I'm new to the Photon... the hands free activation is killing me. How do I disable this? Its driving me INSANE!
I'm rooted and I can delete an apk if I need to, but which one?
Any help as this is driving me BONKERS!!!! Thank you!!!
Since the sim is unlocked, I actually got a Mexican sim card in there.... I don't need the CDMA part. So the hands free activation gotta go (also anyway to boot in GSM? thanks again!)
Try looking in /system/app/ for sprintadroidextension.apk or something along those lines, i dont remember 100% for sure. Backup before deleting or renaming anything just incase something somehow goes wrong. That should do it IIRC, im sure someone will pop in with a more definitive answer, if not theres piles of things to try if you search online for it. If that doesn't do it, some people say that you can usually touch all four corners of the screen clockwise and it will bypass activation(you start at top left and move your way around other corners).
i've tried the four corners every way possible, that didn't work. i'm waiting for it to restart to look for that apk. we shall see... lol i googled it, but I couldn't find any quick answers, then I had to google how to root the phone... so now thats done, I'm trying to find this last answer... thanks!
I found the answer... thanks!
Would you please share your answer?

If you have a rooted phone, just delete 2 files from system/app folder:
SprintOMADMConnMOPlugin.apk
SprintOMADMConnMoPlugin.odex
If your phone is not rooted, just put it into Airplane Mode before switching off.
SOLVED!

I'm not saying you should pay him, I'm saying let the man do what he wants to do. If he's done, so be it! He has put an amazing lot of hours and work into the base of this rom. Market does not show any app. --> FIXED. move vending.apk with rootexplorer from system/app to data/app, reboot, go settings-apps-manage apps and uninstall market. Extract vending apk from the market.zip file attached above and move it to sdcard and install. With rootexplorer move the installed app from data/app to system/app and reboot. Market should work fine
Still su problems when exiting rootexplorer or similar (su used)

Hey is the problem with the touch screen the same as the one from the x8 rom cm7 introduced in the other thread?!
If so the possibility of using cm7 might be high, since I guess the major problem with it was I had no touch yet the vital features were working, like call sms vibration volume and such, but still I didn't fool around enough with it to be sure.
So if tell me how to fix the touch problem, I would be grateful

There are couple threads about this. Either way, to get it working, you need to call Fido/Rogers and disable Name Display on your line.

jovy23 over on the T-mobile side of the S4 forums came up with this volume hack.. well maybe hack is a bad word. Its a mod
Anyways, I threw it on mine (manually adb pushed /system/etc/snd_soc_msm/) and its a noticeable difference. (yes it also works btw). I haven't been brave enough to go higher than the moderate, but I figured I'd give it to anyone who wants to go give it a shot.

I don't have bluetooth headphones to test it with sorry. It mentioned in the file that it was updating various speakers and mics alike (not just one) so I could assume that it also boosted the bluetooth volume. Don't hold me to it though.

Yeah that's what exactly what I said. I actually had to turn my volume down a little at night. Normal notifications were like having the phone next to your ear at full volume. haha

Hey, not a stupid question. The only stupid question is the one not asked ( regardless of some of the members here... eh hem)
You'll need ADB if you plan on doing it from your computer or you'll need root browser depending on how you want to do it.
Root is required, as you have to modify system folders.
If you don't know what you're doing, I'd recommend getting root browser.
1) Place the two files (snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3, and snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm) on your SD card.
2) Navigate to System/etc/snd_soc_msm and delete the files (snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3...and it's brother) there.
3) Copy and paste the files from your SD card to replace them.
4) Reboot your phone.

Does this work for AOSP as well?
Thanks for the post. Once i finally get around to rooting my S4 Ill have to give this a try. Iv never been great doing mods and stuff. SO hopefully this is pretty easy. Just about the only thing Iv disliked about my S4 is the volume output. Can hardly hear my notifications if im in a place thats not pretty quite.

I haven't seen an AOSP rom for the S4 yet, but I would assume no. The file does not exist at the same location on stock 4.2 ( checked on my GNex prior to typing this). I would venture to say that this is a TW exclusive mod.

Looks like the same method to get tether/hotspot without rooting that works for S6 also works for S7. Just like the S6 thread in which /u/KennyG123 pointed out a working solution originally for Note 4 by /u/MasterTentacles, here is the solution that also works for S7:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/general/lollipop-hotspot-root-flashing-t3048163
Similar to last time, since there is no root involved, knox isn't tripped and samsung pay still works. Similar to before, you still need MSL and need to re-apply the above settings with any major software update.

If you get your phone activated in a store, and are on an Easy Pay plan, they normally will not give you your MSL because the phone is "not yours" yet.
As soon as you get the phone, the next day, get into a chat with support and ask for a copy of the manual activation steps. This should give you the MSL as well. You might have to coach them into what you want. They tried to point me to the web activation, then to a semi manual activation, then the full manual one.

The reboot method still works after the update...
Reboot phone,
As soon as is possible navigate to and turn hotspot,
it usually works on 1st try,
if you get 'no data connection', quickly turn off and turn on hotspot again.
if you get 'not subscribed to this service', start at reboot again.
This is not my find,
it is from other GS7 hotspot thread.

I have yet to find a way around it. There is a new update out. I have not installed it yet, still waiting to see the reports on what it changes.
For now, I can confirm that turning your phone off and then on, and activating hot spot immediately let's you turn it on.
The latest update improved Voice over WiFi, which I need to be better for work, so I'm sadly going to be the guinea pig for this update. I'll report back soon on whether or not it locks out the previously mentioned working option.

Reboot your phone. As soon as you can unlock it open the hot spot settings and turn it on. Then connect something to it right away.

This is correct! Follow this YouTube video and it'll work for you to. Just verified on my unlocked GS7.

It's not perfect or consistent for me, I had to reboot it a couple of times to get it to work more than a few seconds but the second time it stayed on for several minutes! I went to test the internet and it was working as you would expect. This is awesome!
