Custom cut ghost armor !! Not really - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Ik so was at the mall last week when had the n7000 and stopped at the ghost armor stand to asking they had a screen protector. The guys said no but he could give me a custom cut which is essentially the same ( made if sound really good ) so i said ok. Buddy pulled out a exacto knife and started cutting. Jagged edges crap cut. So all in all save your money. Product is good but custom cut is actually a pretty big let down

[Review] Ghost Armor

So I noticed there hasnt been many people talking about ghost armor and that its a favorite for a lot of people with other phones. Ive had mine installed for roughly 2 weeks now and just wanted to give my experience with it.
http://www.ghost-armor.com/Samsung/766.html
Coupon Codel: Ga4life (20% off) comes out to $25ish shipped
Whats included? You get a cardboard cylinder, 2 full body ghost armor sets (can give one to a friend and split the cost), cleaning cloth, instructions.
Installation: Real easy, Warm water in a bowl, few drops of dish soap, let skin soak for 10 secs, apply, line up, then use cloth wrapped around a credit card to remove bubbles.
My Opinion? So far i've used a lot of screen protectors on a lot of different phones. I used bestskinsever, invisible shield(several), cheap protectors, and this is the first time i've tried ghost armor. So far I got to say this one is my favorite of all that I have tried. With the invisible shield I never could get a perfect install. with the bestskinsever I got it on and without bubbles, but it seemed to lift up on the edges. My ghost armor right now is practically flawless, no bubbles, but i could of aligned it "slightly" better, but still did a good job. At first it felt a bit grippy getting it out of my pocket grabbed my wallet as well, but after several days it smoothed out and i dont have this issue any more. I havent had much issue with glare or clarity which is always a worry when trying out a new companies screen protector. I've dropped the phone once so far with it but only about 2ft and onto rug, no scratches. If your like me and dont like cases because they make the phone bulky, give this a shot, worth the money for sure.
Thanks dude! I was wondering can you put cases on with the full body ghost armor installed?

I haven't tried any cases with it, but did that 2nd to last pic to show how thin it is, so I don't see it being a issue at all

I have the gunmetal carbon fiber on my Note. It really has a good feeling. I have. Noticed that the s-pen will leave tracks in the screen protector, but it doesn't seem to change the sensitivity at all.
I have a Speck case at home and I can see if it fits.
We have a Ghost Armor kiosk right outside the Apple Store in the mall near me, and with the lifetime warranty, I consider it a well spent $35. 00

I was wondering about this. I loved ghost armor on my EVO but it did get some indentations after time as it is softer than some protectors. I was afraid the S Pen would do a number on it right away.
I am interested in hearing what you think of the protector after playing draw something with the SPen for a couple weeks.

I've had the Ghost armor on my Note for about a month now and I have to say i'm very impressed, Yes it does have a slight orange peel look to it however it has held up to everyday use and a good amount of S-Pen drawing. The S Pen does leave track lines while your using it but after a short period of time those lines tend to disappear.
I have the full body and it fits perfectly with the CaseMate Barely There case.
For the back, does it cover the camera glass?
I was actually thinking about this the other day since I had ghost armor on my SGSII and my only fear with this device is would it throw off the S-Pen pressure sensitivity on the screen when drawing. Whats your experience so far?

I do like the Armor however I have the same occurrence with the pen leaving marks. My biggest issue is I have pressed the S-Pen down fairly hard a few times for a period and the indention remains in the membrane.

S-pen does not work via pressure, it's through magnetic resonance.
It doesn't look like it in the pictures but I want to make sure, does this cover the silver trim around the edges too or just the front and back? I want a skin that covers around the edges. I just bought on of those slim cases that have the top and bottom open and I would feel better if I had a skin that covered the top and bottom.

