(SOLVED) Error 80070013 when installing update? Check your serial number - HTC Titan

After months of waiting, HTC finally released an update that addresses this issue!
Go download the update here:
http://www.htc.com/www/help/htc-titan/#download
=== Original post follows ===
Refer to this thread and check the manufacturing date by looking at your serial number (the 2009 format):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=642459
My Titan's serial number begins with HT1C7, the 1C7 means it's manufactured on December 7th, 2011.
wpxap.com is trying to figure out which batch of Hong Kong Titans cannot install updates, and it seems Hong Kong Titans manufactured on December 7th, 2011, with a Bootloader version of 2.2.160015.3(134181) suffer from this problem. Titans manufactured after that date have a newer bootloader (134621) and can update to 8107 just fine.
http://www.wpxap.com/thread-282776-1-1.html (Chinese)
Don't know if this applies to Titans sold to other markets though. (Taiwan/Europe/AT&T)

i have an ATT Titan and mine was made on november 29th. And since I can't update to 8107, it seems like you're probably right :/ My bootloader is even older than yours. 132409

I have an att titan that couldn't update at to 7740 so therefore not 8107 either but reflashing the stock 7720 build fixed my issue so I recommend trying that

Where did you get the "Stock 7720 Build"?
It's seems like mine at&t HTC Titan was built on Dec 7th 2011 - "HT1C7" first letters of serial number. And yes, I do get Error 80070013
Thanks!

Not yet, I am busy chasing HTC currently.

So after reflashing the stock 7720 ROM you were able to update to 7740 and then to 8107?
Do you have "3G Toggle" after the update?
Thank you!

Did you flash "Eternity_Cingular_US_1.10.502.04_Radio_16.23.02.26 _A_16.27.00.23_Signed_ETERNITY_RELEASE.nbh"? If yes, what is the Bootloader version you see in the About screen after you flash it?

I'm on AT&T also, but I've never tried updating to 8107, I'm still on stock 7720 straight out of the box from the store. I also have bootloader 132409. I guess I'm in the same boat as you.

So this device is sourced from Hong Kong? My device also starts with HT1C8.
Did you use this file?
IMG_Eternity_hTC_Asia_TW_1.10.709.01_Radio_16.23.02.09_A_16.24.00.23_Signed_ETERNITY_RELEASE.nbh

try this:
at step 6 when the phone is turniong off(it will say good bye) pull the USB cable out of the phone and take the battery out and then back in. When turning the phone back on, hold the up and power to put into download mode(you will see a picture of a phone and PC once its in dload mode). Once its in dload mode plug the USB back in the phone and Zune should proceed with step 7(back up) and should continue the rest of the process.
* Do this at your own risk. I will not be held responsible for any damage this might cause your phone.

i'm have a HT1BSVM
2011 November 23
VM = part code TITAN????

That is a Taiwan ROM, wouldn't flash on Hong Kong Titans unless with the gold card flashing method or a hard SPL.

Thanks for letting me know. Has anyone seen a Hong Kong ROM around? I have only seen ones for the US, Europe and Asia.

I can confirm that this solution works! (at least on mine). I was ticked off when I found out that mine had has the problematic "bootloader" The seller didn't even tell me although they knew about it.. anyways I googled and found this from MS site http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...9/2a14d560-dfeb-47ed-b8e2-f7536435607a?page=2
You will see that some dude found it on a German website and has been proven successful for many. Anyways give it try. I am now on 8107 firmware. Shown below was my Titan info....
1. Phone Manufacturer HTC
2. Phone Model Titan
3. Mobile Operator Smart
4. Phone Operating System version 7.10.7740.16
5. Zune software version 04.08.2345.00
6. Computer Operating System version Win 7

No such luck with my Titan With that method, Zune can create a backup at Step 7, but at Step 8 (Installing Updates), it immediately fails, reboots my phone, and gives me a 80004005 error.

Does this trick for updating with the CAB's as well? That trick says its for updating with Zune, my ATT Titan doesn't have an official update, so I wanted to update it with the unofficial method

[Q] I Can't find The Suitable Region for my HD2 Manila Verion for ROM UPGRADE

I have a HD2 phone with these software specs out of the box:
Manila Version ( 2.5.192xxx ),
ROM Verion (1.43.405 xxx) WWE (70124)
Radio Ver ( 2.04 xxx)
I have been searching for a suitable ROM in htc official site to Upgrade my ROM, but no matter how much I tried, I only get this:
"This software is not suitable for your phone"
I checked my IMEI in https://www.numberingplans.com/?page=analysis&sub=imeinr and my phone turned out to be originated from Europe. But I get the same sentence when I tried Europe countries in htc official website.
Can someone kindly shed a light on this?
Thanks fellas
P.S
TBH, I don't see any similarity between my phone OS interface and that of people who have hd 2 Manila version ( from youtube ). Isn't it strange?

