Have you tried holding power and N for 30 secs then trying to power on ??
If its not battery dead you might have to factory rest
I have done that...still dead...
Sorry 'bout previous response, not up to speed on forum posting... I have left pluggedin overnight...no difference...
I will try the power n sequence suggestion and let y'all know what happened...
Thanks all for the help, appreciate your time and effort!
Waiting five minutes...before I can post this...

If that does not work then boot into CWM using the sdcard method and start from there. There are CWM backups and to restore 1.4.0 already rooted and with apps. Read my FAQ in the CWM issues section. Link in my signature.

OK, tried the power N, no success... Just want to be clear, the nook is completely dead. no screen life whatsoever... the power indicator on the power cord connection is green but when I try and power up nothing...absolutely black screen, no flicker nada, zero signs of life...will trying a sdcard solution help in that situation?
Thanks again for you time!!
Is your SD card still in? Have you tried taking it out of the nook and holding power for 3 seconds?
Edit: I realized that response seemed very odd. So, with or without the SD card in you should still be able to boot past the black N screen and get to the initial boot animation. I would suggest rather than just holding the power button for 3 seconds try just holding it and eventually it will, or should, actually boot to the initial screen.

I have the same problem with a nook tablet that I rooted for my brother. When I shut it down, it never powered back up. It is dead as a doornail. Very, very, very frustrating. I tried every key combination to try to get it to power up. Nothing works, Holding N+power for 30 secs didn't work. Holding vol down + power also didn't work. It's just dead. BN won't accept an exchange without a receipt. I can't believe this thing is dead after only a few weeks. I also tried charging it to full to a green light, still didn't work.
I have had a similar problem where the screen will not respond or turn on. Turned out to be the SD card. If I removed it, the tablet would respond right away. I now have a 32G San Disk and so far no problems.
Hi All, just wanted to circle back for an update... No change in situation, but have decided to give it a go with the warranty process, opted for the standard service with no CC info provided...figured with that route I couldn't be charged for the repair...worst case they won't fix it...Its dead to me now anyway.... will let y'all know whatsup when I hear from B&N or get the unit back...
thanks again for the comments and suggestions!
If you think a bootloader sucks, Just try the warranty process...
Just wanted to give an update, it had been over a week since I had sent the unit in; so I decided to give a ring and find out what's up... It seemed like I was the first person to ever do that, took forever to finally get an answer. I was informed that yes they had got it a week ago, but that it would take another week before the warehouse got to it...I should hear something then...
I have a annual BN Member Card, buy books there all the time, but I will never give them another penny of my money.... If only amazon put out something with and SD card slot...
Why is that such a hard spec?
Anyway, just wanted to give an update...
Best,
well hopefully it all works out

I updated the firmware this morning and it looked like it had worked but then there was an explanation point in the notification bar saying there was an update available. I clicked the icon and everything froze. I tried to power off but it froze at the confirmation screen. I held the power button down with the volume down button to reset and it just took me to a page with gears and an orange explanation point. i did the data wipe with the same result. I did the reset button with a paperclip and same result. I downloaded the update onto a micro SD card and did the data wipe and was told by ASUS it would install the update from the SD but still nothing. I cant figure anything out, if anyone has suggestions or any similar problems let me know.

the OTA updates launched me into a perpetual reboot loop. i tried letting the battery drain all the way down but it didn't stop it once I powered back up the next day.
ASUS phone tech's want me to send it in for service, but before I send it I am hoping that someone has another solution I can try.
Hi - I'm using a Galaxy S3 right now and it's not powering on at all. Battery is guaranteed not empty as it has been on charge all morning. It's rooted and running SuperNexus - I9300 - BUILD 4.
I can't even get into download mode - tried powering on with volume keys held up and/or down along with home key and power key but no luck
I've called Samsung and they will take it away for warranty repair but my worry is if they know it's rooted - will they refuse to fix it?
I'm clutching at straws but has anyone got any other suggestions I could try?
I imagine you already tried this, but when it happened to me last, I simply took the battery out for a few and put it back in, then it fired up. Has only happened to me once though.

yeh it's been out for a few minutes. Maybe i should try it for a little while longer.
One thing I forgot to mention is that sometimes I would pick up the phone to look at something and the screen would be blank but the soft keys would be lit up. The only way to get the screen back was to keep the power button pressed down for 10 seconds or so so that it switched off and then back on.
This is what happened this time - but only this time it's refusing to come back on

There's a known issue with some devices having problems with this in here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1993044
But if your device was starting to have problems before... maybe it wasn't related to motherboard but something else, maybe even software related... But still, if the device is not powering at ALL you should be good with samsung, as they will just replace the motherboard and thats all (at least some ppl had it repaired even rooted and with CM installed on the thread I linked above.
Good luck and share your adventure with the SAT (if you finally send it there) on the other post
If your in the eu then rooting your phone won't affect the warranty. It's been confirmed a few times in the thread posted above. It sounds to me like another mother board failure.

Happened to me before. May or may not work for you.
Take out the battery.
Wait 1 minute.
Now turn the phone on, and it will take some time(maybe 3 mins) but it WILL go into recovery mode. Do what you want in recovery and then done.

