So I just flashed the MIUI Alpha 4 rom from the Development forums and was restoring everything from Titanium Backup when I ran into a problem. When I restored my system data it restored all of my messages as well (it says 700~, but I think it is more) and now I can't open the app. It just immediately force closes when I try. I have tried rebooting to no avail, so does anyone else have advice? And I know it is my fault for backing up my texts, they weren't important but I didn't think it would hurt.
Also, a little off topic from the rest of the post, but is there a way to restore all of my previously downloaded apps without going through each one individually and giving it permission to install? I have nearly 100 apps and its just annoying to go through each one haha.

I've put 026 on my phone twice now, with 2 seperate downloads (incase one was corrupt) but it always crashes apps, like timescape, the web browser, the market, even the uninstall app and many others...
Anyone else get this, or have a fix? I dont get it with 024, but would prefer to use 026 because it seems a little faster.
same thing happened to me after I stopped some of the apps from startup. that gave me about 180mb free though, but nearly all the apps were crashing, they were not force closing but simply vanishing. then I enabled everything while booting and everything was fine. so now am trying to stop one service or app one at a time to find which one of them is causing this.

Hmm i dont have any app killer installed though... but i did have one installed before flashing. But flashing would have completely removed it?
The very first time i started the phone after going to 026 i got this crashing, which happens exactly how it does with you.
nope, very first time I installed 026 everything was fine, only issue I had was when I used the app "my backup pro" to restore my messages, contacts etc, somehow my phone started sending messages again, the same ones that I already had sent in the last 4 months,I had to delete all the threads quickly or there were about 2000 messages which could have been sent.
then I started with the boot manager and disabled nearly everything, that's when vanishing of the apps started, nothing before that. but I guess its working fine now. am only disabling apps I installed, not touching anything I don't know, phone seems to be working fine.

I also experience this constant crashing of apps.

guys, try not to kill all the services, instead eliminate them one by one to find which one is crashing your phone. mine seems to be working fine now

Hi,
I just flashed Gingerbread 2.3.3 to my Eris. Everything works great until I restore my apps with Titanium Backup. After that's complete, I keep getting a Force Close on androis.process.acore Any idea what's causing this? Like I said, everything works great until I replace my old apps.
Thanks!
It seems like CM7 doesn't like Ti Backup. Some people have issues while others don't. I don't use it so that's ask the help I can give, just our quirky Eris

Just like the poster above me. It seems that TB is hit and miss when restoring apps in these CM7 roms. Generally I only use TB to delete "stock" apps that I don't want. You might be able to run logcat while trying to restore said app and see if it says anything during the force close. If you don't know how to run logcat just look for a tutorial on here to help you.

Thanks guys! I tried reflashing the ROM and reloading all my apps manualy, i.e. without Titanium Backup and it's working beautifully! I did use it for one app though because I needed all my data back with the app. As soon as the app was restored, I deleted TB. Still no issues. All is good!

if your last backup was on froyo and you were trying to go to GB then some people have reported TB issues. Many (including myself) have used TB after the initial GB flash to backup and restore without any issues.

when going from one OS version to another, don't restore data. Apps should be fine, but not app or system data; its been known to cause issues. There's even a setting in Ti that addresses this.

I was hoping some one could help me with this... For some reason after flashing bamf 1.7 remix i restored my apps with TB yet for some reason most of my apps are force closing and its driving me nuts. I don't want to have to download them all again that's why I have TB I've tried to run permissions but that didn't do anything either. I'm at my wits end here...any suggestions.

I find that if you restore system data stuff starts to FC a lot... You might try wiping data for individual apps and see if that helps...
I'll try it out. But I only restore the app plus data not the system data. Can't lose my saved game on plants vs zombies. Lol.

