Goodbye Eris hello REZOUND - HTC Rezound

Finally said goodbye the my Eris yesterday and couldn't be happier with my choice on the rezound. I went back and forth for weeks between this and the nexus. In the end the nexus seemed to have too many issues for me. I do have 1 dead pixel at the very bottom of the screen, but not sure it is worth returning for that.

You made the right choice friend! I had the Nexus for about 2 weeks and am so glad to be on the Rezound!

next step is to get this sucker unlocked rooted and debloated. I hate all that extra crap that verizon installed on my phone! Although i seem to be having some issues with HTCdev website. It keeps logging me off when i try to access the unlock bootloader section. grrr

Eris to Rezound, awesome dude!
I couldnt imaine how great the Rezound must feel, I've been spoiled, had Eris, then Inc1, then Inc2, then Gnex, then traded gnex for rezound.
love this phone!

Awesome dude! I switched recently from Eris to Rezound myself and I am truly happy with my choice. This is an awesome phone.

I had the Eris 2 years ago, with the exception of a couple of months with a Droid 2, I've followed HTC through life, Eris to Incredible to Rezound, all good times.

I'm just about done with my Eris as well, thanks to the Eris developers or it would have been tossed sooner.
I leaning towards the Rezound myself. Any good deals out there? Seems the 179 for renewal is all there is. What about continuing the current data plan going forward?

Wow, thats a huge jump. The Rezound will blow away the Eris. I came from a Galaxy S and the Rezound is much better than that.

yea i couldnt imagine how different the change is... i had the Dinc and that was way better than the eris and now the rezound is better than the Dinc

Great decision. I had the Nexus for three weeks and it is an over-hyped phone with way too many issues.

If you have an unlimited plan, you will be able to keep it with the Rezound. I didn't even have to talk to Verizon about it when I upgrated, but others have posted that they have had to double check with Verizon to make double sure that they have remained on the unlimited plan. If you purchase in the store, it should be all taken care of, but there are good deals on Amazon that might be pretty tempting.
Going from the Eris to the Rezound is a very enjoyable bump up - you should have a lot of fun with it. Congrats!

Im having the same problem trying to stay logged in to the htc dev website. What to do.. What to do..

New phone.

Getting a new phone in a few weeks and, while I love my eris and have for a while, I just want a new phone. Soo, I figured I'd ask my fellow eris owners what phone I should move on too. I was thinking either thunderbolt (it's 199.99 certified preowned) or dinc2 for 150.00. I want the charge but it's out of my budget. What do you guys think? I'd appreciate the help.
Sent from my EverVolv Eris using XDA Premium App
If you spend a lot of time in a 4G area, and you download/upload lots of data, the Thunderbolt may be best for you. If these factors are not important to you the Dinc 2 might be best.
Yeah, I'm thinking thunderbolt too. Thanks man. Thanks to all the devs here I had the best possible experience with my eris that I could imagine. Thanks especially to tazz whose roms were amazing and were the main ones that I used.

Bionic??
I am really leaning towards the Bionic. It is supposed to be out soon.
My area will have 4G by the end of the year and I can't see getting anything that isn't 4G capable. I have thought about the TB, but I am not sure I can live with the battery, the Charge is very expensive for what you get and the only other option is the LG Revolution. It is high on my list.
I am going to wait and see what happens with the Bionic over the next few weeks.

Lol thanks man. Now my choices have just expanded. Only problem with switching phones is losing these amazing developers here in the eris forums. Don't get me wrong I'm quite sure the developers for the other phones are great but it's just not the same lol

Personally, my contract is up in sept 15 and i don't plan on getting a 4g phone. I still think those phones have bugs and verizon keeps putting out updates to fix them. I will wait at least a year before i upgrade to 4g. I would probably go with incredible 2. Not sure if SGS II will be 4g or not. You could always wait for that.
Hanging on to my Eris for as long as possible.
I just upgraded from Eris to TBolt about a week ago. The plus one inch screen jump is a bit jarring but otherwise, I'm quite happy with my phone. (At least regarding development) the rom community is still pretty fractured with nothing quite as rock-solid as all the awesome Eris roms here but it's so incredibly active (I doubt it will be so for long... anxiously awaiting a CM7 update).
Anyway, phone-wise, I love my thunderbolt and the great build quality as long as the heft doesn't bother you. Battery life, the biggest complaint, is perfectly manageable and over stated. The rooting processing can be pretty intense but afterwards with a nice, new kernel it lasts a couple days no problem.

Can get a brand new Eris for $100.

Is it worth getting and playing around with?
Sent from my tbolt
Well, considering that this phone still has some development support; go for it. However, don't be incited by my reply, since the Eris is a low-end phone; it may not be as fast as the smartphones today, but the choice is up to you
I would say no... not any more. The Eris is a great device, but there are too many cheap phones that are much better now. Try for the HTC Incredible 2 if you want a cheaper phone with twice the power of the Eris.
For $200 on contract, you can now get a Rezound which is easily 10 times the phone that the Eris is.
**edit**
Wait... you have a TBolt? Why would you be considering something as old as the Eris if you already have that?

Droid x2 users help me pick a new phone

I hope this is ok to post. I came across this promotion where Verizon is willing to let me upgrade early to a 4g phone. I'm asking here cause I've followed this forum for a while and I trust advice from the regular posters here!
I don't think I want to go the Motorola route this time cause of the locked bootloader issue. Im thinking about the rezound, spectrum, or nexus.
The rezound sounds appealing now because of the unlocked bootloader. I would go for a nexus but its more expensive plus I need HDMI. (The rezound is currently $99) I use it daily. The nexus is lacking in accessories big time. So can I get some opinions from my fellow X2 users?

