hi im having strange issues, i though was the rom i was using, but i change from rom and my issue persist, when i leave iddle my phone, suddenly or reboots or shutdown :S i guess this its since i update radio to latest, anyone have this issue? i want update all firmware but i read from some, the cellphones are bricked.
im using in mexico.
any help? thanks a lot
Im having this same issues and its getting really annoying . I had a htc screen loop problem so i re locked the phone and ruu'd back to stock of the latest update (or rather flashed the PGIMG86 file or whatever) and the phone literally now reboots its self whenever it feels like , most noticeable if i leave it alone for a little while or press the power button to turn the display off. I re rooted and am now on freshrom and its still doing it occasionally. I think it might have been doing it before i ever did that relock though, too. Is this a problem with the new firmware? Is there anyway to downgrade , like an odin type of application?
this sounds like a kernel issue. the first guy (OP) i assume you are on GSM being out of the united states... i'm not sure i can provide you a whole lot of help there because i am not familiar with the GSM version of the EVO 3D. however, random rebooting can usually be attributed to a few general things, so either of you can trouble shoot and start here....
bad download of boot.img (files were corrupted somewhere)
-you should try flashing another kernel/ROM combo where users are NOT reporting
any issues whatsoever. also, try re-downloading your existing .zip just to make
sure the one you are using is not corrupted.
remove your micro SD card...
-most people don't think of this, but a bad SD card can cause random reboots. it is
a disk, and if your device is getting errors or something when trying to read it, it
will reboot to check the disk. start by moving apps OFF the SD card, then removing
the SD card entirely. if the reboots go away, that was your issue, and time for a
new SD card. i had this same issue when i first got my Evo, thought it was the
phone, turned out it was a bad card.
that's a good place to start. come back with questions/results.
i just deleted everything off of the sd card and it happened again afterwards. also it was happening before re - locking of the bootloader , and across several roms and kernels. totally lost. i also had it happen earlier today with no sd card in the phone , too. It was even happening on complete stock.
was it happening when you first got the phone? if so, time to take it to sprint

its a replacement from asurion , im all out of insurance claims with them , lol . it was my gf's and she wanted a shift so she purchased one off of craigslist and gave me the 3d because my sgs2 has a damaged usb port. as soon as she got it in the mail she imeediatley gave it to me and i rooted it right away , lol , so im really not sure. id like to return it to factory stock before the ota update ,as i have a strange feeling it has something to do with it . i had it for a couple hours completley stock no nothing , then took the ota update and proceeded to root. i dont recall a reboot before that.

exact same situation as me man , it mostly happens when i let the phone go idle , although it just happened when i was trying to edit the bookmarks widget on my home screen , and it seems to have happened after i updated the radio except i didnt flash i took the ota update.....for me its every rom , rooted or unrooted too
Ok happens again with different ROM, so I guess it's the radio, bit the weird thing is turn off the phone, no just reboot
So anyone knows how to revert to .9 radio? Or any solution? Thanks

If you guys are both cdma and hboot 1.5 already.. Why don't you wipe everything in recovery just not your SD cards...
Hboot 1.5 S-ON
Then relock your phone run the RUU 2.17 exe and let it do it's thing then update your profile and so on.
Then just unlock your phone again with the unlock code should fix you guys up....
How are you guys flashing also? What recovery do you use?
I was having the same issues. Random reboots and random shut downs. Really getting frustrating. So I figured I would unroot my phone and take it into Sprint. I followed scrosler's guide to unroot but I used the latest PG86IMG.zip from Mr. Esp's thread. Of course this brought me up to hboot 1.5 but the random restarts and shut downs have stopped.

I did everything you suggested here , down to a tee . I re locked the phone , except for i used the PG86IMG.zip file for 2.17 and loaded it in the bootloader to go back to stock after re locking. I let it sit for a day and then got bored and unlocked and rooted again and am on FreshRom. My original recovery was clockwork but now im on TW , hoping that itd help. Guess im gonna have to re-lock again and RUU back to an older base instead of 2.17. I waanna see if that fixes this problem.