You can use the GoldCard technique. (I know it works, but don't have experience with it)
Wow very original (initial ROM)....
Looks like you have an UK ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9105826&postcount=1. So you could try the UK HTC Site.
Have you checked if you have an Operator logo at startup? If so, go to the Operators website, maybe the posted the ROM over there.
You must also check your SPL at bootup and report it over here.
HSPL your HD2 then it doesn't matter WHERE your phone is from. As long as its not a t-mobile phone which has more RAM/ROM than normal you can flash any HD2 rom you want...

Sorry for SPL you have to enter BootLoader (press and hold volume-down when booting the device), but don't bother, cause if I read one of your prev posts, you don't have HSLP installed.
You could also contact HTC Support, maybe they can help you finding your upgrade. Cause you have an ancient ROM on your HD2. I believe for all HD2 devices (even branded) there has to be at least an 1.66... or 1.72... ROM available.
Btw. You don't have an Operator logo somewhere at startup, it's all HTC logo's???

I forgot to mention that I finally found a ROM upgrade for my phone from htc TAIWAN website, downloaded and installed it. Apparently my phone origin is Taiwan. And now the language of my phone became Taiwanese. The question is that how my TAIWANESE phone had English language on it if it was not HSPL'ed? ( Actually I didn't check the Bootloader BEFORE upgrading my phone, but I believe if my phone had been HSPL'ed, the word HSPL would be seen in bootloader even AFTER Rom upgrading, right?
Is it possible that a Taiwanese phone has English language on it out of factory?

No, it's all HTC.
Read ALL the previous replies. Told OPTUS that I could not get the Win6.5 ROM upgrade from HTC, launched a week ago. They told me to give them the IMEI (above the serial number).
The operator then told me that I needed to download from the South African HTC site, since that's where my ex-Telstra phone came from. But that site seems off-line at this moment.

Official march update out!!

Hello everyone.. this is my first post..
I just updated my debranded German T-mobile Mozart to the official March update from Microsoft using the zune software; the OS version is 7.0.7390.0
I was using the 7.0.7389 from this site and as far as i can tell there's no difference.. See if any of you can findout if there's anything new
yeah its great we got nodo very early and are now the first to get the official nodo
my bet the only thing changed is the version number. this is now the real final.
7089 was RC1 or something for dev's only ... i just wonder why they bricked their own unlock service and how long it will take to get officaly developer unlocked again...
build says 7390
http://www.winrumors.com/windows-phone-7-nodo-update-now-available/
well I am from Philippines and I have a Mozart phone.. i connected to zune still no updates :/

Hey,
I'm not sure what ROM I'm on. What has actually happened, is I got alerted of an update, but it apparently can't update while syncing. I had the update wizard come and go, and I haven't heard anything more. I've restarted my phone, constantly checked for updates, and nothing. I'll see what happens tomorrow. I'm currently on 7008.
I got the update after debranding my UK orange device by flashing the europe rom leaked by football.

If I did a rom, would I lose all my data and settings too? I would be tempted, because this is getting ridiculous.

[Q] Get Update by Registy Manipulation

Hi,
I have a HTC Mozart from T-Mobile but don't want to wait until late April to get the updates. Is there a way to remove the branding without flashing the whole device? Like manipulating some registry entry so that the update service doesn't know I have a T-Mobile device? My device is unlocked so I could change the registry and I've read that it was possible on the Samsung Focus (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004487).

Using Walshie's approach I also only got Pre-Nodo-Update.

I have a developer model. Can't update it.

Just bought second hand HTC Radar. Sseller sold it, because he couldn't update it, because of error 80180048.
He said he thinks the phone is developer model and it may need a firmware....and goood luck!
I can't find how to crab a screenshot on Windows phone, but there is several additional items in the menus:
TestSuite
zBig Boss Settings
zCompass
zGesture Bester
zSensorView
zSart KITL
Is there any standard (original) firmware for radar? The phone is unlocked like every HTC phone sold here in Finland. Is it wise to contact HTC, if they could help, or can I get trouble of doing that?
edit: I'm completely newbie, but I found this:
Model: HTC Radar C110e

Yeah, I tried Hard reset. I also found that link, when trying to find help with that error number. In that help site there is a warning: DO NOT use the Windows Phone Support Tool if your phone's operating system (OS) version is 7.0.7390.0 or higher.
My phone says it has 7.5.
Do someone know how to recognise if this phone actually is a developer version?
Or maybe it has just a custom firmware?
Is there a way to recognize a custom firmware?

