How to use tasker to toggle gps on/off with my rooted SK17i android:2.3.4 build:4.0.2.A.0.62?
Ok tasker shows me some message about google changing something to android 2.3+ that prevents changing gps state w/o user interaction.
Can anyone recommend a stable rom capable of changing gps state without user interaction? Cyanogen is pretty buggy for now.
Aren't there any command lines that can be used to accomplish this using scripts (I knew very little above linux but i knew android is based on linux)?
How hard can it be to modify stock rom to allow gps toggle without user interaction (I'm no developer)?
Thanks for your time guys.
what do you mean by user interaction?
Every time I enable GPS thru a widget or settings I have to accept some aggreement.

Hmm this just came to me, is it possible for tasker click the agree button?
i think there no other way, same as me and others.
I've somehow manage to automate activation of GPS using tasker and secure settings (requires root). But keyguard must be off and no user activity for it to work. This task configures gps using secure settings which directly shows the agreement and press agree button. This is the closest I can get to automating this, hope someone finds this useful or can improve this. Thanks.
I just switched from CM7 to Hybrom on my SK17i and so far it's working great. The only thing I'm missing from CM is the lockscreen gestures, but the battery life is way better. I use Tasker to enable/disable the GPS as you described, and it works great. I recommend you check it out.

I found this cool widget that I read from android forums that you can place on your home screen to toggle the 3G data on/off for those that want to conserve the most battery. I think its handy.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.farproc.data.enabler&feature=search_result
Basically the widget toggles the following check box
Settings -> Battery & data manager -> Data delivery -> Data enabled
Elixir in the Android Market allows you to create customized widgets such as a 3G data toggle and a whole lot more. It's very cool. Give it a try it's free!
Is there any way this can be made into a real working toggle? I was hoping I could find a program out there that would let me do it but it seems I need some dev skills to accomplish this. It would be really cool to make an official Motorola 3g toggle.

Widgetsoid
If it a customized toggle widget ya need try widgetsoid from the Android market.
I think we hashed this all out back in November at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335818
Although I admit that I opened up the Data Enabler Widget apk and replaced the on/off images with ones like shown a couple posts above - instead of the radio antenna image shown in other thread (more like the stock 4G toggle).
CM9 has it built in! Woot! If not on CM9 try widgetsoid, an app that you can put a toggle on homescreen for mobile data and a metric **** ton of other toggles as well.
Hey XDA. I must query your limitless knowledge. I've recently started using hotspot shield vpn, and I have two vpn icons. One is a system icon that I can't hide (it's the one with the key icon, that I want hidden) and one with the green shield (it's animated, and I would prefer to keep it.)
So, I'm looking for a way to hide the one with the key. I've searched for an XPOSED module but haven't seen one that does what I'm asking. Any ideas?

This did the trick for me. I set up an OpenVPN server at home and was irritated that the openvpn app icon as well as the android vpn key notification icon were present. I was easily able to hide the stock key icon using the xposed app es0tericcha0s reccommended.
VPN permanent notification, even on block screen is very annoying indeed. So many configuration knobs in Android and you cannot get rid of it! In case of Opera Max is like an advertising, you see the Opera logo every time you watch at your blocked phone. incredible!
Hello all how can i change the optins that my current lock screen has?
It has a microphone, a lock and the camera. How can i change the microphone with the Phone to get staight to contacts from lockscreen? I used to have another device which at lock screen had Phone, Camera and The Lock icon.
Is there a way to change it or should i get an app that has more features?
Unfortunatley Not
The Default lock screen is very limited in customisation unfortunately. You can't even set a custom wallpaper you are limited to the ones included with the phone. So simply no is the answer to your question.
As for using a different lock screen application, this would most likely disable fingerprint support and increase battery consumption.
All we can do is hope for more features with the next update.

I was able to set a lock screen wallpaper to be honest with you all i want to know if you can replace the microphone thing which is in the left corner that says swipe to voice command with for example a shortcut to contacts or something which was supported in previous android phone that i owned.

Yes you can change it, but not with the stock rom. You have to install the xposed framework and Gravity Box. Then you can change it in the Gravity Box settings

Hello,
I am writing here because I have encountered an error and I cannot find a solution to fix it anywhere.
I have Redmi Note 5 with MIUI 11.0.3.
I clicked Optimise Battery and among other options to optimise the option "Save power when device is locked" was ticked by default. Than I clicked green button "Add X minutes". Than I realised this option causes the GPS to turn off when device is locked. But there is no way now to turn off this option "save power when device is locked". It is nowhere to be found in settings.
Looks like it is a software error, where battery optimizer turns on this option but there is no way to turn it off later in any way.
I am attaching a screenshot, you can see this option in "optimised" category and there is nothing to be done to turn this off.
Please help me how to disable this option, because having GPS when device is locked is important to me.
Thanks
Konrad Dolowy

You can't keep GPS on while screen is off and in power saver mode.
However you can keep google navigation on in the background, which in return can keep the GPS on no matter what is your state of your device.
Or you can download this app, it claims to keep GPS on in background. (Probably uses the same logic of google navigation)
I haven't tested the app though. And I think it would stop working once you turn power saver mode, and didn't add the app to whitelist.
I believe google find my device can keep GPS on in the background as well, even in power saver mode. (Since it has administrator permission)
I recommend trying google find my device first. I wouldn't feel safe sharing my location with too much apps, and google is enough.
Similarly you can try adding any app that uses GPS to the whitelist.
Hope I helped.
Hello,
I've been trying to edit this apk for some time now to be able to spoof time/date.
Its a app that we use for work that basically assigns us tasks where we have to complete a checklist or take temperatures every 2-3 hours.
The questions are always the same so the answers could always be the same as well.
The reason for this is that nobody is perfect and we miss time periods every so often where it marks the task as "missed" and cannot be made up.
Before we were able to go into time and date settings on our device and simply set it back in time and complete the task. Now the app doesn't allow even a log in with time changed.
I'm wondering if there is someway to automate the tasks with Tasker, or something similar or even any suggestions how to edit the apk to allow time changing?

This certainly may be possible with Tasker but more details are needed. Do you receive native android notifications when tasks are assigned? If so, I would look into Tasker coupled with AutoNotification and possibly AutoInput depending on how complex it is to answer the questions.
Using these 3, you would basically create a profile in Tasker for Event > Plugin > AutoNotification Intercept configured to look for notifications from this app. When the profile/event is triggered, the Tasker task fired would use AutoInput to fill out the answers and submit.
Granted, you may run into issues with a locked device using Android 11 or higher as there are restrictions on allowing apps to open by some background process when the lockscreen is engaged. There are some methods to work around this but you may need to get creative.
