[Q]Can't boot into recovery/download menu - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've tried everything to get my unrooted WiFi Tab to boot into recovery mode. I hold down power and vol down, see "Samsung Galaxy Tab" and then...I'm expecting to see the Odin/recovery menu. Instead, the screen goes black and shows the "Samsung Galaxy Tab" logo again. And again. As long as I hold down he power/volume buttons, it does this. When I stop holding them down, it boots normally. How do I get to the recovery menu so I can finally root this thing?

Keep holding the vol button after you let off the power.

Thanks, I feel like an idiot once I figured it out. I didn't realize I had to let go of the power button once I saw the logo.

I am having the same issue. I am using a Verizon LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. It is the 16GB gray model. The baseband version says i905.03 V.EL01 or SCH-I905.EL01 and it's running Android 3.2. Not sure what else you need. Here's what I've tried.
Scenario 1:
1. Powered the tablet off.
2. Press and hold the power and volume down buttons.
What happens: Nothing. It just sits at a black screen and I never see the Samsung logo. I have to let go of the volume down button, press and hold the power button for about 5 seconds, let go of the power button. Then the tablet boots normally.
Scenario 2:
1. Tablet on and sitting at my home screen.
2. Press and hold the power and volume down buttons.
3. Once the Samsung Galaxy Tab logo shows up, I let go of the power button and only hold the volume down button.
What happens: The tablet boots like normal or it boots into Safe Mode.
So what am I doing wrong? I don't understand why I can't get into download(Odin) mode.

have the same issue, but i can go into recovery.
i need to ODIN to have the new CMW installed. tried a lot of things (adb reboot download.. normal 2 buttons boot.. ) and i always end up with a charging battery screen or get black screen and the tablet refuse to start again for few seconds.
anything else I can try?
thanks

never mind, looks like i was releasing the volume down too quick :/

Atrix boot loop

I got an Atrix from a friend who was having problems with it.
I tried turning it on and it stays tuck in a boot loop with the "Dual Core Technology" screen.
I tried a couple of key combinations to see if I could get to fastboot but nothing works. So far I've tried the following combinations:
1. holding the volume up button while powering on
2. holding the volume down button while powering on
3. holding volume up + volume down while putting the battery in and then pressing the power button
4. holding volume up + volume down while putting the battery in and then letting go of volume down and pressing the power button
5. holding power and volume up button while putting the battery in
I also tried this. After holding down the volume up button and pressing the power button, i tried hitting the volume down button once and then hitting volume up, hitting it twice and then volume up, 3 times and volume up, etc. etc. and then plugging in the phone to the computer, just in case the fastboot menu was there but I couldn't see it, but that doesn't seem to work either.
As it stands right now, all I'm getting is the boot loop. The phone had been sitting around for a while so I'm not really sure what the history is so all I have to go off of is what I have in front of me.
I'd appreciate any help in the matter.
Can you tell more history of the phone?
Is it rooted?
Is the bootloader unlocked?
Which ROM is it running if it's running one?

I'm pretty sure its not rooted and almost certain its the stock rom but I have no idea about the bootloader. My friend is not very tech-savy so I'm guessing that the bootloader is locked.
I have no way to verify any of this. All I have at this point is the phone that sits looping at the "dual core technology" screen.
If you have any ideas about which way to proceed from here, I'd greatly appreciate it!
What exactly is happening (down to the last detail) when you boot while holding Vol(-)?

When I have the volume down button pressed while booting, the green led stays on for 4-5 seconds, then the phone boots to the dual core screen, it'll stay there for about 5-7 seconds, then go to the M logo with the ripples and then the screen goes black for a second and then it loops back to the dual core screen. Only, this time, there is no delay between the 'dual core technology' screen and the M logo with the ripples.
Try this:
1) Remove battery
2) Replace battery while holding volume down button
3) Navigate to recovery
Should get you out of the loop.

Maybe the easiest way to get make it work again would be to flash the original stock rom with RSDLite.
It's very easy, you just need to connect your phone via fastboot ( when powering on hold vol(-) key until it says fastboot), then press vol(+) and the computer will detect it.
Just remember to flash the correcto sbf for your phone, otherwise you will have another bootloop.

Where do I get the stock rom?
How about you do some searching on your own for a change?
This time search for fruitcakes. That's the stock ROM.

[Q]Photos, Don't know which android tablet i have and it's stuck at 'Android' screen.

