Futuristic circle based UI concepts - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hmm I was wondering if it is possible to create a launcher or probably a whole skin for android with a totally different launcher that functions differently such as a few examples here here etc. Hmm these images were taken off google and were found from else mobile and corning designs.
Hmmm I was wondering if we could fully utilize the screen of our android devices to support a launcher like the microsoft tabletop and so on. Features may include
1. multi touch interface
2. simple gesture interface
3. interactive infographics
4. Touch circle (a tap creates a circle with informations or shortcuts and a double tap creates a larger in depth circle)
Currently these are just a compilation of ideas but I was hoping that such skin could be done, if its a possibility, I might want to proceed with this project when I have the resources. Thanks everyone for your views

Reserved just in case for pics

Use circle launcher from the market lol

[Q] Launcher Idea for 2.4. Any devs think they can pull it off?

Hi guys,
I've been reading up about Ice-Cream Sandwich and apparently it will have face tracking abilities. I saw a pretty awesome demo yesterday on how face tracking can make for an amazing glasses free 3D interface so I've been thinking, maybe someone can implement this into a launcher to give Android a little more oomph in the eye-candy department?
My idea is this. I was looking at the animations on my MIUI setup and noticed how the icons on the next homescreen soft of float up from the back when you swipe through the homescreens.
Would it be possible to create a launcher that layers all you icons on top of each other, sort of like a 3D grid, with the icons ranging all the way from the top layer fully in focus, and the lower layers fading out into perspective. When you swipe the top layer to the right, it will go all the way to the bottom while the next layer floats into perspective with all the underlying layers shifting upwards as well.
The facetracking will give you a 3D view of the icons, so moving your head will in turn cause the viewing angle on the phone to change accordingly. I'm not a graphics artist so I cant really show you a diagram, but I can try and put something together if needed.
Does anyone think they could be able to create something like this?

[Q] Could I design my app in Photoshop and maintain compatibility?

I was wondering why people don't completely design a UI in Photoshop when it has the potential to look so awesome. I wanted to make the whole UI in Photoshop, set it as the background for the app and then use invisible buttons/images on top to make different portions of the background clickable. I've tried this and it works! Yay! Now obviously on a different resolution the background will be scaled down and so will the buttons (or scaled up) but will they still be in the same relative position so that functionality is maintained? i.e. Will this UI be compatible on different phones/resolutions? IMO, it should be, but then the question arises, why doesn't anybody use this method? It creates so much potential for awesomely designed apps...

LGOG Screenshot Thread

[EDIT] Mods, please delete! Did not notice existing screenshot thread until I had posted this. (I searched for screenshot, but the thread author titled the thread with "screen shot")
My current configuration:
Rooted
Project FreeGee v0.5
[ROM] The Base v0.5
All Homescreen apps displayed via Folder Organizer
GO Launcher EX default theme (UI 3.0)
GO Weather EX
Grid size 6x4
The travel, listen, productivity, and android folders are scrollable to access more apps within those folders.
I have less than 20 days of experience on Android, so if anybody has any advice about how I can make this more functional, I'm all ears. I do have one question...How do I remove the two battery indicators in the notifications of my status bar? I don't need three indicators on my status bar!
Geebus I've never seen that many icons on a phone screen.

I tried out different things with folders, but I ultimately decided that what I wanted most out of a smartphone was the ability to access any app as fast as possible. After all, why buy a phone as fast as this one if I'm going to have to spend 4 seconds navigating to whichever app I want to use?
After unlocking, it takes a maximum of one swipe, one scroll, and one tap to open any app. The vast majority of apps simply take one swipe and one tap to open. I used most of these apps on the iPhone for so long that I'm familiar enough with the icons that labels aren't necessary and only take up valuable screen real estate.