Many thanks. As I told I'm pretty new with this stuff, but at least thats looks promising.
By the way, I found out my phone is a developer model for sure.
I found a topic in here when doing a search using the OS version (which looks weird).
I found this:
Radar - Strange build - mojobld ?
I see..
So I presume you can skip DFT HSPL and go straight to flashing some ROM whether is stock or not.
Sent from my Radar C110e using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
In that other thread, a person with developer phone had tried to flash the phone with other firmwares without success. I would really like to get advices from the people here, before doing anything stupid.
I think i made a mistake saying that htc phones in finland are unlocked. What i mean is they are not locked (or branded) by carrier (like Vodafone, orange etc).
i think you could easily unlock the bootloader (DFT HSPL) and flash a fresh ROM, but look for other opinions just to be sure

Disable Microsoft Demo Mode?

Same here, help would be appreciated. Any way to get rid off the Demo mode? I have installed navifirm+ but really do not know which variant I have to download or how to install it, maybe because I am new to Windows Phone...
So the phones aren't even out yet on AT&T, ppl have been selling these stolen store demos ?
Demo mode is a special ROM loaded on phones display in retail stores. The only way to get rid of it is to load a different ROM. There is no easy way to do it. You have to research it yourself.

It's not stolen at all, we are officially selling these Phones and got 1 free when buying 5. The free one was the demo device, but I didn't know about that. Actually I'm from Germany and it is not a branded device at all. It just comes with the demo to be placed in a shop where everybody can get their hands on it. But this isn't of any use for us. Help would still be appreciated
Your besy bet is head over to dev forum asking for how to load ROMs to it. But the first thing is to find the official ROM files to download. There is no common way in Windows Phone to load device ROMs from another ROM. Each manufacturer has its own ways. Once you loaded with official ROM tough, you can easily upgrade via common Windows Phone OTA update afterwards.

Navifirm doesn't have any RM-820 ROMs yet. Only 821. Did you successfully flash a RM-821 ROM onto a AT&T 920 (RM-820)???
Or, did you find a RM-820 ROM?
I tried to flash a 821 ROM onto my Rogers 920 which is also RM-820, and the phone won't boot, I am desperately trying to find a RM-820 ROM.

You are right I see, there is no RM-820. But I wasn't even able to flash the ROM because Phoenix didn't detecte my device, it was shown as not connected. How did you mange to flash it then? Btw my Lumia isn't from AT&T.

I chose a RM-821 rom to flash in NCS. It asked me to confirm since the ROM wasn't for this phone. I did, and it started flashing. Then it errored out, saying the ROM isn't for the phone and wouldn't go. I was left with a dead phone

Well that's good for me because I would have made the same mistake. So there is no working ROM right now? Too bad for your dead phone, but how did you install the ROM on it? You have a demo device, too? Where did you actually get it from, and why are we the only damned ones having trouble with demo devices?! x(

Nope, mine was not a demo. I bought it off Kijiji.
I just had success in the past flashing a non-Rogers ROM onto my Lumia 900 and getting MMS and tethering to work. I thought I could do the same here.
If I understand correctly, you're in Germany. That would mean you have a RM-821 device. That would mean you have tons of options for flashing, Nokia Product Support for Store would be what you need. Just download the non-demo ROM for your country and flash it. If you're flashing a RM-821 ROM to a RM-821 device, you should be golden.
RM-821 ROM to a RM-820 device, not so much
It works. Nuff said.
HTC 8X demo mode -- ROM?
I've a similar issue, but with an HTC 8X.
Some guy on Craigslist sold my not-very-smart sister an HTC 8X Windows Phone 8 for $250. Of course, it is locked in demo mode and probably stolen. I've no idea to be honest. I would like to try to flash this demo mode HTC 8X phone into a regular AT&T phone.
I previously flashed a Windows 7.0 Samsung Focus phone w/ Mango through the wonderful instructions on this forum. I'm tempted to try it again, but I would appreciate any guidance on:
1. Finding the right ROM for a HTC 8X phone. It says:
OS version: 8.0.9905.12
Firmware revision: 1532.20.10012.502
Hardware revision number: 0002
2. Basic instructions on how to flash it (someone said navifirm-- do I just install it? etc.) where is it located?
3. Any thoughts on the process of flashing the ROM? Steps, etc.? I'm reasonably technologically savvy, but I don't code anymore these days so I'm not a whiz at this stuff.
Any help would be really appreciated! Thx.

1. Look over here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968578
2. Ask in the HTC 8X bit... Got a filling you will need to create a gold card, that's if they work with the new HTC devices. (Navfirm is for Nokia device.
