MHL Compatible ROM - HBoot 1.5? - HTC EVO 3D

I've gotta say - I've been a little disappointed since rooting my phone a couple weeks ago. I haven't gotten any additional features that I wanted - though running Olympus Rom - it seemed everything ran a little snappier than it used to.
However, today I found out that my MHL adapter no longer works. With Olympus, I got an immediate crash, then after reboot - my adapter only worked to charge the phone. No HDMI out.
Then - after installing a Nocturnal Rom which was supposed to be stock with some tweaks, all I get is an immediate crash when connecting to my MHL adapter. Whether or not the HDMI cable is connected. WTF.
Can anyone tell me a ROM they've got working MHL with? I'm guessing the hboot might make a difference, since I never got USB host capability and some other features I expected out of Olympus Rom.

i think olympus used my kernel and older version had hdmi/mhl issues on hw002 phones, but was fine on hw001 (i test on 001)
flash my r13 release over ur rom - should fix your issue.

Thanks Chad. Unfortunately, the new problem I'm having seems to be that for some reason - I can't flash a new kernel? No matter what I do - your old kernel shows up under the settings menu.

Thanks Chad - I was finally able to change my kernel to r13 using Flash Image GUI. MHL works great now!
It definitely seems to have been an issue with hw002. I still don't have USB host though - so if you find that it's possible to get us a kernel with working USB host for hw002 phones - please let us know.

[Q] Question about new leaked ICS roms and OTG USB.

Do any support OTG USB? Have had this problem since I got the phone and no one has yet to offer me a straight up answer. I know GB wasn't supposed to support it but even rom/kernel combos like Titan and Chads Anthrax that claimed to support it did not. So now with ICS builds being practically fully functional do we finally have OTG USB or is this a HW problem and will never work. If anyone has this working on their phone I would like links to roms/kernels/tutorials you used to make it work.
As far as I know, none of the current ROMs support OTG. I know Chad is/was working on a kernel for ICS that would support it, but I'm guessing you'd need something like CM9 or AOSP ROM to take advantage of it.

[Q] MHL Cable not working

Hello everyone. I bought a mhl cable but it doesnt seem to be working properly. Im running Rootbox ics v1.8 with latest siyah kernel. I connected everything as it was suppossed to be connected, even the charger. My wifi signal drops and the image in the tv dissapears every few seconds and sometimes it just freezes. Phone is working perfectly as always but seems like the tv's image can't keep up with what's going on. if i watch a video that i have in my phone it works fine, but once i start doing anything else, like browsing the web, tv screen just goes black or it just freezes. This is really frustrating. I also tried turning airplane mode on but that didn't help. I also tried to overclock my phone but that didn't help as well. Any help would be appreciated.

MHL doesn't work for mirroring the display on any ROMs that are not based on Samsung stock.
RootBox is not based on Samsung stock, so it is subject to the same issues and limitations that all other AOSP and AOKP ROMs suffer from. This is one of those issues.
If you want MHL to work for stuff other than videos, then you will have to go to a stock firmware, or a ROM based on Samsung stock.

Thank You so much. I just downloaded stock rom and put it as a secondary rom and now i just have to switch roms in order to enjoy my tv experience. Thanks!
I'm having a problem. I have a galaxy sII, but even watching a video in 1080, the image is horrible.
I use version 2.3.6 Gingerbread
UHKI1 I9100
2.6.35.14 kernel N.E.A. K-x 1.4.2
May be the kernel problem?

[Q] Fastboot on 3.0 Ports?

