Hi Guys, Which rom is the best ICS rom at the moment?
I just installed the "ONLINE* Δ AndyX ROM™ v5.1 - XXLPB - Android ICS 4.0.3" rom but maybe there are better ICS ROM?
Please share your experience with your ICS ROM: Battery life and stability.
Thnx!

Best ICS rom is the one you try yourself because no two users will have the same experience with a given rom/kernel due to different phone setup, different usage patterns & the phones themselves coming out of the factory slightly different.
I'm betting this thread is closed within a few hrs.

Close topic please

oke but when allot of users are telling for example that one ICS rom is perfect for them it does tell something about the rom itself.
But maybe it's to soon to ask which ICS rom is the best because all ICS roms are not stable enough for daily usage..
Maybe i rather think about that first before creating this topic AArrgh it's monday.. can't think clear
If a MOD can close this topic, go ahead.... sorry guys

So following your logic, what will be the difference in this thread, lots of users telling their opinion, and other threads where they already told their opinion? :/

What's going on? I used to delete/close maybe 1 of these every day or two, now I literally am closing 3 per day. It's like some "what's the best rom" botnet has come to life

[Q] ROM/Kernel suggestions

Hi all, I have a Galaxy Nexus which has been rooted and running a custom ROM/Kernel and my girlfriend has just got a Galaxy S II. I will be rooting her phone and am looking for suggestions for which ROMs and kernels to use!
If possible a gingerbread suggestion and ICS suggestion would both be great and kernels for either.
She is really looking for better battery life so if you could bear that in mind when making a suggestion, that would be great!
So far I have found Resurrection remix ROM as that seems quite popular...
Thanks in advance!
There is no such thing as the "best rom or kernel for battery life you use your phone differently to everyone else and your phone came out of the factory slightly differently to everyone else's.
A rom or kernel that runs well for me might not run well for you.
I suggest you go the development sections of the forum & read the first few pages and the the last 10-20 pages of the particular threads devoted to different roms & kernels. That way you will get an idea of the features/pluses/minuses of each rom & kernel, and also see other users' experiences with that rom or kernel
Then you can test different roms & kernels for yourself to find one that works best for you.

I think you may have mis-read my OP. I only stated that I was looking for *better* battery life as I already know that each phone/battery is different.
I have already looked through the first few pages and like I said I found the Resurrection remix to be quite popular but I was also looking for any other suggestions as usually there will be only a handful of ROMs that the majority of people use because of their high quality etc.
The problem with going through testing different ROM/Kernel combinations is that (as stated before) the phone is not mine, it belongs to my girlfriend, so I will be unable to be there for most of the time that the phone is being used and if there are instabilities, I will not be able to see it.
This is the 2nd reason of why I made this topic, from getting suggestions, it will show the more popular ROMs/Kernels and also narrow down the search greatly.

You haven't actually provided any input here have you. The op has already said hes look at some threads and he just wants some input from others now?
Also, as you can see he said it is for his GF. I seriously doubt she is going to want him to test different ROM's and Kernels for her...
Anyway OP, i suggest Ressurection rom remix too, my friend has an S2 and speaks highly off it./
No idea about kernels though.
Really ?
And you obviously know that there is pretty much zero tolerance for these threads in SGS2 Q&A, don't you ?
Thought not.
And that's the entire sum of your contribution is it ?
Thought so.
Thanks for playing champ.

I fully agree with MistahBungle...You've been here for quite a while and yet you respond to this thread as if it was allowed...
To OP:
Try out every single rom that is out there and decide for your self which rom works for your girlfriend..Why the hell should we work for you? Do it your self...
Have a nice day....
Hi NAM_Killer
I understand your situation is slightly different from the other ROM suggestion threads (we have closed/deleted literally hundreds). My suggestion for you would to be to check this thread that we have allowed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1515010
And to read the various kernel and ROM threads themselves. ALL of them will have users posting their experiences with battery life and stability. The information is there.

[Q] ROM suggestion

Hi guys. So recently my sister just came back home for her term break and she's leaving soon. She wants an ICS ROM that is fully stable. So if anyone knows any ROMS for the GT-i9100G <-- Notice the G ( flashed an i9100 rom once and it did not end up well ) , can you please leave a reply? Thanks!
A little pointer:
This thread is about to get closed. You're not allowed to ask for suggestions as it's along the same line of "which is the best?". Try some ROMs and see which is the best for her.
also if anyone knows a fix to this, i'll be very much grateful. After flashing the wrong ROM ( an i9100 ROM ) I restored to original firmware via Odin. And after that I realised that the vibration does not work anymore. Is there a fix to this?