Ghost Armor Carbon Fiber on Note

Hey guys just here to show you guys what the carbon fiber (black) looks like on the North American Galaxy Note. Feels really nice and ultra thin so you can put it in another case if you would like. Quite frankly it makes the Note look really smexy.
Does the CF offer any additional grip?
looks good. makes me wish i would of opted for the CF, thought about doing the white CF
It doesn't seem to be that grippy, it's a bit more grippy than the original material for sure. The reason I got it was because the back and sides had the potential to be scratched up really easily and I didn't like the glossy feel of the sides.
Also, I would probably get black or gunmetal as the white gets dirty quick I hear.
Remember though, real carbon fiber will impead reception. I have their matt product on mine, but would NOT recommend it at all. Since it's clear and the battery cover is "pitted", it leaves ugly looking almost air bubbles under it ( and yes, I had them put it on for me, that sutff SUCKS putting it on ).
The screen protector of theirs, is better then most, however the SAME PEOPLE make theirs, zagg, and most everyone elses, and it's 3M The diffrence is in the coating. I do like the ghost one the best, as it does not leave the nasty orange peal effect on the screen, and the coating does seem to last approx 6-8 months before it has to be replaced. If you get it done at a mall kiosk, they will re-do it for free if it gets hosed, ( well it's 5$ fee to do it is all ).
Now, if you want a killer bra for your car, ghost armor is your company. It's what they started with. I watched one of their employees do a car recently in it. Took him less then 4 hours, and it was flawless. Takes me that long to get the screen cover on and it looks like crap, i can't even imagine doing something like a hood or what have you.

hmm... co-worker has the iphone case with titanium bumper and carbonfiber back, no signs of reception issues. Also I actually thought install of the GA was easier then most ive put on there.
Ghost Armor is a local company here in AZ.
They say it is definitely Carbon Fiber not vinyl.
Btw, gun metal looks amazing on my blue/black note.

lol... well, you can go back and demand for your money back then ...
google for "3M DI NOC" and read !!... I got these on my other devices and they are definitely NOT real carbon fiber.
carbonfiberfilm.com
3M™ DI-NOC™ is a high-end vinyl from 3M™ from their Architectural Finishes series. The vinyl can be installed on all sorts of surfaces, regardless of the curvature. This means there are an unlimited amount of applications, from the interior of your car to the back of your laptop.
The CA-421 (black) model that we sell gives a dry carbon look, though it's available in 8 different colors. Contrary to initial belief, carbon fiber DI-NOC™ is not just a printed carbon fiber pattern, but in fact has a three-dimensional texture to it. This allows it to reflect light the same way that real carbon fiber would, making it the best real-world alternative to carbon fiber when you just want the look without paying a ton of money.

id stay away from white, ive had it on before and it attracted so much dirt.. there wasnt one day where it was clean.
Man that looks awesome!
We only have 1 small mall stand for Ghost Armor. They only had the clear when i went. Would have loved this CF.
I have tried several of these "skins" over the years ad have not found one that did not eventually start peeling up on the edges. They all look great when new, but they didn't hold up .
Not saying yours is the same. Just my experience with what I had used.

I got the gunmetal version, and after barely a day I'm worried about how it will hold up. I am no Freddy Kruger and accidentally scratched my nail across it, and now it has a scratch. From just my fingernail. To the OP, how is yours holding up over time?

So far so good and I've had it in pockets, and cases. A couple of tiny scratches but it's hardly noticeable as mine is black. No peeling to speak of yet. Though I assume the only peeling will be from the sides, which I don't mind to take off if it does peel but it's on like glue still.
I actually work for ghost armor, and I also have a note , they do sell other colors other then black, gray and white. I myself have almost a lime green on my Note and it looks quite good!

