"Usually Ships 3-4 weeks"

I ordered a champagne 32gb from amazon 2 nights ago when it said 2-3 weeks for shipping, but I got an update yesterday afternoon saying it shipped... Checked tracking today and it just left their Nevada facility, due to arrive on Monday

did you notice the micro hdmi cable for 15 cents?!?! Bought 2 for $6!!!????! Is that cheap? I have never bought each table before so I am not sure what is the proper pricing on items like this.

Big box retailers would have you believe they are quite expensive. The opposite is in fact true, they have a HUGE markup on any cable. This has been a truism for quite a long time. Your best bet is to go with Amazon or Monoprice for all your cable needs, emphasis on Monoprice. They almost always have the best price and have always been good quality for me, and likely others on this forum.

They all look the same but they're not all built the same. When I had a G2X about a dozen people had their devices fried using micro-HDMI cables all purchased from the same discount vendor on Amazon. High-end like Monster's a total waste and overkill but the cheap Chinese specials can end up costing you a fortune if they short out. If something's to good to be true, it usually is.

Exact same thing happened to me. I was just trying to get in line for a later batch of Primes. Didn't really want another one immediately. We'll see on Monday.

I just wish I could find a dock at Amazon. For MSRP that is.

I bought one for 523 (it was a refurbed one so for a brand new one in AG) on the 7th of this month.. So i said screw this im sending it back. Ill be getting back 514 and the new one i just ordered will cost me 503.. hopefully i placed my order soon enough
EVERYONE cross your fingers PLZZZZ
lol

So im excited to say the least. And I know of all the problems others have had. But I liked the one I had.

Couldn't help but see this statement and laugh. Monster and High-end should never ever be in the same sentence together. Their products are absolute garbage, but unfortunately somehow they have managed to achieve this pseudo-status of quality product in the US.
I have a cousin who has worked in pro audio for years and the name Monster is one that leaves a bad taste in the mouth from their awful lies to consumers.

I am not sure this is a big deal anymore. At least in SoCal, seems they are available here and there. Bought one a few weeks back off the shelf at Microcenter but returned it due to wifi and lockup issues.
At this point seems like the wise move is to wait for the next one coming out in 2nd quarter 2012 or look at an ipad3, or next Galaxy.
For the price of the Prime it shouldn't have the issues it has - big disappointment.

Interesting. My old car had AUX and buying any other brand of cable resulted in an awful sound within weeks if not months if the cable didn't completely degrade early on. Spent $5 more for Monster cable and that thing lasted me for 3 years before getting my new car with BT and the sound was great.
The only Monster product I ever bought and it completely murdered every other brand at Best Buy that manufactured aux cables.

I got a monster component video cable on Amazon for $15 to use for my Youtube recording, and aside from that thing being a thick heavy snake, it performed basically the same as a cheaper cable. That thing is so heavy that you could kill someone with it if you swung it hard enough. I suppose reliability is bulky

Cables matter if their analogue but not so much if there digital like hdmi

G tablet Accessories on the way

Hi everyone, I bought the G tablet for my son for Christmas and having been searching for accessories ever since. My persistence paid off. I emailed ViewSonic directly and called repeatedly until I finally got through to a legit person. I was advised on January 19th that accessories such as a docking station, cases, and other plug-ins are on the way. I was promised to have a docking station sent to me free of charge, so I'll let you know when that comes and I'll post some pictures. The timeline was vague, but he said within 4 weeks the accessories should start showing up at Office Depot and the other retailers selling the G tab. I'll keep everyone posted.

That would be so nice, as long as it's a good price point I welcome accessories here in the states and 'readily' available.
I hope this holds up!
... I'm really tired of shipping stuff.

I'm curious. Did you send in the free dock rebate thingy with Sears or did they just offer you one because you were persistent? I would really like one and I can be quite persistent too.
That's great news - I bought a case from Staples that's meant for the Ipad supposedly that's just gotten a teensy bit too big for the gtab so having a nicely fit jacket would be helpful.
After three calls and 2 conversations with his secretary, the individual I talked with said he had overall responsibility for the Gtab. We talked about the many accessories and at the end of the call he offered the dock. It was from persistence.

What was said here? Can you elaborate?
Carrying cases, cases with keypads, and docking stations were mostly discussed. He kept coming back to the docking station saying it could either stand next to a desktop or alone on a desk. We also discussed the carrying cases, which he made it sound like a leather case because he indicated that it would be nice to take to meetings for professionals. He said many accessories will begin showing up at the retailers, but we really didn't go through a whole list. I'm just as anxious as everyone else to see what many accessories ends up being and the docking station when that arrives.