ive done the internal and sd memory fixes but im still having a major issue, i was running clean rom de1.2 perfectly before i went and started the s-off procedure...now once i achieved s-off and i went to upgrade my rom to cleanrom de 1.3 i was getting the memory errors and reboots...went through the steps to fix the memory as i mentioned earlier and im still getting reboots when i receive txts or emails...normally id think this were a rom issue but ive tried some different roms...i thought i had the issues taken care of but now when i go to play some music it reboots plus im still getting reboots with sms and gmail...i froze gmail and have bought enough time to charge my phone to a decent ammount (have been working on this all morning), everything is current and have tried everything from wiping several times and re-installing the roms several times, all the fastboot and adb commands from the storage issues...flashed different kernels and even recoveries...i cant even stream music from my laptop and play it on the phone with out there being a reboot...i can send sms fine, it just appears to be receiving them is the issue...dont know if this is one problem or several...what information of my phone would you guys need to diagnose a problem...
im on:

not sure what else to try...is there a method to getting back to bone stock so i can retry this whole thing again...im talking relocking the device and redoing all the htcdev crap/root/s-off/rom again
thank you very much in advance for any help
Sounds like youre on old firmware. Flash the old firmware patch. If it doesn't help Flash the ruu. If you're s-off no need to relock at all. You'll need to have a Ph file for recovery unless you want to unlock

I had the sd issues after s-off and I never did the editing to fix the issues all I did to fix them was reflash amon ra then reflashed my backup of cleanrom and reflashed the kernel and rebooted then let it startup and then pulled battery and then restarted the phone and everything was back to normal sd card issue fixed. Try that it might work. Oh and I took the jhboot when it asked when it asked if I wanted to install it.

heres what id do:
-run the 3.13.605.07 RUU
-clear storage in hboot
-install the ics jpbear hboot,if desired

i just did the above to go from 3.11/1.2 to 3.13/1.3 and i have absolutely no issues. its smooth, fluid,sd card is there, never rebooted.

That's a Rom. A ruu installs everything. Radios, boot and everything else.

despite many here misusing the term ruu, a ruu is an executable file run on a PC which does quite a bit more than a rom flash. Run one of the Ruu, out wit until Verizon releases a real ruu for ics, which hopefully will be Wednesday.

Despite however exceedingly helpful once again pointing out how many people "misuse" the term RUU may be.. This did not help him solve his problem in the slightest.
OP:
In the above instructions where he says "Run RUU":
-You will need to download the full ICS leak from android police or I believe there's a link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631630
--There are instructions on that site on how to install the RUU.
Then follow the previous poster's instructions about installing a new hboot (if you want to, it is not required)
**EDIT: You do not NEED to do this, please only do it if you know what you're doing. I have had absolutely no reason to replace my hboot and I haven't had any issues.**
Then you will need to reinstall a custom recovery.
Then you can proceed with your wiping/flashing. I remember a previous poster saying to do a factory reset after updating to the new RUU. Not sure if it's required, but I did it and I'm not having any issues.
Hope this helps!
yeah thanks again and i found that original RUU im installing now...i wouldve updated my status earlier but the download took an hour or so...everything seems fine at the moment...its currently updating /system, but i did notice it relocked my device, and i still have s-off though...so my question is, do i need to worry about being locked if ive still got s-off?
UPDATE:
ive got a fully functioning phone now...thanks everyone for the assistance and patience...this has been the most critical mod ive done to any phone...dont know where it screwed up along the way but im gonna enjoy this for a while before i tamper with it again

Hey, i've got a major problem with the mwakious3DromĀ® rom, i followed the wrong steps and installed the newest version straight away through recovery, and now when i turn on the evo 3d it stays on the white screen with green letters 'HTC' forever, it never goes off.
i've tried factory reset but it's of no use; also tried restoring it through a nandroid backup i think, through recovery from jus tafter i rooted but it takes long on the 'restoring boot image' part and once that part's done the other things take place except for 'ext-sdcard' or something, ]it still dosen't work and stays on htc logo when turned on.
I thought i may be able to install a different ROM so i downloaded evolver3D2.3, however when conencted through usb cable from evo 3d to the pc, the 'removable disk (j' shows up but when clicked on it replies ' please insert a disk into removable disk(j', it dosen't let me go onto my sdcard so i cant copy the files.
When i go onto fastboot and have the usb connected the 'fastboot usb' does show up on the 3d so there's still hope i can do something from there but i really don't know where to start and i'm afraid if i've bricked it; have i or is it fixable?
Please, please help me, i would be so grateful
edit : btw, i have the anryl kernel 30.09 if this could be helpful.
First dont worry everything is fixable at xda second i will try to help u as much as i can if ur memory card isnt readable anymore , put mwakious 3D rom 11 the base one on another sd card and boot into recovery and do a full wipe and flash it and to flash thr patches make a full boot then reboot to recovery wipe cache and dalvik cache and flash the update i rly dont know what happened to that sd card and if that didnt work search for OTA ics ruu and flash it in bootloader and then s-off that hboot 1.53.007 trust me its easy and its way easier to flash roms and to avoid bootloops
Hit the thanks button if i helped

