Korean SHW-M250s - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a Korean SHW-M250s and wanted to root my phone with CF-Root and currently my kernel is 2.6.35.7-M250s.EG14.1208-CL380592. The rule of thumb for CF-Root to find the file to download is to get the file in bold CF-Root-2.6.35.7-I9100XXKG1-CL349526. This doesnt really apply to the Korean version and i was wondering if anyone could tell me which file to use please?
Thanks in advance

Check in the "General "section of the forum. There is a thread dedicated to Korean models.
I hope you'll find what you're looking for there.
Good luck

You could also flash siyahkernel 2.6.12 .tar file with PDA in Odin. Will root and give custom "red pill" recovery.

Thank you i think that this will do!
just flash a stock rom over the one you are using...
I assume that flashing is useing the odin but where do i get a stock rom?
Have a look at the xda bookmarks in my sig. There's both branded and unbranded stock firmware in there.
Ok so i download the israeli firmware for instance snd then flash it with the odin? Will it get rid of the triangle?

Use odin to flash the kernal or if your phone is rooted cwm.
You can find odin in intratec official firmware thread inthe developmemt section

DVLB1 looks like it is the modem/baseband version. That doesn't matter for rooting.
What is your build number, and your kernel version?
EDIT: sorry, I was wrong. DVLB1 is a branded Telstra firmware. My bad.
See this post - it may help you.
EDIT 2: Alternatively, you can just flash the Gingerbread versions of either SpeedMod or Siyah kernel, and you will have root. Both these kernels auto-root your phone for you.

Learn how to use Odin
get ROM from checkfus downloader or sammobile.com
Pick lp7 ROM skip lp9.
You can flash any ROM if you got i9100, say UK lp7.
Flash using Odin.

Doesn't matter were you are...
Get a whole package and flash.
Lp7 UK ics
Dxlp9 Singapore ics
Both stock roms work fine. Personally I say go for lp7 UK.
After that learn how to use cfroot kernel to get root access.
Sent from my GT-I9100
Thanks for that.
Can you give me that link for lp7.
I salute you.

SII I9100 rooted OTA update

Hey Galaxy SII people, I need some help with a friend's SII.
I'm quite knowledgeable with custom ROMs and recoveries, but I have no idea what to do with a stock phone.
The phone is rooted and not getting the OTA to ICS. I want to get the OTA, losing root not necessarily a problem.
Can someone give me a hand with this? I have no idea what I need to do.
The phone also has the stock recovery.
I apologize if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find a conclusive, comprehensive answer.
Go to samfirmware and download the update firmware and install it via odin.
All the best.

Flash stock ROM from http://samfirmware.com/ via Odin. Search for galaxy S2 ROMs, just make sure you don't download the dangerous ROMs (the ones with a warning triangle next to them).

Thanks for the quick reply.
I'm downloading a zip now. I flash this with Odin/Heimdall? I thought I needed a .tar and a bunch of other files to flash with Odin.
This won't keep root, right? Is there any way I could get root back after flashing?
Also, will this wipe /data?
Oh, and I have the option to download a ROM for a specific carrier. Does that mean I can't use another carrier?
Edit: While I'm at it, is the stock recovery needed for anything stock ROM related?
Yes download will be in the form of a zip file, once downloading is complete you can extract the tar. file and place in the PDA section of odin. This will not wipe your device, well never has done for me. Yes you will loose root as you have a completely new rom with stock kernel. See the guide for rooting your chosen firmware. As for the carrier i always use the unbranded /open version as this has less bloat ware. All the best.

Make sure you don't have repartition button ticked or play with the pit file if you don't 100% know what you're doing either