I hate to sound like a skeptic; however I have heard this same story from them since Thanksgiving and it is always the same time line given. While I would truly be happy if this was real, my advice would be to not get your hopes up too high.
There are G Tablet users on here scouring the web looking for alternatives that work for this tablet. There are also a plethora of new 10" tablets starting to hit the market which seem to have more accessory support than our G Tablets. Those accessories should work very nicely for our tablet and we will then have a variety of items to choose.
While I am a HUGE fan of this tablet (I own 2 of them); I have been very disappointed with Viewsonic and the very poor go to market strategy (or lack thereof) which was employed.
Misses on this tablet:
1: They did not have accessories ready to ship when tablet released
2: The ROM was at best half baked and disappointed EVERYONE; this caused something with great hardware to quickly accumulate a bad rep with little hope of recovery. Lets be honest... it has gotten pretty bad reviews!
3: Little to no marketing effort on the behalf of Viewsonic. (They just dumped it out there and no real fan fare was given. I would attribute that to the fact they knew the ROM was crap and did not want to attract too much attention).
4: No real effort on Viewsonic's part to really turn this situation around; oh yes they have made a few cosmetic changes to the ROM... but really folks... that is about it.
Hits on this tablet:
1: Excellent hardware
Champions:
The XDA Devs who took on the monumental task of making this tablet worth owning! The only reason I have two of these is because of all of the efforts and sharing being done by the XDA community as a whole. Viewsonic needs to finacially support these devs and give all of us an accessory of our choice or ship us an upgraded device (whatever they are going to replace this with in the future) due to the primary fact they we beta tested this device and were used as unwitting Guinna pigs by Viewsonic.
Again... don't hold your breath... you will surely turn blue and die before this happens.
I am very happy with this tablet and for what I wanted in a tablet this will serve me well for quite a while. Just remember when something is Bleeding Edge... it does mean YOU will bleed while trying to make the new technology work!
Just my two cents worth....
I guess we will collectively hold our breath...
Perhaps off topic but has anyone seen any sales numbers (units sold) for the gTablet? It probably wouldn't make economic sense to roll out a line of accessories if sales sucked. I did some research last week and didn't find anything. Plenty out there on competitors tablets though.

I'm guessing not so good seeing how several retailers returned all of their stock. The reviews were mostly negative or mixed at best. All of this was due to crap ROM it shipped with. The average consumer would much rather shell out the extra money for a different tablet instead of going through the trouble of flashing a custom ROM like us.

I agree...
The only thing holding this up is the HARDWARE. I'm currently looking to put a newer ROM on there than the one I put on after I discovered the monstrosity they had shipped it with..
A leather jacket would be great.

I ordered the dock from Merimobiles on the 17th and it arrived today on the 31st. Completely took me by surprise. I was trying to beat the Chinese New Years. I was expecting it in another few weeks frankly. Too bad Viewsonic didn't have a number of these in wait at the launch. Probably needed to rebrand. A sticker would have sufficed for me. Now to get back to testing it ....
Has anyone received a defective docking station? Mine will not charge the Tablet. I placed the tablet in the docking station and plugged the station in a wall outlet with the AC/DC convertor I got with the Tablet. The light on the tablet never came on and the tablet was never charged.
Also, there was something fairly heavy that was moving around inside the dock as you rotated or shifted it. I don't know if something was broken inside or it was just a weight used to make the dock more stable. It just didn't seem normal. When I contacted Merimobiles they seemed upset and said that no one had returned this unit and that it was a very well-made item.
Well, I'm returning it.

Consider yourself lucky. I ordered mine from Merimobiles on 12/29 and still have not received it. I got one reply from them after several attempts that the processing got delayed b/c of Xmas and that it didn't ship until 1/4. I finally got a tracking number and it says it shipped on 1/26. I'll spare you all the language that is going through my head for this company.
I like to see some accessories here in the US also. I’m a little leery about buying thing from overseas vendors. Either way I think we’ll be waiting a while for something to show up.
I emailed for an update on the accessories that are due out and the response "You will see accessories in stores March 1". Still holding my breath.

