I've used the search thread tool and cann't get anything for my situation. Ok, here goes.I need help unlocking my brother's (locked to Sprint) Motorola Photon 4g (MB855) unlocked. The contract is in the midst of being cancelled. Here are my circumstances, I am not using the bootloader method, and for some reason, When i turn on the phone with a supposed "unaccepted SIM", the "enter subsidy code" menu does not pop up. I've already tried 2 different simcards, a simple mobile sim and a verizon sim. It is acting like it already can accept the sim, but, I know its locked because I program a simple mobile APN and it doesnt work, no data, no signal, no network. Could it be because the Mopho is acting as a CDMA when its a GSM phone? I was wondering what the heck i needa do, I already have the unlock code.. I've been trying to look for dialer codes to somehow bring up this hidden menu, or unhide the menus. I can't resort to bootloader method because he does not want anything touched (flashed, etc) period. I am getting anguished and stressed. ANY guidance would be most a apreciated! Thnx so much, from a noob,
Jezz
The radio is locked, you can't use the photon on any u.s. based gsm carrier.

Unlocking the bootloader will not allow you to use u.s. based gsm carriers. Currently there is no way to do this. Also, the link two posts up, currently sends the photon into a bootloop, i would not recommend flashing it at this time until more development occurs.

thnak God I haven't flashed yet. The thing i dont understand is why would a company give me a network unlock code if we can do it yet. grr, should i just save it? get my money back? will flashing a aftermarket ROM allow me to reach hidden menus or give me hopes of something? Thnx homie. Wish me luck on breaking the news to my brother, itll surely ruin his valentine's day lol

If you can get your money back, more power to you. Unfortunately, all the flashing in the world right now will not unlock the radio. Flashing a ROM will give you other benefits, such as new features, better battery life, and better performance, but will not allow you to use the phone on any US based gsm carrier.
Break it to him gently, maybe over a candlelight dinner with one of those heart shaped pizzas.

is there a way to unlock this device from AT&T carier to any GSM without buying a code from the offered sites??? maybe some playing with the boot or something...
As of yet I don't think there has been anything on this method of unlocking. There is another thread here about unlocking the phone, but I can't link it right now. Pretty much all I can say is wait and see what happens. I think we might be stuck for the next couple months untilled at&t decides they want to let us unlock the phone.

Did his $10 code work or did you have to use the upgraded, more expensive service? Thanks a lot. I'm currently having all sorts of issues trying to unlock my phone from eBay.
The $10 code worked right off the bat. I paid for the item, and got the code in my email in 10 minutes. Plugged in a decrepit SIM from my trip to Singapore, and the phone came up with the SIM unlock prompt. The code was accepted with no issues.

Ah, thanks. I guess mine is just in that 1% that cannot be found in the normal database. Guess my only option is to pay for the expensive unlock... bah.
What Excatly does unlocking the HTC Aria do?
What does buying this unlock code do for the HTC Aria, what benifits would a user gain from this? Would i be able to change my boot screen, cause i would love to do that
It'll allow you to use the phone on a non-AT&T network. I'm trying to get mine on T-Mobile, to be specific.
@chaley80 - What you're looking for is referred to as "rooting" the phone. Basically, you need to have superuser access to the phone, to allow you to modify things like the boot animations. There are instructions on here. Its very easy with Revoked. All this type of unlocking does, is what shirleeey said, just allow you to use it on foreign GSM cell networks.
after a few months you can call up at&t and ask them for the unlock code, they have to give it to you

That's true if you are an AT&T customer, but if you're like me, I've never had my Aria on the AT&T network so I had to Sim unlock it as soon as I got it, over a year ago Cheers.
Going along with unlocking it, would it be possible to use the Aria SIM free? E.G. with just the basic functions, no cell radio, but it should still be able to connect to your home wi-fi. Almost like an android ipod touch in a sense. I think that'd be pretty cool.

Just turn the phone on without a SIM card inside it.
If you're on a stock ROM it'll need to be activated with one first.
Then after it's activated you can leave the SIM out as long as you don't wipe data/factory reset
Let me rephrase that slightly, would there be any way to get rid of the "insert SIM" message?
@WinSuk: I'm running CM7. (Going to try your CM9 as soon as headphones work. Excellent job BTW )
I knew that I could take out my SIM card and my phone would still work, just wasn't sure to what extent. I figured there was something I would have to flash or other.
Thanks for your time,

It's chill. I see; I did do some browsing around, but there was no specific way to hide the message... at least none that I could find.
I'll be getting a new phone in a few months, but still wanted to keep my Aria to mess around with, hence my question.

