Rebooted my X2 this morning and now stuck in a force close loop saying the application Launcher (com.koushikdutta.launcher2) has stopped. Ive seen the thread where this was happening on the gtab and sounds identical to my problem. But how to fix this on my X2? please help.
Grab a launcher from a rom and boot into recovery and install it by sticking in an update.zip template

thanks for replying so quick. Im new at this so please excuse the "noobness" but how to get a luancher from a rom and boot into recovery when i cant get out of the force close loop? Also, Ive seen methods talking about using rsdlite and flashing sbf. Think that may help? Thanks again.
Do you happen to have another launcher on the phone by chance? If you do, then maybe wipe data/cache and reboot. To get into recovery just plug your charger in while the phone is off and it'll boot into recovery..If you've selected recovery mode last.

A simple test: Power off & plug the phone into the charger. If it boots into recovery you can wipe cache & dalvik then reboot. It may take care of it.
If you plug it in while off & it boots to the big green battery, you'll probably have to sbf.
Can you get into the stock android recovery? If so, a data wipe through that may work as well.

Plug phone up while fully off and do NOTHING. If it goes to Green Battery, Battery Pull and turn back onholding volume down. When you see FASTBOOT at top of screen, Press volume down until you see Recovery. Press Volume up. When you get to stock recovery. Wipe Cache. Reboot phone. ON the popup select your blur launcher if it shows up.
To fix issue. Go to system/app or data/app and fix your permissions to rw-r-r to that launcher. This will fix your issue.
thanks for your guys help. I am able to get into the phone

Might have been a bad download. Try and get it again.
You have any other info such as what ROM and/or theme you're trying to flash when you get this? What version of eclipse? You're using the Tenfar bsr? Is it everything you try to flash? May be a bad d/l add L2 said, more info, more help.

I am on eclipse 8.1 and it doesn't matter what I try to flash even stuff I have flashed in the past(I had an old copy of alien on my sd card which I have flashed before.) Even reflashing eclipse won't work. Is it looking like I get to learn how to sbf?
Edit: and what is the tenfar bsr?
Tapped on my Eclipse DROID x2
Try uninstalling bsr, reboot, and install the app and recovery.
Edit: Tenfar bsr is the typical system recovery app we all use. Just wanted to be clear.

Ahh it stands for recovery will do. Well I can't install it, it came preinstalled and fails with the stock uninstaller there has to be another way though.

How strange is that its working again I wonder what happened.

After you reinstalled? Who knows man. Glad u got it fixed. You should add "[solved] syntax error when flashin" to the title so others can use it as a reference should they have flashing issues.
Edit: just seen your update to your previous post. Yea, it's a system app. Forgot. You remove those with either tibu or a file explorer w/ root access, i.e. Root Explorer. They're located in /system/app I believe.

Did u have usb debugging turned off?
I always thought it had to be on in order for bsr to work correctly
Glad its up and going for ya again. Would be nice if we knew what fixed it in case others run into the problem
I didn't do anything just started working

I'm currently running Eclipse v1.0. I thought I was running v1.1 but sysinfo shows 1.0 even though I ran the 1.1 patch.
So I was going to go ahead and run the 1.1 patch for the HDMI mirroring.
So I go to my app tray hit system recovery, install recovery, allow SU, click OK once installed, plug into the wall charger, give it a sec, hit recovery mode, wait for my phone to reboot into recovery.....
well it all appears to be working until it goes to reboot, it just doesn't come back on. Just sits there with the power off, I've waited 3 mins for it, but nothing no moto screen no nothing.
I've tried this about 5x now.
I wanted to reinstall recovery, but it must of been cooked in the ROM cause I cannot uninstall it......
I did read through some of the pages on the Eclipse rom but didn't notice anyone with this problem, must be me.
Any ideas?
** EDIT ** hmmmm
Well, I just found out something new.
While my phone was powered completely off from trying to boot into recovery while I was typing this, I went to turn it on, pushed the power button then decided I would put my BH6X back in to fully charge (BH5x in now) so I pulled the battery on the M screen and it continued to boot, with no battery, now im in the system recovery......
So apparently no battery is needed, and for some reason I can install recovery, but cannot reboot into it. But since its installed and I have AC power I can pull battery and force boot it?
weird.....

So you get into recovery by pulling the battery then? I've never read anyone with this issue. With the phone powered off, and you plug in the charger, does it boot to recovery?

