[GSM/CDMA] RAZR Utility ---- OUTDATED. DO NOT USE. - Motorola Droid RAZR

OUTDATED. Do not use this program even if you somehow find a working link. The GSM RAZR Utility will simply brick everyone since its the old Secure Version.

It looks like a handy tool to have so I am downloading it now...
wont be able to check it out until tomorrow.
Thanks for posting it.

Bootstrap allows you to boot into clockworkmod from an app that it installs.

you're welcome! i never had a mac, so i don't if it use shell, i'll try to find something

Can i FIX a locked razr
Can i boot up my razr again if I "brick" looked my device?
And with that I mean, everything is removed and I can just boot in the original recovery/ download-mode without first install Bootstrap Recovery app :S

I just rooted my droid razr and use this tool. Then I install the voodoo root keeper app, and then did the update (settings-about phone-system update) and re-root with voodoo app. Now I’m up to date. It’s awesome

I walked my friend through obtaining S-OFF and Root on his EVO 3D earlier and decided to record it. It is rather long because I went through all of the steps, including installing the Android SDK. I figured I would share this with everyone since it might help someone with the process.

Thank you for posting these. Your instructions were really clear and easy!
One Question: You first instruct to download the Android SDK zip file - what was the purpose of that ? I dont think it was mentioned in the root process after downloading it..
Thanks again.

I advised him to install the Android SDK because I thought that the ClockWorkMod recovery process was going to fail, as it did when I used it. We would have needed the Fastboot command from the SDK to push the TeamWin Recovery.
I updated the original post with a newer video for the TeamWin Recovery Installation instructions. It should make it a bit simpler since it doesn't require any fastboot commands.

I will second that. Don't use rom manager. If you flash the recovery on rom manager you will soft brick your phone and have to sbf in rsd mode.

[Q] Re-root droid x2 after 2.3.4 OTA Update

To make a long story short... I let someone use my phone, they updated it to 2.3.4 . How do I obtain root privileges again? I don't need a step by step explanation. The quick version should get me on my way.
From what it seems I need to flash one of the Leaked SBF's? I just looked on the side of the box and I have S/W version 1.2.148.MB870. Do I need the SBF pertaining that that model?
Not to fear! You can root your OTA update and enjoy the benefits of 2.3.4! Google "Pete's one click root" and follow the instructions. It's VERY easy to do. Good luck.
Also, there are resources in the dev section.

As stated. Petes oneclick root method works fine.
But if u were EVER going to flash an sbf just make sure it is one you get from the X2 development forum ONLY.
If u try to flash an sbf for any other phone model u will be in for some trouble.
Thank you

It was more of a cautionary statement to be careful if doing a search and you end up in the x forum by mistake seeing as they also have a gb sbf it can be dangerous when people just quick glance the forum they are in
I know I've almost made that mistake. Started to download the sbf and was like why doesn't this look right? Lol

What is the best rooting method

I have some issues going on with my phone since rooting. I use matt's utility 1.82 and seems like i have tons of issues with trying roms. Every rom i try has the same issue. Wifi doesnt stay connected and i cant get my cpu speeds to set.
So I have seen in other forums other ways to root your razr. Which root methods does everyone like best and have the best/most success with?
Thanks for the help guys.

So i used EasyRootICS and it seemed to work fine, but i still have the issue where my WiFi wont stay connnected or if i leave the area where my wifi is, it wont connect back up. I have to reboot the phone to connect again. Doesnt matter what ROM i am using, they all do the same thing.

I often noticed that issue, too...
Which ROMs did you test so far?
I used Matt Goff's 1.82 utility no problems
I have tried using Wizzed Bean, Red Tide, and Full Throttle. I am currently running Wizzed Bean and everytime i restart my phone. all my setting reset. i have re installed the rom, wiped cache/delvik still same issues. I might just go back to stock ICS and wait out for Official JB.
Seriously, try Matt's 1.82, Safestrap 3.05, and the CM10 spyder. Running great for me, not going back to the bloat, secret data recording, and delayed updates.

Sorry to take so long to answer-- need to get push notifications for this going or something.
I started with this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927747
But some of the information in that thread is out of date- so make sure you read the latest posts. Also, with Safestrap, I am not sure you have to root your stock install, but I did at the beginning just because I thought I had to before understanding the whole process. Also, Matt's is not the only way to root. So my sequence went something like this:
Rooted with Matt's 1.82 utility:
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...-182-windows-for-verizon-droid-razrmaxx-only/
Again, this is getting out of date. I did not install the Safestrap 2.X from here. Instead, I found the latest Safestrap with instructions here:
http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/how-to-safestrap/
Finally, you can get the latest CM10 spyder builds by Hashcode here:
http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/spyder/cm10
I am currently running the Nov. 1 version, but I see there's a Nov. 10 now. Now to figure out how to upgrade without blowing it all away!
YMMV, HTH, yada yada

[Q]Root for XT910 JB?

I have tried a lot of root tool, but it still doesnt work. So all we have to do is wait for the developers to make a it
Hit the 'thanks' button if it helps
I just updated to EU retail and I'm in the same situation. None root tool worked
For XT910 devices there is currently no way to get root. It is only possible for XT912 devices.
To gain root access during JB update you should have protect root with Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper. That works.

Well. I've updated from nonEFIGSRetail.en.EU to Retail.en.EU using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2194825. Root did not survive this.
Maybe there is some more root user friendly process, but it is not easy to find the correct one.

Damn! Now I can't restore all my apps and data using Titanium Backup. I did try the method from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710871
...and it did say success, but during the process it came up with "system/bin/sh su not found" and TB says it has no root access. It worked when I was on ICS, but now I am on JB 4.1.2 System Version 982.124.14.XT910.Retail.en.AU. Anybody with bright ideas on how to gain root access again would be much appreciated!

Actually, there is a way, but only if you aren't on the JB bootloader. When I wrote my comment, I thought, you just have to flash again (also with JB bootloader). In the meantime, I learned that it seems to be prevented to switch to a lower version.
Sorry for any confusion...

anyone can do it they just need a live cd and its just a case of simple copy n paste in terminal and follow the instructions and they are done. they could even use a usb stick with say ubuntu installed on it.
i did this with a live cd on my laptop to see if it worked and it did, my main pc is ubuntu anyway but a friend was too scared to try it on his laptop with live cd so i did it to show him and he rooted his very quickly
