Hi I have S-On and also have hboot 1.50 ... I want S-Off and hboot 1.40 Please help ASAP! I hate having to flash roms from a computer via fastboot sending recovery... Please help!
You can't downgrade once you are 1.50. Flashing isn't bad. You only need to fastboot boot recovery.img if you are changing kernels, and even then there's an app called flash image gui where you can flash the kernel, reboot into recovery and then flash the rom.

You just gonna have to wait for the devs to finish working on the downgrade or to get s-off on 1.5 hboot like me. Been waiting for a long time now.

Well I hear people with s-off 1.5 and I want that so I can downligrade to 1.4 yes it works I've looked.... But I need s-off
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
the people that have s-off and hboot 1.5 already were s-off on 1.4 and then upgraded. updating from 1.4 to 1.5 does not re-lock your NAND
Speaking of which, is there any improvements to be gained by upgrading the HBoot?

for real tho, bro, sorry for being sarcastic but not a whole lot we can do to help you here. you should know there is no way as of now to downgrade your hboot or s-off your existing s-on 1.5....
have you not heard of flash image gui? I don't use it as its easier for me to just flash with adb. but definitely grab it from the market.

I agree on that one once you have Hboot 1.5 your stuck with S-ON and HTC dev root method.. No way to downgrade .........................................................
Not a big deal tho if you have a computer and ADB
Tho without a computer I don't know how far you will get with rooting....
I have hboot 1.5 S-ON no issues ADB works fine for me fastboot boot recovery.img

i appear to have one of these. wonder what i should do to so i can go back to 1.4 so i can get revolutionary.
i am currently unlocked thru htcdev 1.5 and s-off. any ideas to point me in the right direction?
Related
Ive downgraded my hboot to 1.4 from 1.5 on s-0ff so i didnt have to do the htcdev techinqiue but revolutionary is failing while trying to zerg root im guessing becuase of my software now do i really need to root or can i just install su and such
if you dont mind me asking... how did you achieve this downgrade??
wtf........
Hboot 1.5 with s-off he said so he would just have to flash a 1.4 hboot.

i had rooted it before but i left it at home while i was working for the wife to use and the software got messed up so she took it to sprint and they flashed the software and updated it to hboot 1.5 but still had s-off but now the revolutionary root isnt working
If your 1.4 s-off I'm guessing just flash a recovery and a rim and you should be good. Don't forget to back up. And this really belongs in Q&A

I meant ROM. Sorry damn autocorrect. Go ahead and take a look at some of the other roms in this section each one gives a pretty good idea how to flash a ROM. Check out the stickies in this and the general EVO 3d too. They get into more detail about flashing.

revolutionary is what gets you s-off. you already have s-off. Put a recovery.img of your choice in your fastboot folder (make sure it's named recovery.img) and open a command prompt window, navigate to the folder with fastboot in it, and type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then install a custom rom of your choice and you'll have root

Another con is you can't update your firmware unless you relock and take the OTA or hope a recovery flashable zip comes along
So if your hboot was s-off, how is it any different than s-on? You still have to run the RUU to go back to stock then get the OTA right? Or are you talking about some other OTA?

There are Firmware zips available right now for 3.15 that can be flashed in the bootloader but you must be S-OFF to flash them.Just flash and everything is updated except hboot, kernel, and stock recovery.

Ugh - took the OTA on an HTCdev unlocked boot loader and now it seems hboot 2.09 locks down the systems (can't update supersu binary, they locked down /system?). Now on viperboy stock rooted rom...
Hopefully they come out with an s-off technique for 2.09, need to be able to "hide" supersu/root binaries on my device...
Any news on s-off for hboot 2.09?
Hi, I'm am a noob, I got the JB update, then decided to root my phone. I am unlocked and rooted. I would like to turn s-off but my hboot is 2.09.
I am trying to flash mean bean and every time it gets to around 25%, my phone reboots. I am using twrp to try flashing it.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Or what I need to do?
Thanks again.
Hey I'm 3.16 S-ON and am trying to return to stock so I can send my phone back to Sprint. When I try to flash the 3.16 Stock ROM it reboots and gets stuck on the HTC splash screen. I am on TWRP 2.4.1.0 and currently on Viper 3.1.0. Any help would be much appreciated.