Yeah, I can get into recovery by plugging in my phone to wall charger while its off.
I've always just plugged it into a wall charger, went to my system recovery app, clicked install recovery, then clicked recovery mode, waited for it to boot into recovery..... is that not right?....
** EDIT ** Running recovery V2.5.1.8
That's what the instructions in recovery say. Only thing i can think of is to uninstall system recovery and reinstall it. Doubt it will work but worth a shot. This can be done with a file explorer w/ root access, i.e. root explorer or es file explorer. They're located in /system/app
Edit: you can also remove Any system app with titanium backup as well as the file explorers.

I must be using an ancient version if that is the current version. I'm using 1.0.0.3 and it works just fine.
Have any luck?
I haven't looked at recovery for a few days now (love liberty) but the version of cwm you posted about is the only recovery we can use. You have the right tool.

No problem. Turn off the phone. Hold power and volume down at same time until you see writing on top of screen. Volume down until you get to android recovery then hit the up volume. This will bring you to the triangle with android. Hit volume down and up at same time. Now you are in android recovery. Wipe data and cache and reboot. You will be fine from there
used wrong version of rsdlite. flashing now
Hey guys, I continually get this error message upon manually forcing my phone into recovery. I'm on UCLF5 ICS OBJECTION from btw with the latest version of cwm. I would appreciate some help with regard to what exactly it means and how I can fix it.
Also my phone won't shut down properly. The lights on the bottom buttons stay on and I have to manually force it to reboot like I do to get it into recovery. The shortcuts in the rom aren't working for me.

I would put it into download mode and run odin or the Off ics to redo/repack your folders, then put CWM back on....idk
Just putting some ideas in, maybe the guru's will jump in on the thread...
Before nuking it like that... try going to mounts and storage and formatting cache
Although I'm not even sure that error is anything to worry about honestly...but i don't do nandroids personally so Idk for sure.
And Joe....stop quoting the op, please?
Does this error have anything to do with the CWM version being used? Its calling for the external sd card isn't it?
No it's calling on the /cache partition which is in the phone...
But it could be the cwm version, it's looking for a recovery log that it can't open.
I can't do anything with the cache. Its like it doesn't even recognize it. I noticed this when I went to throw another rom on and clear out my caches and it would just freeze. I left it for a half hour once just for the heck of it but it didn't do anything. I had to reboot the phone into recovery again.

What will "fix permissions" do?
I would downgrade cwm, I've been using brawway's touch version since he released his latest, without issue and i think that was in April or may
And fixing permissions, makes the permissions of all apps and .jars be what they should be.
Example: apps in /system/app need rw-r-r permissions, sometimes pasting some of those in will not set them correctly, and if you're doing a bunch at a time is a real pain to go through individually and change them, so that option makes sure everything everywhere matches the permissions needed. So, not applicable in this case.
Well I managed to get another rom on anyway so I don't think its big deal now. I think I might just leave my phone alone now
The collectives 4.04 aocp rom is pretty freaking sweet lol.

Thanks for the explanation.
What is the equivalent of the chkdisk dos command to make the android system rebuild the directory structure? Can you do that through a terminal emulator?
i dunno if there is one other than just reflashing
So basically just flash a new cwm over the one I have now?

Yes
this is the version I've been using for months
If u could get it to boot. And manually set permissions for android.policy.jar that would fix the shutdown issue.

Awesome. Ok, last question. I'm assuming I can just load this onto my phone via Odin like I did my original version of cmw?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Yeah, That or there is also a .zip that can be flashed from your current version of cwm.
If doing it that way after it flashes go to advanced option and reboot recovery, then once in the new one, clear caches and see if that fixes the issue.
Or, just use Odin then boot into recovery and wipe, either way is up to you, but seeing as how it's cwm that's the issue, i might lean towards using Odin myself... Just note that will increase your flash counter iirc, if you care.

Samsung SCHi717 OnlyOne Goldie SMS error
Has anyone else ran into the issue of the stock SMS notifications not going away? When I get a txt message, regardless of how many, it always says I have an unread message. This happened with OnlyOne HYFR and then With Goldie also. Is this a known issue, or is there a way I can just quickly correct this?
Also, I can't find anything that says how to diable the scrolling wallpapers. I wanted static wallpapers for each home/menu screen.
Any advice is appreciated.
