Okay I know this is a noob question so PLEASE excuse my noob-ism. Not sure if this should be in Q&A or Dev so please move to the correct section if I posted in the wrong one.
Okay, so my phone was originally 4.0.4 with a 1.19 HBOOT and 4.1 Sense. I rooted my phone, read up on a couple of threads and youtube videos regarding how to flash CM10 and from what I got if you have 1.19 HBOOT you can't just flash it using TWRP because you can't go S-OFF. Here is where I was a bit confused and think I went wrong. I read in the description of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsQKOhqdPpM that if you aren't S-OFF that there is a workaround, which linked me to this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29417266&postcount=1397 . So the 1st option said that it's possible to flash using Flash Image GUI to flash CM10 THEN to flash it in recovery, which I did. However now that I look closely at the pics it says only for EVO4G and the 3D. Here's where I'm at, Flashed using Flash Image GUI, then rebooted to HBOOT, then recovery, then flashed using TWRP. It looked like a success after rebooting because I seen the CyanogenMod boot screen but it's been about 25 minutes and it's just stuck there. Read up on it some more and it said that it should only take about 5-7 minutes for the first boot. I don't know what to do from here. Is there any way to still boot CM10 on my device since it seems essentially stuck at the "CM" boot screen? If not, what ROM would take me back to where I initially started off previous to trying to flash CM10 (like sense essentially)?
Once again, sorry for the noob-ism but kinda stuck here. Thanks!
I would try going into recovery and wipe Dalvik, Cache and then factory reset, do not wipe system just the 2 I mentioned and reboot, if it stays on boot anim, go to bootloader and fastboot kernel and reboot
If you have SDK or adb tools then open terminal and navigate to the folder, open cm10 zip and extract the boot image and place it in that directory, with you phone in fastboot, type fastboot devices to ensure you are connected and type fastboot flash boot boot.img it will state write time and ok, then try reboot again
hold down the power button until the phone shuts off, when it does, hold power and volume down to get to boot loader, press volume down to recovery and then press power, in recovery wip all and restore nandroid back up,,,hope you made a back up hope this helps
It's probably something corrupt in dalvik or cache, could also be a kernel mismatch but I think it's more likely phone was not properly wiped prior to flashing cmx

no problem just keep in mind that when switching roms, especially different bases (ics sense, aosp ics, aosp jb) wipe the dalvik and cache because they can easily be corrupted

S-on or s-off
You'll have to flash the kernel seperate if your s-on via fasboot or flash image gui

Following this step of the process fixed this same issue for me.
Thanks both (hut thanks button too )
I flashed via flashgui and also via fastboot.
Then flashed the rom.
But still stays in the boot animation.

Hmm...well this time I just went to recovery. Made a backup and erased, cache, dalvik, system. Did a factory reset as well (didn't do that before) and in the end did as you guys suggested. Flashed rom and then boot.img via fastboot. Thank you very much!!! :victory:
Haven't been as active lately because I've been very sick but factory reset would have been my first suggestion. If you are starting a fresh install you should always wipe cache, dalvik, factory reset and then wipe system. I used to refer wipe scripts but for this phone there has been an unusually high number of users who's partitions (mostly internal sd) end up corrupt after using a wipe script. I don't know why, they are generally reliable and in most cases are better as they can wipe areas of the partitions that you miss wiping normally. If you are familiar with reformatting and you can back up internal regularly then you should try a wipe script. It's just a bit more convenient when it does work then manually wiping each partition.
Nothing works!

Okay so I did all of this and still..... doesn't work. I'm not really a phone wiz. I paid someone to root my phone before and I used the CM10 ROM, everything was fine until I tried to change my font, the phone rebooted and got stuck on the CM 10 boot screen. I went to recovery and restored my phone from September. I then went to Flash Image GUI and flashed the boot.img for CM!0. Then went into recovery and flashed CM!0 and gaaps and wiped the cache, delv cache, system and factory reset. When I rebooted I was still stuck on the boot screen. :/ I am able to restore back to September but my camera or wifi doesn't work. Anyone know how to help me?
Try flashing meanrom, it has the kernel installer and doesn't require flash image or fastboot. If you still have any issues with the camera then relock the bootloader and flash ruu. If that doesn't fix the camera then its most likely hardware failure.

