Just thought I would post this since Bin4ry's recovery image was getting out of date...
DO NOT FLASH THIS - if you do, your phone will explode in your face!
to use:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img

Your welcome
I also edited the keylayout in my CM sources for recovery so that we can use the four hardware buttons efficiently, back button = back, home button = up, menu button = down, search button = select.
I did this because on the new CWM the layout is all messed up for our device

No it's not possible to flash as the Xperia range does not have a recovery partition, which is where you usually flash the ClockMod Recovery to
Could you possibly update this to the newest CWM?
i will try to update it, as it is not that hard to do
CWM Version 5.5.0.4 by FreeXperia Team
Instructions:
Code:
- In Fastboot mode type in terminal: fastboot boot recovery2.img
- Spam volume up and down button
Download: Recovery
Tried on my terminal with unlocked bootloader. If someone with a locked one can give a feedback it would be great.
6.0.0.6 is out, but won't work for me.
6.0.1.0 is already out
i am using it with the jelly bean kernel
call me a noob but why should i not flash these recovery imgs again?

Hi,
About an week ago I bought the Vodafone Smart II, first thing I did was rooting it, so I can remove the apps Vodafone send with it.
After that I saw there was an update. Without thinking I did the update and after that I had no recovery anymore. Goes straight to "Are you sure you wanna delete all files and reformat?" *Not the real message, but something like that.
After searching here I foud a recovery for my device, but after flashing it, there was a new problem. The touch buttons aren't working anymore in the recovery.
Volume buttons are working well for scrolling through the menu items, but I can't select when with the touch home button.
Anyone knows what to do or try?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my grammar

Use this recovery and flash it with fastboot

If it doesn't work, flash the system.img, custpack.img and data.img of an original Stock rom, and after that do the update 2 (it will fix the touch buttons)
To regain the recovery and root in Update 2 simply use "fastboot reboot recovery" in adb and inside the recovery do the "update.zip" trick to root it
Thnx

fastboot problem
Hi guys,
I am noob not only here in XDA developers but also on Android tweaking, so excuse me if I mess up with terminology.
What I wanted to do is to provide superuser permissions to my device but before that I decided to do some "warm up".
After performing a "reset to defaults" I updated to ΟΤΑ 2.3.7 update 5 and I messed up the bootloader and fastboot functionality, as the OP stated.
From now on, on rebooting and trying to enter recovery (power and +vol) I get the 1st attached screenshot.
I successfully got into recovery menu through pc command line tool (adb reboot recovery), see 2nd screenshot attached. Adb tool works fine, whatever I try using fastboot tool from my pc seems to fail.
Without this I am unable to flash a different recovery on my device, right?
Am I missing something?
Thanks, in advance for any further info.
I am at your disposal for any further detail I could provide.
Does not work for me. The cmd screen just flashes, I could not even read what it shows.
My son has Samsung Europa. He has locked his phone and cannot remember his password. I have tried to get into recovery to hard reset it but I cannot. I can get into download mode only? I've tried volume up, power, home. Ect. Nothing works.
Can someone tell me the correct procedure please

The europa doesn't have a hardware key combination to get into recovery.
You can use adb to get into recovery.
If you have android sdk installed. Open the command prompt and type "adb reboot recovery" without quotes.
Or you can download any other custom recovery like cwm and flash it in Odin.

If you flash cwm recovery us using odin it automatically boots into recovery.
If your on cyanogenmod or any other cm derived rom it'll have an option to reboot into recovery in the power menu.

If you want to reboot recovery from a stock rom or any rom with no recovery reboot option just root the phone and install the terminal app. Then open the terminal and type the following:
su (then hit enter/return on keyboard to get superuser)
reboot recovery (type that and hit enter/return again and the phone will reboot into recovery)
thanks
10x a bunch. you saved me thanks again everyone.
What is the terminal/adb command to go in the recovery directly ?
Code:
reboot recovery
doesnt seem to work ...
I am using pvypart's recovery ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437840
pvyparts app and serjar's system UI allow you to go to recovery directly so I believe there must be a terminal command too .

From the pc you can type
Code:
adb reboot recovery
This won't work on phone, because it would start an adb server on phone, so I don't know about the command on phone
Hmm
Doesnt seem to work
adb reboot recovery just reboots the phone ..
Hi
Did you previously install a recovery??
If not, try X-parts.
Hi
I can boot into recovery if I repeatedly press volume down at boot
Or I can access the recovery using x-parts or server's framework...
I need the terminal or adb command.

You mean you can't boot in it or you can? By pressing volume down again and again? Reinstall the recovery, it must work. On which software version are you?

Can you reboot into recovery from your hardware with out hitting the vol rocker? So on my hardware (ST18i) I can long press power select reboot and then I have the option for reboot or recovery. When this is set up correctly, selecting recovery will automatically reboot the device into recovery with out having to hit vol dwn...when it is not set up correctly it will reboot normally...so if you want recovery you have to hit vol dwn. Mine is currently not set up correctly...and when I try adb reboot recovery it behaves exactly like yours....just reboots with out going to recovery.
AFAIK the problem for the reboot to recovery from the hardware is in the ramdisk (not sure about from adb) so maybe try another kernel.....
My phone is locked ...
I tried both recoveries available with x-parts ...
The phone boots the recovery woth the modified framework(Hold the power button)
But I wanted the adb commands for a batch script ..
Anyway Thanks for your replies
Hello, I've been trying to install custom rom on my xperia sola but I don't sure how and I don't wanna brick my phone, some people told me to try ROM Manager or X-Parts but in both app's it says that xperia sola is not supported.
Some told me to use flashtool and flash the boot.img but when I downloaded the pure blood rom(that's what I wanna use) there is only META-INF and system folders and no boot.img file, I've searched for some tutorials with good explanations for xperia sola but I haven't found any.
Can someone please give me a good tutorial or explain to me in detail how to install a custom rom? I have rooted and unlocked my bootloader, yet im not quite sure how to enter my recovery....
Thanks for the help!

And is there any way to make sure my CWM is installed correctly like root cheker or something?
I didn't saw you added a link to CWM, I'll check it and see if I manage to do it, thanks.
To reboot into CWM, turn off the phone. Then press the power button till phone starts booting > Then keep pressing (repeatedly) the Volume Down button till CWM loads

Did you unlock your bootloader? If your bootloader is locked the only thing is flash only ROM for locked bootloader.
For example - you install munjenis CWM, you download ROM for locked bootloader (no CyanogenMod), place ROM on your phone memory, switch off the phone, switch on the phone, on logo pressing many times vol +, enter CWM and choose Install zip.
Thats it.

I tryed to install both Pure blood and Ultimate sola roms, same problem with both.
I can't post links yet, write in youtube "How to Load a Custom ROM on an Android Device " and go to the third video(for me anyway) by MobileUnlimited, that's what I used, I backed up all the data, wiped out data/factory reset, then install zip from sdcard(which btw goes to my internal storage and not my sdcard), then reboot system now.
And I used the CWM you gave me in post #12.
Thanks.
Edit - well, I didn't notice that, but the CWM you gave me is by "munjeni", and in the pure blood post it says: "2. FLASH CWM V5 for unlocked bootloaders... dont use any other...munjeni's "memory tweak + owerclock 1.15 ghz WILL GIVE BOOTLOOP.. and for locked bootloaders used the CWM is available for locked BL stock rom."
Can you give me another .54 CWM?
