that multiple times. Ended up doing a complete wipe of the phone and reinstalling N91. Everything is all good now.

[q] couldnt open directory/sdcard/nandroid/

I DID some cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe and accidentaly included data wipe too..the phone rebooted and ask for goole etc etc to be filled up but then the phone died and when i tried to reboot it. I get stuck at CM7 boot screen. I tried recovery pressing power-volume down-menu all at onece and when i try to restore back up it says E: Couldn't open directory/sdcard/nandroid/ please help me please i dont know what to do
Did you move the nand backup elsewhere on your card or to your computer? Toggle USB storage and copy the nand backup back to the sdcard (and to the same folder).
no.backup was not moved ever since i created it using nand backup.and upon checking..it is still there
my guess is that the rom has become corrupt (somehow), so this is what i would do:
1. wipe everything again (as if you were going to do a fresh install of new rom)
2. flash cm7
3. once everything has booted properly, reboot into recovery and try to restore the backup
Im gonna try that one out sweet...anymore suggestions or solutions or is there anyone out there who knows exactly what to do?
Hoping your suggestion would solve this problem...Rebooting now after re-installing cm7......
Re-installed CM7 and phone went On..Tried to restore backup but to no avail....anyone who can suggest what to do?
did you rename the folder of your backup? i know that the name cannot have "invalid" characters, such as asterisks and spaces.
also try reflashing your recovery and try again.
I think I know what went wrong. Yesterday I used Amon Ra to wipe cache and dalvik cache and battery stats coz I've seen somewehere here in this forum that CWM recovery doest completely wipes caches so I used it but I forgot to return to CWM. I think that causes the problem "couldnt open file directory". Upon reinstalling CM7 rom, I flashed CWM and tried to restore backup and it did.
Nope..I never did anything with the backup...reflashing recovery solves the problem
so everything is now up and running? glad to hear that
yeah..up and running thanks

[Q] HELP! cant restore my backup and liquidsmooth custom rom not working on GS3 att

Hey guys.Im kinda a noob, so bear with me. I have a SGH i747 (att galaxy s3) and I rooted it on my mac using motochopper. I backed up all my apps and system data with titianium backup to my SD card, and i also backed up my stock ROM to my internal storage using ROM Manager. I then downloaded liquid smooth using my phones browser, and then I selected it within ROM manager and clicked "reboot and install' (keep in mind, i didn't wipe memory or anything) So it was stuck at the boot screen. Then i realized what i did and went and wiped data/factory reset, dalvic cache, and the other cache, within Clockworld mod recovery (vol up + power + home). After that, it worked, but only to find that all my apps were gone, and the play store and browser app didnt work. so basically softbricked however I can make phone calls and text (lost all contacts). Then i went into cwm and tried to restore my phone, at first it came up with two backups (neither of which had the name I named my backup) but said no files found and then when I mounted my storage, the bottom one said md5 mismatch but the top one worked. the top one would work for about 6 min then while it was restoring data it would reboot into liquid smooth and i would have like 3 apps i didnt have before (other times i would get stuck at the boot screen). I also tried restoring it right after I wiped data/ factory reset and cleared the caches, but then it would get stuck at the liquidsmooth boot screen. Tried pretty much everything.
I just want my phone back the way it was before root or anything, with all my data. But I backed up all my stuff besides apps to KIES, so willing to reset it to stock firmware if possible
need all the help i can get. thank you all very much

[Q] Cannot mount /sdcard

Hi.
I recently aquired a Samsung Galaxy GT i9000 and wanted to get a newer version of android on it cause the one that had was broken, the phone would turn off by iteself if not used.
So after a quick google search got to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBFtVvbRGN0.
Watching the video i realized i don't have ClockworkMod Recovery so went to google again and found this guide http://www.idroidspace.com/root-samsung-galaxy-s-gt-i9000-and-install-cwm-recovery-how-to/.
Fallowed the guide and got ClockworkMod Recovery installed using CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVT-v4.3-CWM3RFS if somehow helps.
So back to the video i dowloaded CyanogenMod and Google apps provided on this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2526478.
I copy the files onto the sd and insert it. I boot phone into recovery, didnt made android backup and proceed to do wipe data, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache. I go to install zip from zipcard and i get Cannot mount /sdcard or.
Did another googlesearch and got to this http://www.droidviews.com/fix-e-cant-mount-sd-card-issue-android-devices/.
Tried to format sd card various times but still doesn't work so i tried the method 2 listed there.
Got to http://www.droidviews.com/setup-adb-and-fastboot-on-windows-within-seconds/ and installed Minimal ADB and Fastboot.
I connec t the phone in recovery mode , luch Minimal ADB and Fastboot and run "adb devices" but my device isnt listed there.
And now i'm stuck. I might not be doing some stet or idk. First time trying whole android install stuff and any help would be appreaciate it. Thanks in advance.
