P500 Craziness... - Optimus One, P500, V General

So I'm sorry if I shouldn't be creating a new thread for this. It's a pretty unique situation and I couldn't find it anywhere.
I had upgraded my P500 to official 2.3.3. I then decided "hey, I should try out some custom roms because this sucks...". I rooted with SuperOneClick, managed to install Clockworkmod recovery and the set out to find a nice new rom. I soon discovered that there weren't really any exciting ones that piqued my interest because of the new baseband. The baseband thing is also confusing the heck out of me. Anyways, I managed to KDZ Updater back to my stock firmware because I figured I might as well do something good out of this. So now I'm on 2.2.1, specifically LG v10v. This is a Koodo phone if that helps at all. Also, I'm pretty sure CWM is now wiped and super user access is gone too. Spent a good amount of time putting everything back on the silly thing yesterday lol.
First question: Am I now on new baseband or old baseband (having flashed with
KDZ)?
2nd: I keep seeing references to baseband 10 or 20 followed by a letter. Am I on baseband 10v? If I want to use a custom rom, do I need to change it to 10 a,b or c or something like that.
3rd: Seems like mixed reviews on this one all over the place. Can Rom Manager be successfully used on the P500 to install CWM or does it brick it?
Any other info you can think of would be terribly helpful. Please go easy on me! I'm not sure if I made a mistake by creating this post or not...

You can use RomManager to flash cwm, in the past you could softbrick your phone, but this issue is already solved.
With froyo you are on old baseband, so you can use almost any custom rom for old baseband. No need to flash any baseband for these roms.

Hello Crispus222 !
If you are on stock 2.2.1 V10v flashed by KDZ, you have the old baseband.
So if you wanna try custom ROMs you should search those who support the old BB.
But don't forget that you can change baseband without flash stock ROM via KDZ.
ROM Manager flash cwm recovery without problems on rooted phone, I have done this many times

1) Old baseband. If you've used a full stock 2.2.1 or lower rom, than you're on the old baeband now.
2) I'm on the old baseband and mine is 10v. So I'm assuming you're now on the old baseband! Congratulations!
3) Yes. ROM Manager CAN be used on the LG Optimus one whether you have the old or new basebands. Just install ROM manager, choose flash ClockworkMOD and then scroll down to "LGE Optimus One" and hit flash. After that, boot into recovery and you're done!

enjoy all goodies .
u r on old baseband after kdz flash.
now root using z4root . (file sharing sites remember!)
install rom manager from market and install cwm recovery n yeah it works without a glitch but its ur luck too.
reboot into recovery n there u go !

You are and have always been on OLD baseband as you have to flash the new one in a seprate step.roms don't come with any baseband included.10v\or\10s don't matter as that is OLD baseband.20g\or\20a is new baseband.Rom manager can Install CWM recovery on any p-500 sccuessfully.I would ROOT 1st before installing. The brick comes from flashing a corrupt (over the air) downloaded rom & flashing that.TWRP 1.1.1.1.XL is my choice for recovery but CWM is fine. The LGDMP tool is also my choice for flashing baseband & rescue my phone when things go wrong.ROMs run on either old baseband or new but the newer ones run both (but download the link you are going to run)choice.Hope this helps !

Thanks so much everyone! I appreciate the help a lot.

