Hdmi through wifi - HTC EVO 3D

I read somewhere it's possible and I'm getting a new tv.
Can someone tell me what I need to get this to work besides a tv with wifi
Thanks

DLNA enabled tv. Check out the media share app that's pre installed.

Ahh another helpful xda troll member. Thanks for your post, now stfu if you can't be helpful

Its the connected media app. It should say in the TV specs if it has dlna. If it does then whenever your phone and TV are on the same wifi network you can stream photos and videos to the tv! Its quite nice haha

Thanks guys

But your TV must be able to decode or playback the file type you are streaming via DLNA. This is not like HDMI mirroring. Not sure if you can do that via WiFi on EVO 3D.

Get one of the Samsung Smart TV's. What size and price are you looking at getting?

So far best I've seen are the Samsung smart tvs as far as picture and amount of well rounded techy features. They also have been updating the firmware very regularly in that line lately bringing new features and such.

if you happen to have a PlayStation 3 you can stream dlna to it from your phone or computer and hook to any TV.

I just got a 55inch Samsung super slim smart TV on Amazon for 1700! It's amazing
Swyped from mah 3vo!

Just get the free iMediashare app
Im lovin it!

Hdmi mirroring over wifi isn't here yet. Samsung is working on it and standards are not final yet. But hdmi over wifi would be like a laptop's clone display or the evo 3d's mhl adapter to connect to hdmi. It won't be limited to just specific files but full screen sharing - as in whatever you see on the phone will show on the tv. Hopefully we'll see this later this year.

Yes and no. I think they just didn't bother to check the specifics of compatibility.

Are two that sell the one directly made for the Flyer using the extMicroUSB that it uses. The thing I am curious about is... if it's MHL, will a normal MHL cable work? Like the one for the Sensation?
Also the phonearena review actually tested this function and it seems to work fine:
http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/HTC-Flyer-Review_id2747/page/3
Nice thanks for the links
Apparently it can use a normal MHL cable. Here is a review of them where they use the adapter from the Samsung Infuse 4G. If you check out the video part it also shows that the flyer is capable of mirroring automatically. The output resolutions are 480p and 720p. I suggest checking it out because it's neat to see the flyer connecting to an HDTV
The fact that it can use a standard MHL adapter/cable is nice as it means options as far as pricing goes:

Here you go. Honestly it looks great and you can really appreciate the Flyer's screen on this vid as well. Also it seems there's no lag on the HDMI out from the little they show.

This is great news. I bought a flyer not sure if I was gonna keep it. But the mhl cord seeled the deal. I love it already and I don't even own the pen yet.

Can the note be mirrored to a TV?

Coming from my Photon I really like having the mini hdmi port to hook up to my TV to stream movies at friends houses and what not.
Does anybody know if the note has an adapter and the capability to do this?

If you can stream media to your TV, the included Allshare app works really well for this. (I was really surprised, I thought it was just more useless bloatware)
If you have a Samsung TV this phone pairs up really nicely. Allshare works great, and there is another program called SwipeIt that pushes photos and videos to your tv.
Skifta (which I currently have on my Nook Color, haven't tested it on the Note since it already has Allshare) not only lets you share content with DLNA devices, but can actually act as an intermediary/remote control as well. For example, using Skifta I can tell my PS3 Media Server to push a movie to my Samsung TV. Now if only the TV didn't ask for permission before displaying it...that could be a lot of fun screwing with friends while they're watching something else. :3
yea my TV is a 4 year old Panasonic plasma so the only way to get anything on it is through hdmi.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Yeah ive used the hdmi out from my infuse with my note, a/v both work great even on my 51 inch screen. The samsung allshare app actually works really well if you have any newer samsung components.

The evo 3d only supports mhl out to tv. That is usb to hdmi. If your tv doesn't support mhl or you don't know if it does, get a mhl adapter.

Turning my photon into a nexus Q

Ok so I've got my deactivated Photon and I'm repurposing the device as an Android media player. I'm basically trying to make it a nexus Q/Google TV like device. Looking for suggestions on how to best achieve this. I would like to be able to control the device from my phone (Note 2) as the nexus Q allows you to modify it's music queue.
Some background: phone is unlocked, I'm using an HD dock to connect to my TV or stereo.

Buy an HDMI Cable & download an airplay server app from the market (the is one like that)
and an AIrplay Client
Hdmi out on my photon always looked terribly pixelly. I almost could not stand it but mine is locked so maybe custom roms and kernels fix that issue.

Thinking of doing this on a 32" bedroom TV. How are you all controlling it, do you just set up whatever video you want and then plunk it into the dock, or do you have a wireless keyboard/mouse?

Well that's one of the things I'm trying to figure out. If I can get it to behave like the Nexus Q then I could control it from any Android device. Unfortunately I have yet to figure out how to accomplish this.

This will only matter to me if the chromecast supports it, and they never said it did.

It's a wireless display technology, so you can broadcast video from your device to another display over WiFi.

OK that's cool thanks so would this work with a computer or laptop or does it need a certain device from Google? As I see some ofmyounare saying you need a miracast enabled device to use it with.

Like you said, has to be a miracast enabled device. I don't know of any computer program to enable it. I believe the devices are mostly smart tv and some blu-ray players. I'm hoping the new chromecast will support it.

If the chromecast device works you'll have a smart tv for $35 assuming you live in the US. I don't think it is available outside of the us at the moment. The device is pretty small, around the size of a large USB thumb drive judging from the pictures and plugs into hdmi.

Awesome I do love in the us though I'm currently out of the country but I'll be back in 1 month. I'll have to look up this chrome cast. So you just plug it in your TV and it uses the TV as a monitor and sort of makes it a smart TV? Well if I understood right that's sweet especially for only 35 dollars.

They have added Miracast but the performance isn't great on my PTV3000. However, my PTV3000 is pretty terrible so it could easily be of no fault of the Nexus 10.
I thought I noticed a new option but I couldn't remember if it was there the whole time

Chromecast does not support Miracast.
And given that it's only in the 2.4ghz range only, that's probably a good thing. In most of my use cases, you probably wouldn't want to use it without 5ghz.
It's designed a little differently though - instead of going from the internet, through the device, to your monitor/TV, Chromecast takes the content directly from the internet using your phone more like a remote. The quality of the stream should be much better.
But of course you lose the ability to mirror the screen of your device on your monitor/TV.
I prefer the better quality stream for most wireless streaming and will use my HDMI cable when I need a mirror as the performance was better with that anyway.