Tough. Not our problem. Mods will close this thread soonish with a bit of luck. As already suggested, try some roms out until you find one you (she) likes.
Edit - If you do a search, there are dozens and dozens of these threads already (many recent ones despite mods closing these as soon as they're alerted to their presence; mods are really busy/live in different timezones & people have often already replied to the threads/given recommendations before the threads are closed) & they should give you some ideas.
Besides which, as evidenced in your other thread that you also asked for ROM suggestions, people will end up just blindly suggesting ROMs (for the i9100, for example) that won't work on your device. (an i9100G)
You should try and flash a new Sammy 4.04 ROM, I hear the performance and battery life is amazing. One user got 7 days on stock battery with wifi turned on the whole time whilst getting over 9000 scores in quadrant. I hear Checkrom V7 is getting really good reviews....

Checkrom v7 is an i9100 ROM. The guy has an i9100G.
So I understand your need for information fast but this is whats the "best" rom. In the end what you think (or her) is stable is not what everyone else thinks. My best advice is read and try it out and make that decision for yourself. This thread is closed

[Q] Which ROM Do U Like Best? I want some advice.

First of all, I need to thank for all the ROM makers.
I'm a rookie of 9300... I want to flash a perfect ROM... So far I've tried Revolution HD, Omega and some other ROMs... Each of them has its advantage. Well, I haven't tried 411 ROMs. All I flashed are 404 ROMs. I just want a stable, smooth and battery friendly ROM.
I want to hear your advice. Which 404 ROM do you like best? And how about 411?
There are too many excellent ROMs!!! I just can't make the decision...
These kind of posts are not allowed on xda.
The best ROM is subjective.
Read through the OP of ROM threads and make your decision that way.
No need for anyone else to post in this thread.

You misunderstood me, bro. I just want some suggestions. I know there's no best ROM. All of them are excellent. I asked which do you LIKE best, not which IS the best.
I admit there was something unclear, or something wrong in my post. I changed it a little. Anyway, I mean no harm.
Every GS3 phone is not 100% same. Two people with same rom may not have same user experience. Keep flashing until you found the one you like most.
Happy flashing

I don't think the OP asked for 'the' best ROM, he said, "I want to hear your advice. Which 404 ROM do you like best? And how about 411?" Seems to me that has opinion built in, not calling for some kind of judgement as to what is the only 'best' one.
@owensnoopy - Start with what you want from your phone. Use the ROM threads to work out what things are being altered or removed or added and see if you want those things or not.
Have a back-out plan - if the ROM you install isn't what you want, what is your fallback ROM? So far I have made sure I've got the stock version of the custom one I am flashing - my fallback is to that rather than going back to something I've already decided I want an improvement on...
I just flashed the 4.1.1 leak from Sammobile - seems to be performing well so far and my backups restored and (so far) haven't had the weird **** I saw with a couple of the custom ROMs I tried. I'm using Slaphead20's linked spreadsheet to work out what I want to remove. Once I have it how I want I'll save it out and tr4y some of the others coming in - DLI5 is leaked and will have custom ROMs based on it soon.
From Sammobile...
We of SamMobile would like to give you the latest I9300XXDLI5 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean Test firmware for the Galaxy S III. I9300XXDLI5 is the most stable leak EVER. Almost all issues from the previous TEST builds have been fixed and we are very happy with this build.
This build is very much near perfect so we believe that Samsung will actually start rolling out the Official Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S III very soon. The day Samsung starts to roll out the official update you will be able to install the latest update through Kies or OTA update. We are getting leaks almost everyday so we believe that the final Official Jelly Bean update will be released in the next week.

I think the only way to have your 'perfect' ROM is to install something close to what you want and mod it for your own use.

I really like Wanam v2.3... It's smooth and battery friendly. You could also try different combinations of rom and kernel, that is one of the greatest things of android.
I'm addicted to flash right now! Just try!
OP, I understand you are just trying to get input, but opinions will vary, and so will how the rom runs on a particular phone. This will only cause problems here, so before it does I'm going to close this. Please try them out for yourself. :good:

[Q] New JB (4.1.2/4.2.2) ROM?