Amazon uses DRM in their apps. If you don't reinstall amazon, then they wont work as well.
I find it's hit or miss. Ran BAMF for a while and switched to cm a while ago, I've done restore w/system data(learned the painful way not to do that), app plus data, as well as only app. Sometimes things are well and sometimes they aren't.
My latest flash I decided to manually go thru and install my apps one by one just to see if that fixed anything...so far I still get fc's on a few programs depending on HOW i use them...ie Slacker thru bt car stereo while car home is running locks up A LOT. But its alright without car home running, for the most part anyways.
Guess what I'm saying is some apps just dont play nice with certain aspects of roms that we run, but that's the risk we take right, deal with it until bugs are worked out and be one big happy camper....thats my hope anyways heh
Well most of the apps that are force closing are games. Some downloaded from the amazon app store and some not.

I had a similar issue. After playing with VDD settings and a reboot on BAMF 1.7, I had a bunch of FC's and the ROM Setup started. I also saw a UID file system error. I found and fixed errors on the SDCard and performed a restore to 1.6.3 and then went back to 1.7. Everything seemed to be working except I had continuing FC's with Pandora. So, I did a complete Factory reset and everything has been working fine since.
I've tried everything I can think of or find in this subject but I can't figure it out.
I'm getting FCs all over and seemingly randomly.
There's no one program doing it either.
I've used cyanogen 7 7/17 version with glitch kernel (both 11 and 12) and the v3 kernel. Maybe the stock but I don't remember.
Also flashed the dl09 or which ever radio was recommended for cm7 on the ROM list sticky.
Tried the nighties and am on not the recent one but the one right before it with stock and glitch 11 and 12. Also tried before and after v6 super charger which seemed to make my launcher before faster and without the stopped responding dialog.
I also use the ultimate kernel removing script between kernels.
Here's what I've already done to try to fix it:
Wipe big 3. fives it for awhile then starts up in force.
Wiped to stock 2 or 3 times. Still happens.
Fixed permissions. Works longest so far but still starts up again later.
Wipe cache and data in manage applications settings menu for creasing programs. Works for a while usually but then goes
back to crashing.
I followed ask instructions to install everything properly.
The only thing is that
do I need a special bootloader with nighties and stock kernel?
What am I missing here? It seems like it's related to wifi because I can keep things stable a little longer with wifi off but it is not always 100%. Definitely related to internet. Also seems like the cache reaches 2-3 megs when programs crash
browser seems to be more likely to crash. Will crash constantly and I'll open up Firefox or opera wends everything is peachy. I think neither ox those browsers crash from what I can tell.
Oh and could it be gapps somehow. I'm not sure but it might be a case built that all the crashing programs are gapps.
I've tried the new version 2.2.5 I think posted somewhere and the original 2.2.3 I think. I'm pretty sure they both crash.
I'm maybe to frustrated to see what's right in front of me and I maybe have forgotten an important detail so please forgive and I'll be happy to provide any info.
This is near perfect and that's the thing that's holding me back right now.
Anyone else have this happen to them? Any advise?

How did you originally come to cm7..ie. What was your previous rom and kernel prior to making the switch?
What steps did you take to get to
mtd format?
And lastly I read your whole OP but am still unsure if you've tried Odin'ing a stock VZW official rom to start from scratch? (ie. Eb01,dl09, or ed05)
Edit: Also did you restore any apps or system data via titanium backup?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I've come to cm7 at least twice from a stock froyo ROM. I followed the directions in the sticky exactly. At least twice.
I did restore titanium but not from non-mtd. I reinstalled every app one by one after upgrading.
I'm thinking it might be the wrong gapps. If browser is a part of gapps, I'd betting on it then. It seems the fc's might all be related to
the various gapps.
That's the only thing that I can think if that I haven't tried.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
Here's the latest gapps.zip includes market...don't know if you've tried this oneand I don't think it contains anything for the browser, but i'm not sure...its for Mtd builds.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1191063
Edit: i'm also assuming you've ran fix permissions via cwm or terminal emulator right?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I'm making you assume a lot, sorry. Yeah. Did all that.
I'm trying to isolate it. I'm seeing that the force closings are maybe not so random.
It's the browser, google services framework and programs that I guess rely on browser. They are programs that access the http protocol. Reddit/f5, Chan browser etc. I've yet to have a program crash that was not accessing the internet like chuzzle.
Gmail does sometimes too.
Anyway, if they fc I go into manage applications and usually clear cache for the offending program Anne it works again until the cache gets up around 2 or 3 megs give or take.
I know people have been complaining about the data cutting in and out on this ROM so maybe that's involved.
I originally thought it was wifi because it seemed to only happen on wifi but i'm getting it on 3g but not as often.
I'm thinking that the data appears to be on but isn't and it's confusing programs but then there would be others with the problem. The other theory is that my cache space is fried.

