Root method most likely
roms won't work at all

The root method may be slightly different. I am trying to get a system dump but it may be Monday. Our wedding reception is this Saturday so time is lacking this week

Monkeys just flew out of my butt...
interesting that the article states, " Photon Q will be the first device to have support for the unlock tool."
I was under the impression that the Photon Q was being shipped unlocked out of the box based on what tsdeaton said.

Everything I read said it would be unlockable, not unlocked out of the box.

On android central they said that (this is about other phones) "moto says that they have to evaluate that on a phone by phone basis, and that they have worked with Sprint to come up with a solution that's favorable to everyone involved." And no it's not unlocked out of the box.

Too much beggin and problems with this phone that is why I am considering going with a Samsung phone.
BY the time ICS (way later sometime this year) gets official and with a locked bootloader what is the point anymore?

Unless you're already stuck with a locked bootloader on 2.3.5, than when official ICS drops for our device, I guarantee that users will be able to flash the official update with a modified unlocked bootloader!
Also, when official ICS does come out, that'll cure ALL out current minor issues with custom ROMs! To be really honest with you tho, the custom Jelly Bean ROMs we have out now in the development section are a TON more stable and usable than the ICS ROMs that we had previously!

Just wondering if the Thunderbolt had to be activated before rooting or not.
Anyone know?
I plan on rooting one for my mother in law but she hasn't activated it yet for service.

Mine was rooted when I activated it. I ended up unrooting because there were problems with my activation unrelated to being rooted. Just makes sure you're on the latest firmware first.

No problem. The reason you should stick with the stock ruu is because if they need software info it will match. I doubt they will hut you never know.

Yea. I remember on the Eris it wasn't possible to activate on anything but a stock rom. On this I'm not to sure so I would go with a sense 2.1 for sure.

I can say if you have verizon you might wanna wait on rooting even if you root but have a stock rom because i sat in their store over an hour and a half one day setting up a new sim card with a samsung stratosphere i rooted and it had the tweaked rom and stock rom and had to unroot cuz their computer couldnt connect to device right and finally after 8 new simcards i just unrooted used my backup of original factory firmware i took before flashing customized stock rom.... I know im a lil late on this but my advice is root it after its been activated...save yourself hassle and embarrassment knowing they are not supposed to help you when your device is rooted...

This is the reason I never go in the store. I've never had a problem activating a rooted phone. That is why I always suggest going back to a stock firmware though because cm roms and other aosp roms have trouble activating most of the time.

Hello everyone I'm coming from HTC one S. I still have the phone but I joined up with Verizon left T-Mobile. Couldn't stand the bad to no reception I had at my job. I was pretty hesitant to get this phone because I know it's been about for about 6 months and there's probably another phone around the corner but I really couldn't wait with the bad service so here I am. I really like the phone so far haven't rooted yet and planned to wait awhile but there's no button remap on stock heard it was removed do guess I'll be rooting soon!

And as far as the 2 dev forums.

Like they said man, their are tons of thread asking the same thing...
But to answer your question, every international Rom will work on our model, however you will loose wifi calling (it's tmobile specific and unless you flash a stock Rom you won't have in any other Rom).

Don't do it. There is another thread in this forum where some one lost their, hspa data.
It's generally better to wait until ruins stabilize brie you start flashing unless you are masochistic.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Yah you need to do some reading.
That said, Android Revolution and TrickDroid work great for TMo and have all the TMo stuff including wifi calling included. There probably are others, but these two are by far the most popular. I personally run TrickDroid.

Has anyone tried motochopper? At first glance, I don't see why it wouldn't work. This build is stunningly similar to the At&t Galaxy S 4 and we've successfully rooted those with motochopper.

The business part is not a script, but a binary. You will need a hex editor. I tried but there are a lot of numbers in there that apparently specify the exact version the exploit will work on and it was too complicated.

Ya I tried that days ago the method just keeps giving you permission denied,I've tried every method available even the clockwork and root methods for the 19152 and motochopper, plus almost everything found on internet.I think its just the device isn't as popular than most galaxy lines.I understand the locked bootloader situation, but I know the note 3 will probably be in the same boat.I think the note 3 will be rooted before the1527,its just going to be more popular with more dev support and devs working on the note 3
Do you guys think they will stay with the 5.5 inch screen with the note 3?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I527 using xda app-developers app
The note 3 supposed to be coming with a 5.68.to 5.7 inch screen which in my eyes is a big dissapointment.I was hoping for at least 6 inch screen size or 6.3 like the mega.It would be nice if they came out with the same situation as the mega one phone at 5.8 another at 6.3 inch screen.I heard they finally ditched the 16 gb internal memory to stock 32gb internal. Ill probally still going to buy it anyways, still undecided what to do with this mega, keep it or return it,love the phone hate having no root,I got 5 days left before my 14 days are up
Im in the same boat I'll hold on to the mega till they announce the note 3 then I'll make my call. I have a little more than a week left on my return.