Looks like he's bricked it quicker than Sole Power covered the last furlong in
So this is probably the 3rd thread I've made for this device.
After returning my first Z2, I got this one a few (maybe 4 to 5) days ago and now I'm having issues with it. First time, the screen froze at my lock screen pattern entry; no response whatsoever but the LED light was blinking as I had a notification. I had to hold volume up + power button to soft reset. In the same day (today) I've just had to reset it again for the second time but this time, the power button would not wake the screen! No matter what I clicked, it would not work so I had to press volume up + power again till it vibrated 3 times and reset. I'll be going back to return the phone tomorrow and getting my third Z2! Anyone else having issues or anyone have any ideas as to why it's/what is happening?
Thanks in advance for any responses
EDIT: Are there any built in logs I can have a look at or anything of that sort to determine what went wrong?

Is your phone bone stock at the moment? (locked BL, no root, stock rom, stock kernel)
I had the issue initially - the phone wouldn't wake up a couple of times a day and I'd have to soft reset. But I was rooted with a custom kernel, etc. and learning to use the tools for Sony phones (coming from Samsung phones). But now it's perfectly stable. In my case, I suspect it was a combination of how I was flashing things, etc.
Otherwise, completely stock, i don't recall the phone freezing. Have you done a complete wipe and repair via SUS or PC Companion?

Hey, yeah the phone is pure stock. I've not messed around with the software nor downloaded anything I shouldn't have. I've not done a complete wipe and repair but I'm thinking about factory resetting. Obviously this is not a hardware issue but I don't want to have to keep resetting my phone twice a day because that is stupid. Hopefully it was a one off and I guess I'm not too bothered but I may go in store tomorrow and just see if they will replace it. Silly reason to do so, I know, but I guess I'm within my rights if the phone isn't working properly. What do you think?

Ah man. In a way I'm glad to see I'm not alone at least! For some reason mine is mostly random but I've kind of noticed it happens after I pull the charger out. Have you tried to go in and exchange it? If it's the camera causing it, it seems easily reproducible.
@shaf46
Hey Shaf, sorry to bother you mate. I just don't understand what is wrong with this phone! My estimated time on with stamina mode is down to 1 day a few hours again. It is a brand new phone I only got it yesterday. Is it the way I am charging it or is it just buggy software? I don't have any apps I don't need and even tap to wake is off. The battery works normally I guess although it is draining a bit fast (5% in 20 minutes while using it) but I don't understand what could be causing this to happen!

It's happened to me once where the phone wouldn't switch on after sleeping, turned on after about 2mins, but only when I received my magnetic charger and started charging with it. Not sure if the magnetic charger is the problem since I only had that problem once and never happened since.
Are you charging it with a magnetic charger?

Did you manage to sort it out? No I'm using the standard charger provided but after charging it last night, the estimation of battery time in stamina mode has come down significantly. The estimation assumes stamina mode is not on but it is turned on in my notification bar. This time yesterday the estimate was at ~5 days.
Well, I maybe should have listened. So I had just flashed a ROM on my 6P, set a few things up, it was charged 98%, I downloaded an app, checked an e-mail, then walked away. Then after 30 minutes I went to the phone to check e-mail, and it was dead. I mean, wouldn't boot in any way complete black screen. Hooked up to computer, nothing. No buttons will boot the device.
So ridiculous....a $500 paper weight. Now I have to find a decent Verizon phone with good development to buy.
Well, had fun for 2 months!
Bye Nexus 6P forums!
OK - I held volume down button and power button for almost 3 minutes and it finally booted. This never happened before. Scary, but if this happens to you take note! :silly:
So my phone is unusable and I have to find a new Verizon phone that has good development. Good luck to me - guess I'll have to sacrifice my unlimited data I've had for many years for a phone with a new carrier so I can root it with good development. I hate Verizon.

Unusable how? You just said it booted.
Is your bootloader unlocked? Can you get into bootloader mode? If so, you could try flashing a factory image.
Don't give up so quickly. Your issues might be related to the ROM or something else you installed.
Jeez... Jump to conclusions much? Can we get more info please?

Thanks guys. I was able to revive it again and flashed a different ROM. It would not boot in any way - plugged into my computer, bootloader mode, nothing. Then it went into a bootloop. Finally I got it to boot and flashed an older ROM after transferring the appropriate vendor image to internal from my computer. I'm nervous it will happen again. I will switch to a new ROM now and hopefully won't see this happen again. Very frustrating evening.

i know this is a old post but do you by any chance remember how you got it to boot again. I am having the same problem and after shutdown i was able to turn it on one time by pressing the power button for 30 sec but now it's dead again and wont turn on after long power button press.

Have you tried volume down and power? Hold it for up to a few minutes...

did that too. But nothing seems to work.It doesn't even get noticed by pc.
Would you recommend a battery swap.
I remember freaking out when that happened to me. My 6P was dead for like 20 minutes. I kept plugging it in, holding power and volume, etc. I got so mad I banged it against something and created a small dent near the power button, which I lived with for the rest of the year until I bought my OP5T.
Hope you were able to fix it. I kept trying and trying to resuscitate it and finally it booted. :good:
