This is just sorta a little tip that i found...its not completely black...but close to it
1. Go into settings, and display
2. Make sure the display mode is set to standard
3. Uncheck the box that says analyze LCD brightness.
Thats it...colors should be more dark now and the status bar is not that annoying gray!!!
Aaarrgghhh my eyes!
The grey background of the settings window got so bright when I unchecked the box, it actually hurt my eyes.
I had a tf101 before the tab and I actually prefer the look of the touchwiz stuff to stock HC, but I might just be weird...

The screen filter allows you to lower the brightness beyond the standard in settings, but if im laying in bed reading its annoying that the keys light up evertime I touch the screen. Thats why, I thought there was some mod we could do, plus the filter has an option to turn backlight off but nothing happens

When my eyes are used to reading on the nice low brightness these 4 keys light up the whole room! I think it has to do with the Vibrant's kernel.
I had the exact same problem but found a simple solution
just get a small but thick rubberbands...like the ones found ariund celery....and wrap it around the bottom of your phone....enough light seeps through that you can still see the buttons and they still work perfectly
Turn all the lights off, make sure the room is very dark.
Turn on auto brightness in settings.
Turn on auto screen power adjustment.
Click the following link and make the imagine full screen.
Look specifically for black horizontal lines going down the screen. I have one, my best friend has one in a different spot, my girlfriend has none. All bought from the same store.

***POST UPDATED****
Ok now listen very carefully. In order to see this picture you need to have your brightness all the way UP.
You have to do the exact opposite that you have to do when trying to find the defect on your own screen.
This is a picture of my screen taken in total darkness with a damn playskool camera:

Interesting... I have a solid darker line going from top to bottom slightly to the left from the center. I also see some spots around the screen that I thought at first might have been fingerprints as they're a little more blurred than the rest.
Never noticed anything until I viewed this image.

I don't know if I'm doing this right. I don't really see "lines", just two boxes at the bottom that I can move left and right. Then the whole middle of the screen isn't as "dark" as the top 25%.

You need to take one of the attached grey images and open it full screen on your phone so that nothing else is showing on the screen. Then follow the rest of the instructions to check for defects.

Ya I have one too that's slightly left, same as was described already in this thread. When did you get yours? I got mine the first day, if you got yours on the same day then both screens were probably in the same batch and all have this defect. It isn't visible outside of a gray picture in complete darkness, and doesn't effect the screen otherwise, so I'm pretty sure that the screen passed QA testing wihtout anyone noticing.
everyone ive showed this to has a line from top to bottom slightly to the left....you sure its not just in the wallpaper....because ive looked at similar dark grey wallpapers with the same settings on in dark light and none of thoes have ever showed a line
mine doesnt have any !

that stupid option to change the color is ONLY reffering to the box your typing in not the messaging background. i know it sucks, it had me puzzled as well. but thats the answer your looking for.
change it to black and start writing a text....the box your writing in will be black with white letters....change it back to white and the box your typing in will white with black letters and that is it.

How do you install and use this theme? I installed it, but it does not show in my app drawer. What am I doing wrong?
Look in your app drawer..Then look for Theme Chooser and select. That should do it for you.
You can find it in Theme choser. It's greyed out. It will say its the wrong size, do it anyways.

By "bar", I mean the bar that's in portrait mode. The one you have in phones and not tablets. The bar that has the phone icon on it.

Ate you talking about the dock? I don't know if you can turn that off in ADW, but I use ADW EX and you can turn it off with that. Other launchers may allow turning it off as well, but I can't name any.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
I think he's talking about the bar that the buttons themselves are in. That you're stuck with as far as I know. We can get our tablets close to looking like CM9, but CM7 still has limits.
But some more fun things...
I'm using SPB shell 3d with a live wallpaper and I'm still getting good use out of the battery.
Normally SPB as cool as it looks is a resource hog, but I still have lots of free ram with the tablet.
I am including a screenshot showing what I am talking about.
It is the bar that has the app drawer and the phone icon

Look for an option in your launcher settings to hide the dock. I know ADW EX has that option. Not sure what you're using there.
Sent from my Nook Tablet using Tapatalk
In adw XL go to settings then themes and select no theme for dock bar.
To change the apps in the bar hold down on them, drag them out and add what you want.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
For the dock bar go to Settings -> Adw launcher -> UI settings -> main dock style. Just select "none"
Yeah, that dock is kinda out of place on a tablet. Just so you can still access your app drawer, just long click on the screen, select launcher action, and pick open/close app drawer. I put one on every screen so that the app drawer is always accessible.
thx,ICS theme is pretty cooooolllllllll
I had to switch back to ADW, and now I got rid of the dock completely.
I have a couple of requests still: How do I add the apps drawer as the guy had on the top right of his NT?
Another thing I would love to do: make the soft home button actually display the apps, as of now, it only pulls the home screen.

Long press on the home screen and select launcher actions. You can control what the home button does though ADW settings.

Are you using the gallery to change it. It will not work with the 4.2 gallery if you selected that in aroma during install. No sure about go launcher tho as I haven't used that since pre-ics days
So when I go to that option, it only allows me to pick a wallpaper using gallery. It won't allow me to use any of the other media apps like quickpic...
Can that be changed? How can I have the phone allow me to use quick pic at the choose lock screen wallpaper selection screen?

You need to open gallery, find the pic you want, hit menu, then set as. This will bring up options where to set it
After I do that, the wallpaper remains the same. This really isn't that big of a deal, just a small thing I would like to be able to do. Any thoughts on why it won't take?
I will try restarting the phone and see if that does anything...

Hmmmm. Not really sure from here. Could be an issue from the pin lock? Have you tried changing it to swype and see if it works? If not I'm not sure, maybe a go launcher issue.
