Having problems loading CM7 from CWM. I did a full reset back to stock using this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124391
The phone boots up fine and running stock.
Then pushed CWM4 using Odin
Boot up CWM
I reset everything, then install CM7
It unpackages, then it gets to Checking state of BML/MTD and immediately reboots, and show the CM7 load screen image, then it goes to another CWM screen that says version 5, and does a countdown waiting for SD card for 20 seconds... then it reboots and just repeats that.
Any suggestions?
Well I found the solution. Have to use a class 6+ microSD card.
Well I'm using a class 4 with 4.0.3 ics ROM. Try formatting the sd card and trying again

Yes, first i had flashed the Evil Fascinate Rom. Which was running smoothly and all. I decided to flash the Black Alien Version 4.0 Theme. had several errors and force closing through that. So what i was going to do is go back into recovery and re flash the Evil Fascinate Rom. Well when i try to a factory reset/wipe, it starts formatting everything but when it gets to the Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure, it just sits there? never takes this long. Im not sure if its frozen or what but everytime i go back to the recovery menu, it does this same thing. I mean, i can restart the phone and go back to running in the Evil fascinate rom with the alien theme but thats not what i want. Please someone help. Did i flash something incorrectly or what? lol
I had to put my card in my computer and wipe the files from android_secure before it would work

From what I read, it's a bug for the red CWM. It actually finishes the wipe. You could hold down the +/- volume buttons and power button until it reboots to recovery again.

I can't seem to get CM7 installed. This is the process that I am following:
1. ODIN EB01, let boot, pull battery
2. ODIN CWM 4.0.1.0 (The blue one)
3. Boot into recovery
4. Install CM7 from zip on SD card
Every time I do that, it shuts down, and reboots back into recovery, and says waiting for SD card and does a countdown. Once it goes to 0, it starts over again.
Any ideas?
I decided to jump to CM7 tonight...Installed cwm4 for cm7...wiped data,cache,dalvik...stuck on reboot loop to mount SD card as well.

Make sure you are also using the pit file with eb01...I'm sure you were but just saying....that said, do all the steps you posted exactly but use the 3-30 fix all recovery, make sure you wipe everything and flash cm7..after words you can power button menu to your new blue recovery and flash the glitch kernel if you want or any other kernel, radio, or gapps zip files

I followed the steps Here using the ED05 file, odin'ed the cwm4 for CM7, and then installed CM7.
Every time CM7 boots, it boots into safe mode. At the loading screen it does a long vibrate.
I finally gave up because it refused to mount my sd card in cwm4...couldn't install gapps or any other mtd rom.
Going back to comrom 2.1
I'm using the original 16GB SD card. I cleared it out and even formatted it. I also used the PIT file everytime I Odin'd EB01...

did you try using the 3-30 fix all recovery?
I've gone back and fourth a few times and the 3-30 fix all recovery is the only one that works for me...the cwm4.x.x.x for some reason doesn't like my phone until I'm on a cm7 build.

A few things I'm not clear about before jumping to a CM7.
Do you need to use the EC09 modem for a gingerbread rom?
Does it matter what CWM you use to get from ComRom to CM7? (need to odin the CWM 4 first?)
Thanks

The ec09 radio is not necessary...but I've had the best results with it.
Jt has the 4x.x.x recovery in the cm7 o.p. But that is if you are having trouble getting cm7 to take.
I've used the otb 3.x.x.x, and times infinity's 3x.x.x, with no problem but I know some folks have had issues...I recommend the 3-30 fix all because it supports amend and edify scripting so it seems to work better, for me at least.
Other than that it really is the same way of flash any other rom, wipe everything and flash. its going from cm7/miui/to any other rom because of the different formats...cm7/miui/(mtd)
To go from an mtd build back to a non mtd build you must flash an official verizon build with the atlas 2.2pit file to properly repartition your files.
Also once on cm7...no more three finger boot...power button menu...reboot recovery, or
Terminal emulator..reboot recovery only, it will be the blue 4.x.x.x.
once your on cm7 you only use that recovery to flash kernels and zip files.

I made it to CM7 after I started fresh with the offical ED05 + Pit file. After CM7 was installed, the cwm that came with CM7 refused to mount my sd card.
At one point while in CM7, it told me my sd card was damaged so I wiped it (everything was backed up)
I'm back on ComRom 2.1 and it's working fine.
Forgot my other question: do you need new drivers after cm7, does your computer see it as a new device?
Yes, (correct me if I'm wrong) I think they are the same ones used for the Nexus.

The build is from a nexus s, so you may need the drivers for the nexus, however I have never needed them...my pc still recognizes my phone...I don't think it actually says fascinate like it used to, but I can still move files with no problem and (more importantly) odin still recognizes my phone!
You may even need the samsung generic drivers but either way those aren't hard to find either.
As side note I'm using vista home edition, in case yet matters, a lot of complaints I've heard are from windows 7?!?...hope some of this helps

I used the cwm and CM7 from JT's thread since he has mms working in that build...I had sd card problems in cmw (cannot mount sd card) and in the rom (damaged sd card) itself so idk what the problem is.
sd card works fine on ComRom.

I can get into recovery and download mode, flash stock Rom with Odin and Heimdall to completion but phone never boots up completely. Nothing but boot loops.Goes between Vibrant screen and Galaxy S screen.I'm at my wits ends. I hope some one can suggest something.
What did you come from? CM7 / CM9 ICS?
Did you repartition with Odin?
More info please.
Originally phone had ICS 4.0.4 CM9 ICS and I tried to go back to stock.Big mistake.