Pictures of note with Ghost Armor carbon fiber, Sweet Armor, and Glas-t

I haven't been thrilled with any of the cases or films I've tried on my Note, but I really liked the look of the Sweet Armor CNC-machined aluminum bumper. So, I decided that while I was waiting for Otterbox or a Kracken or something that I liked I'd go ahead and put this together.
On the front of the phone I didn't like any of the non-glass screen protectors I've tried including Invisibleshield, Armor Suit, and Ghost Armor. Whether it was S-pen tracks, or the Speck case lifted the film I just wasn't happy. So, I finally ended up with a Glas-t and have had it on for a couple weeks and I'm still fairly happy.
Then for cases/protection I've used the Speck, full Invisibleshield, full Armor Suit, and Boxwave Resolute. None of em were really what I wanted. I have an Otterbox Defender on my Streak 5 and I was quite happy with it. I have several friends with aluminum bumpers on their iPhones including mechanics so I figured I'd give the Sweet Armor one a shot. I went with bright chrome for the contrast.
On the back I have a clear film, which I was fine with when the phone was in the Speck or Boxwave cases, but out on its own it doesn't look that good on the Blue Note. I decided carbon fiber might be the look I wanted hanging out of the back of the Sweet Armor but I didn't want to try trimming tabs off the international back cover. So, after looking at pictures, I went to Ghost Armor for their carbon fiber stickers. I chose the gunmetal because the Note spends a lot of time near the windshield, and I hope the lighter color will cut down on radiated heat absorption. (lot of sun in SoCal).
Anyway, they all work fine together, I can still pull the back off the phone even in the Sweet Armor bumper. I'd prefer if the Sweet Armor was a little taller to better protect the screen, but for the time being I shot some pictures of the combo for anyone else who was thinking of going this route.
And, one shot with the watch I wear the most.

Thanks. I don't think so it adds a lot of weight. I was actually surprised when I got it just how light it was. There are air pockets and rubber tape on the inside so it isn't aluminum all the way through and right up against the phone.
I didn't weigh it as my gram scale died and I haven't picked up another one yet. Heck, I didn't even put one case in my left hand and one in my right. That watch is just over 1/2 pound or 258 grams as it sits. So, I am not too concerned about weight really, just protecting the phone and looking good.
I do like how solid the phone feels now as compared to the plastic or rubber cases. Any drops so far have only been 2-3 feet onto carpet or 3 feet from the car mount to the floor in the Jeeps. So, no real hard-core testing about drop resistance really.
Loving the look but itdoesnt look comfortable to hold like My iPhone 4. too many sharp edges. I loved the way my iPhone 3GS felt, perfect curvature, no sharp edges.

I've never held either iPhone, so I can't tell from my own comparison what its like. I guess it all depends on how sensitive you are. The edges are all chamfered. Small chamfers, sure, but I wouldn't call the edges sharp. The corners could be rounded more for more comfort, but even with messing with the phone for hours on end, I don't find myself in pain. The Speck case is a more natural feel in the hand than this one for me and I think that is two-fold. One is the edges, as you've noted, but the other is the raised corners. The Boxwave case had raised corners as well and I found I liked the Speck case better because of it.

And, yep, 77 bucks for the chrome as pictured. Plus, expedited shipping to the US brought it to $102 or $103. Ordered one for me, and one for my girl. Different addresses, so quite a bit into it. But, the Speck wasn't working for us, I was sick of peel-back rubber dual-layer cases, so CNC-machined really piqued my interest.
As you might imagine from CNC-designed (presumably) and machined, fit and finish is awesome. Could provide more protection as I think I mentioned earlier, but I'm good with this for the time being.

Please post pics. This thread is good, unless you want to start another thread. In all the reading I did on reviews before I pulled the trigger a couple of them were pro-black pretty big time. But, for me, with this price point, I wanted it to stand out, hence the chrome I chose. Also, the "black chrome" on the site I just couldn't tell WTH it really was.
Oh, and thanks. I really like the result too.

I've been hesitant to pull the trigger on such a expensive case, but after seeing yours with the ghost armor I had too. I agree I wasn't sure on the black because it wouldn't stand out........and for the price I really wanted it to, but I'm a sucker for black and figured it would look good with the gun metal ghost armor. Are you having issues with any of the screws coming out? Is the ghost armor easy to install?

