Samsung Galaxy S2 wifi connection times out
Hi
This problem is occuring on my phone as well after installing the latest firmware upgrade to ICS. It doesn`t matter which wifi i`m connected to, after a few minutes I have to disable/enable wifi on the phone to get the connection up and running.
Multiple posts on ICS + WiFi problems .

just try a diff compatable kernel other than the one u have currently it might resolve the issue
Yea. Try different kernal it might help you me to had some Wi-Fi issues in past but mostly happened due to unstable Kernals. Try cf-root kernals they will solve your issue but they are for root users.

Did u already try an other Kernel, like some User recommend?
The Probs are known in ICS Roms...
Also Kernel devs had probs with it.
I recommend to try the latest from Siyah!
The 3.0.1 only comes out because fixing this...
BUT completly is also doesn't fix the prob becaue it seems to be more deeper in system....
For myself had the prob a lot often before using the latest Siyah, after it once in 2-3 days.
Much success
CHEERS
i had the same issue with gb and ics and the only solucion after many tries wan this: simplistic disaster III arthquake v2, i dont know whay but is the only way tha my wifi is working without drops

Hello all,
My Galaxy S2 (international version) is having wifi issues after I installed the stable release of cyanogenmod 9, and after flashing my modem. I'm not sure exactly which of the two caused the problem, if either, as they both happened pretty close in time. I was also under the impression that the modem firmware didn't affect wifi.
What normally happens is that the wifi will work for a few minutes and then stop. Also, despite not downloading any data, it says it's connected and has an excellent signal.
Any thoughts on what might be causing the issue?

Probably it is incompatibilty with the CM9. CM9 stock modem is good enough IMO.

I just tried reinstalling CM9 and I'm still left with the modem I flashed. So apparently CM9 doesn't come with its own stock modem. Also, the problem didn't go away. Might there be a compatibility issue between modem and CSC?

Wifi issues are Kernel related and no modem related.

Hello!
I'm sorry if this is a repeated thread.
I'm on Jelly Bean stock firmware I9100XWLSK (4.1.2) (Indian version) rooted. Everything is fine except that I am not able to turn on wifi since last week (Its becomes dull green and then gets grey; Refer Screenshot).
There was a similar problem when I was on ICS (when wifi toggle switch used to hang), but it was solved by one of the several tweaks suggested for the problem..e.g. delete connection and put the phone in airplane mode etc. etc.
But this time none of these worked. The wifi would just won't turn on. S2 without wifi is of no use to me.
I've tried every thing; Flashed stock GB 2.3.6 & JB 4.1.2 I9100XWLST, Did factory reset, wiped cache data, etc etc.
I'm tired now, this problem is being faced by many others so I request you all masters of andriod to take the matter seriously and come out with a solution please.
Further more when i use USSD codes such as *#*#526#*#* or *232339# WLAN Test code, nothing happens, these codes do not work on my 4.1.2 S2.
Many Thanx & Regards.
PS: Find the attached screenshots.
Try a custom kernel (pick any one you want). WiFi drivers are in the kernel, so therein probably lies your problem.

1) Please do not use Bold letter's like this in ur post unless to highlight words.
2) Have u checked for the wifi issue after updating to JB and before rooting ur phone.
3) since its repeatedly occuring for u (had it on ICS and now on JB- rooted) have u ever thought it might be a hardware related.
4) have u tried a Diff Kernel like PHILZ/DORIMANX/SIYAH to see if the wifi issue resolved

1) Apologies for the bold letters.
2) I was on stock 4.1.2 and to resolve it I rooted it but no sucess, i further went on flashing GB 2.3.6 but still wifi wont turn on. Currently i'm on rooted I9100XWLSK (4.1.2) (Indian version).
3) I can only wish its not a hardware, when this problem occurred in ICS many people told its an hardware issue but it wasn't. After JB update it went on a working state and now after a long time I'm facing this issue.
4) No, please suggest.
Regards.

I've been trying to do that too but to no avail. The wifi button stays grey for 2-3 seconds and then gets off by itself. Refer Screenshot.

Prior to having this wifi issue I was on this same Philz kernel.
I was having an instinct that it wont solve the problem. Can you suggest me to flash some other kernels?

Bro I tried the siyah kernel but the wifi still doesnt turn on...
Please advise.
I have the same problem as khani245 only I had originally NeatRom XWLSS on my phone and worked well no problems until I went o/s for a couple of weeks and I changed sims and I couldn't get wifi so I had a Samsung guy look at it and to fix he put GB 2.36 and it worked sort of but when I got home and changed back to my recent NeatRom I couldn't even get the green ticks in the wifi settings. I have gon back to GB2.3.4 cleared everything installed stock rom and now get the green wifi ticks but wifi is continually searching for any connection but can't even find my modem/router 4` away. There is a problem and it seems to be a software problem.
So my bro got a i9300 S3 (international), its his first android after iphones for years.
Anyway he has tried to install Cyanogenmod and reckons there is no wifi (will show his router but not connect)
Stock works fine but he hates touchwiz.
The steps he has taken are....
updates to 4.3 from Kies
rooted via odin
installed cwm
installed cm10.2 and gapps
He says everything is perfect except wifi, its sees router and saves connection but doesnt connect.
His baseband is i9300buugj3
Now he is really gutted as he loves the stock android look.
Any fixes and steps would be appreciated! (I cant get to him to have a look myself hence the post!)
Perhaps update baseband would fix?? (And if so how would he do that? Via odin? Does CWM being installed affect anything?
Thanks in advance!!

whats the build information of the cyanogenmod that is flashed, i think its a nightly build, sometimes there are different issues in nightly builds, did you tried a stable one i mean M Snapshot, thats a stable one and also does not have wifi issues.

this happens sometimes, i m too using cyanogenmod myself, when i was using stock rom i was able to connect to my college's router, but after flashing cyanogenmod, i was not able to connect to it, nowdays they have replaced with new router, n there is no problem inn connecting to it, even i never had problem to connect to my home's router, this happens with some router.. maybe this time with your's.. try to connect to other router than your's.
I have the exact same problem
my phone sees the router and saves connection but doesnt connect.
I also tried Wifi tether from my other phone and even that doesnt connect, it just saves the network...
this is happening on all CM based 4.2.2 roms...
havent tried 4.3 and AOSP roms...