I bought a Motorola Photon, and if possible, I'd like to get it running on Boost Mobile. I really need some guidance on what to do. From scanning the forums for other phones, it seems I need to do more than root it--I need to unlock it. Do you I need to use something like Pudding? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216143)
I realize at this point that I would not be able to use 4g with Boost.
Any help and suggestions are appreciated.

Doesn't boost carry the other Motorola phone like the Photon? Starts with an E. I can't remember what it's called at the moment though.

Electrify.....Not sure if Boost DOES have it. But figured I'd put that possibility out there. If they don't, Sorry!
No, they don't. Check out Boostmobile.com to see the phones they carry.

Thanks everyone for your input. Thanks especially to shabbypenguin for the information.
This can be done with most htc and samsung phones, but [modern] motorola phones are nearly, if not completely, impossible.
there is a big dif between rooting and unlocking the bootloader vs unlocking the phone for dif carrier use. u would have to unlock the spl to use it on a dif carrier. good luck with that. might as well get a new phone.
That is what everyone has been saying. It's near impossible.

This doesn't make any sense. You want to move your photon over to Boost? Why?
If you bought on a new/upgrade contract price, you are already in the contract and can use it on Sprint. Why would you move it to a network that won't support it (officially anyway) and also won't support the Photon's 4G?
If you bought out of contract, you paid a high (full) price for it. Why would you bring it to a network with crappier speeds than sprint and doesn't support your phone's 4G. You would have been better off buying a Boost phone on contract.
In addition, methods to enable your photon to work on Boost can cause issues like SMS or MMS not working or not working reliably. Basically, its not worth the trouble and I can't understand why anyone would want to do it. If you want to use Boost's network so much, why not save yourself the hassle and just get a phone from them and officially supported by them.
Some people don't think or look at the bigger picture I s'pose.

its all good and some of what you say is tru but i personally rather take the one time hit of the full price phone versus the long lasting spendy contract! and far as speeds the spped that is different on the boost to sprint conversions is 4G which does not work at all as boost only supports 3g and iden but spped wise boost cdma and sprint cdma is the same in one! the diiference is in the handset
as you can run a boost phone like a incognito or prevail and they get 3g but you can take a sprint phone such as my baby V950 renegade which supports EVDO revA and the sppeds double at least. its in the cheap handsets where they slow you down if you dont believe me run the slowest of them all the motorola bali or mirro and speedtest dslreports.com/mspeed and then same line same area test any sprint hanset that you can activate on boost legally threw customer service and you will see the spped double instanly as they are built to be faster clearer and handle more data. thats why i rocked the sprint OOOG V3m RED EDITION for almost 2yrs shortly after it came out! and that was when boost mobile cdma was only in 13 test states either way to each his/her own i'm still tring to figure mine out but i'm close to quiting
Hell, Id love to see this on BoostMobile as well!
That or the GSM unlocked for TMobile/SimpleMobile (yes I am aware 4G and HSPA+ wont work, IDGAFRA, thats i dont give a flying rats arse)...
Sprint can blow me, At work and home and (when I was attending) school I had to use my Airave or WiFi, almost no service where I specifically was at, and I am sorry, but if you cant serve my home with even simple Voice/Data, I am not going to pay you an extra $10 a month for service I dont get, and before the "get another phone" nimrods chime in, I want the hardware on the Photon, there isnt another exactly like it at the moment (even the Atrix 2 falls short, and ill die before I use AT&T)...
Not only that but the last person I talked to in retentions leveled with me and we came to the agreement that Sprint is just trying to bleed customers dry by double charging for hardware (after-all, thats exactly what they are doing), its too bad he wouldn't consent to being recorded
BUT I left sprint after 5 years, convinced my parents of 7 years, and a few friends/extended family, and a few school friends/members as well (I helped them pick out and setup/tweak/config their new phones on other carriers, small price to pay to stick it to Sprint, 20~ customers might be a drop in the bucket to them, but dammit its my drop in the bucket! I hope the bottom rusts out!!!), so I am happy!
Using my HD2 right now, wanted the Photon, but until it gets BoostMobile (yeah, underling of Sprint i know, irony present), or an up-to-date cricket or Tmobile/SimpleMobile ability, I am stuck with mah HD2

