Cannot Hear in Phone Calls after Unroot? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I recently unrooted my GS2 i777, but now when I make phone calls (calls do actually connect) I cannot hear on either end. No sound sent, no sound received....
any ideas?

What ROM were you on before?

some build of ICS. Not sure exactly. I found how to unroot here http://galaxys2root.com/category/att-galaxy-s2/.
Everything should b stock now...or so i think...

Sounds like you might have the wrong modem installed.

With that unroot file from galaxys2root.com, it had all the files in one .tar (for the PDA slot in Odin) Where would i be able to track down the right modem file?

You could root again and then flash i777 modem and kernel to see if that will help. Are all your touch keys working?
Fyi if you want to unroot, you are beret off useing the sticky on this forum to do so.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium

Ya all the keys are working just fine. It connects to data, and i can send texts, just no voice.

I'm sorry, I'm admittedly a noob and cannot find it in the stickies....lol

just wondering why you decided to unroot?
Anyways if you are unrooted use this to get root back. If you are 2.3.6 you might want to do some reading to make sure this method will work.

Or if you don't want root, try factory reset.

Ok. Thanks. Ill try that.

Can he just simply perform "factory reset" to bring back bone stock from a custom ROM?
Is that easy??? Hmmm

His first post said he unrooted already.

[Q] One click root and unroot??

My wife has a Atrix 4g that i have to send back to att. She is not into flashing roms, etc but i am so i know what I'm doing just not with this phone. I'm wanting to root it, tbu all her apps and then unroot it to send it back. Is their such a tool for this phone? I've searched the threads and did not find anything. I do not want to have to flash sbf files. I have a one click root and unroot tool for my Atrix 2 but I'm sceptical of using it on her phone. She is on the 2.3.6 update- 4.5.141. If someone could point me in the right direction i would appreciate it.

Bump.
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
There is a file that enables one click root/unlock.
But to get back to full stock and locked you would have to use the sbf's.
Ya i seen that. I don't think I'm going to find what i am looking for. Iv read about this phone all morning and the phone itself is a hell of a lot different than my A2. She doesn't care for a rooted phone so I'm just going make her reinstall all her apps and data herself. Thanks for the help though.

Frustrated

I'm trying to flash back to stock use Odin and AIO toolbox and it keep booting up on the Samsung screen and wont past from there already spend 2 hrs so now I'm so frustrated

Please give a little more detail what your doing? You could be flashing the wrong stuff...
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
The s1_odin_20100512.pit and T959UVJFD .tar. is there anything else I need to flash
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
I've only used Odin so I have no input on the AIO tool, but how long is the Odin flash taking? Is the Re-Parition option checked (should happen by default when you select the PIT)?
It takes about 3 mnts and repartiton is check but when its Donne it just bootloops on the samsung screen
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Odin v1.8 is included as part of the toolbox.
Go to the toolbox thread, last post and there is a download of a older version of Odin.
What ROM are/were you coming from?
O try that one 2 and still same result
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Coming from stock gingerbread but the phone some how wont connect to the wireless and data so I decide to go back to stock but now it wont turn on :banghead:
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Are you coming from ICS, or Gingerbread? Did you flash the Gingerbread bootloaders by chance?
You could try to find the Froyo bootloaders, use Odin to flash that, and then try to flash the .pit and JFD files to go back to stock. I don't think that should be the problem, but it couldn't hurt. I know you're trying to get back to stock, but you could try to use fishman's odin image for his rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441976
I've used it before, and can verify it's good to go.
Can you get into recovery? You won't have CWR, but I'm just curious if you can even get to the stock Samsung one (like if you were going to root the phone the old fashioned way).
coming from gingerbread .... and try all that already but at the end when the phone try to reboot it saids that une of the its not recognize ... i dont know if that have any thing to do ... but odin can read my phone
I have to ask... your signature says SGH-I997 (Samsung Infuse 4G). I hope you haven't been trying to flash the Vibrant packages on that all this time, heh.
no i have a infuse and a note but these phones is my friends and im trying to fix it for him but seems like i waont be able to do it the good thing its that i stil can get in download mode
Couldn't hurt to try a different usb port on your pc, I have trouble with my faster port. Works fine when I use the standard port.

