Is there a way to temporarily disable the market, or delete it, on a P7500 running 3.2 update? Tried deleting it through root explorer but it's there after a reboot and droidwall doesn't work either.
Have you tried to freeze it with Titanium?
I can only freeze it with donate version. I have the free one
delete the data for it, fc it, then delete vending.apk and market.apk (actually rename the .apk to .old or something...make sure you rename vending and market.

Of course I won't. Just checking the compatibility of some apps. The hacked versions won't install because they check with the market! Afterwards I shall delete them and install legal versions. Thanks for the answers!

I don't think so... it could consult with Vending.apk about the license status, which would fail because there would be no account present. Removing it would prevent it from saying not authorized -- though the API for it might stop it anyway if it can't find the market.

I was updated to the new market yesterday and today saw that Titanium had an update. Clicking on it opens screen that only allows for the app to be opened or uninstalled. I don't see any option to update.
How do we update with the new market?

I had the same problem when my market auto upgraded. I think what happens is that the market account gets screwed up and it doesn't allow you to update some things. Its fixable - you have to reregister your phone with the market. The bad news is the only way I could figure to do this was to clean wipe and start over. I suppose you could factory reset to. I bet there's an easier route - but I haven't found it.

In es explorer, long press on the file and select properties. They'll be a button there to change permissions

Sorry, I phrased that incorrectly. I know how to get in there & change the permissions. What I was wondering is how they need to be set. Is it RW-R--R--? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just don't have to do this very often & want to make sure I do it correctly.

This worked for me! Thanks guys for the clarification on setting permissions.
I thought I had this issue fixed, but it has resurfaced. I have the market telling me there is now an update for Handcent SMS, however it doesn't give me the option to update! I can only open or uninstall.
I tried the fix starflorida posted multiple times, but it just isn't doing the trick. Does anyone have an idea what's going on? Any suggestions or feedback?
There is a new version of the market rolling out today. Try clearing data and restarting market and see if that helps?

I was hoping to avoid that, just so i don't have to re-enter all of my info. But, if I can't get it straightened out, I'll give that a go.
I now have 2 apps sitting there waiting for an update that I can't complete: Handcent & Unlock with Wifi. If I click the app individually, I only get the choices of opening or uninstalling. However, if I click the button that says "Update 2", it looks like it will work! I don't get it.
Edit: I am currently getting the "Low on Space" message from my phone (I prefer not to put my apps on the SD card, if possible). Could this be the reason why I can't update my apps?
Clearing the market data seems to have worked as a temporary fix. It is no longer showing that I need to update any of my apps. However, I did not receive the latest market version. It is still the same version I had prior to clearing data, version 3.0.27

OK, to be honest. I am no the fan of the new version of android market. I tried to go back by using Titanium,well it was working but it keeps auto updating, er.... which makes me frustrated!

On a related note, it does cause one to wonder why the new Market version sucks so bad. I experience tons of problems with it, while the old one runs well.

Probably not, since they didn't launch any update to fix the issues. Guess they only changed the layout and screwed everything else. Probably they think it's all about the eye-candy.

Updated opensignal maps just fine. I'm noticing that some of my apps show as not installed, but when I click on them it just says open, the left option of download isn't there. I have seen that in the last version, and it has persisted to this one. Market fix with TB doesn't help.
Edit: market tools did fix it this time.

Quick question, just to double check in my /system/app the market is labled "Android_Market_v3.1.6.apk" do I rename this file "Android_Market_v3.2.0.apk" then replace the v3.1.6? I can't find a "Vending.apk". Sorry for the noob question as I am still learning Android. Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure I guess you should just replace it for me its named Vending.apk. What rom are you using?

I've installed it by putting the apk into system/app changing the permissions, rebooting, and then installing with root browser from system/app. The thing is that it says that there's some kind of network issue, but I read somewhere that its because Samsung blocked its servers. And they say that there's a lot of stuff it can do that vlingo can't plus it talks back like siri

The network error issue is because it looks for I9300 string, which is specific to Galaxy S3 (they are not making it easy for everyone)
Here is the link to the modified apk which already modify within the apk to pass the I9300 back to vlingo network: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664785
download the "Modified APK" to your SD card then uninstall the previous version before install the new one.
Just install like any other normal apk. Hope this work for you

By the way I think this transparent market is cleaner and nicer than the other transparent market but that's just my opinion.

It won't install through CWM but if you read my instructions I said to extract the Vending.apk and Place it in system/app but delete any market apk thats in that folder before you put the vending apk in the folder. Then reboot and it will work.
I attached screenshots to show it works. Repeat it will not install trough CMW on the Note.
Didn't work for me either. Removed phonesky app, extracted and moved vending app to system apps, rebooted......no play store in apps. Another bonus is when I tried to reverse everything my original play store fc's as soon as I open it.

I am not sure why its not working for you. If you extract the Vending.apk and rename it to Phonesky.apk it should work if you move it to system/app and reboot. It worked for me the first time I tried.

No your wrong. Vending.apk is for Gingerbread. This is a link to the last page of the thread that this came from and if you read it it will say you have to change it from Vending.apk to Phonesky.apk for it to work after rebooting on ICS. Before you say something you are totally wrong about you could have just googled "Phonesky.apk" and anywhere you look on any site about Vending.apk it will tell you to rename it to Phonesky.apk cause it is ICS standard. Yes its the same app but if you put Vending.apk in system/app it will mot work on ICS unless you change the name to Phonesky.apk.

This happened to pendo and me and him discussed this so I have a very good idea ofbwhats going on and its more than the name. Plus pendo is friends wit pauldiddy so. Not sure why its not working. I put Vending.apk in the system/app folder rebooted and it worked. I would have never made this thread if I had not tried it myself and made sure it worked. I hope you can get it to work. It says its multi dpi and I am using 240 dpi and it just works.

What do you have your dpi set to? I am thinking this does not work on certain dpt settings.