Well, after a while (too much time) with dual boot ICS ROMs - Stock 4.0.3 LPG & PFittech ROM 4.0.4 (with siyah kernel), I kinda lost with all the new ROMs, all looks the same but one have options that other haven't and vice versa....
First I wanna know if there is any stable JB ROM (AOKP, not intresting in Stock)?
The 4.2.2 ROMs are stable enough? what the main problems this ROMs have?
I made a pool, just to know a little bit more about the statistic (if someone will cooperate ) of how many users using each ROM, also can post here and share recommands...I want to flash a new ROM and hope to get some info before I'm doing that
Aokp 4.1.2 official is perfectly stable n works great with siyah kernel 5. Its has no problem at all.
Some roms 4.2.2 are not perfect.they work well but most of them have a very poor battery duration.
In my opinion the only 4.2.2 roms i d use d be: sentinel rom. Aokp. Slimbean. I tested a lot of roms 4.2.2( cm rootbox carbon hct thinking etc) n in this 3 i had no problems at all n good battery life( liquid smooth 2.4 is also great. But liquidsmooth team stop supporting our device so the rom file is lost)

Don't know where you find any mention to "bettet/best" rom, all I ask is if the JB roms are stable enough to flash (its been a while last time I've checked) and just for the record to know which rom ppl here using (from the above, cuz all of them looks almost the same)
I also would like to know if there is any bugs or something I should know about the new versions before I'm flashing it.
But if you don't want to help with this, its fine by me.
@Raagh - thanks for reply mate, good to know that the 4.1.2 versions are finally stables!
There are bugs, as always. We got threads about it and fixes for -almost - all of them.
There's no "better ROM" mention, you're right. Tho there are a couple of queries about how stable are those ROM you happened to mention.
You need to try them out one by one or you can read the 1000 pages of the official jb thread sticked in the general forum.
That being said there's no room for any advice on what ROM you should flash, so it won't be -as- a better ROM thread.

all depends oh what flavor you like ... all the ROM's have there own features dislikes and likes to every individual person... as in kernels as well its matter of preference of what you like ...good luck hope you find the one you like
Its perfectly clear that this is basically a "What is best rom" thread which is against the rules!
If you want to know what is the best/most stable or however you want to put you should TRY THEM AND FIND OUT!
All these type of threads do is result in the same subjective opinions nothing more, If you want those kinds of threads dont create new ones use the search button!
Also READ sticky topics!
Thread reported for obvious reasons!
Sheer laziness :-/
Maybe its because of the poll that I've opened you may tought its "another BEST rom thread".
Seems like some people here getting 'self-righteous', since the last time I've visited...
A simple question that become a spam one, thanks to the 'righteous' "guards" // AKA bootlickers.
I pretty 'seated' about flashing new ROMs, I know most of you don't, but I've flashed a lot of ROMs before I've got the two I mention at the first post, you can call it lazyness, I call it doing home-work before flashing 10 ROMs, I prefer focus on 2 or 3 ROMs to check...
Anyway, I have no idea how to delete the poll (some dumbs may thought its 'what is better rom' post because of this stupid poll, the aim was to see the distribution of the people who use these popular roms, but no one never choose anyway.)
Still - I've got my answers, thanks to @Raagh @gastonw and @slimlo for the informative answers, I naively thought it was a simple question and after a while people could direct me more to something specific.
You can close this thread, thanks again for the above guys and for the 'self-righteous'//bootlickers - hope you'll had a better popularity next time.
The question is, why shouldn't you flash & test a bunch of roms to find one that has what you want/one you like the same as almost everyone else here ? The whole point of hanging around a place like XDA is you like messing around with your phone - yourself. Not have everyone else do it for you.
If that's not your bag, you're probably in the wrong place.
Thread closed as its a Best ROM thread.

Recommend me a ROM suited for my taste!

Hello, I know people asking for BEST ROM is annoying but I want to ask based on my tastes which are:
-Improved Battery Life
-Fast
-no bloatware
-looks like stock firmware (so no exaggerated themes and icons)
P.S I have been on OMEGA forever, it's my first custom rom I ever used for 1 year and now I'm sick of it, v35 (I think) was fine at the time and then after I updated to v37, to v42, etc and now too many new bugs and updating is too often for very minor changes and battery life has got worse.
Now I have a new S3 so I want to try a new firmware.:good:

Still categorizes as a best rom thread. There are a bunch lying around so don't be lazy and try them all because in the end only you can tell what best for your device and not other peoples' opinion. One more thing you should post questions on the Q&A section and not the General section.
Source
As a Development Forum we are just as much (if not more) about the journey. I've read so many comments like "I don't have time to read all of the threads" or "I don't care how it works, just that it does". These very statements are contrary to the heart & soul of XDA-Devs and that is why the backlash is so strong.
Let me be very clear on this: IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT UNDERSTANDING THE JOURNEY THEN YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T BE HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