After researching this for a friend, some months ago. This is what I found, from other sites. I have no personal experience, just reporting others experiences.
"What works is to call Boost Customer Service and Play Dumb. Don't volunteer information. Tell them for example, that you/your kids broke your phone and someone gave you their old one. Give them the ESN and if they ask you what sort of phone Play Dumb and tell them you don't know "Um its a clamshell with a keyboard?" If they tell you it can't be activated, thank them and hang up. Keep trying, you will eventually get an operator who will swap it in for you."
"Alright guys this is my first post to help you guys out. I just "migrated" my sprint number to a boost Mirro I bought at wal mart. I set up service of course first and for most. Then called the boost customer care line... You'll have to log into your boost account... go to support and contact customer care... The 800 number is at the bottom of the screen left hand corner. You'll have to of course call the number from a different phone than the one on your account. At that time when you call and enter in all the info the automated system asks for make sure you let them know that your calling to report a lost/damaged/stolen phone. It will ask you to enter in the hex esn id... you'll have to do this a couple times... Then the automated system will "give up" and put you on the line with a human. I told them my phone kept resetting and that I bought another, and verified the esn number from phone I wanted active on the account (touch pro), as well told the csr that this was the same style phone I had. No questions asked he got it activated, I did a hard reset on my phone, and then went in and hit update profile... (Not sure if I had to do the hard reset... but that's what active sync is for) All working just fine... Just thought I'd try and help."
Good Luck.

People just blur out that its illegal without any proof.

Last few days I've been reading and searching the forum up and down, to find some useful info about how to bypass network lock.... so far I'm even more confused than I was before.
The problem: my phone is locked to specific network and doesn't work with sim card from another provider. Is it possible to unlock it so I can use it on other networks?
Is it solvable? Does rooting help?
I've read a few threads about s-off, is that the thing I need ?
Thanks to the guys willing to help.
This might help?

Just ask around your area where you live and you'll find someone to sim unlock your phone (if not then try local market) or you could even buy the unlock code and do it yourself

guys, buying code is probably the last thing I'll do...
First of all I'm new in android but I'm curious more than enough, and I want to learn things... It would be great if senior or more experienced members share their thoughts on what's right and what's wrong and eventually save me a lot of time and nerves. It's funny how there are so few threads about unlocking network ? Perhaps because it's the fastest way to make good money for some ppl ?
I do have experience in maintenance of Linux systems, but I have no previous experience in rooting/unlocking or what so ever related to smart phones.
So ..... It would be great if any senior/experienced members shared their knowledge/experience on this subject (how to unlock phone so it can be used on different providers.)
As far as I can see Hasoon2000 AIO kit makes rooting as simple as it can get.... but will that remove network lock? I don't need to install any other access privileged apps, demanding games.....
ahhhhmmm..... :

Why don't you read a thread or two in the General forum, come back and tell us what you've learned?
Hint: you can't "unlock" it. There's a bootloader exploit for a limited number of phones with a very specific firmware revision, unless you have a Developer's Edition.

Why don't you read a thread or two in the General forum, come back and tell us what you've learned?
Hint: you can't "unlock" it. There's a bootloader exploit for a limited number of phones with a very specific firmware revision, unless you have a Developer's Edition.

I don't understand how the lack of responses could be "killing you", I mean, seriously?
Hint #1: THE I545 is not sim locked. You insert the T-Mobile SIM, configure the APN, and it'll work.
Hint #2: There's a "Search this forum" box. Type T-Mobile. You'll find the answers you seek by reading those threads.
Its killing me because i really want to use this phone. I tried entering my sim and apn stuff but nothing works.
I even called Tmobile and they said the sim card is fine, it could be Verizon blocking it. Which can be true because the first time I put in my sim, it was working and showed as tmobile but now it doesnt.
So should I flash a rom, would it work if i flash a Tmobile rom?
If I should flash a rom, do you have any for my model?

No, you can't flash a T-Mobile ROM. You really need to read this sticky thread to help understand what's possible.
As I said, there's lots of threads providing directions for getting the i545 running on T-Mobile. You can find them easily.. there is no need for yet another thread about this.
Hm, I have been reading the threads. But all of them had a point where there phone can make calls and what not but just couldn't go on the internet. Mine can't do anything, I don't really see anyone posting anything about it.
My sim card works with everything else, its just this phone which is making me go asjdhasldkhlasdhk
If I'm not mistaken if the phone was paid off properly and is free from a contract then you should be able to walk into VZW and have them carrier unlock it for you. If he didn't pay off the phone then it's technically a phone with a bad esn and the first part of this post needs to be fulfilled.
Is there anyway where I can force Unlock it? He moved so I can't really go to him and ask him anything since he lives in China now.
Is there anyway I can get rid of the bad IMEI or ESN number? I heard flashing it to like HyperDrive can help.
Legality?