New sale price (for those who are still waiting)

I came across an add for the Sony Tablet S that I thought I should share with some folks who might be looking for a deal.
Sony Tablet S (32gb)
Sony Tablet S Cradle (A/C not included)
although it says that the A/C is not included, I think there will probably be an ac adapter in the Sony Tablet S Box... I remember I purchased a different bundle that included the tablet, a cradle, and an ac adapter, and i ended up with two AC adapters because one came in the box with the tablet, and another came in a box by itself.
in any case, it's 479.99 after the advertised checkout-coupon here's a link:
Tigerdirect.com Sony Tablet S 32gb + cradle
Pretty spiffy deal wish mine came with a cradle.
I'd guess the ac-adapter that came with the tablet would just plug into the back of the cradle.

yup. the 32gb tablet alone sells for 499.99USD on the sony website. so really, you're getting 20 bucks and the cradle free.
the power port for the cradle is the same a the tablet. that's why i thought it was odd they would send two.
I think I lucked out when I bought my 32gb because I was able to get the Sony employee sale price of $399 end of November. But here is a little incite on that... If you have a local Sony store I would ask them to hook you up with the employee price. My understanding is they are able to do that and as I was told a sale is sale towards meeting their goals. If you haven’t bought one yet and are considering I would give it a shot. It worked for me and just like I had nothing to lose so do you. All you have to do is ask for it.
I'm a little pissed that I Purchased the Sony Tablet S on 1/2/12 for $499 now it's $399.
Best Buy policy is only 15 days return so I'm stuck at paying that price.
I wonder if Sony have some kind of refund policy just like Apple when they dropped the price with the iPhone.

Nice, that's almost half of what I paid ($499 + 6% tax). Only if I waited one more week.
I paid 429 for my 32gb about two weeks ago

Advertised as open box.
So far so good.

Lost my USB charging cord, anything I need to keep in mind when replacing?

Is it Mini Usb or Micro Usb, is there even a difference? Is it a specific type of cord that came with my phone in the first place, or can I pick up any cheapo cord and not notice a difference?
I can't believe I lost it, I still have the wall plugin that uses Usb2.0 or the full sized Usb, I just don't have the cord... Sorry if this is a dumb question but yeah I'm flat broke right now, don't want to have to buy two cords.
Also I'll be going into an actual store to buy it because I neeeeed to charge my phone right now, It's at like 2% battery but turned off at the moment. Would Bestbuy/Futureshop be the place to go, or can I just go into the walmart electronics section and get whatever cords are there? Or should I just get a cheapo cord from Wal Mart and order a better quality one online when I get more money?
Any micro USB cable will do. There's nothing special about one or the other.
I've usually bought them on amazon for a buck or so each. Someone already posted a link in this forum but here it is
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Repla...UOQI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333654884&sr=8-1
It is $1.90 with free shipping.
If you cannot wait I'd just order that, go to BestBuy and paid their ridiculous $20-30 for the cable, use it, then once you get the one from Amazon, return the one at BestBuy.
I've found BestBuy very useful for getting something to use until my package comes from Amazon or Newegg.

not to sound like a ****, but maybe it's people like you that makes **** cost more for the rest of us. plan ahead and save everyone the trouble.
because I'm unwilling to spend $20-30 on something that costs them about a buck? Their markup is just ridiculous. If they had it reasonably priced, at most $5 it would be a different story. But when they have no employees, they close down the front registers so they can have a full 2 people working on customer service, returns, and checking people out, then 2 more running the entire floor for sales, they do not need that kind of markup, so why pay it.

if you find their price unreasonable, then don't buy it. buying and returning a perfectly useable product is a douche move no matter how you look at it.
My local Staples has a combo cable pack for about $10 with two cables - one mini USB and one micro USB.

Great price, fast shipping and high quality cables. The USB cables I bought from them are great quality and longer. I think I punched the 6 footers.
I purchase all my cables from them.

One thing to remember - some cheap microUSB cables possess only the two internal links needed for charging. A true data cable has five internal wires. It's almost impossible to tell from pictures which is which, but generally the two-wire ones are labelled as 'charge only' or something similar.
Caught me off-guard once when trying to connect to PC, didn't know what was up. Turns out the USB connector only had two contacts!

[Q] What's Prime worth? Considering selling

Hey guys. I bought my Prime mid February (C1O serial) and my Wi-Fi is great, obviously GPS is non existent, but I do have the dongle.
Even though I have no problems with my Prime, thanks to a custom ROM/kernel, I'm considering selling. It's mint condition, with the dock. Now I could just start at just below $600 as the asking price, but who would know better than the owners themselves?
What do you think is a good price for the Prime with dock, 10` hdmi cable, and 16GB SD card? The cable was only 3 bucks online, and the sd I got for free, so I won't charge extra for them, just use them to sweeten the deal. I live in Chicago if that really matters.
Any input is appreciated, also suggestions on what to buy (besides the Infinity obviously)