Have you tried Heimdall by any chance? It has worked for me before.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278683
Although it shouldn't matter since the flash doesn't touch either of them, maybe try removing the SIM and the external SD temporarily.
I also second ZeroG1's suggestion for Heimdall.
Is it the vibrant 3g (t959) or the 4g (t959v)? They are very different.

Rookie Rooting Mistake...

So, I've rooted my SGS3 using the excellent toolkit, and installed CWM Touch recovery. However, when the newest OTA update appeared, I decided in my wisdom to install it, and reflashed the Stock recovery and then the update. All seemed fine, until I realised that my root was gone. In hindsight, I kind of knew this would happen, but a sleepless night must have clouded my judgement.
My question: is it possible to re-root the phone with the toolkit, or any other method? I think I remember seeing somewhere that this is not recommended, but wanted to see if anyone has any tips.
Thanks,
Erik N

Where you get the info that is not recommended to reroot after OTA updates?
Just root it again using cf-root.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Normal for users to root again.

Thank you both, I'll try re-rooting. I'm not sure where I saw that advice, pretty sure it wasn't in this forum, though. XDA trumps rumours any day!

Help with Stock Restore

I'll be the first to say it...
I screwed up my phone entirely and I know. But that's neither here nor there at this point.
I'm really just hoping for some serious help at this point.
Thanks in advance.
I was stock ll4 baseband and attempted to run “one click"casual to root/unlock/recovery.
Somehow during this process my phone managed to root but failed to unlock or install custom recovery.
I made it back to home screen and checked for root status to verify.
This is where the bonehead mistakes come in
I then tried to install twrp manually thinking the bootloader possibly unlocked during casual. But it did not.
After trying to boot into recoveryi get a notification that I am running custom software and to return my device immediately to Verizon.
I can't get back to home screen either same message.
I attempted to revert to stock several times using droidstyle method and Odin keeps coming at sboot.bin.
Does anyone out there no wtf I did to my phone?
Please help. Thank you

Warning

I have been reading thorough the returning to stock post in lg general Dev. A lot of people are softbricking or bootlooping by flashing OTA an edited recovery.
Before you flash any OTA you must return to stock.
Just a word of warning. If I'm misinformed someone please correct me but that's what I got from reading.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm sure anyone that would be looking in the development threads would be looking for development so they might pass over this thread. In turn they will end up 'softbricking' their device because they didn't return to stock before hand.
You should have posted this is the correct place.
Now everyone's phones are going to be messed up.

I just stuck on recovery after OTA, now I guess I have to unroot?, what that OTA does anyway? I was looking for more information but there is nothing out yet
Go look at the returning to stock post in general section. There is more instruction there.

if you can get in recovery, you are fine. Just have to clear some files and it will boot fine. It's "soft bricked" because it keeps trying to apply the OTA.
Sprint has an OTA?

If you have a nandroid backup, you should restore it. As soon as you restore it, you should flash back to stock. Then after your phone is clean, take the OTA and then root.

I'm not sure I've just seen lg in general has had updates being pushed.
However if we are on stock rooted ROM, shouldn't we be able to push the OTA? I'm not that versed in this.

Safe thing to do is to always flash back to stock to avoid any issues.
EDIT: Don't quote me on this but according to a Sprint G2 user in the thread below that if you have the stock recovery and didn't flash TWRP, you should be able to take the OTA without having to flash back to stock.

Yup on stock recovery right now . Gonna hold off tho because I've been reading that someone is making an update we can flash over top with TWRP. I'll just figure out what I want to do once everything is clear and settled. I'd love some better/stronger signal.

Good Info
Thanks for the post. I myself was applying the software downloads for my D800 At&t Variant. I am currently stuck right now and your explanation helps make a little sense of what is happening to my phone. I was stuck at the cm boot animation and tried to do a wipe and restore and a bunch of other stuff and nothing was working. Decided to flash back using the software from that thread, however the flash was listed as successful, but upon getting to the main screen of the os, keyboard doesn't come up, no signal or wifi, then after a minute or two the phone will just reboot. My thoughts are either that I have the OTA software missing key components from the original stock, or my efs is shot, in which case I am concerned. Just got this phone and would love to fix it. I will hunt for original software.
I had done a full lg stock backup through CWM and then exported that to my computer. Would that contain my efs info?
Thanks
