Hi all. I come from different forum, LG O2X.
In a day or two, my girlfriend will get an x10. I assume that latest stock rom will be on it. My questions are:
How good are stock things on this phone? Do you recommend some custom rom/kernel? Which one customs are the most stable&battery friendly? Bear in mind that she will not be doing this custom stuffs and I will not be able to update customs regularly, so stability (with battery) is important. But, if there is some good kernel who will give some juice, why not go for it... .
Thank you all for advices.

But my order of preference of kernel is ThJap, Doomkernel, others.
Rom preference is FeraLab, Thgo2, TEAM, Erick, Donut hd, Wolfbreak, others (i hate MIUI)!
YES DEFINITELY CUSTOM STUFFS ARE WAY BETTER THAN STOCK

Thanks for reply. As I stated, I will not have device long in my hands to test few of customs, so was hoping to hear recommendations.
I will try to put on FeraLab and Doomkernel then. Or is it enough to use only custom kernel (Doom`s in this case) and stock rom? (in case of my O2X device I am quite happy with stock rom+custom kernel) Main problem is that I will not have device long enough to test various combination.
More suggestions and advices are always welcomed .
Thgo2 v14 with his kernel. Just flashed it a few hours ago but it seems to be working great.

Ive just started "altering" my phone, and I'll tell you a few things.......
try to get all the files before you start as a lot of the links are dead
bookmark all the guides youll need for quick reference
start off doing the stuff in a logical order,as youll need to keep going back again
back up your stuff beforehand
make 10 posts on here,so you can then post in the developers thread:if you have problems
Galaxy rom-seems the best one Ive tried, but hate that swype keyboard.Once it was set up I couldnt make any calls-the contact was greyed out.
Thgov14 rom-this looked very good, but battery drain was horrendous, estimate dead after 15 hrs on standby only.
So the upshot is that youll need a fair bit of time,as Ive had to use SEPCC about 5 times, backup and restore several times, hunt for info since no-one helped me.
I personally wouldnt bother pal!
tbh... keep it stock... or use wolfbreak as that is tweaked stock
enjoy stock...there are lots of cool features on stock.
if you wait a week, you'll get achotjan rom which is stock running on cm7 sources. (much like a sexy lexus running on a tough German engine)

Use wolfbreaks 2.3.3 Rom and flashed it with doomlord kernel (locked bootloader).. It works fine and very fast

hey all been a big fan of these forums for a while, and just got myself a wee bargain, an Xperia x10 (NOT MINI) big touchscreen phone boxed and unlocked for £90 off a mate. well the android rom on it stinks. its so slow and i just generally dont like it.
Ive been reading up on which is the best rom for this phone, and ive found that the 2 best are kX10 Custom 2.1 SE ROM – R2B001 (found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913610) and tripNmiUI Iris 1.7 froyo (found at http://android.modaco.com/topic/340637-rom-18-06-tripnmiui-iris-17-froyo-on-the-road-to-revolution/)
basically, i want a fast responsive rom that looks clean and nice, and is 100% fully functional.
thanks in advance guys, or if theres any better roms let me know.
squarehead94
You missed one: Wolfbreak's TW Gingerbread ROM, which right now is the most stable and provides the longest battery life. Of course, some users may claim otherwise, but the majority will probably agree with me.
Good luck with your X10 ;-)
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
oh, cool!
so out of the 3 then what would you say is the fastest, best battery life and the best for angry birds?
its just i heard that iris one is amazing, fast fully functioning and a great rom.
also, how would i go about installing one of these roms safely? do you have any links to installation guides for said 3 roms?
thanks for the reply.
squarehead94
Well, as I said, the best one FOR ME is Wolf's GB rom. It is 100% stable, gives very good battery life, and as for Angry Birds, that's sort of a funny question. You can play it flawlessly even on stock rom, unless the FPS is capped at 15 or something :-D . For the links, I can't provide them right now, but you can just go to Xperia X10 sub-forum, then to X10 Android development, then you will surely find all three threads easily with all the instructions and required downloads.

hey again, im currently running android 1.6 baseband 1.0.14 x10i. how would i go about installing the wolf rom? i dont know whether to update to 2.3 then do it or what cheers!
Hmm.. 2.3 should be out in most parts of the world, so just plug your X10 into your PC and install SE PC Companion. Then search for updates for your device, and it will be done automatically.

Go to youtube and search for - Xperia X10: Flashing Wolf's Tweaked v2.3 Gingerbread Firmware.
This video explains everything you want to know .
Tried many roms till now, gingerbread (TripNMiUI - MIUI 1.8.26,FeraLab, Achotjan, Oodie etc) , ics (cm9 Free Xperia Proyect, donut), For me the best experiencie was TripNMiUI - MIUI 1.8.26 but it is a shame that Trip stop developing on x10 so the rom its a kind old.