I actually believe this is illegal no?
Anyway, look into registering new APNs to your phone, the VZW GS4 SIM is already unlocked across carriers.

NO. No, not right, NO. Wrong. Incorrect. Invalid. Incorrect. Input rejected.
Do I make myself clear?
I'm getting tired of repeating this, but THE SCH-I545 IS NOT SIM LOCKED. It is not locked. It does not need to be unlocked. What you are saying is wrong, incorrect, invalid, unnecessary. You don't need to unlock. You get it always unlocked. You don't need to unlock it. Nobody needs to do anything to unlock it. It's not locked.
Do you get my drift yet?
The Federal Communications Commission required that carriers getting access to the 4G spectrum not lock their phones, so phones like the VZ Galaxy S4 are not SIM locked. Any carrier's SIM will work.
Comments like yours send people down a time-wasting path. It isn't locked. Why spend time unlocking it?
Finally found a Company who can sim unlock our Note 3 so that it can be used on ATT tmobile or any other US Carrier!!!!
Just go on Facebook and search for Nocturnal Wireless... They are based out of Florida!

This is what their page say:
When getting your device serviced remotely, please make sure to have a decent computer, stable internet (do not tether off of your phone), and the same quality cable that came with the phone, that plugs your phone into your computer. Our service is 100% guaranteed, however, if the job is unable to be completed due to not meeting the minimum requirements, a refund will not be issued. Thank you
It sounds like the remote in to your PC and use it to unlock the phone. I'd be careful about who do i let to connect to my computer
The Sprint Note 3 is different.. You can't Sim Unlock this device with a code... I've used remote Services before with success and this company is not exception

Sprint has never ever ever been able to unlock any of their Android / Apple (not sure about BB) phones for domestic use. To be fair, the OP didn't specify, and I was assuming that's what they were referring to, because that is what many people are looking for. Even so, you still don't have any clue what YOU are talking about since the phone absolutely does not use an unlock code to unlock. Sprint sends a signal to the phone that performs the international unlock. So do some research before you try to act like you know what you're talking about. I know, because I've actually done it. I also have unlocked many of them manually and have done dozens of hours of research on how the process works. Rookie? Pssh. Hardly.

Reading is fundamental. I specifically was referring to a DOMESTIC unlock. This is a fair assumption, since the OP goes by steve and seems to be excited by the fact that the company is located in Florida. And I don't care who you talked to, they don't give you a code to input. I don't have to login to an account to know this, because like I've said, I've actually sat through the process. More than once. There can't be a pissing contest if you're playing a different game.

correct me if i am wrong, but PIN1/PUK1 unlock code is a password you enter (if enabled) on GSM phone if your SIM is PIN protected. you cannot make any calls if you SIM is locked with PIN and you do not have it. Every SIM has such lock capability (not enabled by default) and also has a PIN associated with it. Also I believe PUK code is needed to unlock SIM if too many invalid attempts have been made to unlock it with the wrong PIN.
Sprint will gladly give you that information, but it will not help you at all with neither domestic nor international calls.
Sprint firmware/modem is designed so it cannot be unlocked with code entered manually, but only OTA or via "hacks" allowing NVRAM changes.
We do this at our shop for some of the other companies around our location.
Of course we only do this for our most trusted friends and partners.
Remote access and having them on the line we can get this done within 10-15 minutes.
Watch the name calling and disrespect. One and only warning before infractions are handed out. You either Respond correctly or not at all.

Have a great day!
PIN1/PUK1 it's if you happen to lock your sim card on accident you would need the the two code to unlock the sim in order to be used again. Well that''s what i understood when i read it

Use this for international unlock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...print-samsung-unlocker-unlock-sprint-t2928250
This for domestic:

To be on the MI3 modem, you need to be on NC5 or older firmware. Once you do the unlock, you can use MJ4 modem as well. If you don't understand what this means, then please do some more research on those threads.

Yes, and...? Why would you expect it to? It specifically states that it isn't even necessary to the process.
No you are wrong no code to Sim unlock this device and stop being a jack but.... No Need for it....
I have a Note 3 from Sprint running on AT&T, i got it SIM unlocked from a guy on eBay called idoneapps.
He unlocked it remotely with in 30 mins, very nice guy. No issues what so ever, didnt need to root, got HSPA+, calling, text and data. Just had to edit the APN settings.