If you can remove the sd card and plug it in to your computer directly, you can check to make sure it is working properly (and copy the ROM over at the same time). If you can boot into recovery from fastboot, then you can flash the ROM. If not, you'll have to push a new recovery through your computer.

hey guys, i fixed the problem by popping the sdcard in a blackberry and connecting it, afer a while it started to work so i installed the evolver32 rom. anyways it was workng perfectly BUT wifi dosen't work. so i thought wifi may not work only on that rom, however i installed the mwakious3DromĀ® rom and when i click wifi it says error and theres no wifi connection.. could this be due to me not getting s-off or do they just do that on 1.53.007 ?
I think no wifi is a symptom of a bad kernel flash due to being s-on. So I think being s-off and flashing again might help.

Okay i've been looking since last night for the answer to this question and found out nothing but everyone helping gives up and stops answering the question. Thus the thread is left with answered question.
But here goes. Currently on hboot. 1.50 s-on
Rooted my phone last night and download "mean" ics rom. Put it on the root of my sd card and went to recovery to boot the rom.
the rom wasnt downloading to the system and i dropped the phone by accident onto my bed and the battery fell out. (the back wasnt on it, not a hard fall)
attemped to install the rom again and by accident installed the "viper" ics rom
rebooted phone from recovery and phone will not go further than the htc logo boot.
any suggestions?
i can still go into hboot and recovery if i take my battery out. so i do not think its bricked since i can use my power button.
I think the dropped phone thing is coincidence. I'm pretty certain the issue is ICS and being hboot 1.5 s-on. For some reason, being s-on causes ICS to bootloop for most people. I highly recommend you go s-off. See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1585846

If you can get to recovery, then just Flash a stock rooted rom for your CDMA.
That will boot you up and you can s-off.
Yank the battery and put it back in. Then hold the down volume and press the power button while continuing to hold the down volume button until it boots into bootloader. From there you can get to recovery.
From recovery you can flash a stock rooted rom.
Then the rest should be easy.
After you are s-off you can flash any rom you want to for CDMA and you can flash the new Firmware and Radio.

I am having random reboots. Evo 3D CDMA s-off hboot 1.4 . On all roms I go to. Cannot be fixed by just changing the battery. Can anyone please help
I've had "random" reboots, CDMA S-ON hboot 1.5. They only happen if the screen is turned off when it is not charging. If it is charging, no reboots. If it is not charging, the screen must stay on or it will reboot. Besides the rebooting it functions very well. These reboots happened before and after I
rooted. I tried Mean ROM, it still rebooted. Went back to stock and OTA to ICS, and it still rebooted.
I don't know if this is related to your reboots, but I would appreciate assistance with my reboots too.
I experienced some random reboots on my old htc hd.i had to use to warranty to repair it.

I had the same issue with reboots. I flashed the turn up to date 2.17 firmware bits. Now I'm on the newest firmware bits by freeza. Works great.
Can anyone link me to the freeza firmware? Everybody seems to say it helps them.
I'm totally stock. Updated to ICS OTA and got non stop reboots and freezing. Took the sd card out and phone runs flawlessly. Reformatted and reloaded all backed up folders to sd card and random reboots started again. For me, something on my sd card isn't playing nice with ICS. I'll have to re install my apps slowly to see what's causing it.

I think that this is a software problem. I had random reboots when the phone (GSM version) was running the original firmware (Gingerbread 2.3.4) and with some early unofficial ICS ROMs. After upgrading to KingCobra 1.2 and later the problem disappeared.
So no fix..?... I'm on CDMA and have confirmed it is a software issue.

this happened to me all the time with the 1.06 radio. Never happened when I went back to .97. So far seems ok on the new 1.09