It's late, i get busy, but i still like to do my homework before coming forward with a question.
Unfortunately, I get the feeling my issues boil down to the fact that all my USB ports are 3.0 The issue at hand is that my sister's Evo 3D had an outdated 2.3.4 MetroPCS rom, and I was going to get her on Nocturnal's latest, I believe that's the ICS version. I don't want her on JellyBean since I don't want to hear her complain about too many things not working, and also, she's on Metro.
To my understanding, she's got her Bootloader unlocked, and her S-On (which i was at a brick wall in turning off without USB 2.0 Ports.)
HBoot 1.50
Luckily, I'm not that ignorant not to make a CWM backup of her phone before messing with it, and so it has the only working tacky outdated ROM that seems to be locked down as the only thing that wants to run on her Evo 3D.
I admit, in attempt to fix a feature for her, I broke another/ gave her an annoying force-close issue. I followed some old steps on August 28, 2012 to getting Voicemail notification to work on her MetroROM, and i suppose the Android GB versions were a tad diff, so each time her calls end, she gets force-closing issues and so forth. (It was my fault) The easiest thing I can think of is hunting down the 2.3.4 Official Rom, extract the Phone.APK from there, and push it to her phone, although I am unaware if that'll do the trick.
Anyway, that's the trouble I caused her, and so when i finally got tired of hearing her complain (for an issue i made her deal with for about..6 months? LOL (poor sister) ) I decided it was best to update her to the latest Metro Rom i could find for Evo 3D.
I would like to know what my options are (if any) assuming I had only 3.0 USB Ports to work with.
Thanks for your time!
(For now, I restored her back to the CWM backup from August 28, 2012) --Deleted all her contacts (again)

Hmm, there's a way in Windows to change the USB 3.0 to 2.0 somehow.
Try looking that up, I don't remember where I read it, but it's possible.

I think it's possible in the BIOS, my PC and laptop offer that option since all of the ports were USB3.0, my HTC Evo 3D is S-OFF now.
No such option on my BIOS. If there's no other way to get S-OFF on a laptop that is just 3.0 ports then I'll just have to find a 2.0 usb port equipped laptop.

Dock not working on leaked ARHD 4.2.1

Has anyone else experienced this?
I just installed the ARHD 30.1 rom, and my car dock is no longer recognised. It doesn't even charge the phone.
It was working fine with the previous version. And the lead to the dock works when plugged directly into the phone.
Anyone know why this is? It is probably just the fact it is leaked, and not final yet. Or is there some kind of setting, or program I need to install.
Cheers.

[Q] Snow Leopord's Stock Rom & MHL

Will Snow Leopards stock AT&T rom located in developers forum restore/provide MHL connection ability?
Edit: Sorry for mispelling your name Snow. It won't happen again.

which ROM does it not work for you with? Also the adaptor needs to be powered by micro usb , and the order that the cables get connected seems to matter. Connect to phone last, trial and error for other two.

I'm on CM 11-20140104-NIGHTLY-e970
Monitor: ACER AL1917W (DVI connection)
Micro USB-DVI adapter: iKross MHL
Connecting LGOG last indicates no connection. I am certain LGOG is powering since screen remains on.
It is why I ask if returning to SnowLeopords stock rom will restore MHL.

You could likely even just use a different AOSP-base rom, no need to go all the way back to 4.1.
I know for a fact that Houstonn's 4.3 PA builds work with MHL, and I believe the official CM10.2 build also work.

I can confirm it is working on Beanstalk 4.4 also , using Samsung MHL that came with Infuse.
Do you know what kernel has MHL support for CyanogenMod?

I installed the Beanstalk 4.4 rom which included the slimkat kernel. The mhl worked. I purchased a rocketfish adapter and plugged it into my hdmi tv and all seemed well. Unfortunately my LGOG started to get very hot. I reverted to my old CM 4.4 with cm kernel and heat problem solved but alas no mhl output.

cm10.2 mhl works. Joy.
Edit: Recent developments suggest I was wrong regarding the 10.2 rom. I reinstalled it and it seems to be working fine. I cannot get my dvi monitor to work but my hdmi tv works great. So I must purchase an hdmi monitor in order to have my LGOG serve as my desktop PC.
My thanks to OMGMatrix for suggesting 10.2 as a solution.
@XDFernando, try the 10.2. I think you will find it easy to get along with.
CM11 now supports mhl
I upgraded from 10.2 to 11 last night and tried connecting to my hdtv and lo-an-behold it mirrored my LGOG, even rotated the view.
I have also not working
CM11 MHL Working
I'm pleased to announce that I have reached my goal of replacing my desktop computer with my LGOG. I use bluetooth mouse and keyboard and connect my LGOG to an $80 LED HDTV via MHL adapter. I was inspired by this blog http://www.livingdigitally.net/2012/02/using-a-mobile-device-as-a-desktop-computer.html. YouTube videos now play through MHL without a problem. My thanks to the CM11 post by shellnut. I'm using the latest CM11 nightlies with the gapps-kk-20140105 and 3.4.0-CM+ kernel. Pretty neat.