I don't know if I can change my rom, help pls

I decoded my phone two days ago, but it wasn't through an IMEI calculator, the guy used a VBOX or something, the idea is that he told me that I can't change my rom, which sucks. I just want to know if that's true, or the guy just didn't had the mood to explain things to me. I searched the net, but I couldn't find an answer and I don't want to risk it, because the bloody thing cost me .
Kernel vs is 2.6.32.9
Android is 2.2 vs. V10C-oct 2010.
If you guys could help me with some info, it would be great.
Well...I don't know what the guy used or why did he tell you that u can't change your rom ...
but, since, you have 2.2, I bet you can root it , install custom recovery and then flash a custom rom over your current one...in fact, I'm quite sure of it
Give it a try...you won't regret it...at least I didn't
EDIT: Oh wait....10C is 2.2.1 which is unrootable ( uptill now )...
So, your only option is to downgrade it to 2.2 ( v10B ... I think ) via KDZ tool and then root it.
I see, so there's no danger of "re-locking" my phone then? .
And one more thing, because this phone is kind of new (my first android) I got to ask (I'm sure I can find some posts around here somewhere and I will search, but I just need to know what to look for first ), Is there anyway that I can back-up my current rom? (just in case things go south)
Well
As far as I understand things, the only way you could reactivate the network lock would be by undoing whatever that guy did.
That could happen if the unlock method he used implies modifications in the ROM area of the phone, but if this would be the case, unlocking would be so easy, just by using an LG official ROM update and so rewriting that portion of the code.
But I think that the network lock might be in the Radio ROM.
So maybe you are safe to upgrade/downgrade main ROM of your phone, but for safety you should not update the Radio ROM?
Anyone else has ideeas?
Also, this kind of supports my theory: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711750
Don't know of any locks .... (currently using optimus one)
But...try downgrading with official LG Rom using KDZ tool and then IF it locks up ask your friend ( who unlocked it before ) to do so again ... maybe it'll work but, no promises.

Nxt time don't answer if u arnt exactly sure.
Thanks a lot guys, it worked, I downgraded to 2.2 and rooted it. The phone is still unlocked, no problems, he probably rewrote the radio and (I assume) he just didn't bother explaining .
Much appreciated.

Few Questions

Hey,
I have recently flashed and installed a custom CM7 rom to my Galaxy 5 but i am not happy with the results and i wish to go back to Stock 2.2- i stupidly didnt create a backup, so can anyone point me in the right direction on how to get back to stock, i am completely new to this kind of stuff so please try and keep it simple!
Thanks
ok, what method did you use to flash this rom?
You may have to use a different way to flash back to 2.2.
This post : http://www.madteam.co/forum/development/samsung-galaxy-5(gt-i5500)-rom-archive/ : has all the roms for our phone, so if you scroll down, after the third black line, you will see Official Roms's.
Look under that and you will see different regions 2.2 roms.
If you need any help with the flashing, just ask here
Thanks a bunch.
I flashed my rom using Odin to install Clockworkmod v4 then installed CM7 vis Clockworkmod.
Il have a read of that thread now but im pretty new to this so i may need some help

few questions and which good rom to choose

Hi all,
it can be a very N00B question but this thread is a mess and I can not find things I really need.
I succesfully rooted and completely modified both HTC G1 and the new Galaxy Nexus, but now, a friend of mine has this LG P500 and im looking around trying to find all the necessary to root - recovery etc ..
now..
I will use SuperOneClick because it is a 2.3.3 Android FW.
I will Flash AmonRa recovery 3.06 found in a P500 Android development Thread, as flashable zip.
Im gonna use .35 kernel from Franco, 'cos Im using it on my GN and it works like a charm.
But, I cannot find a good rom!! is there anybody who can help me?
This phone now is:
kernel 2.6.35.10
android version 2.3.3
the only things I know
Thank u all!
you can use the kang version by adam. It is CyanogenMod 7.2.
http://www.mediafire.com/?p0di9g79ck80a0c
For the recovery, i will suggest you use ClockWorkMod. Download it from the market. The latest version is 5.0.0.6 and please be ensured to flash the 5.0.2.0 recovery version as the latest version is buggy.
I'm downloading it!! thank you
do you know if there is any new Radio ? I can't tell you which baseband this phone is using now btw, she cant find the "version" from "about phone"

If you before had stock gingerbread then you had the new baseband version. If not, you need to flash the new baseband as all new roms are now based on new baseband.
Follow this link for flashing new radio.

cool!! thank u Im ready to go now!

[Q]Update from 2.3.5

So, i need to be super careful as this is the wifes phone.
Model number = GT-I9100
Android Version = 2.3.5
Baseband = I9100XXKI3
Kernel version = 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKI3-CL577579
Build number = WanamLite.KI3.V3.0
We bought this phone off local forums a while ago, and it seems to me that it's already hacked to a degree at least. custom rom already?
It's got CWM(v2.0 CF-Root 4.1) on it already which i can boot to through an app on the phone and manually... (ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.0.2)
It also seems to have superuser installed? (su binary outdated notification, currently 3.1.3) i assume i have root as well?
So question is.. from here.. how do i update to latest version of CWM and android etc WITHOUT stuffing it up and ending my life as i know it?