I've been kind of looking at upgrades too. I keep holding off just because the X2 is just beginning to get interesting. At least in my book. That said, I've been looking at the Rezound and Nexus too. They both have their minuses (like all phones) but if I do upgrade, I'm leaning toward the Rezound. One thing about the Rezound though, if you want to use HDMI, you have to buy an adapter for it. It doesn't have a dedicated port for it. Rather, it uses the USB port and for that to work, you have to buy the adapter. One more thing you need to buy but for me, it's not that big of a deal.
Spend some time reading in the forums here for the phones you are interested in and you'll get an idea of what's best for you. If you see a thread in the Rezound or Nexus forum titled something like, Rezound or Nexus, which one?, ignore them. Well, don't ignore them but remember if you're in a Rezound forum and ask that question, there's not much doubt about the way they are going to push you. Same goes for the same question in the Nexus forum. Anyway, spend some time in those forums and you'll get more of a feel for which phone is right for you.
Like I said, I've settled on the Rezound myself. However, I'm holding off to see what comes next for the X2. At least for a bit.
Whatever the case, my next phone won't be a Motorola. It's a shame too. Love their hardware. I don't think they take second to anybody else in the department but I'm kind of tired of being locked out of full usage of a phone that I bought and paid for. Just my two cents worth.

I agree..if Motorola does unlock bootloaders I would definitely be interested in raze maxx or whatever Motorola releases next. Only thing is the rezound is only 99 dollars so that's kind of hard to pass up. I'm not sure that a new CEO is going to make a difference in locked bootlaloaders though. I mean it definitely could for sure, but I think that decision goes a lot further then just one person. But again if the person who runs the place wants it done it would be done

the thing I liked in the article I read bout the ceo switch was "he isn't afraid to roll up his sleeves and put in work" hopefully that means he will make some changes and do things instead of sitting around just collecting fat stacks lol...
and robocuff, I guess im one of the few who thinks 32gb is plenty of space lol...if I had a 4g phone like that I also wouldn't mind storing pretty much all my music and pics in "cloud" form. which would mean I would probly never even fill up HALF that 32gb....and I've convinced myself that the system not having to read an external memory source would speed up how the phone performs ....probly doesn't make a difference tho lol

I thought I'd miss the SD card myself. Now that there are all of these cloud services with huge free GB allotments, I can't imagine needing more than 32 gigs on my nexus. When I mod my wife's DX2, I'm frustrated to have everything separated.
I'd say between the nexus and Rezound, you can't make a wrong choice. They're both top phones. The only thing the nexus has in my book is development support. This is the og droid all over again. This thing will be around for a loooooong time.

Verizon Tech Support giving away Rezounds

a buddy of mine told me that if you currently own a tbolt and call Verizon Wireless complaining about certain issues, they replace it with a Rezound. Has anyone heard anything about this?
If you get your Thunderbolt replaced for valid insurance purposes, they will replace it with a rezound since most, but not all, Verizon stores are out of Thunderbolts.
Some times, though, you won't be offered a rezound. Rather, you may get offered a LG Revolution... which sucks.
There is a post about it here:

Same here. When I talked to the Rep at Asurion about my phone (sucky data connection) I hinted about the rezoned replacement. He told me that they have plenty of TBs around. Which is fine, I like the TB when it's working, with a good ROM it doesn't really matter what the phone is to me.

I think he's talking about my phone being replaced under the phone insurance program (Asurion). This is my 3rd TB from them so I think it's paid off. It's the first phone I bought insurance on and I'm glad I did. Having to cough up several hundred dollars for a new phone would suck.
Edit: Looks like they are out of refurbs at Asurion. I got a brand spanking new TB yesterday. It works beautifully (for now) I'm going to let it sit stock for a few days to make sure but then Jester's ICS will be on there in no time.

The Rezound. Personal preference, but the big part for me is the SD card. Yes, the Nexus has a slightly larger screen, and is, well, a Nexus device, but overall I just really have liked HTC's devices.

Coming to the Droid DNA!!!

Well, after a long debate with myself, and many comparisons I've decided to take the plunge back into the HTC world.. I chose the DNA instead of waiting for the M7/One or whatever it is because I just can't use this iPhone 4 anymore... I think you've made a good choice. I personally like the DNA better than the M7 in terms of overall design and aesthetics. Plus I like my 5" screen - a 4.7" just feels small to me now. The only reason I would've been upset would be if the M7 had the newer series of Qualcomm's processors, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Anyway, congrats on the DNA!

If you have any questions about stuff you're wondering about with the switch to the DNA feel free to send me a PM. I realize you probably know your way around quite well but just in case, I figured I would offer.
One thing that I help people with the most, is actually contacts. If you don't already have all your contacts in a gmail account, go ahead and import them to gmail from wherever they are.
Welcome to the DNA, you won't regret the swap. Even though my girlfriend knows her way around roms and rooting, kernels, and decompiling apk's, her daily driver is an iPhone. I was worried about switching her to the Bolt or Rezound as her daily driver because I didn't want to leave a bad first impression. The DNA is the opposite, as soon as info on the M7 is released she will be switched to the DNA or M7 if its available in a CDMA version, because the build quality and performance are to the highest standards.

I love this phone, I use it on AT&T and I have used my Note 2 at all since I got it. You won't have any regrets about it.

You'll be loving this phone even more now that we have s-off.
Just got my DNA this weekend and finally found the time to root and s off. Its absolutely amazing coming from a rezound. You'll be happy. FYI if you don't already know don't accept the ota or you won't be able to root yet.