[Q] PS3 XMB style launcher - needs help

So here is the idea, a X-Cross Media Bar (XMB) style interface launcher that can be used on android devices, phones or tablets, but I plan on using it on my N7 since I use a Bluetooth keyboard I use for remote desktop and chrome and a pc xbox controller for games from time to time I have been trying to figure out how to make a decent android home screen that interacts like the XMB controls wise but have come up short.
I have found quite a few threads and other pages for stuff like this that has moved nowhere in the past and was hoping you guys might be able to get something in some sort of solution to my desire for a clean interactive interface. The closest thing i have, thanks to one of my friends who first came up with the idea but I have obsessively been trying to find a way to perfect, is using Nova launcher with folders set to tap to open a set app and swipe up to open the folder and a custom icon based off a PS3 theme pack I took the images from all arranged in an XMB style (picture linked) with the Wave Life Wallpaper to give it that PSP/PS3 look.
Basically all I want is an interface that interacts like the XMB, can be controlled either with directional buttons or by swiping across the screen (or tapping the icon of what you want if possible). But the big kicker here is that it has to support each column set acting as a customizable folder, like in Nova, and a standard app drawer where you can see all your apps. I don't even care if this requires xposed, a different launcher, and widgets, I want it and have done everything short of trying to code it myself. (probably not a good idea, I'm a network guy, not a good programmer)
All the pages I have come across in search of the pot of gold:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104989
http://home.gna.org/gp2xmb/
https://code.google.com/p/xpmb/
http://boards.dingoonity.org/jxd-devices/xmb-launcher-for-android-5891/
The second to last one was a launcher somebody made, and believe it or not runs on 5.0.2, but has some issues and does not really let you change anything. The last Link is an actually functional one but does not allow for much customization.
What I am thinking of is more of a launcher that allows you to create columns for certain things and select which apps fill them like a folder does, allows you to have whatever wallpaper (static, scrolling, live) and has customization options. If somebody out there can program this and get it working I would pay for it. It just seems like such a usable interface for when using a controller, keyboard, or even on a touchscreen as a way different way to have everything organised. Although a standard app drawer would still be nice to avoid having every app in a column and just the ones you frequently use (I basically want an XMB in place of multiple desktops on the home screen)
Just let me know if anybody can help me figure this out.

[Feature request] - WINDOW SCROLLBARS - basic desktop functionality

Hello,
first of brilliant work.
There are only one thing missing from the basic desktop (in this case laptop) functionality, which stop me from using this on a daily basis.
The problem is that the windows don't have any scrollbars. It very challenging to browse websites (i have to long press and drag my finger on the minute trackpad).
I am sure many users will view this as a powerful alternative of a laptop os, such as i do.
Hope you can implement these features in a near future.
Keep it up.
Regards
Any advance made in this?
Ive bought a bew computer becaus emy previous wasnt compatible now im loving it i definitely miss the scrol. Mine is touch screen but i can just image your pain..

it is very difficult to get anything done with a trackpad without scrollbars, just take a look at all the fus when google devs removed the scrollbars from chrome... they had to revert it back due to public demanding them.
But even with a mouse the scrollbars are usefull because you can easily go to a specific place on a web page (just an example)
For track pads use two fingers and slide your fingers up or down.
Does anyone know how to enable scroll bars or scrubber bars in Remix OS? I have seen this option in UI Launchers e.g.: CM Launcher with some of its installable themes. However, Remix OS does not allow you to install your own UI Launcher. Furthermore, does the default ui launcher of Remix OS allow you to install themes because then one could create one's own installable theme with scroll bars and scrubber bars.
This key feature is still not implemented in remix beta
Do developers read this fórum?

I've been successful with installing Nova Launcher. Perhaps same method would work for other launchers?

NOVA Launcher Working (method may work for other launchers)
So i guess scrollbars is just to dificult to develop.
No scroll bars is a makes it unusable for me.

Yes.... completly.
To bad other people don't see this. I guess it is because they use a mouse/touch instead of trackpad.