I have flashed with Odin to stock 2.1 coming from an ICS rom a few times and never had a problem, so i don't think that's the issue. Maybe try flashing a stock kernel in recovery mode or you can use Odin for that too I believe. I'm still learning this stuff myself but it sounds like it's a kernel or bootloader issue to me. Just to be sure, are you absolutely certain you flashed a Tmobile vibrant package and not something meant for another company/phone? Sorry had to ask

Also coming from ICS to stock you MUST repartition the phone.
Managed to install a T959UVKA7 rom but now I can't mount sd card. It's greyed out and states to insert an SD card for mounting. I can erase sd card but it states sd card has been removed. And when I go Additional storage/mmt/emmc and mount sd card I get damaged sd card.I have 0.00B internal storage and mnt/emmc space is 1.86gb which is my external sd card. Almost looks like internal and external storage are reversed. What's up
I always recommend Odining to stock from CM7 as CM9's DM is, at least for me... non-existent. As for your SD card issue, you may want to Odin to stock again.
I agree. You should try to get to JFD and hit repartition. If you need it, the AIO Toolbox is in my signature to download. It has all JFD pit/tar files, Odin and will get you cleanly back to 2.1. Read toolbox's OP in the dev section for directions.
Did everything you suggested but I just end up in a boot loop. I have tried going back to stock many many times but never get out of the boot loop. That's why I installed CM7 from the external Sd card as it was the only way to get anything on the phone.

Wait you got a boot loop after using ODIN to restore?
Yep Please read original post above. No matter what I do I just get the boot loop thing. How do you just install a kernel through Odin? Haven't done that yet.Not sure how to do it or what kernel to use.

Easiest way to do it in my opinion is through recovery mode. Download a kernel that is compatible with your ROM, go delete cache partition and dalvik cache from the advanced menu then install from sd card just like you would a ROM. The kernel MUST be compatible with whatever ROM you are running. Check out the kernel bible thread for a list of kernels and what ROMS they work with. I personally never used Odin to flash a kernel but I believe the kernel bible tells you how

Recently flashed the liquid ICS JMOD rom and it worked awesomely up until this morning. I guess it started two days ago when my SD card would randomly unmount and i couldnt access my music or anything. usually a trip to 4EXT recovery and a manual mount would fix it but when i went to restart it never came back on. I cant boot into boot loader or regular boot , any suggestions?
Have you tried booting without the SD card?
Sent from my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk 2
yeah no dice i cant get any response from the Power button it doesn't do the vibration no HTC screen nadda!
I forgot to point something out. when i rebooted to recovery it did go in but it wasnt getting a read from the SD so 4 ext booted in safe mode. once in their i hit reboot and thats when it decided to never start again.
Sounds like you have the dreaded broken SD port. Does you SD card read on your PC? If it does then backup the sd card and try reformatting it and put everything back. Then try booting.

Have you tried that yet? I have one that did basicly the same thing. Was restoring a backup cuz it was freezing. Recovery rebooted by itself twice while trying the restore. Finally finished and hit reboot. Stuck on splash screen so I pulled the bbattery. .hasn't booted since, computer can't see it, charging LED doesn't come on, can't get to bootloader. It pretty much died right there in my hands.swapped battery, USB cable and SD card with my other tbolt to check those possibilities.
First part about your sd card. I had this happen to my sd card and one day the card died. I tried to have it read on my computer and it wouldnt read. As for your second issue I have seen on different forums about this happening and so far no one has been able to fix it. Sad to say but your bolt is probably bricked.
I was running Twisted's 4.0.4 build ever since release, all the way up to his 1/13 build(which was plagued with a lot of issues) but I attributed my issues to that build exclusively... as it turns out, it isn't the case at all.
A few days after clean flashing the 1/13 build with 4ext recovery, all partitions properly formatted to ext4 I started experiencing several issues with my bolt. First, occasionally I would plug it in to charge and it would reboot, show the boot SPLASH a couple of times and eventually boot into the OS. Again, I thought it was the build, but then when I tried to boot into recovery I noticed I couldn't. The vol+power didn't work and I couldn't reboot into recovery from the OS. It would just boot loop to splash a couple of times and (sometimes longer than others) boot loop until it booted up. Eventually I tried reflashing recovery, assuming that somehow my recovery partition wasn't working properly. A las, I was able to boot into recovery after recovery reflash, then I loaded the 12/24 build but the same behavior occured. At this point, I assumed I'm going back to stock and I don't care all that much since I was going to be upgrading. I took the .19 Gingerberad OTA PG05IMG.zip and copied it over to my SD card. Which was quite the chore since at this point it was taking longer and longer to actually get to the OS and I had no other means to copy to a microSD card.
Now here I am, I flashed the PG05IMG of the .19 Gingerbread and it still behaves the same way! Would it have something to do with Revolutionary HBOOT? I'm stumped, but at this point I can't really get to the OS or recovery. I did get to the OS once, but when I tried to plug it in to send over ADB commands/files it rebooted!
I was going to sell it rather cheap, but now I just might give it to a dev. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
...random fact, I put on the newest ICS radios from the OTA but other than that I don't know
Maybe pull out your SD card and try and boot up the phone. How old is your battery? Did you flash just the ota radios or did you flash the update with the new boot? Sounds almost like your min clock speed is to low?

Did you do a full wipe data, system, both caches? I have heard 4ext seems to be having issues with the ota based ics roms. Maybe try flashing teamwin to just see if that's your issue.