Bootloop Battery Issue
I recently flashed paranoid android to my verizon GS3 but after trying to boot I got stuck in a bootloop. It ran all last night but didnt accept a charge, and now won't turn on at all. When the battery is taken out and put back and then plugged back in it comes up with the battery charging symbol briefly but then immediately shuts off again. It wont turn on in download/recovery mode either. What should I do?

i try it but not good
If you can boot the phone but it's laggy, did you install the ramfix? Seems from your English (no offense) that you are an international user so you probably need it.
you can get the flashable zip here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1240310
thanks, i will try it!
update : i download auto ram fix and install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1930645 my device can't boot to os, it can boot in motorola logo only and auto reboot
how did you install the rom if I may ask? did you format/wipe your system/data/cacha/dalvik cache?
else if you have a bootloop problem a possible answer given by upndwn4par is to pull out the battery, press volume down while placing the battery again and navigate to android recovery. Then reflash your rom (i would recommend first formatting the partitions mentioned first), and then flash the ramfix (don't forget this step).
Hi,
My device : Atrix 4G (AT&T)
i install rom with recovery mode (ClockworkMod 5.0.2.0)
i try to install "ThatRom" and ICSROM 1.4
- First i wipe Dalvik Cache in advance menu
- i install fixrom from ext-sdcard
- i install "ThatRom" from ext-sdcard
- Format wipe date/factory
- Reboot
result ICSROM 1.4 : it auto reboot in motorola logo in phase open device
result ThatRom : after boot device have logo motorola, logo fade out have sound and Screen off. + 3-4 min have sound boot and loop
how i can fix it.
This time i use rom CM. 9.0 for atrix but i don't like it because it's not have webtop
thanks
I first did a format cache/data/system in mounts and storage
then in advanced dalvik cache, afterwards installed the rom from ext-sd, flashed ramfix and rebooted.
worked fine for me but remember that it can take some time the first time (seems you know this but nevertheless), so maybe you could try it in that order?
else you can try the method for pulling battery (or do it immediatly, maybe it'll help)
This time i can install "That Rom".
in first boot it's use time to boot around 30 min. and i setup device and reboot.
second time to boot device i can't come in to os i here sound boot and my battery's hot.
So after first i can't boot to os.
how i can fix it's
thanks
update : i try to reinstall thatRom it's can't boot to os
Have you tried AtrICS rom? It's a newer release and has less bugs to my opinion.
You do know that webtop does not work with lapdock in these builds? and that battery life is terrible (if you don't get the screen glitches and random reboots)?
I think for now you could be better of with a GB build since these are not really daily driver compatible and perhaps not yet worth the hassle.
If you really want to, you can try installing AtrICS but hot battery etc etc are part of the rom and wont be solved without kernel sources.
yes, this time i try AtrlCS rom i can't boot too.
sometime i will use 2.3.6 only T_T
I'm pretty new to the whole flashing business, so if whatever I asked does not make sense, please be patient. Thanks!
I am stuck in CWM recovery. No matter how many times i flash a ROM after wipe data/cache partition and dalvik i still boot only into recovery when the ROM asks to reboot the device.
Here's what happened
1. Had a nandroid backup of older version of CWM mostly 5.0.2.x
2. Based on Nottachtrix thread installed the romracer recovery(updated flashable zip)
3. Updated to Nottachtrix 1.3.1 and successfully booted
4. Figured out that contacts everything weren't synced. So wanted to go back to older CM7 rom using restore ROM
5. Something went wrong during restoration. Data and other wern't restored and i guess only boot had been restored
6. Only boots into recovery thereafter. . Installing nottachtrix again give error at end when it asks to reboot the device: error in sdcard xxxzip status 0 installation aborted
Trying out different things like flashing boot.img, recovery etc battery drained and couldn't flash.
Fasbtoot and other options triggered by using volume buttons and power button works fine. RDS also detects the device but bootloader unknown and other info all were unknown.
Since battery drained i was searching on methods to charge the battery. Had figured out that custom method for charging the phone needs to be implemented.
While playing around again with phone i powered it through directly through charger and opted for linux cold-booting which gave me the battery icon with the question mark on screen. Popped in the battery and it started to charge. So now i know i can charge the battery using this method.
I am yet to make progress on flashing ROM successfully again. Is my backup lost ? Did the error happen because i backed up using an older version of CWM or flashing to Nottachtrix changed something
Help appreciated.
EDIT: Even after applying the backup successfully it still gets stuck in recovery.
Anyone?
Managed to.resolve by deleting partition from recovery which gave me the no os detected starting RSD in 5 seconds scenario. Performed clean wipe etc using fastboot n flashed ROM using Tom racers recovery.