Sorry, but $600 for a used device with no warranty is too high. I just bought mine new last week from Amazon.com. For the 32gb prime + dock + Sandisk 32gb MicroSD + case for a total of $639 including over night shipping. And with Amazon, if I don't like it or just change my mind, I can send it back where you can't do that when buying from an individual.
Amazon is also selling used ones for $415 for the device + $98 for the dock = $513 total with free shipping. Once again, buying from Amazon, the buyer could return it which I assume you could not offer. So, you would have to beat Amazon's price in order to make it worthwhile. I'd say no more than about $400 including shipping.
Sorry for the bad news - but that's how it goes with electronics. At $400 it would have retained its value amazingly well all things considered.
I was just on Ebay last night checking completed listings for the Prime. Saw that just the tablet alone was selling for about 350-400. Tablet with dock, orig box etc 450-500. Tablet, dock, dongle and/or case sleeve protector accessories i saw 500-550.
looked like the prime is still holding a decent resale price.
It was also amazing how many being sold do not have the GPS dongle.
just don't sell it to best buy... they will pay $110-$120 for it (shows you haw many returns they had)
but...its too bad you never got a square trade warranty with it. I would say reasonable is $375 - $430. obviously if it has a screen protector, perfect condition, etc it'll go for more. just sell it before tf700 comes out because then it will really drop in resell price

Wow..I didn't know that about the used ones on Amazon
As for asking $600, I just meant to start high, so the buyer can negotiate. I know I'm not getting 6.
But see, that's exactly why I posted here. I've bought and sold about 10 devices on Craigslist, and I do reasonably well...so it's not like I need help. But I wanted to get input from you guys, because everyone is selling high on there, and it seems too much to me, and I don't want to be just another overpriced used Prime for sale.

just don't sell it to best buy... they will pay $110-$120 for it (shows you haw many returns they had)
but...its too bad you never got a square trade warranty with it. I would say reasonable is $375 - $430. obviously if it has a screen protector, perfect condition, etc it'll go for more. just sell it before tf700 comes out because then it will really drop in resell price

Wow lol. That's like selling PS3 games to GameStop You buy a $60 dollar game from them new, and they offer you like $9 for it 2 weeks later. Then you see it being sold used for $50. Haha.
I did consider ST just so that I could destroy it myself come September/October when something else came out. Send it to them smashed and water logged so they'd send me $500. Too late now
$300-$350 and it will move. The price will rapidly drop in the coming months so I suggest you move it now.
You have to consider the fact that even though this tablet is stellar, you have to have a techie brain to use it to its ability, with the Wifi/GPS/browser issues and all. Not to mention, you have the 300 already out and the Infinity swirling with rumors to be released soon.

Ouch, $300-$350 would sting
That's almost half price. But I know what you're sayin.
It's not so much how much I get for it, knowing what it costed me, but more about getting enough to cover my next device. Even though I've got $650+ into it, if my next device costs $375, I'd be glad to sell it for $375. IDK...the only thing out that slightly interests me is the 10" Acer Iconia A700, but it's not shipping till this weekend so no real hands-on reviews yet.
And of course, the Asus/Google tab
So many choices, so little $$$
According to current eBay auctions, the going price for a used Prime tops out at around $400.

I sold my Acer A500 and then bought the Prime. I didn't get nearly what I paid for it (I think I sold it for $250), but when I established the price, it was gone by the end of the week. People can find the tablet for cheap if they really need to. If you want to move it, then drop it a touch lower than everything else on the internet and stand behind your product. Works every time for me.
I've just decided to sell my HP TM2. I bought it for $1050. I want to sell it for $800. I'm going to sell it for $650-$700. It will move.

I've been using the Vu for a year with my Nexus 7, and on the Nexus 6 since it came in the mail. I haven't had a single charging or overheating issue. Since the Vu is a dock instead of a puck, there's no extra step of lining up the phone if you place it in portrait mode.
Got a flat AUX cable. Was going to also get a flat USB cable but do they support fast charging? I'm guessing not since they offer data connections too.

When I was researching last year for my nexus 5, you had to place it bottom then lay it back on charger or it had heating issues...hopefully nexus 6 isn't so picky
Thanks for the heads up! I've been waiting for the Tylt to go on sale!!! Ordered two of them! :good:
Picked one of these up earlier this week on sale. So far its a great charger for the N6
Not working for me. Says not a valid coupon. Guess you guys got lucky cause it's not supposed to go live until midnight.
*edit
Never mind. Worked after switching to IE 11 from Chrome.
Thanks OP!
I just bought one on Amazon using a gift card I had. I may buy a second and return the Amazon one.
Dammit, no shipping to Spain ?

I did not experience this with my N5 in the last...I was able to place it any manner on the Vu w/out challenges.
Looking forward to seeing the pair work together for sure.
Thanks for the heads up, now I just need the damn phone.
Ordered a black one, now I need to send my blue one back to amazon when it arrives.
Thanks just ordered 1.
