[Q] USB mode? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Most other android devices i know of you can plug em in with a USB cable and it shows up on the computer like a USB memory stick. Thus far with every setting i try the prime shows up as like a camera or MTP device or whatever, makes it a pain to transfer files and it blocks some system files.
Am i missing something here or is there a way to make the prime just show up as a USB memory stick on my computer?

Have you installed the USB driver from ASUS?

Mine shows up as an MTP device but also shows the drives and they are drag and drop accesible.

[Q] TF101 Media Device(MTP) or USB Mass Storage Device

Hi All,
I have a rooted TF101 (ICS)
Android V:4.0.3
Kernel:2.6.39.4
I have an interesting issue. I noticed whenever I connect my TF101 it always connects to pc as Media Device, However I wanted it to connect as USB Mass Storage device so that it could have a drive letter associated with it.
When I searched on the device I see that at following location
Settings>Storage
Click on the bar at the top right, it shows another option
USB Computer connection
Click on that
It shows a pre selected option Media Device(MTP), I tried to uncheck it but seems like there have to be one selection on this page that needs selection. I was wondering if somehow both selections are unchecked then it would allow the device to connect as USB Mass Storage? any light on this?
thanks

[Q] Suddenly Can't Browse in Windows Explorer?

Hi
In the past week or so my HP TouchPad running CM9 has suddenly stopped being browsable in Windows Explorer. The cm_tenderloin device appears in the list of drives, but clicking reveals a white screen. MTP is selected on the Storage > USB computer connection screen.
Curiously, in the same time, my HTC HD7 has stopped syncing with Zune, so I suspect this is a USB related issue - can anyone point me in the right direction?
Try connecting while in webos with your USB if that doesn't work it would sound like there is a problem with the USB socket on your PC have you tried another socket on your PC or a different PC sometimes my laptop has a hissy fit and I have to use a different socket with hard drives etc . I would suggest doing that before worrying that your tablet has faulty socket.

I'm beginning to think that the issue is with Windows 7, tbh. Multiple cables and different ports have been tried, all to no avail. Something has corrupted the OS, I think. No viruses or malware are being detected, so I'm going to fall back on a reinstall (I keep my data off the system drive, so no biggy)
you can always connect over the network and browse everything on your device that way. i like es file explorer. just put the thouchpad in ftp mode then connect to it from the computer. also if you know how to use ./adb connections you can move files to and from the touchpad and browse the entire device that way.

[Q] USB Storage not supported/Working?

So i just picked up one of these PNY 16Gb Micro USB OTG flash drives.. Tested it out on my Nvidia Shield, which works great.. Then I go to pop it into my Nexus 9 and basically nothing happens. It fails to give any notification in any form, the storage menu in settings fails to see the device. I used all of the top 5 File managers, but none of them show that the device even exists.
**EDIT** I just got home and tried all of my flash drives I have connected via USB OTG, (4Gb-128Gb) NONE OF THEM are recognized! Is there a setting somewhere I am missing, or are others having this problem too?
My nexus 9 is rooted and running the latest Elementalx 0.08 Kernel.
Any help for a work around or potential fix would be most appreciated
I tried both a USB Keyboard, and mouse. Again they work perfectly. So it appears it only relates to USB mass storage?
I'm able to connect my phone to the nexus 9 and it's able to read it.
I bought a micro usb y cable. So I can charge it while having it connected to a hub. But it doesn't charge at all.

I just connected mine, the phone goes into mass storage mode and starts charging.. The Nexus 9 basically doesn't do a damn thing. Check 3 different file managers and none of them show any removable storage.
Can you plug in a standard USB stick with the Cable, and it will work?

Use Es file explorer, it will recognise it within the app on local. If you are root stickmount will also work by mounting the drive as a folder.

Debug USB

Hi, when I connect my Poco with USB cable to my computer the installation of the drivers are ok, windows found the device.
But when i open it the Poco's window is completely white and empty: no files, no folders...there is not the SD card...
I would like to transfer flies from pc to phone by USB connection but it seems impossibile!!
The error message is: "the device has stopped responding or has been disconnected"
P.S.
Debus USB activate, windows 7
Did you change USB connection mode from charging to transfer files? You know, after tapping on notification appearing after USB connection?
Another issue (encountered by me), even with correct connection mode, Pocophone device in Windows 10 (maybe in Windows 7 is the same) remains empty if connected thru an additional USB3 hub. Direct connection to one of USB ports in PC case works flawlessly.

Don't know why...but works!!
Thank You so much!! :good:

Difficulty enabling USB data transfer on Android 12 tablet

I just bought a Lazmin112 FHD 1920x1080, 32GB , 7inch Android 12 tablet although it appears to be some kind of wholesale thing that's available from literally dozens of different retailers. If it helps it shows up as a Model number P50 under About tablet.
This is my first exposure to Android 12 so I'm not sure whether I'm seeing differences in Android 12 from Android 11 or if the differences are specific to this tablet.
The bottom line is that I can't connect to the device via usb, the PC can't see the usb data space nor does adb list any devices attached.
I've enabled Developer options but many of the controls I'm familiar with are not present. I've enabled USB debugging but there is no default USB usage setting or any other USB related setting other than USB debugging.
The documentation, such as it exists, merely says "USB just only be used for data transmission".
Does anyone have any kind of clue as to how to deal with this?
You could try swiping down to get to the notifications area and tap on the "Connected as media device" notification and then changing it to PTP mode. That sometimes works for USB debugging.
There are various reasons why your Android device is not able to transfer data. Though Android File Transfer is an effective application for transferring data, the restrictions limit the activities. Mac doesn't support media transfer protocol (MTP) for transferring files from Android to Mac. So, it is essential to install Android File Transfer on your Mac to transfer files from Android to Mac. When Android File Transfer could not connect to the device, you might find that Android File Transfer is not working properly.
Here are the common reasons leading to unresponsive Android File Transfer on your Mac:
The file transfer feature is not enabled on your Android mobile/tablet.
Your USB cable is defective.
Your Android device or Mac computer is not compatible with Android File Transfer.
Your Mac's USB port got damaged.
You have installed Samsung Kies or Samsung Smart Switch on your Mac.

J Wick
Thanks for the input.
As it turned out I was using the cable that came with the tablet and apparently it's either damaged or more likely it's a charging only cable because as soon as I used another cable I did finally get the connected as media device notification and was able to view the file structure from the PC.
Thanks again.
