[RELEASE][20/04/12] Flashable file for W8/E16i - XPERIA X8 Android Development

Hello Guys,
Finally here I present you the .ftf (flashable) file for our beloved device W8.
Download:-

How To:-
1. Open Flashtool after you have downloaded the file.
2. Click on Flash.
3. Select Flashmode.
4. Select W8_E16i_2.1.1.A.0.53.ftf from the menu now provided. (I have assumed that you already have copied the .ftf file in the firmwares folder. If not please do now.)
5. Do as the dialogue box says.
6. After 100% Completion! You are great to go!

This is the source code, not the binary files of the kernel/baseband!
Creating a FTF is not as easy as compiling the kernel; Google around and you will find that this is rocket science squared.
EDIT:
To create a kernel only FTF bundle one would need the decompiled...
- kernel.sin
- loader.sin
...out of a W8 NAND dump.
To create a Baseband (plus Kernel) FTF one needs the decompiled...
- amss.sin
- amss_fs.sin
- cache.sin
- fota0.sin
- fota1.sin
- kernel.sin
- loader.sin
...out of a W8 NAND dump.
If you can get hold of these files you can actually "create" the FTF bundle with Flashtool yourself.
In the window where you would select the FTF you select the files belonging together so Flashtool shows them in the next window for selection. There you would select all of them and then flash. Since a FTF is a signed ZIP (yes, rename a FTF to ZIP and you can see what's inside), and I don't know of a signer for FTF files, that would be the only possible way (unless it would be possible to simply take apart a signed FTF and replace the files with the ones from the E16).

Update: I Googled for you ...
HERE is a W8(E16I)_2.1.1.A.0.53_HK.ftf for download (HK = HONG KONG).
If you can work out how to download the file, as I can't read chickenscratch, you could try to see if it contains other languages as well.
And here's another download of the same ROM version - also all written in chickenscratch.

Happened to check the link and found the download button. Its the "White" button to the right of the "Red" button.
I have X8 but I am currently downloading the file. Do you think this file can be used with X8(I am going to try it out anyway).

Managed to flash it with Flashtool on my X8 and this is what i got(See attachments).
The 3rd picture is just to show you the list of chinese apps that are included in the package.

This is a xRecovery back up. I have that of my phone too.
The reason I have created this thread is to develop a flashable file which gives a clean, un-rooted stock W8 ROM.

Hmmm but you want to do this for what?
You actually flashed W8 frimware. So?
If u wanna create clean file for flashtool you should make tool to sign thoose files first. If you have enought knowadle to do that it will be awsome
Therefore we would be able to flash custom roms using flashtool ;D

Maybe you cannot do it now but if everyone spread the word about this, perhaps soon some advanced developer could do it for us

Now it is not possible to restore my W8 to stock firmware using PC companion repair option .Dont know why.It always saying no update available.I think something in custom rom messed up some data which prevents detection as W8.Is there any way to force PC companion to restore my W8 to stock?

Best method is Wotan client. first register in the site.then download Wotan client .After imputing username and password it will download and flash the latest one. After than you can repair/update with PCC or SEUS.My Problems solved. Thanks for all.

Hi,
I have unlocked the bootloader and using nAa kernel right now.. so if i want to flash this stock rom.. should i relock the bootloader and flash stock kernel and then flash this?????... i just wanted to keep this in case i have a soft brick while experimenting .. u know wat i mean??..
