Streaming video from rar archives - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Is there a way to watch videos that are stored on a remote server as rar archives?
On my HTPC, I map a drive and either use VLC to open the rar, or let MediaPortal/XBMC handle it, but is it possible in ICS?

view Compile HTML (*.chm) & *.dat (video)

Hello,
just got my xda (64mb), I can't view my Compile HTML (like an ebook) in xda; on the IE that comes with the xda. Also how can i view my *.dat (Vcd) in Windows Media PLayer in 8.5 (whm).
Any software to convert them, TRy some but still unable to do that
hi,
nobody seems to be able to advise me on this matter.. Any kind soul
Pocket Windows Media PLayer 8.5 dows not support *.dat files from VCD.
You may want to covert them to divx with a smaller screen size and then play them with pocket Divx player. Pocket Windows Media PLayer 8.5 onluy support mpg, wma, wmv, and MP3 (and wav).
IF you use pocket divx doe covert your sound to mp3 not ogg becaus this may not work.
check http://www.projectmayo.com/projects/index.php for info on pocket divx and http://www.virtualdub.org/ for coverting your video files to an other format. good luck.
And sorry cant help you on the CHM thing but will look in to it. 8)
Rename the .dat to .mpg and play with your favourite mpeg player
Windows XP contains a tool to edit and convert them.
First rename the .DAT file into .MPG
Then start "windows movie maker" , and load the .MPG file
(start/programs/accessories/entertainment/windows movie maker)
Drag the clip down to the movie bar, and edit the clip, or just goto
'file/save movie file' and save as : movie.wmv
when asked for 'movie settings' select 'other settings',
video for pocket pc (full screen 218 Kbps)
This will take some time to convert, but the video looks nice.
Don't forget to press the 'full screen' button on your winmediaplayer
(next to the volume bar) when playing the clip on yor XDA
Enjoy
Anymore advise on *.chm
thanks for the xda developer who tell me about windows movie maker... it works.. How about *.chm ?.....
.chm files
.chm files are compiled html file. to be able to read this on your pocketpc, you will need to decompile it using htmlhelp compiler. this piece of software comes from the installation of microsoft's service pack 5.0 for visual studio 6.0.
try and search google for html decompiler or better yet, check microsoft downloads.

[Q] streaming with subtitles possible

i have a question with respect to streaming of subtitles to my tab.
At the moment i am running standard touchwise i am not intending to root it.
Here is my problem, i downloaded several episodes from a series and i am streaming them to my galaxy tab 10.1 on the following ways:
way 1: tversity on pc --> skifta on tab --> using rockplayer to play the movie
way 2: plexmediaserver on pc --> plex on tablet
I have no problems playing movies with incorporated subs (of course) but i have not found a way to play a avi in combination with a .srt file. (of course srt has same name as movie, and it is working in windows).
Is there a way to get this working??? am i doing something wrong?
EDIT: sorry for the bad english... i am from the netherlands
is there nobody who could help me out? or just tell me it is not possible.... i guess i am not the only one having this problem, right?
I know DicePlayer on the market supports .srt subs. You will need to transfer the .srt file(s) to your tablet.

Click to collapse
hmm, so that means i stream the .avi to my tablet and subsequently it opens automaticly the .srt file that i will have on my tablet? will this work with for instance skifta?
I use ES File Explorer and have added my laptop as a server over my home network (I'm not sure how you'd go about doing it otherwise).
These are my exact steps:
1. Open ES File Explorer
2. Navigate to .srt file
3. Copy .srt from laptop to tablet sdcard
4. Navigate to .avi
5. Tap .avi file > Complete action using: DICE Player --(movie should start playing)
6. Tap "Select a subtitle" on top right of screen
7. Navigate to your .srt file on tablet
Done.
I've never used Skifta, but (presuming Skifta operates as a file explorer which you use to browse your PC files) as long as the .srt is on your tablet, it should work.
can i add my computer as server without filling in a pasword? i am on windows 7 with only 1 user and dont want to change that.....
As far as I know, you need a password set up. However, I think you can set Windows to auto-login so you don't have to bother with entering it every time... Google should help in that reagard...
thanx everybody. i have es file explorer working.... so that is perfect
just downloaded the trial version of diceplayer and this player is streaming also subtitles... so that is also perfect.
unfortunately i have not found another free player that could do this . So, somebody knows of a player that also stream subtitlels or where i could select the subtitles which i have on my tab?
Just want to close this thread with at this moment i think is the only solution:
- I have installed es file explorer
- Put on a new user account on windows with a name/pass
- (optionally --> set in windows 7 to automatic startup without asking for pass)
- Bought diceplayer in the market to play series
Diceplayer is also streaming the subs from my computer, so you dont have to place the srt files on your tablet.
thanx for all help varelawarfare, much appreciated.

Transferring movie from PC to Touchpad

I currently have a movie on my home PC, that appears to be in TS format? Does that make any sense?
When I use a video program that converts, say an AVI file into the MP4 format to watch on the Touchpad, it doesn't recognize the movie file.
What program can I use, that is free, that will support any type of video format and will allow me to convert it to my Touchpad?
You could use this

VLC for Android or MX Video player may play the file as is...

[Q] Is it possible to play a DVD off my laptop on my tablet without ripping?

Is it possible to play a DVD off my laptop on my tablet without ripping?
I’ve been trying to stream a DVD from my laptop to my Asus transformer tablet (running ICS 4.0.3), but so far couldn't find a way. I tried VLC for Windows + VLC Stream & Convert for Android combination, but there is no option to directly play a DVD, selecting individual VOB files wont work.
The only way I could manage to get the DVD video to play was to stream disk content though VLC's stream option, but this doesn’t allow any control over playback (Pause, FF, Rev etc..). I also tried setting up a DLNA server with Windows media player, but again there is no option to play a DVD , it can only share video files available on the local hard disk.
Now I'm beginning to think what I'm trying to do is not possible. Does anyone know how to do it ?
Looks like its not possible ??
For now I’m using splashtop HD remote desktop app, frame rate is not always good, but most movies are watchable, guess I'll have to use that till something better comes along.
is that a MPEG-PS VOB File ? then u can play the individual file by MX Player..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad&hl=en
btw u can extract the movies from a dvd using the img file.. sometimes there are 2 movies in 1 vob file
if you still can not play it then send me a sample of the vob

how to retrieve videos downloaded by an app

Hello,
i have a subscription to an app courtesy my ISP, which allows me to watch movies. The app also have a website where you download the movies directly on your pc and watch however, I'm using linux on a chromebook as my primary machine and the website requires the installation of silverlight (yeah) to be able to download.
My only option is to watch the movie on my android (Galaxy Core Prime SM0G361H) after i download it and it only plays in the app. but i want to be able to copy the downloaded videos and watch it on a laptop (wider screen is more fun) and can't seem to figure it out.
I tried enabling SHOW HIDDEN FILES in ES File Explorer but couldn't find the videos.
When I navigate to the download directory, it shows several files broken down into approx 2mb each
Any help will be appreciated. thanks