I had put a secret 'tripnballs' message in there . Removed so I don't get crap from more people.
and @jingjonas, calling someone 'tripnballs', doesn't really constitute a reply if someone murdered your mom . He was very rude to me (still is actually), so I have no respect for him .
But anyway, I removed it because it was immature on my part.
And it's quite rude calling people brainless...if I didn't have a brain, how could I have made that post?

Hi everyone ;
I'm a noob and as i searched the net up and down i couldn't decide what is the best rom at the moment ?
currently i have the stock 2.3.3 rom and i rooted it and installed xrecovery and did the uncap frame-rate thing and the thing witch enables the bravia engine .
and i'm impressed . i searched for the best rom and i did get all the muiu and cyanogenmod and ... roms . i dont know witch one and witch version is the best , smoothest and bug-free-est of them ? can you please help me with this decision ?
i'm not gonna change my phones rom every day i want to use it for like forever so i want the best
thanks again
An answer for this question will always be subjective. And you can get many contradictory advices.
Here is my personal opinion. The best ROM presently is ThGo2, version 10

Sometimes the Best is an enemy of Good. In other words, new - it is not always better. For me (as has truly noted milton.bain) v 10 is better for energy consumption and speed of the interface.
well, i just installed the new oodie prime x with MIUI 2.1.20 and its just amazing, very fast, smooth like butter, huge ram, etc etc, i cannot post links, but you cand find it in x10 development section, by the way, its highly recommended to unlock bootloader in order to install the custom kernel and enjoy full capabilities of each rom, it took me 10 minutes,

so again what is better ? Primex or ThGo2 ?
is there any comparison between roms ? what does the unlock bootloader do? what should i do after unlocking the bootloader ?
thanks again and sorry for my poor english ..

hands down, one of the best roms are DonutHD, ThGo and Wolfbreak's.
Donut is a good Rom but it only has a few tweaks for Donut, wolfbreak has tweaks for itself and so does thjaps.
Feralabs Rom is where all tweaks and modifications have been put together to make the best Rom
I've gone through almost every rom and this one is the best for me, because on some occasions I play HD games and browse so this I use feralabs Rom.

Hi, for Feralab V20, 2 versions are available:
1) for LB (Locked bootloader esp those who are newbie and don't want to void their warranty)Everything is set if your phone is rooted Official 2.3.3Gingerbread, just flash the ROM via recovery. And Done, Enjoy
2)for UL (Unlocked Bootloader for intermediate and daring experienced flasher)Need more steps like unlocking bootloader, flashing kernels, wifi fixes)

Seriously, which part is confusion?
For feralab v20:
Installation:
- Download Rom, Kernel and if you want Customization pack from HERE
***
UB For Unlocked bootloaders
LB For Locked bootloaders
Customization pack for both bootloaders
p.s.
Kernel for LB will be integrated with rom.
Kernel for UB have to be flashed through Flashtool and includes .71 Baseband
Kernels works fully only on v20 Rom..
if you want to use different kernel - don't forget to flash wifi modules)
***
- Format SYSTEM, CACHE, SD-EXT (If you have partition on SDcard (do it from CWM recovery))(and Format DATA if you want to clear your data)
- Mount SYSTEM, CACHE, DATA
- Install ROM
- After it boots first time, wait 2 min. and reboot
- After you configured ROM Wipe Cache and Dalvik-cache
- UB version users..flash this fix in xRecovery
The steps are so simple. This sentence "Customization pack for both bootloaders
" means that the customization pack is suitable for 1) locked bootloader x10 and 2) unlocked bootloader x10. That's why you would only see one download link for the customization pack.
Since you claimed that you are newbie, I recommend you to ignore the customization pack.
Just install the v20 rom, the rom itself is good enough. The customization pack is for advance player ( take it this way).

Oh right? Mediafire one right? Don't worry, if it doesn't say for Unlocked or Locked, Means compatible to both bootloaders. About its function, i'm not sure, probably helps in Installation/Customization Wizard thing. You may send PM FeraVolt for more clear answer and recommendation since you're still new and unlocked recently.Hope helps.
sincerely,
whitefang

If for Wifi, flash FeraKernel Will solved. but if other than Ferakernel,
Feravolt said in Guide, "For UL BL users who are on Kernel Other than Fera’s install wifi modules for stock now"
Here Ferakernel (recommended for UL FeraLab v20)

Original Non-Overclock value for x10i is 998MHz (~1GHz). If you see the value is higher than that, Yes it's overclocked. You can check by using apps like SetCPU or ROMToolbox to observe Kernel's overclock Value. And also set governor to optimize your performance/enhancing battery lifespan. All the Best