Download the laatest jb custom rom from Xda which ever android version you want like 4.1.2, 4.2.2, 4.3 and put it in your ext/internal sd card and go to recovery mod and do a full wipe as you are coming from GB and flash your rom.
Don't firget to follow the procedure which was mention on the rom thread which you are going to flash.
Good luck
The phone is currently running a custom rom. You need to ask yourself the question 'Do I want to upgrade to a more recent custom rom (I'm sure there are recent WanamLite builds if that floats your boat), or do I want to upgrade to a recent stock rom & maybe leave the phone rooted ?'.
If you want to upgrade to a custom rom, go to the development sections, read up on some roms & try some out. You should be able to flash these with the CWM version that's currently on the phone; but as always though, read/follow the particular instructions for flashing the rom in question which are always on the first page of the thread devoted to the rom & are always very clear/simple.
If you want to 'upgrade' to a recent stock rom, get one for your country/carrier from Samfirmware, and flash it with Odin (How ? Thread stickied near top of Q&A has instructions). If you then want to re-root the phone (if you flash a stock rom, you'll lose root), again, in that same thread there's instructions on how to do so easily (there are also guides stickied near the top of the General section).
Thanks guys.. just wasn't sure if it was that simple or not
I'd like to update her phone to the newest custom vanilla android rom as possible (not samsung)
will go searching now.. (was looking at NEATROM)
What's this Aroma stuff?
And do i need to update to a newer CWM at all?
EDIT: Ok.. well all done.. seems to be good
It is simple;if everything goes to plan. But anything can go wrong with stuff not working.
Backup your efs folder and make a nand so you can get back to where you started.
Then read the rom thread for install advice and bugs etc.
And Mistahbungle could accomodate your wife if you muck up her phone......lol

But everything seems to be ok so far..
Cheers
You dont need to know what it is,although you can research it if you want.Just backing it up can prove vital if you need it.
A phone is a bit handier if it can make calls......lol

[Q] The Most Stable Custom ROM for L9 P765

Dear friends,
It looks like we lost few great dev so far, and face a lot of abandoned rom. Since then, i would try to use one custom ROM for my daily driver, and to use it a long time (since i would go abroad and will not flashing the device on abroad). Which custom ROM is most stable for daily use, and no need to update baseband (because i found it so hard to update). Thanks friends..

Hello.
I'm using currently Rammars Paranoid 4.4.4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-l9/development/rom-paranoidandroid-4-6-t2933958 , been using it for daily use(mostly twitter, whatsapp and instagram), no problem with that, pretty smooth fast, i suggest using Nova launcher, and if you like eye candy, get the Androidl theme from playstore, as far as you keep away from gaming, and really heavy apps, it is stable. No kernel panics, no unexpected shutdowns/reboots. All great. But the onlydownside, surprinsgly the best battery life i stumbled upon was for rammars lollipop, 5.3.2 the most stable to be exact.
Still, i`m right now about to restore CWM backup of a nandroid (v20h) to be back on stock, becaue, honestly, there won't be a more stable ROM than stock.
If you still have a stock rom installed, updating rom and baseband won't be difficult, if OTA or the LG Flash Tool won't give you anything newer than v20h(like in Europe) you need the appropiate KDZ file.
With a custom rom, seemingly the LG drivers and tools no longer recognize the phone, and getting back to stock or updating bb gets a bit complicated. I wrote down my sad story in Artas' thread, an finally I even succeeded, it's all there.

Sorry for offtopic, but getting back to stock is pretty easy if u use NANDROID, but if you want a full wiple, like the way you bought it, no CWM no nothing, KDZ flashing does the trick.
I'm sorry, didn't notice the baseband thing, on what baseband are you at?
hi i'm used 4.4.4. artas and think it's the better i have a p768
