some apps on the market do request permissions that are not necessary (for examples some game requesting permission of sending text message). well, it still depends on you, if you doesn't feel like comfortable, just uninstall it. Also I remember there is an app that can modify the permission for each app, forget the name though, do a search and see if you can find it.

Why are the following needed for Sirius XM ESPECIALLY the phone dialer?
Is this safe?
This application has access to the following:
Services that cost you money
directly call phone numbers
Allows the application to call phone numbers without your intervention. Malicious applications may cause unexpected calls on your phone bill. Note that this does not allow the application to call emergency numbers.
Your location
coarse (network-based) location
Access coarse location sources such as the cellular network database to determine an approximate device location, where available. Malicious applications can use this to determine approximately where you are.
fine (GPS) location
Access fine location sources such as the Global Positioning System on the device, where available. Malicious applications can use this to determine where you are, and may consume additional battery power.
Network communication
full Internet access
Allows an application to create network sockets.
Phone calls
read phone state and identity
Allows the application to access the phone features of the device. An application with this permission can determine the phone number and serial number of this phone, whether a call is active, the number that call is connected to and the like.
Show all
Network communication
view network state
Allows an application to view the state of all networks

GPS: Make sure you are in the USA (content isn't licensed outside the USA?)
Internet/sockets to stream the media to you
Phone state (Stop playing media when you get a phone call)
I have no clue why it would want to call numbers, maybe you can share what you are listening to via text thats why it wants to send texts?
view network states, so it knows if its connecting via wifi or 3G to varry the quality of the stream?
Goodness knows, it would be nice if devs would tell us why it needs each permission.
I have nexus s with stock android 4.0. when i make a call, i always get a popup where i have to choose mobil or internet calling. se picture below. how can i remove this ??
set it to default .....
what and where can i set to default ?
IF you can select a default action it will be in settings (don't know exactly where) but if this bother you try deleting the internet calling service? This can simply be removed from the settings menu.
hope this helps a bit.
I'm not sure if that popup was asking you to choose a particular internet calling account or if it was asking if you want to dial over the phone network/with internet dialing. I'll try to explain both though...
The default way to call should be under the settings for the phone app, under the Internet Calling section (near the bottom). There you can control whether the phone asks you if you want to do internet dialing or not.
As for making it automatically choose a certain Internet Dialing account, see if checking Set As Primary Account under the Internet Calling/Account part of the Phone Settings does anything to improve things.
If it doesn't work to your liking, I strongly recommend abandoning the built in SIP support and using cSipSimple. With cSipSimple, you can set filters that trigger when a dialed number matches a certain pattern. For example, you could have Internet Dialing with Sip-Provider-1 kick in automatically if you dial a number with a long distance area code.
If you decide to go this route and need a hand, let me know.

YESSSS!! its gone. thanks for all your help and tips
What If?
You reach your office and realise
you have forgotten your phone at
your home. Need to urgently call a
client whose phone number you
don’t remember?
or
You are in a movie hall/office/
classroom and have misplaced my
phone somewhere nearby. Can’t
find it by even by calling on my
number as my phone is on silent
mode?
or
Not having your mobile with you
makes you paranoid. Scared of
missing important calls and sms’s?
Don't worry here's the solution,
Having Agastya installed on your
phone magically allows you to
access your mobile remotely. You
can access & retrieve a lot of data
from your mobile phone even if
you don’t have it with you.
The data which could be fetched
includes
1) Contacts (Fetching contact
number from your Address book)
2) Call Logs (Checking Missed Calls/
Received Calls/Dialed Numbers)
3) IMEI Number
4) Phone Profile (Changing profile
mode to Ringer or Silent)
5) SIM Number (Retriving SIM
Number)
6) SMS logs (Checking SMS's
received on your phone)

Cool App!!
Very useful app, thanks
I am a developer with an existing android app. Users have asked for a wifi only mode to avoid roaming charges when traveling. I believe I have set it all up successfully but want to be able to validate that theory..
What I am trying to figure out is if there is an app or other way to trap the data coming out of the app via the cell network (lots of background web service calls). Since I do not own all of the web services, I cannot trap from the server side.
Any ideas? I basically want to turn on a trace like you would do in SQL, and look at what is being transmitted on the phone when wifi is off but cell is on. I don't need the actual packets, just that a call was made to one of my https services. If a call is made in wifi only mode, then I know I didn't get everything.
Thanks.
Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for but give Network Log a look

Hello
I will be travelling to another country, however I wish to keep my (home country) current mobile connection (number) active since a lot of local (banking etc ) services and sms alert notifications are received on my home country mobile number.
I plan to keep my mobile switched on and hooked to the charger to let it run :
Hence I am looking for an Android App to :
1. Monitor the incoming calls and selectively based on rules either decide to offer a IVR recording to leave the message (recorded on the SD card in wav or amr format) OR forward the call to another predefined number (presumably my cell number in the visited country). The caller wont have to pay the charges for international calling, since the outgoing call from the cell is originated and the caller and receiver are connected as if being on a conference call.
2. Similarly monitor the incoming SMS and based on rules either store locally or forward to predefined international number.
3. For point number 1, an option to upload the recorded voice messages to an online service like google drive or dropbox, with the filename containing the caller number/name and date/time of the call, and delete from the phone after a successful upload. This way I can retrieve the voice messages via internet instead of using the mobile operator voice recording service.
Back in the days on my Nokia N95 there used to be an excellent symbian application which was able to do most as described above and more, I am looking for a similar type pf application on android.
I have seen that an app exist https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.blacklist&hl=en but it is more focused on the security and blocking aspect .
I am looking for an app which let you run a mini PABX on the mobile to offer similar functionality.
Does anything like this exists...Need your guidance and suggestion to find the correct app.
P.S :
The company making the symbian app, is maybe out of business but you can read about this excellent app (Interactive Voice Call Master) over here http://my-symbian.com/s60v3/software/applications.php?faq=1&fldAuto=156
Thanks.
