[CM7]Helping with translation of CM - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm surprised to see so little information about it, and i also see that even though most of the stings in the apps are translated, not all of them are. Therefor, i wan't to help translate CM7 to Norwegian(Nb), and get it up to date. Now, i have created a profile at github, and browsed around in there. Let's for instance say i want to help translate Contacts, i browse that link. Under android_packages_apps_Contacts/res/values-nb are the current translated file, and there's also a link forwarding to several translations which seems to be under evaluation. I see that the changes in the Norwegian translation has to stings where "programs" has been renamed to "applications", and it seems like two persons has approved the translation and two who has rejected the translation change. I suppose it will take 3/5 to approve, or 5 approved/rejected votes to take action on the change?
But what i want, is to get the source of translations, which i suspect is CyanogenMod/android_packages_apps_Contacts/blob/gingerbread/res/values/strings.xml (???), and translate the whole thing. Do i download the .xml, translate it and upload, or do i edit the existing one, adding missing strings etc, and is this done in a web UI? I would also like to include all the comment stings (in English), to make it more clean and easier to compare with the base/original if further changes are applied.
How will the process of approving the changes take place?

[Q] Mortplayer Default Skin Cache

I've installed the latest Beta MortPlayer v3.31 b77 and found a great iPhone skin (found here). After selecting this skin, Mortplayer asks if you want to cache the current default skin for faster startup, to which I replied 'Yes'.
I've since made a change to one of the graphics within the .mpz file but MortPlayer appears to be continuing to use the cached version. I've tried selecting other skins then selecting this skin again in hopes it would reload the .mpz but with no success.
Does anyone know where this cache is located or how I can force MortPlayer to re-cache the updated skin?
Thanks in advance
Hi
It seems SO unnecessary to open a thread when you can directly ask the theme designer !
I appologize if I've deeply offended you. I would imagine I'm not the only with this question. I've searched many sites, google included, without finding any answer so I (apparently incorrectly) assumed that a clearly defined thread would be benefital and easy to locate.
You are not in any way offending me, just the forum rules, I'm sure you mean well... The skin thread has barely 5 posts and none of them is from you, pls give the author some credit and ask him in his own thread before appealing to the million of Xda users.

Create cool customized icons!

I found a thread with an awesome way to create amazing text icons.
The creator just added a way to center your text by typing (center) without brackets in the x and y coordinate boxes.
Check it out, I'm in the process of customizing my phone's icons while waiting for Lestatious 1.1 to be released!

I went to search this forum (in the android section), typed in resource (well I cheated kind of since I knew the code word to use ) and this was the third link to show up. First was the kitchen (which most tutorials use), Second was an advice thread that had some links to resources, and this one was one that I also had bookmarked and has good info.
Honestly I'd say take a day to just read through (atleast scan through and just read the titles) of every thread in the Android chef section... Then you'll know which ones to bookmark and save to read for later reference.
(If this comes off as me being an ass, I'm sorry, I'm kind of buzzed and just trying to keep it short and simple lol).

Using Android Search Interface for searching stored SMS Messages

As a College Project, I have to create an Android App for searching the SMS Messages stored in the device. for eg. if one types "hi", then all the messages containing the word "hi" are displayed on screen. I know that this is directly possible in the new Android versions but now I can't change the topic and I'll have create such an app and complete it in January 2012!
I have searched on Google and have found 2 ways:-
1. Using the Mobdev Wiki Tutorial and searching for the messages, which is complex and I have not yet used databases for programming so it is fairly new for me.
2. Using the Android Search Interface for directly using Android's search UI and make things easier and simpler for me.
I need suggestions on which method is suitable and what other options are available. And how can the SMS Database be linked to the Android Search Interface and the messages be displayed properly on screen. Looking forward to your suggestions and answers, if you don't have time, please atleast give links to useful resources related to the above problem!