In case someone finds this buried down here with the same issue, here's how I think I fixed it.
Wipe data again. Make sure you let the gapp installer install everything itself.
Titanium backup: restore missing apps (double check for went google apps) and data. Or hand install your apps and restore data.
I have the install location set to original.
That seemed to work even with the seeming wifi cut out and the whole thing.
I also didn't install Firefox or opera this time. That shouldn't be the problem but i'm recording it here anyway just in case.
Good luck

I can't post on the Liquid ROM page (been reading XDA for 1 1/2 years but never really post, only learn) otherwise I would ask there.
I downloaded the ROM ZIP file to my sd card. Wiped Cache and Davlik, then flashed the ROM. When it booted it "updated applications" and then opened. It seemed to have saved settings as my old wallpaper, widgets, and applications where in place on the homescreens. Did I not wipe system info or something I must have missed? Things mostly work with the rom, except I can not get mobil data to work at all. Yes I have read all the pages of the post, and realize many have issues with it. I have tried 3 sets of radios and they don't help. Currently I am running the radios from the .9 OTA which several here are using and working fine with the rom. MD5 sums check out fine.
Also Apps placed in my App Dock keep dissapearing, sometimes when I reboot, sometimes when the phone is active.
Further, it seems hard to scroll between screens, whether on home pages or in the app drawer. Maybe it is ICS (this is my first real experience with ICS), was looking for something in settings that would make scrolling easier but could not locate it.
Any help would be appreciated especially with the data..(WIFI works fine). I don't think it is the rom, my initial thoughts are why so many of my settings carried over from CM7....I have flashed many roms in the past, did I just space on a step?
guess I missed wiping system stats, thought all I saw was factory reset, I don't want to do a factory reset though correct? that would unroot...
You need to get 4ext recovery and use the wipe all except sd and then reflash the rom.
Sent from my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk 2
thanks, downloaded that the other day, just haven't used it yet. Will give that one a try....
Just installed and looked into 4ext and it gives me the following options:
Wipe Menu:
Stay inside...
Battery stats
Davlik
Cache
Data / factory reset
there is no option for wipe all but sd card. I have the newest version of 4ext v1.0.0.5 RC5 (not the one in testing)
Maybe try using apex launcher instead of the stock browser too. I found it to be a lot smoother than nova.

Why would my email mess up? I can't send mail from either the gmail or the email application. The gmail has a bunch of blank messages with 12/31/1969 as the date.
I really like it but if I have to how do I go back to stock?
Just uninstall apex.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
what is apex and will this help my email problems and how do i uninstall it?
I don't know if it will help the email problem. You can uninstall it from the app manager just like any app. I found if I restore gmail from a backup I get the blank messages. Try just downloading it from the market.

I have been running the MR2V7 rom and have trouble with a couple apps. My Ebay app says unfortunately it has to close. Then my Facebook app shows me the top blue banner and nothing but white screen below it. I have uninstalled and recovered from TiBu, which temporarily corrects the problems until I reboot my phone, in order to get data working again. Any ideas. Thanks in advance...