I think that if you upgrade your phone, as I did, the problem will go away.
After the original firmware I used only ICS custom ROMS. If you want to go custom, please choose one good ROM like CoolICS for CDMA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668918
and flash it on your phone (follow the instructions carefully to avoid problems).
I know this has been posted before, but my particular circumstance after reading through many threads has not been covered (as far as i know). I normally flash A LOT of new roms because i'm a bit of a ROM junkie and am always interested in all of you wonderful developers creations. So after flashing may 1000th rom, CM10.1, many times and getting bootloops, i decided to give up and restore the fully functional CM10 I was using prior. Well, after MANY numerous ways of restoring my back up, others roms, stock OEM RUU's/Zips, and bootloader NOTHING will get my phone to get past the WHITE HTC LOGO SCREEN!!!
I at one point couldn't access or mount my internal SD, o kept getting an error message so I connected it to windows and it was recognized and windows prompted me to format the internal SD card because it was "corrupted", so I did and tried flashing again through all the above methods and STILL NOTHING. Now every time i boot into recovery, it sometimes takes 50+ seconds to load or if it does load quicker it says i'm in "safe mode" or "enable 4EXT'S ADVANCED SETTINGS". I'm sorry that this si lengthy, but i'm stumped. Can anyone help me????
When I was on evervolv all my partitions were corrupted according to 4ext. No rom would flash. The only way I was able to recover was to downgrade to an official T-Mobile GB RUU. Once I did that everything was fine and dandy again. Hopefully if you do the same it works for you.
Thank you, I am going to try this today and see if it helps. Did you just put the RUU on the root of the external SD or was it and exe file??
Thanks again for your help!!!

No the ruu should be a zip file not an exe. The ruu's I used are for T-Mobile.
Since your S-Off you should be able to do downgrade and upgrade at will. Sounds like your partitions are messed up. Also make sure your SuperCID as well.
Downgrade your amaze to a GB RUU 1.43.531.3
Check MD5 SUMS
Rename it to PH85IMG.zip
Place on your External SD CARD
Reboot phone into bootloader
Let Phone find update and apply update
Let Phone reboot
If that worked and your able to use your phone
Repeat Steps 1 - 8 and use ICS RUU 2.14.531.3 instead of the GB RUU.
You can't flash an ICS Rom if your firmware is still GB.
Also if you want to get the latest update from T-Mobile that address wifi calling and updates your Firmware and Radio for better battery life and reception follow my guide here

I am having the exact problem as OP but I am S-on, what extra steps do I need to take? Thanks for your help.
EDIT: Since I can't allegedly go backwards from JB/ICS to GB when S-on, the only solution I was able to arrive to on my own accord was to format the internal SD in 4ext. Once I did that 4ext was able to see both internal and ext sd and I was able to flash to my heart's content. I think it was a misaligned partition or something. Fortunately everything on the internal SD was backed up already but in the future is there an easier way to do this without formatting sdcard? I re-locked my phone and tried to flash the latest T-Mobile Stock ICS RUU by renaming it to PH85IMG.zip and letting the bootloader flash it but I still got stuck at the white HTC screen at boot.

ive got the same thing going on, mine is s-on boot loader unlocked. i dont have super cid. ive tried the stock ruu t-moblie gb. in boot loader it reads it but afterwards nothing. ive even tried relocking the bootloader and trying that way, that way is a little differnt. if you relock bootloader then it will force itself in fastboot every time you try to turn it on or plug usb in from your pc. but you cant get into 4ext recovery.fastboot will read that ph85img.zip. and will try to update, but it fail and say cid incorect. but if you unlock your bootloader agein then your can get back into 4ext, but then your just at square one agein. idk im sumped. if any one can help that would be a life saver.

You have 2 options here
1. check your cid version download the appropriate ruu for it I've posted a unbranded version ruu in krooks thread and run it while the bootloader is locked..
2. Go to 4ext download a FLASHABLE ROM a gb rom NOT a ruu and flash it from 4ext and turn on smart flash before doing it ...
Either way you get a working device

it's pretty much that no threads i'm afraid :/ just flash 4ext then put the rom.zip in your ext sd card then go to tools and enable smart flash since your s on then go to install from sd card>>choose zip from sd card>> then select your zip and flash it if you stuck in a bootloop flash faux kernel while enabling smart flash or flash the stock kernel with aio kit
your welcome i prefer the thanks button tho

Still no luck in getting past the splash screen
Well it's been a while since I've posted back on this thread, but I have tried everything that was suggested and i STILL can't get the phone to boot past the HTC Splash screen. I tried flashing many different RUU zips (all renamed PH85IMG) as well as custom ROMS (gingerbread and ICS based) and nothing gets the phone to boot up! They install, but after the phone reboots it's still a no-go. I just don't know what to do anymore. The only thing i can think of is my bootloader is still unlocked, could that have anything to do with this? Like I said earlier my phone is S-ON which makes things more difficult. I'm really hopeless for a solution.
I even mounted the internal and external SD's to the computer and reformatted them. Still doesn't help. Also, my recovery, which is 4EXT, always says i'm in "safe mode" and i have to do something to put it in advanced mode? Please someone help!:crying:
