I have the same question. Is there any way to unroot device?
thank you
worked great thanks.
if you are using a bootstrap recovery for bionic, do you have BP tools to boot into using vol+pwr? Hashcode modified koush's bootstrap for the 2nd-system safestrap for bionic/d3 probably wouldnt be too hard for him to port to razr. Also, is the root method used the same that dan rosenburg found? after that leaked ota bionic users lost root and couldnt exploit anymore. we made sure to use otarootkeeper because of the ext3
+1 thanks

I'm pretty experienced with unlocking Winmo 6.5 phones and running android non natively on them. But I've only had a Droid since Christmas and am not too experienced with these. I had rooted my phone to enable Wifi tethering but the new 2.3.6 has disabled my ability to root the phone. I understand that I may need to install a previous version of Droid and then do something before installing 2.3.6 but I keep reading about Nexus and OTA and have no idea what these are. So can someone walk me through this?
Absolutely! You more than likely need to restore back to a prev version using a fastboot file if you can't root 2.3.6. You have 2 options:
1 - Root the fastboot, use Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper to preserve root
2 - Use the root for 2.3.6 that is available.
Either way, feel free to PM me if you need a step by step. I've fastbooted 3 times now to try out different methods of restoring root.
If you have an xt912, didn't say in OP, I know that this works without fastbooting back to 2.3.5.

And if for some reason you wanted to unroot then doomlords unroot method still works.

When in doubt, google. Having come from a WinMo background as I did, you should be familiar with that.
XT910 & XT912 are the model numbers for the two RAZR variants, GSM & CDMA respectively. It doesn't matter which you have from a root perspective.
As above, there is a new root method called MotoFail, which will allow you to root 2.3.6 without downgrading. Use that. Problem solved.

No you should not use odin, that is for Samsung. Download the droid razr utility to fastboot to stock. Cm8 does not exist, but the stock image is around that file size. You can also use rsd lite to manually flash the image yourself.

kingadam, did you ever figure this out? I see that I am two months late on this thread, but I was curious as to what you ended up doing?
Recently Purchased the Bell Motorola Razr V.
Managed to Root it using this package:- (Below Download)
I am Not Responsible For your Device, Your Choosing To Do This!!!!
Instructions
1. Make sure in settings you allow (check) Non Market Apps
2. Make sure you turn on USB debugging. (developer Options)
3. Make sure you install the Motorola Drivers (32bit, 64bit)
4. Extract the Package into a folder on your Desktop.
5. Plug in your Phone
6. First double-Click Adb.exe
7. Then double click DroidRazrRoot404.bat
8. Sit back let it do its thing!!
Should notice it rebooting a couple of times.
After the Final boot you should notice the SuperUser App!!!
awesome thanks!
Now any idea how to install recovery?
I recently bought a bell razr v but mine lists its model as xt885 (system version is 673.135.80.xt885.bellmobility.end.ca).
Just wondering if there the same or similar enough to risk this root. I know the other model are xt889 and mt887 but can't find info on t866. Could you possible post some? Thanks.
Went high side maverick and tried it out and yay it worked. Thanks very much.

Thank you very much for this! Rooted Motorola RAZR V XT886 (Wind Mobile, Ontario) without a hitch! Less than 5 minutes spent!
Phone is crap tho, won't let me install anything to SD still If anyone might point me to an app that will actually fix this problem, I'd be grateful! It seems there is little mod support for this phone, letalone workarounds to any of it's quirks... It seems like this is one of those phones that tries to be a tablet, without the functionality...

Worked Like a Charm
Dec 13, 2013 - Worked like a charm on my XT912 AFTER I downloaded latest drivers from motorola and updated them on my PC. (wasn't working at first).
Try googling Matts Utility for Droid razr Jellybean. I would post the link but I'm not allowed to yet. It's a one click, easy method of rooting and restoring your phone if it breaks.
I also used Matt's utility. It was very user friendly.
