I flashed Hybrom recently and everything works great. Almost perfect. But if I try to use SwiftkeyX as my default on-screen keyboard, then the layout of the hardware keyboard changes and the Sym button doesn't work.
Is there any way to use SwiftkeyX as my soft keyboard and prediction engine without affecting the hardware keyboard?

This... mostly works. But it also means I can't use SwiftkeyX's prediction engine when I'm typing on the HW keyboard, which is a shame, because it's really good.
Also apparently this issue occurs with any alternative keyboard, not just SwiftkeyX.

You know, using swiftkey as the default input and slide out the keyboard, the annoying useless blue box got replaced with a white text prediction board. It works the same as the virtual one but of course since we are using physical keyboard, our speed will increase and augmented by the text prediction of swift key, the speed will increase even further.
And by the way, swiftkey prediction can predict your next words very accurately and for me, it is the best text prediction ever. Search the market for swiftkey and try it yourself.
+1 for Swiftkey!
the best text prediction for me too!
*one thing i noticed tho when using the physical keyboard,
there's no way to input other symbols...i've to close the keyboard and use the onscreen keyboard to input symbols and/or smileys...
Yeah, that's the one problem. IF we want to add symbol, we would have to revert back to default input. Shame, no one has develop an apps that completely designed for mini pro (AKA, symbol buttons work)

Anybody have any recommendations on a keyboard to use with Vegacomb? I like the big keys with the stock keyboard but it's not very customisable, i tried Smart keyboard pro but they keys are too small, and if I change the key height, all the letters are then misaligned with the keys.
I guess it's because of the different screen resolution, so does anybody know of any similar keyboards to smart keyboard with bigger keys?

I'm using Smart Keyboard Pro and have no such problems.
And few posts down there is a thread about which keyboards work best with Advent Vega.
And it's not too long either.

sorted it now, updated to newest version and its much more usable, thanks anyway.
I like Thumb Keyboard - lots of styles and sizes to choose from.
I'm a big fan of Swiftkey X for tablets. The default keyboard is nice because of the two shift keys but having to press one key to get to numbers instead of a long press is hard to get used to. Swiftkey has a split keyboard option or a normal keyboard with the split having letters on either side and numbers in the middle plus it learns as you type and has a lot of customisation in themes, key height and width, long press duration.
.... I realise that sounds like a big ad but I promise you I'm as jobless as they come, just a fan of a good and usable keyboard. I have the phone version as well but I'm really liking the new HTC Sense 3.5 swipe enabled keyboard.

Mainly use the half screen keyboard as it means I can hold the tablet with one hand and type with the other without having to reach back/forth across the tablet all the time.
A.I.Type choosing Windows Tablet 8 theme
payware but worth the coin
GO keyboard is really good and I think has the option to increase or decrease keyboard key sizes. Also it has themes!
Hope this helped!

Multiling keyboard is quite handy especially if you need different layouts. Also, the keys are (both vertically and horizontally) sufficiently big.
Hacker's keyboard is just amazing on this device

An alternative to changing the keyboard type is to use the one you like the layout on and change the DPI setting using DPI Changer or similar app. Curiously, the reduction of the DPI setting decreases the size of the icons, but increases the size of the keys on the keyboard (at least on HoneyIce Chimera Updated).
DO NOT try to set DPI settings to anything other than 120 and 160 on VegaICS!
So I recently bought the keyboard for my prime. I love it, but you have to set the IME to the stock android or the asus keyboard for it to work well. Neither of those have a split keyboard so when I take the keyboard dock off and just use the tablet I have to go manually switch IME keyboards to a split keyboard (thumb keyboard).
It would be awesome if someone could make an app for the TP that would set the keyboard depending on if it were docked or not would be awesome.

I too use Thumb Keyboard but it doesn't seem to affect it when I dock my prime. The icon in the tray with the 2 lines, down arrow and wide U shows up when I dock and the keyboard functions normally. When I undock, my last used IME is there (in this case, Thumb Keyboard). I just assumed it auto-switched the IME when you docked it.
What you are looking for exists already App called keyboard manager. Must have app for this thing if you have the dock.

Agreed. It just works.
Cool, thanks, that was what I searched for.
FYI all SwiftKey X tablet version works great with the dock hardware keyboard.
I think every on-screen keyboard will work with the dock as long as you are using a stalwart englisg QWERTY layout. The problems begin when you are using a qwertz layout with spezial letters like ä, ü, ö and ß and a non standart on-screen keyboard like thumb keyboard or swift keyand connect your dock.
the problem with most non-asus keyboards is not the 'normal' keys. Most will work using the dock. The problem starts when you want to use other keys like shift, alt en capslock. That's why some sort of automatic switching needs to be done when the dock is connected or disconnected. I've found an app for the original transformer that does exactly this but it doesn't seem to work so well for the transformer prime.
hi, I'm looking for suggestions about keyboards app to install in the phone, you know that we have our physical qwerty and well, I want a light keyboard that support physical key prediction, language dictionaries, and that allow the use of the sym key?, so any suggestion? thanks
Just use the standard android keyboard.
Or use swiftkey. (But it take's a lot of your RAM memory)

Hello!
I've installed CM 9.0.0 on my Mini Pro and I have a problem with the physical keyboard. When it is open, there are no word suggestions (even if i activate them in the settings) and there is no blue key lock icon in the statusbar. How can I install the stock keyboard on this rom? Previously used the Real ICS r2 rom and the keyboard was working correctly with word suggestions and icon on statusbar.
Thanks in advance!

As long as I remember, the suggestions doesn't appear when you are using the physical keyboard (well I'm not really sure about this). Anyway, you could use other keyboard like swiftkey, I'm using it already and suggestions appear even with physical keyboard.
Also, currently there is no way to get the key lock icon, though the key it's working normally. The same for the shift key and sym key.
All these features are present with the stock keyboard only. As far as I know there is no ported stock keyboard which is working with CM9.
