Hi to everybody.
Is there any launcher that allows to have different settings in landscape and portrait modes?
It would be nice to set, for example, 10x7 grid in portrait and 7x10 grid in landscape and have different arrangement (and maybe different widgets) in both modes.
Thanks for all tips
Yes sslauncher allows different lanscape and portrait layouts.

Is there any way in LP+ or any other launcher to set where I want icons in portrait and have it remember those locations, and then set where I want those icons in landscape. That way when I rotate it my icons and widgets don't look retarded and overlap.
Any ideas?
Set them in portrait, switch to landscape and rearrange them. It should save their positions in each orientation independently.

Does this apply to widgets too? I moved the widget in portrait and it changes where it is in landscape and vice versa.

Negative, does not work on Launcher Pro Plus. Setting the icon and widgets in landscape will change in portrait.
It is completely baffling to me why the standard Android launcher (and even launchers like Samsung's TouchWiz and HTC SenseUI) only has a 4x4 icon grid on the main home screen regardless of screen size. Whether the screen is a measley 2.6" screen (e.g. Huawei Boulder) or a huge 4.7" screen (e.g. HTC Sensation XL) the icon grid size is the same. Likewise, it does not appear make a difference regardless of the screen resolution whether 320x240 or a huge 540x960.
I know there are a few launchers that do allow this to be customised (e.g. Launcher Pro) but why do so many other launchers not handle proper scaling of the icon grid size or offer a configurable setting to properly utilise the screen size?
I'm hoping this is resolved in the standard Android launcher for ICS.
If 5x5, When you rotate the launcher, it is squeeze like butter... just try 5x5 in a custom launcher and you will know about it

It doesn't need to be specifically 5x5 but just something that will scale appropriately for the screen size and resolution. If a 2.6" 320x240 screen can display 4x4 fine then a 4.3" (or higher) with 800 x 480 should easily be able to handle more than 4x4.

That's exactly what I'm saying, most current launchers have problems with how icons are arranged. The usable part of the screen for displaying application icons is generally not square. I'm not specifying how many icons need to be set out, but I think most large screen phones e.g. (HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy S2 etc) can take far many more icons. It may be appropriate for icons to be displayed in 4x5 grid in portrait orientation and then 5x4 in landscape orientation. Whatever is appropriate for the device (which will vary from device to device).
The fact that most launchers are fixed with an icon grid of 4x4 is what I'm saying the issue is.
Is there a way to get the desktop screens to be viewed in landscape mode as opposed to portrait mode?

You would need a launcher that supports it. (ADW, Launcher Pro)
I use Go Launcher EX to do this. It looks amazing. The only problem is that the wallpaper does not scroll. I wanted to use MultiPicture Live Wallpaper and a cubed transition effect to give my UI a 3D feel, but unfortunately the North American Note does not allow for wallpaper scrolling.
Just a heads up, you will loose the ability to use a lot of TouchWiz widgets if you change launchers.
Hey guys, Im looking for a launcher that allows for 2 different layouts, a specific layout for portrait, and one for landscape. Ive been trying to get it working nice with the Apex launcher and tablet mod, but the widgets always get screwed up and dont look as nice when flipped to landscape. Any ideas?
With sslauncher you can have different layouts for portrait and landscape mode.
I thought there was a Q&A forum specifically for these.
Anyone knows if it's possible and if, then how, to achieve different layouts for portrait and landscape mode.
So basically whenever you rotate your screen (for the sake of example) in Nova launcher Prime, the layout could either separately be set up or it would switch from say 10x8 to like 8x10 or whatever you choose.
At the moment when you rotate the screen the portrait layout obviously looks pretty much messed up (see attachments for example of a messed up landscape layout).
Noone?

up up and away...
Check out sslauncher - as far as I know, it is the only one where this is possible (completely independent layouts for landscape and portrait). Apex has the option to use different grid sizes in portrait and landscape, which can help in certain cases. But I personally use sslauncher because it simply is the most customizable launcher there is!
8 years into the future and still hasn't been addressed.... v7 is due soon, I'm crossing fingers, all of them.
