How do I get another one of those plastic plug things for my prime to use for the charging port? I've had my prime for 3 days and lost it already :-(

If you mean the thing that you're supposed to take out and then leave in the box forever and forget about, then I don't think you'll ever get another one.
I still have mine and use it to keep particles away. Protecting the charging port is a good thing and imo doesn't hurt the look either. I actually have 3 from returning my previous Primes. Having that added protection is nice.

I use this, it has two usb ports and it works for both 101 and 201. Available at Amazon as Belkin Dual USB and AC Wall Charger

I have had issues in the past with devices getting the charging port fudged up like bent or broken and honestly when I saw the prime had I thought it was brilliant! Haha. Well if you left yours in the box and don't need it can I have it?
Seriously though. This is a real concern of mine. I think the dog ate it. LOL.

Lol, sir really? Why, do you think that thing is gonna safe your prime when you drop it? LOL.
USB port rubber plug
To be honest, I don't share your concerns and don't really intend to use mine so, if you are interested, PM me your mailing address and I'll send you mine.
Lol did this really warrant a whole thread? btw, Sugru would probably be a good solution to your problem. you can make new plugs whenever you want. Its a moldable silicon that drys at room temperature. Check it out!

That's funny I had an old blackberry cable and tried the same thing. For some reason it would not work for me. So Sunday night I ordered the one from Amazon. It came in today and no more triangle!
I even took it down to see the pin that wasn't soldered (#4). Still wouldn't work.

My original homemade one was just 3 100k and 1 1k 1/4w resisters twisted together in series. Shaped it like a horseshoe in side some tape with the two ends sticking out like 1/8 inch right next to each other but not touching. It was ugly but did the job. I have since ordered one for 2$ also.

Wow what a great 24 hours as far as the ICS and Camera updates. Its almost a new tablet.......
My issue is the following. I received my Prime last Thursday from Best Buy. No issues really other than.....GPS. I don't know what happened but I saw that down by the dock mounts on the left side that the metal piece that lays above the connection and secures the glass is missing or broke. I have no other broken pieces or anything. I am post img a pic yes for advice if I should send it back or not. I probably should but geez it just is getting good lol.

Omg lol send it back! Think about the resell value, dude
Yea, get it replaced.
If I'm looking at you're picture right then you are talking about the rubber pieces on either side of the dock connector?
Those need to come off to be able to use the dock.
There is a thin strip of metal right above the rubber pads and somehow that thin piece broke off. I'm getting an RMA. I was just being stupid.
Mr. Giggles: This based on many other threads I've seen you in. Why do you have to be such a jerk to everyone? Its easy to be mean but harder to be nice.
Thanks for the input.

Thin strip of plastic to be precise sir. I would be surprised if they actually replace this under RMA, it does kinda look like you were just a bit rough with it yourself.
Swear to goodness I didn't do a thing to it. I've had it since last Thursday. I guess it's form and the way things sort of roll under the bezel made me not notice it. I couldn't figure out why my screen was a little loose. Then I found this. I guess it is what it is. I got the RMA and spoke to Asus and told them about light bleed and GPS along with screen and crack. I'm just gonna hope for the best. However, no, I never dropped it.
Just found out Caseen just got these in, and they are hard to come by. I guess grab one or two if you want. I already bought two, but I may get another just to keep in my laptop bag.

Dear opentoe,
Thanks for your support again! And I can vouch that opentoe is NOT a rep, but just a very satisfied customer and fan. =)!
Anyway yes we just got those New Style ASUS Transformer Prime Chargers in stock, unfortunately the USB Kits are still out of stock.
Hopefully we should have them by Mid-February so check back soon.
TBH, ASUS is taking a long time to get them out... I think they are trying to sell docks, not USB adapters!!

I would prefer something like this with a mini or micro usb connector. I have too many of these cables and chargers. A shame they are become obsolete because if these proprietary adapters.

Keep in mind that this adapter is extremely low quality. To get it to work I recommend removing the part of plastic where the contacts are (because that part is too short) and also I read a report that it's even worse on Prime because the edge of the tablet is different than on the original Transformer (I have the original only).

This is true actually, we had a lot of returns on this product that we ended up test fitting the good "ones" and returning the rest. Then we found out that certain product cycles had better build quality.
I am almost 100% sure they are improving on this, as the the chargers kits are bit better quality. Looks like the manufacturer for ASUS is doing more quality control.

I have no problems with it. It stay secure enough for me to do what I need it to do. It's not an exact fit but still secure enough for the job. It works just fine. I'm able to connect my ext hd with no issues and watch movies from my ext had with no lag.
Really liking it so far.

Did you make it yourself? And how does the case 'holds' the tablet?
looks cool, is it home made ??
Nice work
Really like that, if I can get over my skittishness about defacing books (ex-librarian) I'm going to have a crack at that myself.
Good skills.
Yes, I made it myself. The tablet is held in with hefty duty velcro. I didn't really like this solution, but I was able to position the strips so that even when I take the tablet out, I don't feel the strips on the back when holding it normally.
As an English teacher, I also had a distaste of defacing books, but I managed to assuage this by going to a used book store and thus was safe in the knowledge that the book had lead a good life before I abused it.
After a few says of using it I am liking the case even more. In fact, I almost never take the tablet out (except to show people how it is attached) and I actually prefer holding it like this than naked as I do not fear dropping it.

Yeah. Half price books had a bunch of the series selling then individually. I looked at several boos of the right size, and that was the coolest they had.

That's not an ideal place to mount a tablet, I know. I'm playing around with different locations. The one good thing about dashboard/windshield mounting is that you can then use the forward camera. Bad obviously is that it is obstructive and distracting, and it will get direct sunlight at times.
Still, a good option to have in the console along with the smaller CD tray mount for the iPhone. Options, man. Options.
Very nice. Got other pics of the setup and car dock from different angle?

Got this one, its almost perfect, just a few things i dont like though
- it has its own charging connector,
it makes charging in your car a little troublesome because you have to take off gtab's case to attach it to the dock
- it depends on the car, but if you dont place it low enough could be blocking your view when driving,
im now ordering brodit's proclip, it mounts to ac vents, (but its different for each car, so youll have to order the dock based on the car)
i hope its a better alternative..
I got mine mounted right above the headunit it works great and no obstruction

This is the way I went, and I am very happy with it, but it may depend on the placement of your car vents. The top of my tab (including the camera) is slightly above the level of the dash, so taking video etc would be possible with my setup. Still have to remove the case, but I don't have a problem with that.

I got one for 6 $ from China on Ebay. Works pretty decent, the only drawback is the waiting time of 4 weeks...