No problem with the screws coming out at all, and I daily drive some of the most harsh and vibration-prone vehicles on the planet. Old Jeeps.
I actually thought about using never seize on the screws to make sure they come out when I need them to. Steel screw plus aluminum case equals high probability of corrosion and "welding" themselves together.
I just used the included screwdriver and got them reasonably tight. I read somewhere that someone snapped the screws on installation because they used a larger-than-included screwdriver.
As for the ghost armor, I've got lots of experience over the years installing the original invisibleshield. (wet install) The ghost armor was easier to install than the original invisibleshield ever was (no real worries about bubbles, screen alignment, etc since I only used the carbon fiber back portion). So, if its your first time it might be tricky, but the instructions aren't too bad and should get you through it if you have some basic sticker-applying skills.
Cool. Appreciate it. Is the carbon fiber a wet install? Seems like you would just put it on....maybe I just misunderstood ya. Good to hear on the screws, I drive a UPS truck
there not the most luxurious and can be quite bumpy as well.

I did mean that it was a wet install.
But it does make more sense to just put it on.
So, I went back and checked the directions, and sure enough wet. The directions state to mix up some soapy water, but I just used a wet solution I had from some other wet install screen saver I didn't end up liking.

I love it but I'm sad about that... I will probably put a little piece of my old screen protector over the hole... (jerry rig) lol
Also people complain that the screen protector isn't flush with the screen. I notice this but it doesn't bother me nor does it make the phone harder to use. For me.....

I have had it on since Day 1 and it is by far one of the best cases for protection out there.
BUT:
1) BULKY and stick rubber exterior makes it gather dust/dirt and hard to slide in pockets
2) DUST gets under the integrated screen protector constantly.
3) HEAVY ..... phone feels like a feather when you take it out .

It does and doesn't at the same time.
The added grip because of the rubber outer shell helps it feel secure and not slip out.
The increase in thickness and shape makes it feel more natural in my hand as opposed to like a thin slippery blade. I dont have ogre sized hands , so it helps it feel better.
It does bug me a little the way the raised rim sticks up however when im swiping or doing a screenshot.
using a small piece of a regular screen protector over the home button cut out keeps the flour and pizza shrapnel out from under my screen protector. But, it's aesthetically noticable and makes the home button a little "harder" to press. But I'm gonna keep it on so I won't have to clean out my case every day.

To prove that, I had a rinky-dink plastic case on that didn't cover the top and bottom. Straight launched my phone from about 5 feet with it at a gas station. It made some nasty noises and bounced all around.
Not a scratch

I known that ballistic has a similar case but with no holes waiting for it to show up in stores to see if I want that one instead

+1 on the commuter couldn't stand the defender! Fantastic protection with minimal bulk. Even compared to a ballistic case its sleeker and lighter....

I gotta say, loving the defender. It's big but gives the phone a more solid feel for me. I'm not scared that I'll drop it taking it out of my pocket now because it has grip. And even if it does fall it will probably be fine haha

Got the Defender a week ago and I don't find it to feel particularly big or heavy. I had a Rezound with an extended battery before and it's no thicker or heavier than it was. I don't find the dust under the screen protector bothersome because it's totally unnoticeable in most circumstances, and I don't notice the screen protector not sitting flush unless I'm looking for it.
Love the feel of it, much more than the older Defenders. It has the rubberized feel with less of the gripping everything and dust collecting of the old ones. It still does to an extent, but not as much, and it feels more solid and not as soft as the older ones.

Case has damaged phone more than being nekkid would...

