Hi guys,
Couldn't find this question, maybe it's asked already:
I got a External SD-card (8 GB, class 10) that, as far as I can see, when mounted, also shows that amount of storage on my internal SD (as misc).
when not mounted, misc is 1,58Gb
When mounted 5.47 Gb.

Is this memorygrouping or something?
Can it be disabled? why is it?
free memoryand total memory stays the same or what?
S2 is rooted with westcrip'
s ICS REMIX v8.6.
have you mounted the sd card properly? if not, then files copyed to "external sd" just goes to a folder named "/sdcard/external_sd" in the internal storage. (you can try that, copying files to that folder without inserting the sd card.
i haven't got an sd card so can't tell exactly, just guessing.

have mounted properly, copying files to ext-SD which is not mounted won't work...

Hi, I am new to the Droid. Came from a BB 9700. I am curious as to the difference between the 3 storage options I now have with my Droid.
1. Device
2. USB
3. SD
I basically understand 1 and 3...What the heck is 2? I have stuff there, and I don't know how or what...
Now to the actual question I have. What folders/files do I leave on my Device and what can I put on my SD card? Basically, right now, I put Music, Pictures, Ringtones and Documents on my SD card. I have a ton of other stuff on the Device and was just wondering what, if any I can move and/or delete?
I'm attaching a pic of my device folder for reference. By the way, it says I have a folder that says "External SD" but there is nothing in it...

external_sd is where your SD card gets mounted. USB is the GS2 built in storage. As for where you put stuff, that's mostly up to you.

Roger That...I didn't know what was safe to move and what wasn't.. Like do apps use that stuff and if its on the SD card, will it find it?..
Not really sure about that, as i've never needed it. Internal storage seems much faster even than my class 10 sd card anyway, so i just use external for stuff like music, images, etc... basically storage.
Roger That!
Thanks!
Yo,
I have a 32gb microsd card, and obviously the internal card which only really shows up as 10.9gb. Now when I access my device through airdroid its saying there are 2 internal, the 10.8 and an 11gb. But I can only ever seem to locate one internal.
I want to totally erase my internal card and do a spanking fresh install of a new rom. how do i erase both cards? And are there actually 2 cards in there?

do you have any addition SDcard in there? normally it is like:
internal SD = internal phone memory
external SD = add-on SD card that you put in (the slot for the external SD is near the SIM card slot, battery etc.)
It's a problem from airdroid, the same thing happens to me.
cool makes sense!
another thing,is it safe to totally format the internal card after a new ROM is installed?

if you are talking about the internal SD card as mentioned by me above, you should not format after installing the ROM, either before .
Normally for installing a ROM you do a factory reset, then flash the new ROM. If you really want to start clean, you can use 'mega wipe' (search for it in the forums here), it will completely format system & internal SD card, hence be prepared to have a flashable ROM on your external SD card.
Hey! Is there any way to set the default storage to my external SD card? I have my ext SD set to default storage location in the Camera app, so all my captured images and videos are saved on my ext SD; However, if I save an image from Chrome/Kik/Messenger/ect, it saves it on the internal SD. I recently got a new 32GB Ultra Sandisk card and would like all my apps to save all the images/downloads to my ext SD rather than my internal one, like the Camera application. Thanks in advanced.
You either need to modify the kernel to switch them, or use a script the unmounts the internal and external, then remounts them under the opposite locations.

If I did it right, my Kernel and ROM information is above. Since I am not having any other problems except this one, it would probably be best to use a script instead of a new Kernel, right? I can't find anything on Google except for complete Internal & External SD swaps, which is not what I'm looking for. Could I use TWRP to mount and remount the locations? If so, how?
You can use the swap script or I installed a new Rom (jellybean 14) which uses your external memory as internal memory. When you plug ur phone into your computer the storage location will look swapped.

Hello
My Dad gave me his 32 GB SD Card, so I inserted it into my phone.
And there was some of his files, so I had to format it. I went onto the storage settings and scrolled down to find "Erase SD Card"
So I simply pressed it, and confirmed..
So much regrets. It erased my god damn USB Storage filled with 11GB of files, even important ones with all my music, rooting files such as ROMS, downloads, images etc.
Sorry, but I am so ****ing pissed.
The ****ing thing said "Erase SD Card". NOT "ERASE USB STORAGE OR INTERNAL STORAGE".
Here's some screenshots:
So there's my actual internal storage...

}
And my USB Storage that is listed as Internal Storage...
And the Erase SD Card option, above the SD CARD.
I don't understand why the option says "Erase SD Card", instead of either ERASE INTERNAL STORAGE, or ERASE USB STORAGE.
It doesn't make any sense.
Now that I'm left with basically a new phone with nothing of my personal files left.
And why the hell doesn't my SD CARD not have a Erase SD Card option?
I know I can't get my files back, but at least, how do I fix this god damn problem?
My phone is rooted with Cyanogen Mod 10.1.3-i9100
Kernel is 3.12.06-rc6-Dorimanx-V9.43-JB-SGII-PWR-CORE
And yes, I can go into clockwork recovery mode.
thanks
Hi,
I'am new to the forum and I came here to help other people, so they can help me either.
I have Alcatel One Touch XPOP 5035X with CWM recovery and custom ROM Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and Windows 7 64 bit. My problem is when I try to transfer files using MTP, on Windows it sas that failed to install driver "MTP USB Device". I tried all found solutions here and out. I can transfer files using Mass Storage but it's really slow.
Please help me....
Thank you
Oh, btw, my Internal Storage is replaced as SD Card, and my SD Card is replaced as PhoneStorage.

Update : It seems that Gallery app and Music app only loads picture/audio files on SD Card. If I delete them from SD Card, they are still showing those files, but when I try to open them, it shows that file couldn't be located. I tried copying files to Internal Storage and still won't open them, like they don't exist. Same thing for notification sound and ringtone, if they are not on SD Card, they won't play. If I unplugg SD Card, everything works perfect and Internal Storage is PhoneStorage at storage settings. I also notice using RootExplorer that SD Card is named "storage0" and Internal Storage "storage1". I downloaded ROM from here : https://youtu.be/3YC72-tgcxk