i recently rooted my phone and flashed clockwork and was running beastmode kernal on stock rom.everything was working ok i used to get little glitches here and there so i tried to restore my phone back to factory.i entered the recovery mode and wipe date/factory reset and then went on to restore the backup.everything went smooth until i reboot the phone and now the phone is stuck in the droid(eye logo) and wont past that at all and just glitches and freezes on that screen.my friend has tried to fix it but there is no communication between the phone and the computer(usb debugging must have been disabled when i wipe data/factory reset and i basically cant do anything to fix it.is there a way around this to where i can just reset the phone to factory or install a rom or something

Your phone is not bricked. When the phone is stuck on the droid eye, hold the power button and the volume down key at the same time until it reboots. This will get you into bootloader mode. Press the volume down key to highlight recovery and press the power button to enter it. Once you're in recovery go ahead and restore a backup or reflash something new. Either way make sure to do a full wipe.

thats what i did i restored my backup and this is what happens. and i cannot push any files over to the phone because usb debugging is not enabled so there is no communication between the phone and computer at all
boot into recovery then use "adb push <path to rom> /mnt/sdcard/" to put a rom on the sd then install. Make sure you use a boot.img that came with the rom if it has one as it may cause problems if you don't.
Edit: you will need another rom for this and I would recommend reflashing a boot.img

USB debugging has nothing to do with ADB in recovery, recovery basically has its own kernel and ADB is always enabled. Are you saying ADB doesn't work in recovery? If so, it is probably a driver problem with your computer. Also, some phones randomly get corrupt /data/ partitions (mine used to get them until I started using DSB's stock kernel with system write) and the only way to fix it is to do a factory reset or restore a backup. This might be what happened to you. If so just do a factory restore and see if it will boot.
Perhaps reflashing recovery? Worth a try if ur still having problems, also try installing then uninstalling htcs sync app.

Hey guys, I had Android HD Revolution running on my phone, but I hated Sense so I decided to flash CM 10.1 RC4, It was super smooth and good, but battery life was horrible. I then flashed ICJ AOSP to see if it made any difference, same thing. I want to now flash back to a Sense rom (Blade Elite) but I can't seem to get it to flash. I wipe my phone in recovery, wipe partition, wipe dalvik cache, all the usual stuff. Then I enter fastboot, erase cache but then when going to boot the boot.img right after it is done the phone reboots, does a little vibration thing then goes onto a htc screen and just stays there instead of going back to the hboot so I can enter recovery. Then If i hold pwr and vol down to enter recovery and press reboot now it is stuck on boot screen and will not load. The only ROM I can flash is CM10.1 (the only AOSP rom Ive tried) but it doesn't work 100% e.g wifi does not turn on and I can't even flash my nanroid backup of my original rom. HELP GUYS PLEASE?