Ok, I am kinda peeved right now. I bought a Diztronic TPU case shortly after purchasing my Note 2. The thing is just so slippery it screamed for grippy rubbery case. Fast forward a couple months and here I am taking my case off to clean out any dust inside it, only to find tiny pock marks all over the back of my phone. I swear it looks like a few grains of sand or something got in there, but I can feel nothing. I can only conclude even fine dust particles can scratch the back if caught between the battery door and the TPU case. Pretty disappointed my case has done more damage than keeping my phone nekkid ever would have. I baby my gear and this thing now looks like &#!$ on the back.
Anyone else experience this? Any better kind of case I should use when I order my replacement back? Or do I just need to be better about cleaning out the case more than once every couple months?
Thanks...

I have had this issue too. I bought a cheap TPU case off of Amazon while I was waiting for my phone to come from VZW and put it on after I had pkayed with the phone for a day. When it went in the case it was perfect, a week after being in it the battery door has deep scratches, the chrome bezel around the camera is scratched badly and the chrome bezel around the screen is DENTED IN! The case actually covered the bezel around the screen so it wasn't something in my pocket that did it, it was something that magically got in and out of the case. And lemme tell you those scratches and dents are especially noticeable on the Titanium Note 2...
After that I ordered 2 CruzeLite TPU cases, or whatever they call their cases, and thise worked much much better, my phone got no more scratches and was pretty welly protected. I still wanted something a little better though because I was still scared that if I dropped it that it would get badly damaged so when the Urban Armor Gear case was finally released I bought it and couldnt be more happy.
The sides are a way thicker TPU rubbery type material and the back is hard plastic. It gives the phone a more sturdy feel, like you could drop it and barely worry about it getting damaged. The few times I have dropped it didnt hurt the phone or the case, it is a very welly built case and doesnt add much more bulk than the CruzerLite TPU cases did. I would definitely reccomend you try one if you like the way it looks, the black and orange look really snazzy in my opinion, but I have a thing for orange soo....

I'm anal about my gadgets too. But when you put the case back on, you won't see the pock marks. If it still bugs you, just replace the plastic battery cover. That is why I prefer plastic instead of an all-metal body. If the battery cover gets messed up, you can always get another one. You can't fix damage on an all-metal phone like the HTC One. Yes it's a beautiful device, but once it gets the first scratch or ding, it will never be the same. Just like the first door ding on a new car

I've had this issue with previous cases on other phones in the past but not this time. What I did is within the first hour of getting the phone I wrapped it in that sticky wrap that's cut for our phone that they sale on Amazon then I put it in the case. One the phone looks sick wrapped up and two if I ever wanna pull the wrap off I will have a brand new phone with not one single scratch. Cause I found over time plugging a phone in every night in the pitch black before you go to bed eventually scratches around the port but not this time.

Yeah I found replacement covers on Samsung's site for $20. I know there's cheaper alternatives but I am always wary of knock offs. The bigger bummer is the sides of the phone are jacked too and ya can't replace those. Sucks. I was hoping to sell the Note 2 when the Note 3 arrived, but my resale value just took a nose dive.

Here is the clear skin http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009CFX9RK/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1367861210&sr=8-3&pi=SL75 I bought the brushed stainless. I'll take a pic of it tonight. It does take a little skill and patience but everything fit perfect, I discarded the screen protector tho.

Nice idea. I have a flip cover but I may get a Skinomi to protect the frame.

I bought the Incipio Case LGND and have no regrets. You can find it on their website here http://www.incipio.com/cases/smartp...-cases/samsung-galaxy-note-ii-lgnd-folio.html or spend a little less and buy it from Amazon. However, I'd pay the extra extra money because it comes with a screen protector, cloth and lifetime warranty if purchased directly from the manufacturer. I don't have any issues with debris getting in between the back cover of the phone and the case. The phone is easy to place into the case and take out.
Always clean your case. At least ecery other day. Sabd and little dust particle will eventually get in there no matter how tight your case is.
As for me, I put on Xtremeguard back protector since I had the white version. I figured I can always peel the back and get higher resale value.