Update - While holding power button and volume up then letting go of volume up after
2 or 3 seconds while both screen black or on first boot screen for a nano second I
get a standing up android with blue atoms going around it's stomach. then goes
onto the lying down android with red triangle. Will I need to insert an sd card with some
kind of software downloaded on it for this whole format to work?
Here's all the problems. Woke up in morning and tablet chose to be stuck on 'android' animated(shine effect going across 'Android')
boot screen. I have made no modifications to the files etc, just stopped working.
To help you maybe know what tablet i got here are the two boot screens:
(Well i would post images if the forum didn't have silly restrictions on it)

#2

Anyway looked all over the net and the seen power button & volume key and it doesn't work. Here's what I get and what i tried.
#1 (tried both volume key plus and minus button)
Hold volume and power button until first screen
appears then next let go of power button but still holding
volume key just goes and get stuck at 'android logo' screen.
(I have also carried on holding power button through to second load screen too.
But! Holding down power button and volume up button until 1st screen with tiny
little android in circle then releasing power button takes me to the green android lying down
with red triangle
#2 (tried both volume key plus and minus button)
Hold power button until first screen appears
then next hold volume key and still holding
volume key but release power button just goes and get stuck at 'android logo' screen.
(I have also carried on holding power button through to second load screen too.)
Basically to cut it short I have looked via google search and come across plenty of forums
and tried to access the screen which lets me format the device but so far has become uncessesful
I hope the images help you know which device I have and also the photo of the tablet it's self to help you know
(it has no buttons on it except the power and volume key and has no small(tiny) or big reset button to press
from what I can tell.
(Again i would post an image here too if it didn't have silly restrictions)

made an update.
Can someone help please

[Q] Xperia Tablet S (SGPT1211) not responding to reset/boot comands

Hello,
I think I might be at the end of the road with my tablet. I've never rooted it or tampered with it in an way, however yesterday it locked up so I did the usual soft reset (hold power and vol+ for 10 seconds) I then turned it back on and the sony logo popped up, but there it just hung. If I press and hold the power button it switches off, a brief press on the power button brings it back on in the same state. So I go Googling, including looking at threads on this site, all seemed to advise to try to get the Android recovery menu up. on the Sony this is done by holding the power and vol+ and then releasing the power button (only) when the son logo appears (this process to be started when the tablet is off) so I did this, and no response at all. Worse than that, where it would turn on and instantly hang, it now doesn't turn on at all. Hooking it up to my PC I can see the device in device manager, but it tells me my usb device has malfunctioned.
At the moment, my thoughts are to open it up, to:
1. Check that the power/volume buttons aren't stuck in some way (preventing the boot command being given correctly)
2. Remove and resolder if necessary internal battery to force a power cycle.
3. Bin it and get something new (it is 2.5yrs old so no big loss i suppose)
Any ideas where to look or similar experiences?
Thanks

Phone will not turn on sort of

I installed TWRP 3.0.2-1 on my Sprint Galaxy S6 Edge. I booted into recovery mode, and I'm on the normal TWRP screen with the 8 options. But it doesn't let me open any of them. After a few seconds, the lock shows up, and after a few seconds more the screen turns off. I can turn it back on with the power button but I can't use the TWRP's swipe to unlock. Holding the power button does nothing. Holding volume down, power, and home (download mode) will make the loadup screen start to show up, but then it'll stop there for a really long time, before eventually going back to TWRP recovery and repeating all over again. If I keep holding the combination, it'll just loop the loadup screen over and over again. What do I do?
EDIT: I actually can get into download mode if that helps at all, my home button is just really messed up and does not always click well.

GApps error after installing Phone no longer starts.

Hi all.
I have a phone Samsung 920I not "L"
OK to start from the beginning. I am new to this and followed steps from watching Channel48 on YouTube. Not blaming him it's just so you have an Idia of where I got my info from.
Instlled Odin
I installed twrp-3.1.0-0-zeroflte.img and it didn't work.
I then found twrp-3.3.1-0-zeroflte.img and installed it over the top, Now works when booting into recovery.
I then installed 920F Samsung recover file that was only about 25Mb in size and got my phone working again.
left it for a day then tried again.
Installed twrp-3.3.1-0-zeroflte.img with Oden. works
Installed: EvolutionX_4.1.69_zerofltexx-10.0-20200331-0232-OFFICIAL Works I was happy Looked at "About" and it now says my phone is 920F :/ Andoird 10 cool it works so who cares if it says 920F right!!!
I then booted back into Recovery and Installed: open_gapps-arm64-10.0-pico-20200228 and that said it successfully installed and I swiped to restart the phone.
My phone powered off and that's where this ends.
I have tried holding the power button for about 30sec and nothing happens I tried plugging into the charger and it doesn't respond to show it's charging
Is there something I can do now or is the phone dead This is my main phone as I love the Samsung S6 over the rest because it has the main buttons, not on touchscreen and IR so I can use the phone as a remote.
Thanks
edit. update
I got my phone working again. I will leave this thread incase someone else asks the same thing.
How I got my phone to work again. This is what I found on Google search and I will BOLD the option that turned my phone on.
Press and hold Power button for more than 20 seconds to check whether it turns on your phone or not.
Press and hold Volume Up button for a few seconds and without releasing the Volume up button, press and hold Power button until your screen displays something.
Press and hold Volume Up button for a few seconds and without releasing the Volume up button, press and hold the Power + Home buttons until your screen displays something.
Press and hold Volume Down button for a few seconds, without releasing the Volume down button, press and hold Power button (totally 2 buttons) until your screen displays something.
Press and hold Volume Down button for a few seconds and without releasing the Volume down button, press and hold Power button + Home button until your screen displays something.
